Thanks so much for the constant pics to illustrate names and faces. As a casual viewer who is only familiar with the core 7 films, it helps me navigate the murky depths of all the supplemental material that has been written/retconned/re-written. One of the questions I have though is how the so-called "Rule of Two" is treated. If Sidious and Dooku are the two, then why would Dooku train a sith from Vos? Are apprentices allowed to have their own sub-apprentice or something? At least Ventress had a happy ending in the fact that she was redeemed and could die peacefully and not full of hatred and despair.
Thanks, and during the rule of two era, the two Sith would usually train dark side adepts or assassins who could use the force (like Asajj Ventress) in order to take care of the more tedious work. They weren't taught the Sith secrets or abilities, but were trained well enough to be able to combat Jedi. They also served the purpose to replace the Sith apprentice in case he or she got killed.
Phoenix7786 It's not exactly a set-in-stone rule, they can break it all the time. The Emperor had tons of sith assassins that he trained, such as Mara Jade. Vader had an apprentice of his own for a while whom he used to track down and kill any remaining Jedi or enemies of the Emperor. And it's not like all of these apprentices were trained behind Palpatine's back either. Dooku presented Grievous and Ventress to Sidious as well, and he approved of them. The Rule of Two really comes into play when we talk about power/order in the sith society. The Jedi "ruling" class is the Jedi Council; the Sith ruling class is the two. That's why even though there can be more dark-side force users, there can only be two sith with the title of "Darth"
Phoenix7786 the rule of two specifically is for with Sith Lord rank I believe, a sith can have many students, but only one of them, if the master even chose, would become Sith lord with him or her.
Sith Assassins are different then true Sith apprentices and Lords. They don't get the full training of the Sith and don't learn all their secrets, they're only taught enough to be able to be used as a powerful weapon against their enemies, but they often will be killed if they become too powerful because then they'll be considered rivals.
In the expanded universe I believe Vos survives order 66 and lives retired with a woman he loves and even has a child with and it's believed it may be ventress
Diana Lopez - I couldn’t agree more! I thought for a while that Rey was somehow a child of Obiwan & Ventress. Guess I blew that one. Ventress really got a raw deal. She was crushed when Dooku turned against her, and he was the last apprentice Sideous taught lightning too!
Tessa Jalloh It's canon. Permanently. All of the books that came out (and continue to come out) after Disney bought Lucasfilm are canon, Dark Disciple included. I felt like it was a great ending for a beloved and complex character.
Asajj and Ahsoka are the best recent personage in star wars for my taste. They are both inteligent very capable females. And I like this thin line between love and hate, agony and clarity. Not too far to the utopian white shining knight side nor to the unredeemable parent's worst nightmare. Just like real life.
I agree 100%!! Well said... although I would adjust the comment to, "they are both... very capable [PEOPLE]." There is no reason to bring gender into the discussion UNLESS YOU THINK WOMEN ARE INFERIOR TO MEN...???
@@clamroll200 He said female because men are typically written better then a lot of female characters, "typically." Asajj and Ahsoka are great cases in how a female character should be written.

@@andrewkim3965 well that can't put every character into one un contextualized scene. Anthony Spitery I know I'm late as hell but on replying to this but this was originally gonna be a 8-episode story arc in The Clone Wars TV series before it was canceled.
People:It was great that Obi Wan, despite there differences went to Ventress’ funeral Me, who read the book:He only went to make sure Vos didn’t do anything crazy, but when the spirits came, he respected her more.
goblinwrecks I felt she loved Count Dooku, till he tried to kill her. The Count already killed his last apprentice and gave Assaji her lightsaber, foreshadowing ooo. :)
goblinwrecks I guess we all have our own interpretation of Ventress. She has a pretty fleshed out backstory and from all the anguish she went through from losing her master as a Jedi to having the population of her home world annihilated I suppose that the only comfort she sought out was Dooku before he tried to assassinate her. I think that even after that happened, even though Ventress despised Dooku she still had some sort of respect for him due to him being her former master.
I wished that arc could be put in the Season 7 of Clone Wars. Too bad they wasted 4 episodes on Ahsoka meeting two humans PS: I love Clone Wars Season 7 and i think its the best thing of Star Wars to come out in years. But i think it could indeed have some improvement
"No room for badass women in Star wars episodes or Movies." *clears throat* do you even try? there are like millions of badass women in star wars cannon and even more in legends like seriously

+CyberLeaf well, would you want new movies or not, cause if they kept the old with the new, it would be weird seeing 60 year old Han and leia with teenage children
Killing off Ventress was stupid. they could of explored her character so much more. I wish when Ahsoka quit the Jedi Temple, she went off to join Ventress. Seeing a han and chewie friendship with ahsoka and ventress would have been awesome.
sad, but I knew ventress wasn't all bad. There was an episode in the clone wars someone asked her if she would go back to being an agent for Dooku, or something like thst, and she replied along the lines of "no, that's not who I am, not anymore". if not mistaken, she even saved a life of someone she was tasked with capturing and turning in.
@@wowza3629 Sorry but I wasn't talking to you, now was I? And I just said shut up because it's so lame that people keep saying that. Wouldn't you be tired of people saying that over and over?
I love how the Jedi Council casually ignored the the dozens of Jedi and scores of clone-troopers that Ventress killed and gave her a quick-and-easy pardon.
That's how wars work, you kill a shit load of them, they kill a shit load of you, and at the end of it all you're supposed to walk awsy understanding that you were both only doing your duty to your country. It's why we didn't try members of the Wehrmacht for the crimes comitted by the Nazi Party, SS Tottenkampfverbande, and Einsatzgruppen.
Comments are like 75% about her hair or appearence beforehand. But this is such a great story, and its incredibly sad and I was really hoping for her to get a happy ending.
Ventress is my most favourite villain, I had no idea that she dead by Count Dooku hands, it's great that Obi-Wan and Voss attached her funeral and it was done in the Dathomir's traditional way #ripventress
It`s in a book/comic so that`s third level canon/Legends, so it could change if the writers of Rebels decide to bring her into the TV series at some point. Which would then make it secondary canon.
I started this video and went on to read Dark Disciple thanks to your great work! One thing I thought you failed to mention was that Vos, was still in the Dark side secretly after they rescue him. He was even sabotaging Jedi missions they worked on. The point I thought that should have been mentioned was that Obiwan, felt that Ventress was the one that saved him and brought him back in the battle that killed her. It’s only after this Vos goes back and confesses all him crimes to the Jedi Order. This pays compliment or even parallels the Luke and Vader ending so it was a surprise to me that it wasn’t mentioned. Thanks so much for your work it’s a pleasure going through your content keep it up!
The fact that Obi-Wan went to Ventress's funeral... well... says a lot about his character. It also proves that even when you 're enemies with someone that doesn't mean you have to dislike each other.
Ventress is now even more my favorite character and force user. I love how she didn't walk the line of good or evil. She was true force user of both light and dark, using the force for herself and for the benefit of others. Her redemption of her crimes and devotion to Vas, shows some really amazing character development. Thanks for this video. Characters like Ventress shows how Star Wars really misses the opportunity to show not everything is black and white. It also shows how wise and accepting Obi wan really was when it came to loyalty and benevolence. The Jedi order needed more like him.
08:11 what the fuck!!!??? spare dooku???? yeah i just saw my lover getting killed and when i defeat the guy that killed her i am gonna spare him... so ventress died for nothing....
"Hey we know you just got back and that sending you to assassinate Dooku turned you to the Dark Side, but we'd appreciate it if you went back to try and kill him again"

Ahh I see. Thank you.

Diana Lopez I couldn't agree more.
In the expanded universe I believe Vos survives order 66 and lives retired with a woman he loves and even has a child with and it's believed it may be ventress
If clone wars was an anime, she'd have a higher chance of surviving.
Not grimdark enough.

Rico Cintron im not sure but im quite sure it isnt dysney. maybe legends
+cinnamon bunny so old cannon
Very interesting thanks
the question is, will this remain canon or will Rebels overrule it to bring back a fan favourite?
Tessa Jalloh Doubt it since the events told were meant to be in TCW, and Rebels is integrating concepts from TCW that never came to full potential.
Tessa Jalloh It's canon. Permanently. All of the books that came out (and continue to come out) after Disney bought Lucasfilm are canon, Dark Disciple included. I felt like it was a great ending for a beloved and complex character.
Honestly it would be cool if they brought Vos into rebels and used his appearance there to tell this story.
and old washed up sith helping out .. would love to see that lol
Bobert91 eh. Rebels tends to ruin good lore.
Imagine if Ventress had survived, we could've probably seen her aid the Rebels or even surviving Jedi against the Empire
Still can. After watching Rise of Skywalker, I'd say any force user can come back from the dead if Disney thinks it would make money

Asajj and Ahsoka are the best recent personage in star wars for my taste. They are both inteligent very capable females. And I like this thin line between love and hate, agony and clarity. Not too far to the utopian white shining knight side nor to the unredeemable parent's worst nightmare. Just like real life.

Huh... If that worked out, I think we'd have heard asajj's voice in RoS
@@andrewkim3965 well that can't put every character into one un contextualized scene. Also this would be weird for people hearing a voice usually associated w/ a sinister character/bad guy as not many know how the dark disciple exonerates ventress. This truly is a magnificent story. It deserves to be made into something more than just a book

Lol. Dark disciple was the only time when Ventress showed her love feelings. Kinda rare.
goblinwrecks I felt she loved Count Dooku, till he tried to kill her. The Count already killed his last apprentice and gave Assaji her lightsaber, foreshadowing ooo. :)
Tollinchi Family I don't think she had romantic feelings for Dooku.
goblinwrecks Not romantic feelings, but she probably viewed Dooku as a father or something.
MrsMermaid2000 I don't really think that but who knows.
goblinwrecks I guess we all have our own interpretation of Ventress.
What I like about the expanded Universe is that not everything is black and white.
Well, this isn´t the EU this is part of the new canon.
New canon, old canon, it's all part of the expanded universe or EU. Just only the new stuff is canon. It's not a difficult concept to grasp.
I wished that arc could be put in the Season 7 of Clone Wars. Too bad they wasted 4 episodes on Ahsoka meeting two humans

Vos is stupid
He could have killed Dooku
well at least anakin eventually killed him
which was the first step of him turning evil
Dooku was way to powerful and knew Quinlan inside out. He never had a chance.
He spared him cause he sensed that Dooku wasn´t actually evil. Dooku joined the Sith to destroy them but Palpatine was one step further then him.
There's also the whole "Oh man we can't have Vos kill Dooku because Anakin kills Dooku."

rocafella142 I agree to a point. But I think this was a beautiful end to her arc, and frankly I wouldn't change it.
sad, but I knew ventress wasn't all bad. There was an episode in the clone wars someone asked her if she would go back to being an agent for Dooku, or something like thst, and she replied along the lines of "no, that's not who I am, not anymore". if not mistaken, she even saved a life of someone she was tasked with capturing and turning in.

You know this isn't canon anymore right? We still might see her.
+Sultan Kazi Hopefully
It`s in a book/comic so that`s third level canon/Legends, so it could change if the writers of Rebels decide to bring her into the TV series at some point.
Which would then make it secondary canon.
I know, I cried a little
Damn, what a tragic story. I can't believe Vos turned to the dark side too, that's pretty crazy.
This could have been such a great season 7.
