When I first started programming, the first thing my teacher did was show what happens when you break a program. He did this to get rid of any panic. I really appreciate you putting this video out there since it has the same effect.
I had two (monetization) strikes for music and had to mute the sound for a few minutes on those videos. Yes, it's extremely frustrating when you put this much time and effort into videos and the audio source that you pay a subscription to doesn't manage their music collection correctly and it causes monetization strikes. I used to use Audio Hero, but have since gone with another source because I don't have time to mess with that. ;)
I got wrongfully claimed and immediately stiked w/o warning because I paid somebody to make a thumbnail for me. UA-cam only cares about money and channel size, they don't care about you as a creator as they portrait.

I have no idea why UA-cam doesn't just give us 7 days by default to remove a video or not. We shouldn't have to keep suffering from copyright strikes when most of us would just simply take the video down.

Good info in this one. I didn’t know a strike only lasted for 90 days. I’ve disputed a few claims on the basis of using music as fair use (I’m teaching the song, not covering the song). This could be another related subject for you to cover...fair use. Cheers.

Phew! I’m glad that the “Copyright claim” issue is just an automatic system from youtube. I checked all of my videos with copyright claims and none of them affected my channel whatsoever! The only consequence you’ll get is that you won’t get any ad revenue and that will go to the music owner instead. Things only get serious if the owner actually tries to sue you themselves, but other than that, it’s just part of youtube’s coding.

I was looking at my own channel, and saw a Copyright Claim against one of my videos. I do a lot of Friday Night Funkin' mods, so when I saw this, I had a nice little panic attack debating to trim out the in-game song or to mute it. I'm not the best with making decisions; it'll turn into a 10-min debate, and even when I do something, I have serious regrets afterwards. I ended up muting it, but then my boomer of a grandmother is like, do you have license to play that game. It's a free game, and it's a game I like to play on my channel.

Great video...I've gotten lucky a couple times when I disputed because the music was being played in the background at the casino I was recording at and I had no intent of using the song ...it was under fair use..I usually try to add some music at about 65% volume during the edit and it usually will change it enough to avoid the copyright depending on the volume of the song I'm trying to change..Thanks..

No- but if you know where the music is from you can usually find the artist and reach out to them. Often though, it is another industry flagging their content, not the actual creator.
Yes you can they actually give you their full name and you can respond directly to their email that is provided. We have someone harassing us giving us copyright claims when we have a paid license for the videos we are using.
There are millions of channels using copywrite songs and these are never taken down. Its not like it an excerpt for discussion, they are full songs. You get a person at home just adding a song for his holoday video, no monetisations and Epic label come in and block the video... it`s not even compatable situations... so why are these blocked and others not?
Excellent points! But I think what I and many others in my review niche would like to know is about "fair use" or "fair dealing" if you're in the UK and Canada. If you get a claim on a review, can you still file a dispute? And if so, what if they still put the claim on?
Alternative solution: Devolop a deep connection with your subscribers and watch them crusade. You'd be surprised at what a few thousand angry people can accomplish. Just look at what happened with Jukin Media.
It says that ‘Copyright-protected content found. The owner allows the content to be used on UA-cam’ on a video that I made WITHOUT using anyone else’s stuff. I don’t know whether it could be the song or an image I used in the video that got copyrighted.
This is very helpful because I got a claim on the background music in a video when it was meant to be copyright free so I was worried😂 Update: I think the reason that I got the claim is because I have the music too loud on the video so it isn’t really in the background so I’ll know for future references

Copyright claim is nothing. They just letting you know about the claim has been made. But, if you got a copyright strikes, that's where you have to worry about because it can removed your account permanently. It is OK to get claimed than get striked.
So I’m a new editor (aka I make edits of characters in shows, you can check them out for yourself) and I use a lot of copyrighted music, and other editors do not get claimed whilst I do. What do I do then? What are they doing right?
Oh I know to well the good old copyright claims as a reaction channel, when I dispute I select that option fair use and reaction video. I don't dispute all but I do some.
There was a song I intended to use for a music video project, but unfortunately I got a yellow sign saying it’s been “partially blocked in some territories.” And sadly one of those said territories is the United States. Wonder how I’m meant to assure the copyright owners that it’s with firm intention that it’s being used by many other users on UA-cam and should not be labeled as a violation on any copyright rules?

Great video...I've gotten lucky a couple times when I disputed because the music was being played in the background at the casino I was recording at and I had no intent of using the song ...it was under fair use..I usually try to add some music at about 65% volume during the edit and it usually will change it enough to avoid the copyright depending on the volume of the song I'm trying to change..Thanks..

So this has crossed my mind of late.
What happens if someone makes a claim that some song you posted is copyright, but the song, in fact, is your own composition? In other words, the person lied!??
How does one prove that a song is their own and they had every right to post it?
Does this work if you use a copyrighted song, I want to make an animation video but am scared that i will get sued or it will get taken down , is there a way to keep the music on without paying or anything? Do you just give credit?

Hey great video, very helpful as usual, had one question though: If I dispute a claim, does the system give me a way of communicating directly with the person who initiated the claim? So that I can try to negotiate with them and try to just convince them to retract their claim?
No- but if you know where the music is from you can usually find the artist and reach out to them. Often though, it is another industry flagging their content, not the actual creator.
Yes you can they actually give you their full name and you can respond directly to their email that is provided. We have someone harassing us giving us copyright claims when we have a paid license for the videos we are using.
There are millions of channels using copywrite songs and these are never taken down. Its not like it an excerpt for discussion, they are full songs. You get a person at home just adding a song for his holoday video, no monetisations and Epic label come in and block the video... it`s not even compatable situations... so why are these blocked and others not?
Excellent points! But I think what I and many others in my review niche would like to know is about "fair use" or "fair dealing" if you're in the UK and Canada. If you get a claim on a review, can you still file a dispute? And if so, what if they still put the claim on?
Alternative solution: Devolop a deep connection with your subscribers and watch them crusade.
You'd be surprised at what a few thousand angry people can accomplish. Just look at what happened with Jukin Media.

It says that ‘Copyright-protected content found. The owner allows the content to be used on UA-cam’ on a video that I made WITHOUT using anyone else’s stuff. I don’t know whether it could be the song or an image I used in the video that got copyrighted.
This is very helpful because I got a claim on the background music in a video when it was meant to be copyright free so I was worried😂
Update: I think the reason that I got the claim is because I have the music too loud on the video so it isn’t really in the background so I’ll know for future references

I'm thinking of starting another channel without branding when I have property to sell to go on the MLS, (not allowed to have our name phone # etc) and create the same video but with branding to put on my main channel. I was afraid of getting a copyright strike. I guess it would be OK since I'd be original copyright holder, as you just showed us? Thanks!

I got copyrighted for using song I didn't know why I always download songs from app and never happened that before my friend tell me you have to credit the owner of the song so I deleted the video and I am so scared

I make slowed / reverb music of other artists, and I got copyright claimed, even though I put in credits, but this helped!

I wouldn’t mind but even acknowledged the track at the end of my vlog. It scared me silly, I have been trying to do everything by the book. Thank you for your help
I tried replacing the music but after 2 days, nothing has happened yet. How long would it take for the process to be completed?
I didn't receive any notification when I got the all clear so I'm not actually sure how long it took, I checked about a week later and it was clear

Copyright claim is nothing. They just letting you know about the claim has been made. But, if you got a copyright strikes, that's where you have to worry about because it can removed your account permanently. It is OK to get claimed than get striked.

So I’m a new editor (aka I make edits of characters in shows, you can check them out for yourself) and I use a lot of copyrighted music, and other editors do not get claimed whilst I do. What do I do then? What are they doing right?

Oh I know to well the good old copyright claims as a reaction channel, when I dispute I select that option fair use and reaction video. I don't dispute all but I do some.

There was a song I intended to use for a music video project, but unfortunately I got a yellow sign saying it’s been “partially blocked in some territories.” And sadly one of those said territories is the United States. Wonder how I’m meant to assure the copyright owners that it’s with firm intention that it’s being used by many other users on UA-cam and should not be labeled as a violation on any copyright rules?
