Maybe check out the GPD Win 2 and Win Max, still expensive but not as much. The Max performs better, too. Or keep an eye out for a possible new Android console from GPD later this year that will probably handle GC emulation decently well.

Look, at the end of the day, if it’s too expensive for you, don’t buy it. Like people have said, you’ve got plenty of options if you want to pay less. Do any of them do everything this does? No. That’s the point. I’ve been playing Mega Man X Command Mission on a Onemix 3 Pro Platinum, and can then switch to multiple work VMs, then put it in my bag and head out for some mobile work/play in the car or on a plane. You’re not gonna do that on a Switch/PS5/XboxX/17 inch gaming laptop/whatever else you wanna compare it to.
I think people's issues with it are that the Win Max can do everything this thing does, but at a smaller price point and more horsepower; you could also get a 13/15 inch gaming laptop that'll outclass both and you still have that portability.
$1000 prices this out of the competition, I feel. Sure, there's PS2/Wii emulation and whatnot, but people build low end computers all the time that can do more for over 300 dollars less. The win max is already super expensive and this TROUNCES that.

Man people watching this video are pretty whiny. It's not a device for everyone. I was considering the one max but this may be a better option according to my needs. I wish this had used an AMD processor like the newest 4000 series for laptops, which have much better Integrated Graphics. The CPU is at such a low percentage while the crappy Intel GPU is nearly maxed out. Once devices like these start using AMD products, very capable handhelds that can run full games and practically all emulators will be a reality.
It has a higher resolution screen and 4G built-in. These things cost more money. The GPD Win Max is great for gaming - but if you want to work a bit on it as well, the low resolution might be a downside. So yeah, for gaming-only, the GPD Win Max probably wins, for gaming and general usage, the OneGX is probably the winner.
@@EvilDragon1717 Nobody is gonna be doing serious work on a 7" notebook with the resolution set so high, either. I occasionally do light work from my Topjoy Falcon 8 (8" 1920x1200) and have to scale up the UI size.

Even though this thing is 1000$ much like the win max, after you have a high end setup and get one of these devices, its a magical thing.. being able to play your steam library and roms on the go^^ i just wish big name brands would make this form factor.. we've come along way since the gameboy

It might be a great product, but at that price there's no justification. Get a mid-range new or business old laptop + a set of controllers at half the price, or stay at home with an used-parts 300 bucks machine and enjoy life. If anything could get my attention for a new emulation device, then it would be hardware emulation, but that also comes at a fraction of the cost

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling the next current gen Switch revision (not the next gen Switch 2) will have this design but with a dual screen and slimmer form factor. Just hope they remember to make it dockable.
Im very interested in the one gx pro with tigerlake. But I doubt that will be out before the end of the year as this 'fashion edition' is only shipping in August. I think the whole unit looks great. But the soc they use just doesn't have the gpu power needed. I've ordered a win max for now. Might look at a one gx pro when that comes out
Quite surprising Wii emulation performance on such a CPU! Made me think about asking for your 🐬 setting... (Maybe I'm doing sg wrong on similar specs (i5-8350U, 16G DDR4, UHD620... I could never squeeze out such smooth audio) Also would you be so kind and show us some Wii titles at problematic scenarios? Example: Mario Galaxy has been reportedly choppy with the 🌞 being present in scene. (It appears in your screen but briefly)
This seems to be a stand in for their upcoming tiger lake version. With tiger lake, it should be a lot more competitive spec wise to the GPD Win Max. Currently, the quad core CPU isn't doing much for it and the GPU is a 16% higher clock that the GPD Win 2 with the same number of execution units. I like the idea of a laptop and handheld combo, but the Win Max does it without adding bulk to the sides. If the company looked at having the screen fold completely back with the cooling intake/discharge at the top of the device, it could be very similar to a switch, while converting back to a miniature laptop.
The Tigerlake version should beast over the Win Max. Seeing that the Win Max can handle the Icelake 25w, I'm assuming GPD will release a Win Max 2 to compete. I'm guessing the Win 3 will run the Tigerlake Y at 9w, so I wonder if it'll have any significant performance gains over the Win Max.
@@CodeSerial I would expect the GPD Win Max to be 20-30% more powerful than the Tigerlake Y at 9W. I have the GPD Win 2, and it is already a bit much to hold in the hands compared to lighter or more ergonomic handhelds. The Win Max is a bit too big for what I would prefer, and the OneGx1 looks to have the same issue. On the Win Max or OneGx1, it looks like I would have to set the device down during internet browsing, where on the Gpd win 2, I can navigate and use the keyboard as a handheld. The Gpd Win 3 should be a lot like the gpd win 2, and the usability as a handheld for gaming and browsing will be retained. It would be nice if they focused more on the grip shape, loud fan, the unit heating up too much and makes my hands warm, clickable analog sticks, and a analog trigger to utilize more of steam's controller designs (partially engaged trigger to aim, fully engaged shoot) and racing games. I am curious to see if most other people will pass on these because they a bit big to be a handheld, and a bit small to replace a laptop.
Looks good. Are you going to compare with the other one. Is it normal for Mario sunshine to have that low fps. the WII games seem fine. Are the controller attachments connected to the computer or are they always wireless, in some cases wireless means some tiny lag. I see they turn into wireless when dis attached.. I wonder how well bsnes accuracy runs on any of these. I am really waiting on the UFO and specs. It will probably be overpriced as alianware's are always. But if it has something better then dedicated graphics id go UFO. Otherwise i may just go with one of these as it's cheaper and probably just as good if they all have dedicated graphics. Id only get this if you plan on playing it like this. Good for playing on sitting down somewhere or standing, plaing like a handheld. If not just get a regular gaming laptop and a Xbox one controller and put it on the table or lap. You would probably be happier.

It’s a fascinating concept, but I don’t see much of a reason to buy it when it’s main pro is portability. A Wii itself can run these games and even be modded- and if the Wii were to break/brick then another Wii could be acquired for a reasonable price. It would be cool as hell to play gamecube on the go, but with smartphones and the likes portable entertainment can be acquired at a lower cost.
Looks much better than the early images you released of it. Initial thoughts are it looks VERY interesting. Update: So it is hugely overpriced, no thanks, I'll spend my hard earned money elsewhere.

The GPD Win Max has a better GPU, is cheaper, and may have better temps it seems. This looks to have better build quality and detachable joysticks as the differing factors.

Because the win max, its direct competitor, packs a bigger punch for gaming for less money. Sure RGB and a 1200p screen is nice and all, but not practical for battery consumption and rare will be games running at native resolution (and at that screen size, this resolution is overkill for me)
Which people? Majority of people paid 200-300 dollar for phone. IMHO you get what you paid for though, the size, the i5 chip and many component for this small laptop at this price range is for me "fine". I cant afford it though LOL
@Zahir Datoo I just want to clarify that I know a lot of people buy phone under 500 dollars. But there are many out there who buys 900 and up and still complain that devices such as this are too pricey. The you "need" a phone argument cannot be apply to these people because you can simply by phones that do just as much for cheaper price. Also, the switch is 300 dollars. Idk where you're pulling that number from. If you want to use switch as an example, please remember that all the switch can do is game while you can so much more on this device. Gaming + other productivity on the go. The switch also lacks a good library of retro games unless you hack it. I'm not saying the switch is worse than this device (I own the switch myself), I'm just saying that for this specific device, you're getting what you paid for. I see that you also mention surface go. The surface go alone isnt good enough if you want to effectively game on it on the go. You will need its type cover which adds about 100-120 dollars. If not you would still need a controller with you. On top of that the form factor matters. Let's say you're on a train, on your way to work, it is much easier to just bring out the onegx1 and game on it than the surface go where youll have to put it on your lap and bring out your controller. And yes, I also happen to own a surface (even though its an sp4 and not spgo but I doubt the experience would differ) which is why I know onegx1 will be a lot more convenient when it comes to gaming on the go. P.s. after all that i've said to defend my point of view, I wont be buying this device lol

I never said people don't need phone for daily basis, I said it before that a lot of people out there buys phone for cheaper but there are tons out there too who buy really expensive phones and complain about pricing of other devices. Was it really that hard to understand? Also If you would read again you would be able to tell that in the 2nd section, I was mainly comparing it to the switch, that you can do much more on the device compared to the SWITCH. And out of nowhere you bring up "as you can on a phone". I never said you couldn't. And if you really want to compare a phone to the onegx1 then there's so much more productivity that can be done with the gx. A lot of mainstream/heavy software just don't exist on phone. Mobile version of those software don't offer full functionality of the software. Also, if you also owns a surface, you can't deny that it'll be much easier to whip out and game while you're on the go on the ongx1 than on the surface. Don't get me wrong, if I have to choose between the surface and the onegx1, 9 out of 10 times I'd pick the surface. But that doesn't make the gx any less valuable. P.s. next time just say switch lite and not switch (you cant even hack the switch lite).
The spec on this thing is very similar to a Lenovo V15-IIL which retails at £799 and of course doesn't have the joycons but does have a slightly larger screen. Since devices retailing at $1000 usd usually come up at around £1000 when adjusted for tax it does seem that you are paying a £200 premium for a slightly smaller form factor and having an integrated if removable controller. I am not sure if that would be worth while for me, but I can see the argument for it. Having said that the price on Ali Express is much more reasonable at £777.47 as long as you are willing to wait for the 'package from China' as the Wicked Gamer and Collector might say.
I think they've out prices themselves against there competitors especially seeing as the xbox series x and ps5 are way cheaper and will blow this apart

Honestly I'm just saying you can't easily compare things that are too different. This is a full laptop PC in a very compact case. That said I think it gets blown up by the GPD Max (a very comparable device), though the "Joycon" are kinda cool.

Looks great, but I worry about the long term reliability on such an expensive device. Plus, battery life is just not there for these emulation machines for high spec emulation. We really need a breakthrough in battery tech to make these portable devices truly appealing. Maybe in the next 5 years.

As neat as it is , there are very few ppl with finances to just throw away like this and even then how often are they really going to use this compared to the multitude of other devices that are slightly less convenient but way more legit and reliable.

What's the battery life on this? Playing Dolphin emulator, PS2 emulator, CEMU? I didn't buy the GPD Win Max due to its poor battery life. This is important to me. Great video as always!
Battery life on the most demanding game I did here would last 3-4 hours. I would personally drop down to native and lower the TDP to increase that. The base battery life can be around 10 hours for other systems/PC use.
Sad thing is that for the price of this thing you can build a gaming pc with better specs like a dozen 5 3600 and a rtx 2060, I mean it's portable so that makes sense why it's worth so much more, if I got this thing on a big sale I would think it's amazing as having a portable device for trips would be awesome

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling the next current gen Switch revision (not the next gen Switch 2) will have this design but with a dual screen and slimmer form factor. Just hope they remember to make it dockable.

Im very interested in the one gx pro with tigerlake. But I doubt that will be out before the end of the year as this 'fashion edition' is only shipping in August. I think the whole unit looks great. But the soc they use just doesn't have the gpu power needed. I've ordered a win max for now. Might look at a one gx pro when that comes out

This seems to be a stand in for their upcoming tiger lake version. With tiger lake, it should be a lot more competitive spec wise to the GPD Win Max. Currently, the quad core CPU isn't doing much for it and the GPU is a 16% higher clock that the GPD Win 2 with the same number of execution units. I like the idea of a laptop and handheld combo, but the Win Max does it without adding bulk to the sides. If the company looked at having the screen fold completely back with the cooling intake/discharge at the top of the device, it could be very similar to a switch, while converting back to a miniature laptop.
The Tigerlake version should beast over the Win Max. Seeing that the Win Max can handle the Icelake 25w, I'm assuming GPD will release a Win Max 2 to compete. I'm guessing the Win 3 will run the Tigerlake Y at 9w, so I wonder if it'll have any significant performance gains over the Win Max.
@@CodeSerial I would expect the GPD Win Max to be 20-30% more powerful than the Tigerlake Y at 9W. I have the GPD Win 2, and it is already a bit much to hold in the hands compared to lighter or more ergonomic handhelds. The Win Max is a bit too big for what I would prefer, and the OneGx1 looks to have the same issue. On the Win Max or OneGx1, it looks like I would have to set the device down during internet browsing, where on the Gpd win 2, I can navigate and use the keyboard as a handheld. The Gpd Win 3 should be a lot like the gpd win 2, and the usability as a handheld for gaming and browsing will be retained. It would be nice if they focused more on the grip shape, loud fan, the unit heating up too much and makes my hands warm, clickable analog sticks, and a analog trigger to utilize more of steam's controller designs (partially engaged trigger to aim, fully engaged shoot) and racing games. I am curious to see if most other people will pass on these because they a bit big to be a handheld, and a bit small to replace a laptop.

I am really waiting on the UFO and specs. It will probably be overpriced as alianware's are always. But if it has something better then dedicated graphics id go UFO. Otherwise i may just go with one of these as it's cheaper and probably just as good if they all have dedicated graphics.
Id only get this if you plan on playing it like this. Good for playing on sitting down somewhere or standing, plaing like a handheld. If not just get a regular gaming laptop and a Xbox one controller and put it on the table or lap. You would probably be happier.

It’s a fascinating concept, but I don’t see much of a reason to buy it when it’s main pro is portability. A Wii itself can run these games and even be modded- and if the Wii were to break/brick then another Wii could be acquired for a reasonable price. It would be cool as hell to play gamecube on the go, but with smartphones and the likes portable entertainment can be acquired at a lower cost.
How are the controls connected? It doesn't look like there are physical connectors on the sides.

The GPD Win Max has a better GPU, is cheaper, and may have better temps it seems. This looks to have better build quality and detachable joysticks as the differing factors.

Because the win max, its direct competitor, packs a bigger punch for gaming for less money.
Sure RGB and a 1200p screen is nice and all, but not practical for battery consumption and rare will be games running at native resolution (and at that screen size, this resolution is overkill for me)
Which people? Majority of people paid 200-300 dollar for phone. IMHO you get what you paid for though, the size, the i5 chip and many component for this small laptop at this price range is for me "fine". I cant afford it though LOL

The you "need" a phone argument cannot be apply to these people because you can simply by phones that do just as much for cheaper price.

If you want to use switch as an example, please remember that all the switch can do is game while you can so much more on this device. Gaming + other productivity on the go.
The switch also lacks a good library of retro games unless you hack it.
I'm not saying the switch is worse than this device (I own the switch myself), I'm just saying that for this specific device, you're getting what you paid for.
I see that you also mention surface go.
The surface go alone isnt good enough if you want to effectively game on it on the go. You will need its type cover which adds about 100-120 dollars.
If not you would still need a controller with you. On top of that the form factor matters.
Let's say you're on a train, on your way to work, it is much easier to just bring out the onegx1 and game on it than the surface go where youll have to put it on your lap and bring out your controller.
And yes, I also happen to own a surface (even though its an sp4 and not spgo but I doubt the experience would differ) which is why I know onegx1 will be a lot more convenient when it comes to gaming on the go.
P.s. after all that i've said to defend my point of view, I wont be buying this device lol

I never said people don't need phone for daily basis, I said it before that a lot of people out there buys phone for cheaper but there are tons out there too who buy really expensive phones and complain about pricing of other devices.

A lot of mainstream/heavy software just don't exist on phone.
Mobile version of those software don't offer full functionality of the software.
Also, if you also owns a surface, you can't deny that it'll be much easier to whip out and game while you're on the go on the ongx1 than on the surface.
Don't get me wrong, if I have to choose between the surface and the onegx1, 9 out of 10 times I'd pick the surface.
But that doesn't make the gx any less valuable.
P.s. next time just say switch lite and not switch (you cant even hack the switch lite).

The spec on this thing is very similar to a Lenovo V15-IIL which retails at £799 and of course doesn't have the joycons but does have a slightly larger screen. Since devices retailing at $1000 usd usually come up at around £1000 when adjusted for tax it does seem that you are paying a £200 premium for a slightly smaller form factor and having an integrated if removable controller. I am not sure if that would be worth while for me, but I can see the argument for it. Having said that the price on Ali Express is much more reasonable at £777.47 as long as you are willing to wait for the 'package from China' as the Wicked Gamer and Collector might say.
Well the 8gb model is the $1000 model the 16gb model is around $1200 so it must be the 8gb for that price not the slightly better model

Honestly I'm just saying you can't easily compare things that are too different. This is a full laptop PC in a very compact case.
That said I think it gets blown up by the GPD Max (a very comparable device), though the "Joycon" are kinda cool.

Looks great, but I worry about the long term reliability on such an expensive device. Plus, battery life is just not there for these emulation machines for high spec emulation.
We really need a breakthrough in battery tech to make these portable devices truly appealing. Maybe in the next 5 years.
I plan on showing some really aggressive BIOS changes to make gaming of any kind give at least 5 hours of battery life.

Battery life on the most demanding game I did here would last 3-4 hours. I would personally drop down to native and lower the TDP to increase that. The base battery life can be around 10 hours for other systems/PC use.
As soon as I saw the specs and the list of systems it could play I knew it would be expensive
Sad thing is that for the price of this thing you can build a gaming pc with better specs like a dozen 5 3600 and a rtx 2060, I mean it's portable so that makes sense why it's worth so much more, if I got this thing on a big sale I would think it's amazing as having a portable device for trips would be awesome
