Is My Old 2004 Hoyt Bow As Good As My New 2019!??

  • A look at three different years of Hoyt bows.
    2004 Hoyt xtec/xt1000 36 1/2 ata @ 72 lbs Letoff 65%
    2011 Hoyt Rampage 33 ata @72 lbs Letoff 75%
    2019 Hoyt RX3 Ultra 34 ata @ 82 lbs Letoff 85%
    The age old question, does my 2004 compound bow stand up to a new bow?? A lot of people would argue no, and even more would argue absolutely! I think the biggest difference between 2004 and 2019 is overall performance, speed’s, back wall, weight of the bow so itself and SOUND!
    The 2004 is an older are still great Bows and will still take down an animal just as easy today as they did back then. Today I think it comes down to more preference than anything mentioned above. Of course these are my personal opinions.
    Hope you all enjoy the video if you have any requests for anything special please comment below and I will do my best to get it out there for you!

    The older Hoyts are the best the company ever made. I have an old UltraTec and just bought a VTec. Wouldn't trade them for anything on the market today!

    Hoyt XTEC Alert along with anything that uses the TEC risers. The black plastic rocker arms. They ride on a bolt where limbs meet the riser. They need to be greased.
    Take the bow to a shop. Have the strings removed and pull the limbs from the riser. My rocker arms were shot and cracked. Just needed a replace and a bit of white lithium grease. They are TRIAX rocker arms. If you have the 60-70 bow you need the #6 rockers.

      My factory limb savers rotted off. I tried without and it was too loud as well as shaking site loose. I installed a set of twistlok limbsavers. Site still moved. Bought another set and that did the trick. I spaced them in pairs about equidistant apart. That raised poi 8 inches at 32 yards. Further dampening the bow. Then string wax string silencers and she is quiet . Gonna run it on chrony as I think the energy in shaking vibration has been transfered energy to the string and raising poi.

      The wooden grips are nice. However after I read your comment I slid one of my wood grips on my RX5 and it doesn’t fit. Cut is different. Could have one made. Or look at the rattler grips side plates or just stick with the stock grip. Also no screw holes so if you did have one made you’d have to tap some holes into the riser grip

Its a 70 pound bow and i've won a lot of archery competitions with it and killed a bunch of deer with it. I've shot deer and they just stood there because it's so quiet. My katera is 4 pounds.

    You said it’s been a while since you shot your oldest bow. How long has that been? I have a 2010 Hoyt Tomahawk that I haven’t shot in about 7 years. Did you get yours checked out and inspected before shooting?

    • @AntlerAssassinTakovich
      @AntlerAssassinTakovich  Рік тому +1

      I inspect my own bows. But For this one I checked the Strings and limbs. Made sure there were no signs of cracking or failure. I do believe I changed a buss cable on that X-tec before I filmed this. But highly recommend inspection before shooting any time. Not only After sitting for about 6-7 years. If you don’t have a bow press or experience with inspection of your bow. Definitely drop it by your pro shop and have them give it a quick look.

    • @AntlerAssassinTakovich
      @AntlerAssassinTakovich  4 роки тому

      davetileguy That is a fantastic question and one that is not often asked, and I think the simplest answer I can give you is that noise comes down to vibration the more noise you have the more vibration you have the more vibration you have the more uncomfortable that bow is going to be in your hands when it’s fired. It’s pretty desirable to have a bow that’s dead in the hands upon release and quiet. dampers, Limb shocks, String stops, etc. can all help contribute to a quieter bowl. Thus making that bow less vibratory and comfortable. I hope that answers your question if you have any more feel free please comment again! Thanks for watching!

    • @ExploringCabinsandMines
      @ExploringCabinsandMines 4 роки тому

      @@AntlerAssassinTakovich so you would say it only matters during practice because when hunting you only get one shot.

    • @AntlerAssassinTakovich
      @AntlerAssassinTakovich  4 роки тому +1

      davetileguy To me it matters in both situations, Just because you’re hunting with a bow doesn’t necessarily mean you only get one shot, I hunt in states that sell multiple tags for instants my home state is Michigan and we get two buck tags. And I have at multiple times shot two bucks back to back that were traveling with each other. Had my bow been super loud when I fired it it probably would have alerted that Second buck To my presence. A lot of times just shooting a deer doesn’t necessarily spook off a whole herd or even a single deer that may be in the area. Usually the sound of the one you shot running in falling peaks the interest of other deer and they will come in and investigate, a loud smacking sound of a string when you shoot oh wow Bow will definitely keep that from happening. Ultimately it probably comes down to preference. Most target bows don’t use string stops so they are already loud, most hunting bows are dampened as much as possible to be quiet for a lot of those reasons. But again as I said in the comment before was that the more noise equals more vibration which equals less comfort. The more you shoot the more this will become obvious on how desirable a quiet bow is.

      @Pat92346 4 роки тому

      @@ExploringCabinsandMines If I may chime in? Being new to archery is the key...you may miss completely, a quiet bow will sometimes allow a second shot without spooking animal. Also, a quiet bow will not "jump" an animal...they don't even know what missed or what hit them, often times....when an arrow flies by it's just like wind...unless it hits something that makes noise you can still stalk the same beast. If it hits some dirt or even a tree, it only makes a "tick" noise... unless the beast is on high alert, it will not even blink. The chewing of cud or leaves makes a louder noise in its head. On that note, archery is completely different than rifle hunting. You have to get much closer....YOU MUST BE SILENT & INVISIBLE & SCENT FREE... don't waste your time with velcro releases, I watched a review of a bow & guy had mic on his shirt, when he drew back, the mic picked up his velcro stretch & every other sound tenfold, just like an animal...... practice shooting in silence!!! Good luck!
