    • @v25467
      @v25467 Рік тому

@kevinarnold8634 lobotomies went on for over TWENTY years before that medical practice finally started getting phased out. Over 60,000 people who needed therapy and mental health care were instead funneled quickly into surgery; they were then mutilated and their lives were destroyed. At the time drs were insistent that removing lobes of the brain would cure their patients of all their ills. Parents were being encouraged to have their daughters lobotomized if they weren't showing an interest in traditional female ideals such as marrying and having children and they instead wanted to pursue male activities like college and voting. Getting your daughter lobotomized would make her become obedient and feminine, the way she was truly meant to be from birth. Even President Roosevelt bought into it and in 1941 (which was when he was actively serving in office btw), it was about ten years deep into lobotomies being regularly practiced and he consented to have one performed on his 23 yr old daughter after being pressured by outsiders that it would "fix" her wild independent tomboy attitude. Any of that sound familiar at all?
Just because they technically and clinically know how to do these procedures doesn't mean that those procedures automatically equate to a positive long term quality of life for the patients afterwards. Today we look back at lobotomies in abject horror and wonder how society could have let this happen to so many people for so long when it's clearly incredibly harmful. How could those Drs have been so stupid? How could this horrific experiment spread so far and wide that even the white house was affected by it? I fear that 100 years from now people will look back at these new experimental genitalia surgeries that have been performed on young people who's brain isn't fully developed yet, or mentally ill people who need psych treatment for trauma, etc and not amputation, (and to be clear, even if it's been around for 10 years-in the medical community that is still considered brand-new) and that they will views us with the same mix of horror and disgust and confusion that we today view those who allowed, even encouraged, lobotomies to happen.

I transitioned into a man about 8 yrs ago. Although I always wanted to be a “boy” was an underlining trauma response from losing my father at age 3. No one had the education of CPTSD and what I experienced all throughout my childhood/adult life. I never fully grieved my fathers death and I was trying to become a masculine figure to replace what I didn’t have. I also was over weight and bullied because of that. Never had a guy interested in me and the words of “I want to be a boy” turned into “why don’t I have a bf?” Once I started to realize women liked me more than men. I started dating women as a lesbian. Then I was still confused not even enjoying dating or being intimate with them. It was just the high of the chase and someone actually paying attention to me. After a breakup I instantly transitioned thinking if I was a “man” then maybe girls would like me and my life would be better. After high of the changes of hormones. I still was depressed and lost in life. Ended up addicted to drugs and chasing people. After really discovering all of this on my own. I really see that my transition was a trauma response… it is an identity issue that is MISSED. Although I don’t see myself as any gender I do wish to de-transition to find the girl I once buried to find what I was missing with my father. It really is bravery to take the vulnerability to de transition and admit/accept those harsh realities.
I’m glad more people are speaking about this.

And what is most absurd is they say this can't happen, that people can't be confused on who they are attracted to or who they feel they are. I myself could look at girls and think she is pretty and being bi was like the in thing when I was a teen, I tried a 3some with a couple and it was the worst experience of my life and in no way could I ever go down on a girl either, I was young and confused and like you had my own trauma growing up, this is why I know for certain that young minds can be confused about their sexuality. I hope you heal within and find some peace with everything.

Transsexual man with CPTSD, BPD, + here… My heart goes out to you. I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience. I am not detransitioned or planning on it, but I acknowledge that my trauma is a part of who I am, and I mean that in every way. I think this is the case for MOST people. Rather true transsexual or not, no one is acknowledging the background. Just ‘oh you wanna be a boy? here’s some testosterone!’ not including the wait time, it was so incredibly easy for me to get a prescription. I still wish I had proper treatment and therapy prior to starting my transition but regret does nothing for me. Maybe I would’ve turned out differently, maybe I would be the same. I can think of so many traumatic experiences that would make a vulnerable person think they are trans. For example, little boys seeing their sister being showed physical and emotional affection, consideration, love, etc… when every once in a while they get a pat on the back and a “good job son.” like if I was a girl people would love me. you know? If you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here for you. Sending healing vibes ❤️

Also I think it's getting harder and harder to talk about trauma and gender. I remember trying to talk to a young person in my life about their trauma needing to be addressed before steps were taken but because they'd become convinced it was through a lack of support it was the moment the conversation shut down and almost everyone else was like "naaaah itll be fine" and I don't think I've ever felt so frightened and impotent.

i started BC in my mid 20s because of very painful periods that i later learned were caused by ovarian cysts. i was on it for almost 4 years, and for almost the entire time i was on it, my already low sex drive disappeared completely and i literally couldnt orgasm. i also gained a lot of weight. when i stopped taking BC i realized just how much it was affecting me. my periods still havent returned to ‘normal’ over a year later. its been rough and i regret ever taking it.
i was never told any of that could happen; i mean i was old enough to know that hormones werent something inconsequential, but BC is so common and pushed so heavily that i figured it couldnt actually be anything bad or harmful.
i genuinely think that women are often just an afterthought when it comes to medical care, even when its sex-specific. unfortunately i think trans people are being similarly used and abused.

I wonder how their experience would have been different if they also had full depth, full sensation, and a naturally lubricating vaginal canal as I have. If they want a revision to restore all these things, I recommend Kamol Hospital. It’s not too late, many girls go there for revisions and are very very happy. So it’s inaccurate to say science/surgery is not capable of helping trans women achieve the body they desire. My vagina/vulva is wonderful and I am now complete.

Everyone should look up standard of care and guidelines in transitioning if you actually care like you’re pretending to. You don’t though. You just need to now use these 2 evil bitches to spread more hate against trans people. No doctor is performing a surgery because you walk in one day wanting to transition. These people are vetted immensely and will always have a therapist in the works for months. Also, the study she sites is really pathetic if you read thru it. It’s like saying heart failure patients die from their blood pressure medicine. No, they just have heart failure and are at a higher risk of death! Saying trans people (an at-risk for suicide population) die from suicide AS COMPARED TO CIS PPL AFTER SURGERY is very moronic and a terrible conclusion to form. That number would’ve been much worse had they compared trans people WITHOUT having completed surgery - as evidenced by many studies. I honestly think she’s just mad because she got botched and now has to lead a sexless, sad, conservative lifestyle. I think she’s an evil bitch arming conservatives with nonsense talking points and a ridiculous study. I’m a physician btw. Osteoporosis and scoliosis are both chronic in nature and do not simply appear after transitioning. Supplementing estrogen actually helps with calcium absorption and bone building.

Body dysmorphia vs gender dysphoria! Amazing point Blaire! That’s why I think therapy (non-gender affirming therapy but actual therapy) can help individuals work through some other underlying conditions (depression, anxiety, etc) AND help them decipher for themselves if they truly have gender dysphoria or possibly body dysmorphia which is actually super common in adolescent girls. Then that person can make an informed decision for themselves of whether or not they would like to proceed with these procedures

I've seen that sometimes young girls want to transition (not only because female puberty is like getting hit by a semi-truck. One day you're playing soccer with the boys and the next day you're being looked at differently and have unwanted attention from people and you don't "feel right" in your own body.) Because of trauma from their past. I've seen a couple people say they wanted to transition because of sexual abuse and that they felt like they could take back their power by being a man. I've also seen a video on the destruction of feminity and how we're telling young girls that feminity isn't powerful in its own way and that you should aspire to be more masculine.
It's all so sad since it's resulting in permanent mutilation and sometimes they don't even realize it until after the damage has already been done.

40:10 I’m glad you mentioned that part. About dressing as a charicature of a woman. Most women don’t look like Jessica Rabbit. The average woman doesn’t always have a full face of makeup, hair done up, slinky dress and high heels. When I see videos of trans women that is almost always the look they are trying to achieve. They don’t go for the casual look. They go for the over sexualized glamorous look.

Semi relevant here: I had a bunion surgery at 15 and another one at 19… My entire body is different from those surgeries and I am now 31. I was even told to never do a stand up job again, work out different, move different, wear different shoes for the rest of my life or risk injury (Not because of the bunions alone, but the reason they formed isn’t something that can be fixed).
It is insane to me how such a simple and technically “small“ surgery still has so many affects on my body and forever will, yet we are allowing children to drastically change their bodies natural inclination. STOP their puberty, introduce hormones their bodies are NOT built to handle, and permanently change their body parts. My gait is different, joints are different, stability and general mobility is different. Just from simple foot surgery. TRANS SURGERY AND HRT IS NO JOKE AND ITS NOTHING TO DO IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT.

@@BM-fz9yc I can honestly say that in my case it was necessary because they were really bad long before I had the surgeries. The reason that they were bad was because my tendon has just about zero stretch. It is rock solid literally. So I had to get it done, but because my tendon still is essentially all but immobile, The stretch on it due to the bunion ectomy‘s has caused pull in other areas. If you have bunions due to age, because you wear heels a lot, but you have pretty decent mobility in your tendon (a good way to check is sit in a squatting position with your toes pointed straight out, if your heels touch the floor you’re good) Bunionectomy, definitely go for it because bunions can cause a lot of issues. I never had that mobility in a crouched position, and I still don’t, so while the bunionectomy helped in some areas it has changed everything I mentioned before

Learning to be patient and also like your guest said think critically about things that have life long ramifications is so important. Most people go through so many changes mentally and physically during puberty and in to their 20s. However with age, increased knowledge, life experience we become more confident in who are and more self aware. And so it’s very understandable that many people end up regretting changing elements of themselves irreversibly.

I admire the courage to put yourself out on the internet and going into intimate details in order to prevent and warn others to not repeat mistakes, that is altruistic!
People who are different, feel different are accepted but people trying to force others accepting a lie is never going to be tolerated, this direction leads to dictatorships and endangers a whole society.
