As a biologist, one of the most distressing things to me, was when I found out that hormone therapy does not try to imitate the normal hormonal cycles. No estrogen cycle, no progesterone, no fsh or lh.
This is not making men female like in physiology, it's turning men into something that never evolved or existed. There's no way that our genetics can handle that long term.

I work with kids on a regular basis and I see the shit they go through and I do empathize with their struggle suffering and bad decisions. I teach biology and I help people with medical decisions a lot and it's not really for the money, it is because some of us do care a lot and I think most people care a little even if they get full of themselves often

I'm interested to ask if I may why you originally decided to go for it? Obviously there are plenty of reasons in the interview to make you change your mind so I'm interested to hear how you got into it in the first place. Also, did you detrans fully, or remain transitioned but just remain non-op? Thanks.

@@CosmicClaire99 I am still transitioned and live my life as a woman and I think originally the surgery felt mandatory to be a “woman.” Like if you’re really trans to the effect of viewing life “through the lens of a woman” so to speak of course you’d want the rest of the world to accept you and see you a certain way. Originally it just seemed like of COURSE I’m getting the surgery because here in Canada it’s extremely pushed, it’s actually covered by the government and when I asked different therapists and doctors, everyone painted it out as though it was the same vagina every other woman had. I even asked specifically about sex and they all seemed very uneducated on it but I remember one girl specifically said to me “oh yeah I hear sex is even better because it suits what you you envision in your head. So from then on it just seemed to be a “woman” (which of course it took a long time for me to accept the fact I will always be a trans woman, regardless of surgeries and hormones) the natural next step would be to have the anatomy of a woman.
To summarize it was definitely my own need to escape the judgement and shed the label of being transgender, and a mix of doctors and professionals talking the surgeries up so much.

Rather than allowing men & women to express themselves in a variety of ways they label & gender people by a set of societal stereotypes. I believe some people that feel like they don't fit in with their peers, have issues/trauma involving their peers, they might not identify with them & thus might feel that they are the other gender.

X & Y chromosome scientifically CAN NOT change, period. Facts don’t care about feelings… that is hard truth… Even still I identify as trans. I struggle with this every day because the truth is it can’t be possible scientifically….. I said all that to say that I Do not agree with what’s going on with the agenda being pushed by society. I do not agree with forced transitioning in children. I do not believe in the indoctrination of the young children, around the subject of transgender. These decisions being made for them and forcing parents to participate in the abuse of their children this IS child abuse. Where are the people that protect children??? Children’s lives are being ruined before they even get to live. The suicide rate is already 40% higher than that of the population, before and very often even after transitioning. Less than 2% of the population even identify as trans so that ratio is scary to think how much higher it will become as these abused children grow into adults.

Since I am ok with what I have become and comfortable with being myself, I barely miss being male anymore.
However, kids who are neither socially nor neurologically matured, should not permanently change their body. Transition should be for 21 or even 25 and older and it should be only an option, not pressured.

As well as unknown malaise. People are aloud to take risks for their procedure and medications, but it is only ethical when the patient understands the entire story. She was begging me for top AND bottom surgery, starting trans related fights with me all the time, pressuring me for blockers and T, and telling me that all my actual memories of her growing up as a girl were all forced on her and we all just had it wrong all along. All while being told by her therapist that I was the problem, and it would essentially be my fault if she did something to hurt herself. The minute she told me she was trans, I started doing my own research, and I terrified myself with stories like this one. The therapist wasn't having any of it. I love my kid, and I KNOW my kid, and she isn't a boy! She loved her dresses and playing in my heels. She loved the color pink and wanted long hair like "Tangled" (Rapunzel). She loved playing barbies and dolls. There was never a question one about being a boy or feeling like a boy or why am I not a boy. Not a single one. But I've got her telling her that we (society) forced all of that on her and her therapist was right there to confirm that for her. We left that therapist and went to someone new who had been in mental health for a long time, and it made a world of difference. They made a point of addressing her other issues (adhd, dep/anxiety, ocd) and not putting any focus on her being trans. She is still identifying and presenting as a boy, but she isn't so completely ruled by it and has stopped defending it so viciously. I hope that she realizes how dangerous this can be and that it isn't just a trend on tictok to feel relevant. This decision and these irreversible surgeries take deep soul searching and intense research that I just don't believe kids and teens are capable of ESPECIALLY with other untreated issues on board.
I guess the point I'm making is to say that the mental health field is not above pressuring and using shame tactics to force parents who are reluctant to comply.

Hormones are important for a healthy body. Menopausal women know this. We really need to talk to and listen to our female elders and not treat them with scorn. Lack of estrogen causes weak bones, mood imbalance(women get more aggravated with less estrogen), hot flushes and brain chemistry changes. Dementia is the icing on the cake here. Introducing it to the male body is not a great idea. Testosterone ravages the female body and causes vaginal astrophy and possible sterilisation. Dr's must layout the consequences of this and people need to know what they are signing up for. Kids should not be given hormones. They need to be an adult to make these decisions.

I'm now happily married to a man and trying to start a family, I also found the Lord 😊.
I know that in the case of taking hormones, that's a little different because of the physical consequences... But seeing as 17 going on 18 yr olds are going to do whatever they are going to do... The best advice I can give is to never stop loving, and letting your love be known. Always tell the truth, and don't cave on your morals. Be a strong role model in your own life, and eventually the person will hopefully recognize that.
Pray that the consequences of the person's decisions lead to repentance and that they return with forgiveness and love in their heart towards you.
I would also ask lots of probing questions, rather than just making statements. Try to get this person to discover the truth on their own. For example: "okay so you're really serious about these hormones huh? Well how about together, we can look into the side effects of these treatments, (Blaire's videos are also good resources) and when you're 18 if you're still convinced this is the right path for you, you can go that route."

I say it all the time. Detransitioner stories are IMPORTANT. They NEED to be told, they need to be heard, and they need to be considered, ESPECIALLY by people who are trans or think they might be trans. If anything they help us to consider aspects and positions and angles we may not have thought about before and either change our minds or further confirm how we feel. NO ONE's opinion is more important than anyone else's, and while I understand the frustration people feel at hearing 'what about the detransitioners?' when they're moving forward with their own transition, how it feels like one's existence, feelings, and decisions are being undermined by it, it's still VERY important to think about. Changing one's mind shouldn't be condemned, just as not changing one's mind shouldn't be condemned.
It's SO hard to find balanced information about bottom surgeries for both transwomen and transmen. How often complications arise, what those complications are, how they affect one's life. It's encouraged for people to not ask about it because it's so personal, and yes, it is personal, but it's also something that needs more light shone on it. There's so much information being withheld on top of so much that isn't even known, and we're not told that it isn't even known, it's just glossed over, if mentioned at all.
There is so little information out there about what happens with transitioning. What the results of certain procedures are. What the long-term effects of things can be. We're pretty much expected to do our own research and learn everything on our own if not just go with whatever little information doctors deign to give us, often because they aren't informed themselves. Hell, the last doctor involved in my transition wasn't even researched in it! And she admitted it! And people are going forward with transitioning in this dearth of information? OF COURSE we're going to have more detransitioners!
Detransitioners aren't saying people shouldn't transition. They're talking about their own experiences and what they weren't told, didn't think about, and were lied to about. What they didn't consider. The decisions they made that they found were wrong for them. The things that others should think about before their own transition in order to avoid the mistakes that were made.
Thank you Ritchie for speaking out, and thank you Blaire for having him on. I hope we can hear MORE detransitioner stories in the future, and ultimately have LESS of them forced to exist. Not to mention ALL of them are no longer demonised.

Boom! Reality. Oof. We need more of that on this issue. That said, you can 'live as [insert identity here]' and that should be fine, you're an individual you do you, but you will never actually be that thing - though you may have shared experiences. None of that means you should be bullied, nor should you be mislead or even lied to by those who "support" you.
    edit:
    HOLY S**T...
The repeated pressure to have such a destructive surgery is insane 😤
These people need a sturdy ground and the medical and scientific community should be reliable for that stability, but it's not and this is exactly why. They are too busy virtue signaling to offer objective common sense advice - like: no, you should not cut your hotdog off.

I dunno. You're right. But I disclosed this to my therapist...hey, I can be trans and live my life and I won't ever have xx chromosomes and I won't be a natal woman. Still, what harm is there to be called she/her and if you don't wanna cool just don't demean me? Or to wear what clothes I want? Or wake up in a body that makes me happier so I can actually contribute to this society we live in and help actual people? By insisting at every turn that I will never be X you don't do anything much. Gender dysphoria doesn't disappear. If we can acknowledge that I can live as I want but ok I will never be X that would be better.
I don't trust Blaire...she's always on some omission half truth bs ad hominem all round. Even when she's right there's still a gap. Which is why I can listen to other gender criticals including my therapist and agree and assimilate and make my informed choice but not Blaire. She's a massive liar I'm sorry to say

This is exactly why we need to advocate more for mental health rather than transitioning. Transition should be the LAST option. Both of you are so brave for addressing this.

I think a better thing to do than mental health, would be preventative care. Turn off your television and stop listening to the media. That will drive you crazy, and frankly, that's the main source of mental illness in the modern world.

AND HORMONES BECAUSE THEY ARE DANGEROUS SHOULD ONLY BE GIVEN LAST RESORT AND NOT AT THE REQUEST OF PATIENTS

It seemed this simple for a lot of people outside of the Trans community just years ago before the big explosion of mtf transition on social media platforms. I think since we were not trans ourselves it was assumed that we did not know what we were talking about. We are human though and know that messing around with hormones is very risky with no going back to normal.

Transitioning doesnt mean for everyone to get hormones or surgery. It means to come out as trans and needing to be accepted by your community
