My father taught me that if you are having conversation with a group of people, find a topic that everyone can talk about and avoid side conversations or only talk to certain people in that group. That’s etiquette.
What if one person in the group speaks to you directly (and all others are quiet ie a question?). Do you reply to that one person or involve the others?
2:22 Looks matter. Look the way you like. 5:12 Train your body. Have an open body posture, a good stance, maintain eye contact, smile more often, mind your hands. 7:52 Educate your mind.
Letting your daughter choose from 2 appropriate outfits will make her feel like she has choice (it also help her learn to make decisions!) and will make your life easier!
I started working in my confidence like a year ago and you couldn't be more right! I have another tip i'd like to share: doing things alone, i found that by doing things alone i was able to become more confident! I wasn't being judged because i know i wasn't judging other people, and that has helped me become a little bit more "fearless" of social interactionsince i struggle with social anxiety and that really boost my self confidence! :')
It’s important to educate your mind but I believe that at times of you think you cannot contribute to a conversation, you could at least listen and learn something. A confident person is also humble enough to accept that they may not know about something and are open to learn.
Thank you Jamila for today’s video. I would appreciate if you could teach us how to speak like you, softly, elegantly, with the right speed and intonation . I believe it is also very important piece of self presentation! 😊😊
One thing about the smile: although it does communicate friendliness and openness, in some countries such as Russia it may have the opposite effect and cause people to not trust you or think you are odd because it is less socially acceptable to smile at someone you are not close with.
@@thatonellamawhoissoobsesse8138 Being tan has nothing to do with anything that has to do with being western. Russia isnt a western country. If someone is loud or excited all the time, they might think they are from the US or UK or, at the very worst, just not very bright. It would be a little weird to smile at a stranger or to smile at a customer who one doesnt know well. It comes off as cheesy or trying too hard. They might be suspicious that you are hiding something.
Happy Teachers’s Day to all UA-cam teachers who works hard to just enlightened our path and help us to clear doubts also thanks to UA-cam to provide such a beautiful platform where we can learn, earn, and entertain ourselves 🥰🙏
Thank you Ms. It's so calming to listen to you. I love learning things so the last part really rings a bell. It's such a confidence boost to know what people are talking about !
This video gives a lot of food for thought~ Some of your points of view merge with the common perception, yet I always find yours authentic ✨ It feels like some of them are linked to one: some people would naturally communicate a body language of confidence if they feel beautiful in their overall look, for instance. I would even feel confident when having a certain scent on my body; confidence may be connected to some of our senses being positively triggered. One thing that I agree with and would like to add something to, if I may, is that educating the mind also happens when being involved in a conversation which you lack knowledge about. The example of the Harry Potter book is very relatable… but there exists similar situations where the persons involved would happily educate you on something. Being willing to learn from them would be a sign of confidence; you are aware that you do not know one topic at the moment it is being discussed, and you publicly express it by asking questions. I would often ask questions after presenting a topic I am supposed to know a lot about, because we learn from people. It shows that you want to engage with the person and not just display your knowledge. And you can raise questions that she/he had not thought about; which would encourage her/him to learn more 🙂
Hehe, Jamila moping in pajamas! Your mom is so sweet, searching high and low for a copy of Harry Potter for you! These are great tips! After watching your etiquette videos and reading some books on etiquette I started to take the time to present myself well FOR MYSELF. It made such a difference, as I had always been a frump when alone and only dressed up, did nails, hair, etc when with others. For me, the most important aspect of confidence has come from knowing that when I feel good, others pick up on that. Like you said, look good for yourself. Another thing that helps is remembering our uniqueness. That we are each beautiful and interesting individuals in and of ourselves, without anything added. That we owe it to ourselves and all the time and effort that has been invested in creating our being, from birth to adulthood, to recognize our importance and individuality. With this knowledge it's almost impossible to not have confidence. 😊
your voice is so calm & soothing. do tell me can someone without patience do this, i mean the well etiquette? you look so proper. i really need your patience & calmness
Thank you for this outstanding video on how to build confidence. You packed so much in only 13 minutes. Confidence has been my weak spot for as long as I can remember. I have always been perceived as the nervous one, especially when I was younger. People didn’t understand what I was trying to say, and my facial expressions and posture looked inapproachable. Because of my mom and all those videos on elegance, I have been improving. Yes, appearance makes a world of difference, and I feel more confident and productive when I am presentable. I am in my 40s now and firmly believe that education doesn’t stop at your last degree. I naturally learn at work because I am a proofreader. For example, I have been learning about business and culture from the material, and it feels like I am getting paid to learn from some of the most prestigious business schools. 😉 BTW, you look more presentable in your pajamas and hair up in a bun than so many people I see in public. You always look presentable and elegant. Period. 💕😊
Tysm Jamila for giving tips on how to become more confident because I am very shy person and I love your videos so much you are my inspiration♥️♥️😍😍🙈🤗☺️🤗🤗
I believe any situation whether a topic of conversation arises that I am not knowledgeable on is an opportunity to learn. If I do not know about the subject, I state that I do not know about that and I will ask questions out of curiosity to learn more. I think people greatly appreciate it and feel that you're genuinely interested, it is not necessary to always know something about everything to be able to converse and be part of a conversation.
Dear Jamila, I was waiting for your new video. When I saw the notification, quickly opened my UA-cam. Thank you for all of your lovely and useful videos.
I think the idea of an Etiquette Movie club sounds great! Most of how I speak and think is influenced by movies (and books too! I also felt out of place back then because I haven't read Harry Potter haha)
Love you content ❤️ Can you do a video on proper outdoor picnic etiquette? In terms of what is ideal to eat, the picnic basket, cloth and glassware to use? Thank you 🙏

Great advice - thank you! So true about the smiling more and having hands occupied. I wonder what the psychology behind having hands occupied means, because it does make me feel more comfortable when I do that.

Indeed. Also engage in a dialogue, do not make it a monologue.
Also decency and common sense. Which surprisingly it lacks in many people 🙁

Really? wow that is crazy. Nice to know, because I am always smiling.
That's quite not true. People tend smile less at strangers there, but smiling and friendliness are absolutely socially acceptable.
What about foreigners visiting Russia? Like
What if they're tanner but hold obvious Western foreigner traits? ie. Loud, excited plus the smile?
@@CitricAcidBurn As a Russian I can confirm this.
