I've had one since August 24 and man it's the best thing on two wheels I've ever ridden. It's the perfect mix of sporty but comfortable, aggressive but easy to ride. I don't know if I'll ever get rid of it. Mine has a Racefit system and tune now running 120whp (what's that around 135hp?) and it's absolutely mental, hooligan, I love it so much
After riding the new MT-09 and XSR-900 back to back at a demo day I much preferred the rider triangle, ride characteristics and looks of the XSR. It would be great, and I'd be all over it, if Yamaha produced an XSR-900 SP. Here's hoping.
Nice bike! I'd love to try one. My only issue with the spec is the keyless ride. I've had far more issues with keyless ignitions than with a standard key. It's just dumb.
I've got a speed triple with keyless. 3 years and no problem. I like that I can leave the key in my inner jacket pocket at all times and never need to use it except once a week for gas. I don't worry about losing it for the very reason that it stays in the same place 99.9% of the time. If I lost it, you can start the bike by holding one of the spares to a special spot on the bike. So far, I definitely prefer keyless.
This honestly looks like such a fantastic bike. Not just because of the core motorcycle but all the bells and whistles as well. I hope Honda will take notice and stop cutting corners on their bikes. I mean the CB1000 Hornet that isn't even out yet doesn't have a 6 axis IMU or cruise control. What the heck, Honda?!? Yep I think I will be moving to the Yamaha team for my next bike.
I have a 2023 mt09sp and I love it! I'm pretty tall though. And I barely fit on it. And from what I can tell on the new 24, it would be even harder for me to fit on it. So i'm basically stuck on the 23. But that's okay, because I really like it!
Somewhat misleading to not mention the shock and fork are the exact same model between the two version, all that changes is the degree to which you can adjust them.
I tried the MT-09 Y-AMT model, it's pretty cool. I wish Yamaha would bring Y-AMT to the MT-09 SP model, it would be great if they still kept the manual clutch and shift lever like Honda's e-clutch
Doesn’t look like a slip on is possible…would need a complete system, any word on whether this is true and what is available/$$$ for the complete exhaust?
Beautiful bike, but for a guy like me who never rides it to any type of high threshold handling capabilities, I think the normal suspension would be fine for me.
Great review. I’m in the uk and want to ride the dragon. Is there anywhere near there I could hire mt09 sp ? Also recommended accommodation for bout 14 days . Thanks.
This is not a practical do-it-all motorcycle... it is a middleweight-class sport bike which requires you to wear a backpack to carry your lunch... and you WILL get blown around badly on larger highways
Why is this yet another review of this line of MT-09s that seemingly ignore the several that came before it? Something like, they've always had upgrades to suspension etc, now they have further upgrades to the same parts plus engine brake control added for this year, etc. It's already going to be known as one of the best bikes on the market, build off its history.
LIGHTING- Dangerously insufficient. In dense urban traffic NO ONE will see those tiny little twinkie headlights. People are going to get HURT from this new fad.
yeah, really a turn-off all these middleweight bikes getting laden with electronics. fine to have them as an extra option, but at least offer without. would be nice.
They fixed my number 1 complaint, the double seat! This traditional seat configuration looks way better than last years! Just need to put a round headlight now and it’d be perfect!
I just got my SP and never been so happier. Yamaha knocked it out of the park with this one!
Great exciting bike. The MT09 and SP keep getting better and better

yep, i got this bike and lost fob while riding, New fob is on back order till November.
@@Stormycloud701 ugh. Sorry to hear that but it's understandable. Does Yamaha have a back-up to get it started so you can ride?
@@Brad-RB Yes, you can enter a code
@@Brad-RB yea just have to enter key code that came with your paper work, takes about 55 seconds to enter in by holding switch in.

Awsome price, in italy is 13K + registration .....
Dont forget the R1M paint scheme. It’s beautiful

Those indicators look the same as on the Gen3. The ones that fall out if you so much as breathe on them whilst walking past.
Thanks! Great Video!
You need to change the title to MT 09SP. :)
would like a review on the MT09-Y-AMT too
Video title reads MT-10 SP, (confusing).
On any SP model from any manufacturer I expect forged wheels. I know Yamaha is meeting a price target but for a few hundred more ... wheels!
Doesn’t look like a slip on is possible…would need a complete system, any word on whether this is true and what is available/$$$ for the complete exhaust?
Yamaha has been using the same exact exhaust on their MT-07 and 09's since release, so yeah most likely a $1000 full system

Yes

In some ways yes and some no. Either are great.
@@hiddendragon415 which would you choose??
Would you choose this over a Street Triple R/RS?
TOP BIKE !!!!!
How do you remove the rear seat without a key? Thanks
The fob has a key that slides out.
No, it takes a key.
@@Stormycloud701 the fob has a key? I mean, that's funny, no?
be nice to have a stripped down version without all the leccys. prolly will test ride one though next year, though...
So good you’ll think you’re on an MT10!
You're in the Tennessee area of North Carolina? I've never been there.
Electronics aside from display are virtually unchanged from gen 3.
How. The graphic and he changed. 4 to choose from
Completely different bike on gen 4 model
Why does it look like a CF moto now
More likely the other way around.
They all look like robots
It would be worth it if they would show up on dealer floors. At this rate I’m asking for money off since it’s now a model year leftover
I've been looking for one for months with no dice in California
MT10?!
What's an MT10 ?
The MT09's bigger brother loosely based on the R1 engine.
@@ironken1796 Thanks, I only knew of 7 and 9.
lol you dont need the sp if youre just riding on the street. the brakes and suspension are jsut fine in the non-SP version
SP looks sexier tho

LIGHTING- Dangerously insufficient. In dense urban traffic NO ONE will see those tiny little twinkie headlights. People are going to get HURT from this new fad.
I’ve seen these around LA. They are more than bright enough. The diameter of the headlights isn’t equal to their projection or candela.
the upgraded suspension and breaks are good, get rid of the other electronic BS, to much to go wrong and most of it won't be used.

Wait until you see how many Pennies it will cost you when the electronics fail
It's a Yami mate not a ktm
I agree, that the MT09 is a phenomenal bike, but is so ugly. Subjective!??
I think so because I love how it looks, well, for a naked bike.
