This is the reason I sold my mt10 and bought the new mt09. Such a good daily and plenty of useable punch for the road. Love how fuel efficient it is also, seriously like 40% better fuel economy than my mt10.
@@yosefm170 yes easily, although it does need the comfort seat and a big screen for wind protection. Doesn’t compare to the tracer though when it comes decent length tours.
@amococ2487 1. The wind at around 90mph is a joke, actually horrible! No i dont want a silly looking fly screen. 2. The bikes are known for speed wobbles after 110mph serious wobbles, check in forums everyone's talking about it... yamaha should of recalled them, they aint safe. 3. The suspension is 💩 front and back On the good side i love the engine and im seriously thinking of getting the r9 when it comes out
Mt 07 2015 had for about 2years now and its nothing but comfort and fun. Looked at the 09 but went for 07 an it hasnt disappointed 1 bit. The Mts are a great bike 🏍❤️
Went from an FZ09 and ZX14R to an MT07 and ZH2. The FZ09 (MT09) is a perfect all around street bike. The MT07 is a perfect stunt bike and economical cruiser. The ZH2 is just unreal as a naked bike. All Japanese manufacturers make the best bikes/bang for the buck.
I've had my 2020 MT09 since new off the showroom floor. It has a few tasteful mods/upgrades and I absolutely love it. Perfect for commuting, a lot of power, more than you'd ever need for the street (in the past I owned several suberbikes). The MT09 is amazing on fuel (5.6L/100kms even when gunning it everywhere, gotten as low as 4.6L/100kms). In my ice fluo colour scheme she turns heads everywhere I go, and the sound is just a true Yamaha symphony, especially with the full Akrapovik exhaust and factory quick shifter.
I’ve got the 07. I’ve got a Ti exhaust, k-tech suspension and a mild ecu tuneup to smooth her out. 70bhp is plenty for me. Disadvantages: crap seat, throttle travel too long (R6 tube fixes it when I get round to it someday) and the tank shape funnels cold air over the gonads, requiring insulation via a hat down the trousers. Everything else with the bike is spot on, it’s a very good little machine.
The mt09 is the best street fighter ever, inside big cities nothing, nothing can catch you if you have enough experience, the weight and the power and the handling is really amazing ❤
Can’t go wrong with any one of those bikes. As much as I love the sound of the MT10 I don’t like the looks so most likely would go with theMT09 and save some money as well. Great video!
The way you put it you are right. But maybe not so much 😊 I owned a 2022 MT-09 SP and tuned it to 123whp. Very powerful very enjoyable in the canyon, and on mode 2 very pleasant city riding. Now I am riding a 2023 MT-10 fully tuned with 169whp, FKR 102 Ohlins front, TTX 36 GP Ohlins at the rear. Brakes are not worst than the rest of the big bikes withe exception of the expensive Ducati. Though the suspension I have is much better than any of them. Honesty in the canyons there is NOTHING to catch this monster!! Especially when there are short to middle straights and a lot of twisty roads. Yes cost me the same as an aprilia tuono factory, but my setup is lights ahead of them...
Having owned a MT07 and now a MT09 SP. I'd say the MT07 is such much fun to be a hooligan on. That said I prefer the MT09 SP, the Triple sounds incredible and I love the cruise control on highway commutes.
Hey I need your opinion, I have a fz07 and don’t stunt on it just speed in straight lights for a little bit or off a red light lol . I’ve been thinking of switch to the 09. Would you recommend it for the speed and better for a passenger ?
@@Edgar-bj5cr Yes I'd recommend the MT09. The MT07 is perfect for a hooligan bike, but I've noticed the MT09 SP is much more relaxing for me on my daily commute into Atlanta. Cruise control saves my wrists and as a chef I work with my hands all day. I'd say it's close between keeping a MT07 and getting a base MT09 as it comes down to your normal everyday riding. That said if you're buying a MT09 and can swing the extra like 1200 to 1500 the MT09 SP is absolutely worth it. The suspension alone is a huge upgrade and if you priced the parts to upgrade a MT09 to match it's SP variant you'd spend more than just buying the MT09 SP outright. I honestly think the MT09 SP is the perfect daily commute and get around naked bike. Power to have fun on the highway, torque to run round in the city, excellent handling for mountain twisties and a comfortable riding position. I really can't see myself ever getting rid of my MT09 SP.
@@Frank_Torreyou talking the 3rd gen SP right? I really like the 2nd gens (especially my 07) across the lineup, I don’t think I’d be buying one if the gen-3’s any time soon. But how are you finding it?
@@Edgar-bj5cr00% 09 just if you're looking at older ones you want a 2017+ and even they are still iffy. Had my front tire blowout and my suspension rebounded viciously and set me flying a good 50ft, I was hospitalized for over 2months. The new 3rd gens fix all the old issues. You can also pick up a used Speed Triple 1050 R for SUPER cheap nowadays if you want that triple howl. Have seen the 2014-15's for as low as $6K and they're making around 130HP with 81lb/ft while I have seen the updated 2016+ for around $8-13K depending on the newer you go and they're making 140HP. Speeds are SUPER comfortable and incredible for cruising. A 2016-17 1050 R for around $8K would be my suggestion they're an absolute steal at that price.
@@Bahle_Gaji I honestly love my MT09 SP. It's the smoothest triple I've ever had. I've rode ever bike in the MT lineup besides the MT10 and the MT09 SP is my favourite. The handling is incredible and it's so easy to lean at any speed. IMO it's perfect for technical mountain road riding and your daily commute and riding around in the city. I've yet to try a track day with it but I'm confident it wouldn't let me down.
I tried the MT07 and MT09. Both are fantastic bikes, but the MT09 is two steps ahead: better engine, almost the same weight, better brakes, better suspension and more electronics. I can not imagine that someone needs more power, torque and performance that the MT09 provides. Have not tried the MT10 yet, I imagine that it has to be a blast, but only if you want an inline four I would prefer this bike versus the MT09.
I rode my buddy’s fz09 yesterday and I can’t imagine riding a naked bike with more power than that (115hp). Granted I’m a new rider and own an mt 03 but still… That thing had me giggling and laughing like a little kid.
@@ryann6919 anorher fantastic bike. I tried one last year and I liked it a lot. Engine is very smoooooooth... and more comfortable than the MT09. However, the response of the three cylinder engine is more exciting.
I got the baby MT which is perfect for my hometown where the roads are narrow and lots of traffic, i enjoy it massively also it got the best look of all the MT series
I owned an MT09 (previous gen) for 3 years and then bought the MT10. The MT10 is larger and feels more substantial and comfortable. That power is addictive. Can't have too much power!
I've had an MT10 for over 7 years now. Absolutely the best, most fun, and totally reliable bike I've ever owned. If you've never ridden one, you should try one.
@rogerkay8603 Yep, you're right. Unfortunately, the Yamaha styling department isn't as good as their engineering side. It is difficult to describe the MT10 as beautiful.
I have a 2022 SP close to 20k km. Hasn't missed a beat, the power never gets old but can comfortably commute and even tour a bit on it. The electronics makes riding it idiot proof.
@@wojciechkubik2247 The 09 is rock solid in a straight line. It can feel slightly twitchy at speed on a long sweeper due to the short wheelbase compared to even a XSR but it's never dangerous. I think the newest 09 has a slightly longer wheelbase. The 10 sounds great, smooth engine, possibly more power than is practical to enjoy and is thirsty. Best test ride them both.
Been riding race bikes( race dirt bikes) for a good amount of years now and went on the streets on my buddies bike last summer. Wanna get my first bike as an mt09sp or a mt07. I’ve been told equally to get either one. I’m comfortable on bikes but I’m torn between which one. I’m a bigger guy hence ppl recommending the 09sp for suspension and that extra bit of power. What’s your opinion and do you think I would want more after a short period of time with the mt07, thank you!
The MT09 is the best of the bunch I think from my test rides. Plenty fast enough without being totally bonkers, and very refined manners as an everyday ride. When my PCP is up on my CBR650R Ill give the MT09 great consideration. Great review Bob.
Thats the exact switch I've done 2 years ago. 09 is so good even with some unfortunate TPS problem and really bad Yamaha customer service I still think it was well worth it and now I'm struggling to find better a motorcycle to be fair :D
I had all three and would buy the mt09 again. Mt07 was fun but lacked the power I was looking for. Mt10 is fast and planted nicely in corners etc. but the mt09 is just so much fun messing around and it just sounds the best.
Ive got a 2023 MT10. Ive done 4k miles in little less than 3 months. Absolutely love it. Full exhaust, and ECU flash. The sound and torque is amazing. Recently got back from Tail of Dragon. Im absolutely in love with this bike. Wheelies for days, and an absolute beast in the mountains. I liked the MT09 alot, but it didnt do it for me. The right side engine casing annoyed me alot with how far it sticks out
The MT10 is on my list for a second bike. It should be a blast in the twisty roads here in Nashville area. Definitely better roads than Dallas where I used to live.
@keltecdan yea you have some of the best roads in the nation around you. I'm in Charlotte. We go up to Robbinsville, NC 3-4 times/year. We ride the Dragon, Cherohala Parkway, and Moonahiners. MT10 with the gearing, torque and decent stock suspension made it a blast. The S22 tires are really great too. Ive had more fun on the MT10 than any of my other 7+ bikes I've had
I have owned all three bikes, and can confidently say the 09 is the best one by far. It’s fun being able to use all the power and scratching the ceiling.
I went for MT-10. Apart of the fuel consumption (8-10L/100km in city) and heating a lot in the traffic jam on hot days, I don't have any problem with that. And you have "unlimited" power.
@super1234567891011 I wish I could. This is London with small lanes, many time there is no way to go anywhere. Once happened last summer, I was standing in the same spot for over 40 minutes with the other few bikers. We couldn't even turn around for go somewhere else. Also, lights are not syncronized. I'm riding 5-20 seconds, then waiting 2 minutes at the red light. I hate this city.
Love my mt10. Switched from fz07 and will never go back. The gas milage doesn’t mean much to me because I ride it for max 5 months of the year. Only on the weekend most of the time. The weight makes highway speeds very manageable. The power makes adding a passenger so enjoyable because the power is still there. The sound of the cp4 with no cat and a tune. Ughhhhh. So good.
Good to hear seems like everyone loves the 7, but I do a lot of double up and probably 90% of the time I am on CA highways doing 80+ , so was thinking 10 may be the move.
Been riding my 2022 mt07 for a year now and i absolutely love it. I personally like the shape of the lcd screen more. The tft I’m sure is awesome but it looks like it was just stuck on there
I had a 2016 FZ07 for 3 years and I absolutely loved that bike. Never ending smiles & had no plans of selling it anytime soon. My Dad unfortunately laid it down (he is okay) but the bike was not. Sold the FZ and bought a 2023 MT09 and it is a FANTASTIC bike. I absolutely love it and can't wait to get an exhaust on it this winter!
A little more detail on the MT-09 vs MT-07: Quick shifter is up and down and comes as standard. Drive modes as standard (1 to 4) Rider aids has a customise mode (M) You have to go for the SP to get upgraded suspension and cruise control. I use my MT-09 to commute from city center to city center along the motorway and day trips at the weekends. Great bike
Have the 22' SP here in the states. Wonderful bike with the external rear preload/compression adjustments and easy to access rebound at the back of the rear shock/spring. Cruise Control is great for when I'm on the highway(motorway) out here when travelling more than 10 miles(16 km) out. Plus being 6' tall I felt somewhat cramped on the MT-07.
MT-07 is just pure fun. Feels like a big supermoto. It’s raw and torquey. It won’t scare you. It’s fun to toss around. It’s an amazing stunt bike. Can’t say the same about the other two. They’re just faster and a lot of bike to handle. They just don’t have the same “fun factor” the 07 has. Also, imo, the CP2 sounds the best. The CP3 screams up top. And the R1 engine is obviously amazing. But that CP2 from idle to just rompin on it will never get old.
Had the 700 when I decided litre bikes where too much for my advancing years, chopped my SV1000s for one and loved riding it and customising it. Now have the Moto Velocity based 900LC, and love it - hard to see what can pry it from my fingers tbh. Always been a case of what Yam next, am allied to the brand from my first 250LC (RD250LC, RZ250LC, TZR250, MT-03 (660), SZR660, TRX850 (x2), VTR1000 (x2), SV1000S, XSR700, BMW F800GT, XSR900)
Im going for my A2 license and i have to do my test& lessons on a 35KW MT-07, gotta say it’s a lovely bike with a crazy amount of torque even with the 35kw version and is a lot of fun to drive, also easy to drive
Loved reading all the comments and if I may add, I've just started riding bikes with my first ever one being MT15. I hope my journey accelerates to one of these in future, preferably the MT09. Much love to all. Thanks for this video❤
I'm pretty sure many of us would love to see a middleweight shootout between the MT-09, Street Triple R, Duke 890, Kawasaki Z900, Tuono 660, Ducati Monster, CB750 Hornet & GSX-8S. (yes ik hornet and gsx are ranked lower on the spec sheets, but they haven't released a 100hp+ middleweight in quite a while) Please make it happen!!
@@OtterplusWhere I live, a Tuono 660 with an IMU is more expensive than the MT-09 so it is the competition. I agree with you on the Hornet and GSX-8s: much cheaper and much less performance than the MT-09.
@@eskemeldgaardkrogh4145 price ≠ performance. Going by price alone, a honda cb1000r here is more expensive than a mt10sp in other countries. Performance-wise the tuono is on the lower end of middleweights.
We just completed 5500 miles using My ATAS & my Bros MT09, He totally loves it, Great on fuel, Fun as hell & a great all rounder that can do the miles if needed..
I am 174 cm in height and find the MT07 too cramped, the XSR 700 would be a better option. I own an XSR900, the motor is awesome, why would you need more power?
As a owner of a MT 07 2014, it has the enough power for everything, too bad lack some great feature from the MT09 like cornering ABS, and slipper clutch.
Bought a mt-09 over a year ago here in delaware USA. Have ridden EVERY single day since. Even rode it the one snowfall we got this year. 26,000 miles in 1 year.. it's my daily driver but I CANNOT put her in the garage without feeling bad and lonely. I'm going for 250,000 miles on this bike, wish me luck
My first bike was an '18 mt07. Traded it back into the dealer 2mo later for an '18 mt09. Did almost every upgrade to the 09 you could at the time, full exhaust, front and rear suspension, ecu flash, bunch of cosmetics, etc. Rode the mt09 for 4yr, sold it, then picked up a '22 mt10. Looking back I should have started on the mt09 based on previous experience riding dirt bikes. I really enjoyed the mt09 for what it was, but i was craving more. The gen2 was really behind in electronics, and quality components compared to kawasaki, triump, and ktm at the time. I really like the mt10 for the power, ergonomics, electronics, and sound. I may have considered another mt09, but to me they look like rubbish now. My current riding consists of country roads and highway and the mt10 handles them the best imo. If Yamaha ever decides to overhaul the look of the mt09, I may be interested, but currently i just don't vibe with the gen3 or gen4.
MT10 is absolutely horrid in mileage tho, so idk how you'd say it's better for country roads or highway lol. MT09 tackles those roads easily with decent consumption. Idk why people would really need the power of the MT10. Only thing I'd say is a big plus is the cruise control
The MT07 would be my pick, but it needs a set of more aggressive camshafts, Yamaha shortchanged it in that department. You can pick up close to 10rwhp from cams and a thinner headgasket, and get the hp into the mid 80's at the wheel which IMO with slightly stiffer fork damping is right where it should be. mid 80's-100rwhp is the fun zone in my opinion for a reasonable road going bike. It's fast enough to have fun, but not so fast that you feel the need to go triple digits everywhere to get a feel for it.
I've mulled this over but concluded the best route for me would be a full system, filter, dial in the standard cams and a flash to match. I really wouldn't want to lose that bottom end that makes this motor so much fun. If you want to move the power up the rev range, I guess you could buy a Hornet 😁
I had an MT 09 several years ago and I loved the engine, the triple is soooooo tasty but I could not really bond with the bike so I solf it on after a year. I have owned 2 MT 10s and 1 was an SP and goodness that engine is simply amazing but I found myself cruising at 180kph when I was sure I was at around 130kph. Tooooo fast for me now I judged but the MT 10 is stunning!!!! Have not tried the 07 yet.
Had an XSR 900 a few years ago and while an awesome bike, it was a bit squirrely at highway speeds with some wind. My current 2021 MT10 is rock solid. Just took it up the Sea to Sky highway to Pemberton from Vancouver, here in BC, Canada and it's basically glued to the road at any speed. Simply ridiculous haha!!!
@jazzboy when they updated the mt09 platform in 2021 the xsr got much improved handling and a big electronics upgrade as well as making that cp3 even better
@shanemartin3307 all great bikes. Just have a long torso and become human sail so a bit more weight of the MT10 keeps me planted. Also have an FJR1300ES for long hauls.
I bought a 2023 MT-07 because I’m a beginner rider and wanted to not feel like the bike is trying to kill me. I hope to sell it in a few years and step up to the MT-09. That said, I absolutely love every second I am on the 07! It’s a ton of fun.
yeah the 9 for me was a banger .... wish i never sold it. i thought about getting a 10 but as you say you cant really open that bike up on the roads whereas the 9 you can batter it all day long.
in 2020 I road tested the MT10, awesome bike but I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground, and was concerned for my licence, I also tested the Tracer 900GT at the same time (as I wanted a bike for a bit of touring too) , which really was fast enough on the road, but more engaging to ride, with that great triple sound and as it was also on a discount it was a no brainer.'Also thought build quality was better on The Tracer/MT09. I have since had a full arrow system fitted and a remap, and is goes and sounds great. Must be a triple thing for me as I also loved my Triumph Speed Triple... It keeps up with my mates bigger 1000cc plus superbikes when we ride down to Spain through France each year (avoiding motorways), plus it has the added advantage of tank range (and fitted panniers for the trip). One of the lads has an MT10 and he is always worried about running out of fuel (Empty 10 🙂). I have also ridden the MT07, which was fun too. I also had a go on an MT09 SP when mine was in for service, I really loved the down shifter/Blipper, the only thing that I wish mine had fitted. To be fair all 3 are great bikes but I am glad I got the Tracer 900 GT..
Nice movie. thnx! I do agree! I ride a 2022 09SP and I just love it. It's my second MT09, before the SP I owned a 2020 MT09. The 2022 is definitely better; faster cornering and better feeling in the front, but it's not easy to get the suspension right. The recommended fabric suspension adjustments are a bit too hard for the road, especially the front. And if you ride it with 2, you need to adjust again... The secret is to find the good compromise... Also, my previous bike, the MT09 2020, was more 'easy' to ride. Less feeling in the corners, but also less aggressive and more forgiving, especially at high speed. A steer damper on the 2022 SP is not an unnecessary option to get the same 'safe' feeling' at high speed. But what an amazing bike! It makes me smile every time I ride it....
Got one of the first the mt09 sp 21 in my country when is launched, and, in the middle weight segment it is for me far the best bike. That tork is insane and useable, instead of the Mt10 i had test, no power until you get your permit taken. Bref, mt09 sp is love on 2 Wheels
I owned a FJ 09 Yamaha. The engine is great, and it's a very good bike. But I almost list it on the highway one day as it went into a wobble. It also has a very stiff ride. You get bounced around a lot by the bumps, which is why I sold it.
I bought the 09. Best of all worlds. Light, flickable, powerful and psychotic as hell, and has a capability the 10 doesn't have - the ability to pass a gas pump.
In my opinion, the Mt07 is not really an option since the release of the new bikes like Trident, GSX 8 and Hornet 750. The Mt09 is a great bike, although personally I do have an issue with its looks. As for the Mt10 - more than 120 HP are needed for your ego and not for speed on the road.
I bought a 2023 MT10SP... but I test rode the XSR900 (didn't have an MT09 demo). To be honest, if I wasn't so set on the electronic Ohlins, the XSR/MT09 is absolutely the best bang for buck bike on the market. It was heaps of fun and, if I'm completely honest, I probably felt a little more confident pushing the XSR closer to the edge of its performance capability. They had a really good discount on the MT10 I bought, but if I were paying full retail, it would be MT09 every day of the week. I rode the Gen1 MT09 back in the day and felt at the time the Triumph STR was a better bike, but having ridden the latest Gen XSR, all the quibbles I had with the bike back then have been fixed.
MT07/FZ07great stunt bike cheaper than other stunt builds. Reliable, Fun, Torque, any year. Down fall is front forks but add thicker oil or replace those springs. MT09 torque/Fun/fast enough to get you away or get your license taken. MT09SP cruise control, better suspension than the regular MT09. MT10 auto bots transform a little heavier but faster yet a cruiser but not as fast as other Naked Bikes. At the Liter Naked class it’s slower but very durable and reliable.
I really like my 2022 MT-09. Only wish the pegs were adjustable farther foward for my build. I feel a little cramped in my knees. One of my all time favorite bike was my Yamaha 2005 FZ1. The 5 valve engine was marvelous throughout the rev range. And the suspension could handle rough roads at a good clip. But the number one thing I liked was the styling and the ergonomics. More upright like its UJM liter bike heritage. I would buy the a MT-10 tomorrow if it was just like my beloved FZ1 2005 with the latest upgrades. Perhaps my age is showing. I spent the 80's on UJM standard liter bikes. Comfortable, lots of Torque. Handling wasn't great but we thought it was. The latest remake of the 1982 Katana is close but not as refined. Cheers
It's the looks that destroy them for me. The 2016 version of the MT-09 was beautiful. Edit: Tried out an MT-07 today (older one with old screen) and the thing fehlt incredibly cheap. The gears don't know where they wanna be. False neutrals. Indicator knob felt flimsy and didn't always work correctly,... The engine is nice and all but it's not a bike I would recommend to anyone.
For city (and close by) the MT07 is the perfect size. If you are planning more highway riding go bigger, but for 90% of riding the 07 is best. More affordable.
Can't beat it especially in fuel economy, it goes further without need to worry about the next refill especially if the route goes deeper where gas station isn't available... I'll be a bit worried for that if I'm on the 889cc & above
Had a Yamaha xs 850 Triple in the 80s Pull 90 in second.. Was called the poor man's bmw in the day. Triples are all about pulling power.. Took it from England to Yugoslavia over the Alps.. via Berlin. Away for a month. Never missed a beat. Had a 750 before that And an LCRD Before that wheelie machine
I wanted an MT 10 alas insurance said otherwise. So I got a shiny blue XSR 900 all I can say is I'm very happy with it. Yamaha undoubtedly making some of the best engines in motorbikes right now.
The whole line up is great if anyone threw me the keys to any each iteration of the MT i would be happy. What most people dont realise though is the difference between the r1 and the mt10 is the engine is the same but the gear box ratios are different so the mt10 tops out sooner despite sprocket changes etc but not that imagine people would be maxing out their bikes on the road its always just nice to know😅
Rode both MT07 and MT09 in the Alicante hills 🇪🇸 😎 and 9 way more accomplished and stable but the 7 way more fun and chuckable chasing the 9s and rolling on hard leaned over in the hairpins, preferred the sound of the twin especially on decel. Front end weakest point on 7 and rear easy to lock up without a slipper
The 07 is a blast because it is just so freaking raw. When you Ride it hard it scares the shit out of you because it is super unstable at the rear, and the fork doesnt cope with anything but perfect tarmac
Getting my licence as we speak and driving the MT-07 at my local driving school. Seeing as I´ve never driven a motorbike or even moped, it feels like a rocket
Im taking my DAS next year and once ive passed im hoping to get me an MT09, lots of riders say the thing is with bikes is you soon get used to a bikes power and how it handles. and so boredom can kick in quite quickly leaving you wanting more, so this got me thinking why bother with the MT07 ? just go straight for the MT09 which aswell as more power is also more comfortable to sit on, i think the MT10 will be just that bit too much for a 1st bike.
Thanks for this, I've got a 2022 mt09 love it to bits but still extremely tempted to go for an mt10 next... total costs are significantly higher though and I'm asking myself will I be paying alot more and maybe enjoying riding less. Its generally more fun to ride a smaller bike at 8tenths than a bigger bike at 4tenths eh
Long story short I have tried MT10 and bought MT09. MT09 is sharper lighter bike more agile and suited for street riding. And gives me bigger smile riding experience is way better. The only case where you may prefer MT10 is long motorway rides which I do not do.
After trying the duke 890r and the st765 rs I now have a 2023 mt09 sp in the garage best road bike I’ve owned pretty much fully kitted out bar £180 heated grips makes the choice easier
bought a '21 MT 07 new. Previous bike was an R6. The MT07 seems to be a perfect bike and I can't give it any negative marks. Only problem though, I'm bored.
I find my MT09 a little heavy on the wrists, but that’s because I’m old. Came to this from a 600 Bandit. Don’t see the point of the MT10 as even the 07 has more power than you should responsibly use on UK roads…but lol to that. In mode 4 its barely as quick as my Cupra. In mode 1 it’s 911 turbo s (nearly) quick. Light enough to split through traffic. Fast enough to scare the bejesus out of you. What more could you want? Oh yeah, better weather. Love my MT09.
I have the mt10 sp. the gas is not that great and you get about 200km for a full tank . It is super fun to ride, a lot of power and torque … insane. I love it . I don’t mind filling up the gas tank 3x a week.
I like how three of them have different engine configuration and different number of cylinders. That makes the feel and sound even more different. for comparison, the z800, z900 and z1000 have the exact same number of cylinder and the exact same engine configuration and relatively exact same sounds. Don't get me wrong, i like zx bikes from Kawasaki, but that comparison is just made me appreciate Yamaha more.
Couldn't get on with the Tracer MT-09, even with a nice, free flowing SP engineering exhaust pipe I didn't love it. Sold it for an MT-10 SP and OMFG, I love this bike. The look, the sound, the endless, idiotic power. Even when I'm not riding, I go look at the 10 and feel all...gushy. It's horses for courses tho and if everyone loved / wanted the same thing out of a bike, then manufacturers would make them all the same!! 😊
Sounds like I should have got the 9. I got the 7 cuz my riding season is about 3-4 months and wanted to save a few bucks. Plus no one had any 9’s in stock anywhere. 😊
It would be the XSR900 for me. All the fun of the MT09 but looks like a motorbike rather than some sort of sci fi robot. And then there’s that kit that makes it look like an RD500…
You have such a great voice and enthusiasm for bikes, but I wish there was a way you could have made money doing this that wasn't a constant promotion of the products.
This is the reason I sold my mt10 and bought the new mt09. Such a good daily and plenty of useable punch for the road. Love how fuel efficient it is also, seriously like 40% better fuel economy than my mt10.
The fuel mileage was a HUGE deciding factor for me going with the MT09. I put some miles on my bikes!
How is it on the highway? Can you use it as a tourer
I do 60 mpg (4 liters per 100 km) with my XSR900. Incredible fuel efficiency.
@@josevi5835 same here, similar to mt07!
@@yosefm170 yes easily, although it does need the comfort seat and a big screen for wind protection. Doesn’t compare to the tracer though when it comes decent length tours.
MT09 best pick imo.
Do like the Mt09 as I like the cp3 sound and personally don't like the sound of the cp2 0r cp4
Just sold mine wish i never jumped on the bandwagon
@@rikstar.Why? What didn't you like?
@amococ2487 1. The wind at around 90mph is a joke, actually horrible! No i dont want a silly looking fly screen.
2. The bikes are known for speed wobbles after 110mph serious wobbles, check in forums everyone's talking about it... yamaha should of recalled them, they aint safe.
3. The suspension is 💩 front and back
On the good side i love the engine and im seriously thinking of getting the r9 when it comes out
A tune and an exhaust it would be a blast to ride
07 & 09 are affordable and fun, while the 10 has desirable features and never disappoints in the riding experience.
Agreed, bought the MT-09 and couldn’t be happier. That being said, I love my XSR700 as well. Each has something different to bring to the table.
Great video!
mt 09 sp ...it arrives in 10 days!!! so stoked
The way you put it you are right. But maybe not so much 😊
I owned a 2022 MT-09 SP and tuned it to 123whp.
You would say the same about the Aprilia , if you owned one.
@@chriswest2290 May be yes. But too many reliability problems...It is good for one year, then it is a constant trouble
I know we are talking Yamaha here, but kawasaki Z900 is the answer
I rode my buddy’s fz09 yesterday and I can’t imagine riding a naked bike with more power than that (115hp). Granted I’m a new rider and own an mt 03 but still… That thing had me giggling and laughing like a little kid.
@@ryann6919 anorher fantastic bike. I tried one last year and I liked it a lot. Engine is very smoooooooth... and more comfortable than the MT09. However, the response of the three cylinder engine is more exciting.
@@ryann6919good price, but no quick shifter, no cruise control, no TFT screen I think, and other stuff
mt09 runs out of puff in the top 2 gears
otherwise it is a great great bike
I got the baby MT which is perfect for my hometown where the roads are narrow and lots of traffic, i enjoy it massively also it got the best look of all the MT series
I owned an MT09 (previous gen) for 3 years and then bought the MT10. The MT10 is larger and feels more substantial and comfortable. That power is addictive. Can't have too much power!

I've had an MT10 for over 7 years now. Absolutely the best, most fun, and totally reliable bike I've ever owned. If you've never ridden one, you should try one.
Ah, but the 900 based LC is the one you walk away from, look back at, and smile - right?
@rogerkay8603 Yep, you're right. Unfortunately, the Yamaha styling department isn't as good as their engineering side. It is difficult to describe the MT10 as beautiful.
@@Banditmanukagreed. Dont like the newer styling
@haroldtran7848 I'm with you on that my friend. I'm sure it still rides great though. 👍
I just bought an MT10 two weeks ago and I’m literally addicted man. Three hours a day right now
I have a 2023 MT-09SP. Great bike. Plenty of power. Plenty of features. Plenty of fun!
I have a 2022 SP close to 20k km. Hasn't missed a beat, the power never gets old but can comfortably commute and even tour a bit on it. The electronics makes riding it idiot proof.
@@hiddendragon415how about speed wobbles and front end stability? Im torn between 9 and 10
@@wojciechkubik2247 The 09 is rock solid in a straight line.

Just pulled the trigger on a mt07 for my first bike.
Was on sale. Didnt want 900 for first bike.
Cant wait to pick it up.
How do you like it? I got a full Yoshi and ECU flash, I fucking love mine
100% agree regarding the engine crank sticking out
2022 MT 10 here in Tech Black. Let's just say I have no regrets.
I have owned all three bikes, and can confidently say the 09 is the best one by far. It’s fun being able to use all the power and scratching the ceiling.
The one which doesn't MT your pocket 😅
genius
😂😂
Good one tho 😂
How much of the increased power on the road can you actually use compared to the the 07?
A little more detail on the MT-09 vs MT-07:
Quick shifter is up and down and comes as standard.
Drive modes as standard (1 to 4)
Rider aids has a customise mode (M)
You have to go for the SP to get upgraded suspension and cruise control.
I've owned a 2016 MT07 with ABS from new & love the bike! Can't ever see me getting rid of it...but who knows! 😊
+1
Tuono 660, Hornet, and 8S would be more apt to compare with the 07. Z900 is the intermediate between the 09 and 10
atm 890 duke r FTW
@@OtterplusWhere I live, a Tuono 660 with an IMU is more expensive than the MT-09 so it is the competition. I agree with you on the Hornet and GSX-8s: much cheaper and much less performance than the MT-09.
@@eskemeldgaardkrogh4145 price ≠ performance. Going by price alone, a honda cb1000r here is more expensive than a mt10sp in other countries. Performance-wise the tuono is on the lower end of middleweights.
Mt07 all day long, sitting position on mt 07 much more comfortable specially for taller riders.
Would love to upgrade to XSR900 with racer kit; that genuine saddle kit made by SW-Motech is also a plus for touring.
We just completed 5500 miles using My ATAS & my Bros MT09, He totally loves it, Great on fuel, Fun as hell & a great all rounder that can do the miles if needed..
You Only need an Mt09 or an XSR 900 if you dont go to track
I got a 23 XSR900. All the good things of an MT09 in a beautiful package.
Sold my GSX S-100GT and bought the MT09 SP. After trying several more expensive bikes including the MT10 SP. And love it for the type of riding i do.
Agreed
I've mulled this over but concluded the best route for me would be a full system, filter, dial in the standard cams and a flash to match. I really wouldn't want to lose that bottom end that makes this motor so much fun. If you want to move the power up the rev range, I guess you could buy a Hornet 😁
@@thebox3446 the suspension is easy to buff up either with drop INS or with a R6 swap
You can achieve a little over 80 without after market cams you just need exhaust hord intake and a tune it gets it to around 82 or so whp
Need the triple ball bearing turbos, make it a 10 second bike. Don't forget the plumbus, with a 3/4 mounted phleebe.
What year was your xsr? Cheers
@shanemartin3307 2018 black...very good looking bike.
I’ve had all 3. They all have the upsides and downsides and none are “the best” out of any. They each have a purpose
I bought a 2023 MT-07 because I’m a beginner rider and wanted to not feel like the bike is trying to kill me. I hope to sell it in a few years and step up to the MT-09. That said, I absolutely love every second I am on the 07! It’s a ton of fun.

in 2020 I road tested the MT10, awesome bike but I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground, and was concerned for my licence, I also tested the Tracer 900GT at the same time (as I wanted a bike for a bit of touring too) , which really was fast enough on the road, but more engaging to ride, with that great triple sound and as it was also on a discount it was a no brainer.'Also thought build quality was better on The Tracer/MT09.
My thoughts exactly, thus making me purchase The 09SP.
Still have that smirk every time I ride it. Have it for about a year now👍👍🤙
Got one of the first the mt09 sp 21 in my country when is launched, and, in the middle weight segment it is for me far the best bike.
As for the Mt10 - more than 120 HP are needed for your ego and not for speed on the road.
great video im going with the mt07
I know its too much for street/daily riding but I couldnt get anything but the 10 for the sound/novelty of the only production crossplane 4 cylinder
Got a 2020 mt10....best bike I've ever owned.
Cheers
Being a tall rider (1,90m) I personally bought the MT10SP, it's an amazing machine and wouldn't change for an MT09 😅
Would love to see the same kind of test but with some of the other manufacturers nakeds. Like ktm 790,890, and 1290
I chose the MT-09 SP to replace my 2007 FZ1. The SP is brilliant. A hooligan when you want and perfect just getting around town.
Had a Yamaha xs 850
Triple in the 80s
Pull 90 in second..
Was called the poor man's bmw in the day.
Triples are all about pulling power..
Took it from England to Yugoslavia over the Alps.. via Berlin.
Away for a month.
Never missed a beat.
Had a 750 before that
And an LCRD Before that wheelie machine
I wanted an MT 10 alas insurance said otherwise.
So I got a shiny blue XSR 900 all I can say is I'm very happy with it.
Yamaha undoubtedly making some of the best engines in motorbikes right now.
The whole line up is great if anyone threw me the keys to any each iteration of the MT i would be happy.
What most people dont realise though is the difference between the r1 and the mt10 is the engine is the same but the gear box ratios are different so the mt10 tops out sooner despite sprocket changes etc but not that imagine people would be maxing out their bikes on the road its always just nice to know😅
mt-03 ?
My son has an MT-03 (his first bike) and it is a hoot! Such a fun bike!
@@joaoseven460 yup, scary fun 🤩.. and sometimes 💩 😆
Always go for the biggest cc period!!!!! Example you get a 600cc bike just to get tired of it in6 months and then you want the 1000cc.
Thanks planning on getting a ZX10R or R1 as my first bike :) Probably ZX10R
I'm getting a Hayabusa for my first bike .@@UltimateEnd0
Got the MT09 Tracer, great bike, got after market exhaust which makes the triple sound awesome.
Fun Fact - first frames of the Yamaha ad clip are from Warsaw :) exactly from Aleja Jana Pawła II and Grzybowska intersection :)
Just bought a 2018 MT10 for 9400 with 780 miles. I'm very happy!
Triple engine all the way! Yamaha fan since late seventies. Bought one of the very first XT500 in 1976.
I have two MT09’s both 3rd gen. Absolutely love them!
Why do you have 2 of the same bike?
Lol bro what
I have the mt10 sp. the gas is not that great and you get about 200km for a full tank .
Hey I have question.Which one do you is the best between an mt09 and a triumph street triple 765 rs?
Got a '22 MT10... All it needs is an aftermarket headlight kit. Other than that, she's a wonderful monster.
❤ MT09 sweet handling and punching power ❤
It would be the XSR900 for me. All the fun of the MT09 but looks like a motorbike rather than some sort of sci fi robot. And then there’s that kit that makes it look like an RD500…
I think overall the XSR900 especially with the kit you mentioned looks better but you do have to put up with the plank of a seat.
You have such a great voice and enthusiasm for bikes, but I wish there was a way you could have made money doing this that wasn't a constant promotion of the products.
