+Ethanmeister That's ok I'd rather get hate than love haha. You know you're doing some things right in life when you have people talking shit out of jealousy or whatever, especially when they don't know what they are talking about.
+Thomas Kong There's no such thing as a "stage 2" turbo. Stop this stage nonsense. What he needs to drive is the red E90 with the borg warner EFR that roasts GTR's.
+sweeeptheleg your opinion is very important for him because he is scared you wont pay his bills anymore after what he did, I mean how disrespectful of him choosing rims and a color he likes on his OWN car right? that color is such a ricer color too.
+Peder Hansen I disagree though I get how a sponsorship might change the authenticity of the recommendation. I am more saying a set of tires as a thanks for all the free unpaid promo he does for them. Not a Michelin branded series of videos where he is paid to get on his knees. And even if he did, it wouldn't change the fact that Pilot Super Sports and the best street tires you can get. Cheers!
+Dash Cam California LOL me too. When tires on my dad's Panamera 4S needed replacing we got super sports. Car comes with PZeros. Yes Michelin are actually better.
+SpeedFreak0122 I know I know stupid me haha. I had just bought the wheels and tires together from someone not too long before that and just had a memory lapse on what size they were at the moment he asked me. Whatcha gonna do.
thescoolestkyline why the profanity dude? I'm so into my car , I cant imagine not knowing what size rubber i'm rolling on,the dude just forgot so i'm not stressing.. just saying. 225/45/17 is stuck in my head . Pilot sport 3 :D
You can make 400 whp on pump gas and just those few boltons up there. Where it really gets spicy is when you throw some inlets and bigger turbos in the mix. You can get to 600 whp on the stock high pressure fuel system
+That Car Guy Just last month we had an S2k with a blown headgasket and the shop I work at. He was driving through the mountains and over heated and just kept turning the car back on.
I want to like the E82 but the proportions are so awkward. It just seems cartoonish and mis-proportioned. The M coupe looks perfect because of the wider fenders, but the regular 1 series was weird. They drive great though. 2 series has better proportions but it's heavier
My 135i was the best car I've ever owned hands down. Had full bolt ons with jb4 on e85. My favorite thing about that car was the look on people's face when I'd fly by them lol. Nothing like a 3100 lb car making 430whp/460wtq. I will say however I didn't truly fall in love with the looks till I drove one. It took a little while to grow on me before I bit the bullet and bought it.
I bought that 135i with red rims about a year ago. I had to do some work on it and of course the first thing i did was to change those rims lol but so far i love it and the car is about 450 whp amd 468 torque. My Instagram is dragobmw1 if you huys want to take a look how it looks so far
@TheSmokingTire Hey guys I enjoy your videos, probably my most enjoyed SUB in my line up but I have to ask why so many euro cars? Especially in this last year alone i feel as its been flooded with BMWs, Audis and VWs. Variety is the spice of life, line up some more imports and American cars por favor. Also wheres that sweet little Fiesta ST been?!? Either way thanks for the great content.
Since the tire-question was raised: The dimension of the tires in the case of the E82 135i is quite important. Because the stock tires produce way too much understeer. That's why I'm running 245's (stock) at the back and 225's (stock 215) at the front. And the difference is astonishing. Understeer has gone unless you're really trying but the whole thing is now neutral and very controllable. Faster too. Seriously if you have a 135i this is the first thing you should do. It improves the car significantly at low cost. Also I'm running Pirelli P-Zeros (non runflat) and that also helps. In my opinion way better than the stock Bridgestones which don't seem to handle heat as well as the Pirellis do. I didn't touch the motor because a) it already has a traction problem (meaning install a LSD first!) and b) I like my car reliable when it has to handle track or heavy Autobahn-duty. Run over 130 mph for over 2 hours and you'll see what I mean. Best thing about the 135i is still that nobody expects such a small and stealthy car (my wheels aren't pink...) to be that fast. Non turbo or GT Porsche-drivers are surprised every time how they aren't faster.
You can run 235s in the front without modification and no rub. I'm running square 245s right now on stock M sport suspension and I only rub over big dips.
SnipinCatz Hey, thanks for that info. I was considering running 235s but I wanted to gradually improve it. And since my wife drove the car from time to time I didn't want this thing to be too aggressive. Anyway I sold it and drive an e92-M3 now. The initial turn in on that M3 is insane. That car really shows how you can fix almost everything with a proper suspension setup. But I will always love that 135i. It is such a sleeper. Which can't be said about the M3, evereybody knows it is fast. I kinda miss that stealthiness...
That Michelin rep tell you why it was impossible to find PSS from June - November last year? I heard rumors about factory problems, overwhelming manufacturer demand, yadda yadda. All I know is I had to buy a different brand because I needed tires and couldnt wait indefinitely.
I hope you have it custom tuned by now. Love mine more than my e46 m3. It only needs to get the suspension upgraded and an lsd then it will become a go cart.
love the one series, great vid. I'm thinking about making the same move, selling my weekend s2000 and moving to a 135. 335s and 135s are dirt cheap now with one of the best modding motors out there. nice work.
Thank you, Car Throttle, for bringing a bunch of morons to the comments of these videos to give their "expert advice" on what the owner "should do." I love CT as much as the next person, but the second they mention one bad thing, the whole internet just attacks that one thing like Beliebers on Twitter. I love this 135i. I would do everything the owner has done because it's a great setup.
I actually think the red wheels look OK. Black on black is so boring. The ride quality is clearly atrocious. Short wheel base = go for softer wheel/suspension setup for the street.
I have almost the same exact car, JB4, exhaust, Koni Yellows, intake and e85. I normally can't go over 3gal of E85 per tank without getting too much wastegate flutter. Even so, it pulls like a freight train. Seeing this one made me happy. I love my car and feel the bang for the buck is amazing. I rip off STI's and other 4banger turbos all day long, with refinement.
Lotta comments about the rims, all of which are founded. Those rims have a sweet shape and would be sick if they were gloss black but that color screams 19 year old raver boy
Matt I HAVESOME CONSTRUCTIVECRITICISM FOR YOU. 1. How about taking a few minutes to provide a quick historical background about the the car being driven. Then gradually leading the audience to the upgrades the car owners has done over time. Maybe a comparison in cars similar to the one on the show being aired. 2. Don't be so quick to jump into a drive. Taking the time to get the back story of the car and car owner shows a well rounded journalist as opposed to a guy "only" seeking suckers to burn through their clutches and brakes. 3. Do you provide anything at all for those bringing their cars to you? A gas card... A free oil change? Maybe a T-shirt???
It's not FBO without an upgraded FMIC. Downpipes, catback, and intake with a JB4 might make 350 on E85. Stock FMIC is a HUGE problem - heat sink galore. This guy needs inlets and outlets and a 7" stepped FMIC with a custom tune, THEN he'll make 400hp he claims.
I was really looking forward to matt getting his hands on the little bimmer, too bad that guy doesn't know what he's talking about, or at least explained it terribly. Also too bad the car is running like shit. Power kicks in at 5k rpm? That's when the power is supposed to die off, 135i's should peak torque below 4k with stock turbos. The autotune map this guy has it on is garbage, it always goes too conservative.I have felt exactly the same thing from my 135i, no power until after 5k, cant remember what caused it but something was wrong. He should be running map 6 with custom boost levels at around 16-17 psi, the flash tune covers fuel and timing and vanos, the piggy back tuner controls boost better and gives you hijacked gauges for boost/af, iat's or what ever you want and allows you to do logging.
I'll admit, I bought and mounted some USED Michilen pilot sport tires and I'm spoiled to death by them! they totally changed the attitude of any car I was driving.I wanted to buy some brand new Michelins from tire rack and they are never available, so I had to settle for some new Pirelli P-Zeros. 265/35/20 and 305/30/20...I'll see how I like them soon
Yo matt, your videos havent been showing up on my subscriptions feed, i checked to make sure that im subscribed and all that jazz, just hoping everyone else is getting them, or youd be missing a lot of views
man I fucking LOVE the color he chose for the rims!!! and Im sure someone who chooses a color this different from others doesnt really give a fuck about people think.
Matt this audio is whacking me out. On screen you're on the right but your voice comes out of the left channel. I know that's how it's captured but it still trips me out.
can someone tell me how this guy has so many mods when he lives in california? a lot of what he has on his car is illegal. how does he get by smog checks and pollice?
I run a NA 130i, peddles, clutch, throttle response perfect for heel and toe changes. A sharp steer as well. These are great little drivers cars. Glad Matt enjoyed it.
+TheSmokingTire +rebelyell22 I'd say ADVAN A048's (ran them on my three Lotuses and as the rain tire on my GT3, now as the street tire on my Jaguar also), ADVAN A005's (track, dry tire for my GT3), Michelin Pilot Sport Cups (what I've run on basically everything else), Michelin XZL (summer tires for my truck), Blizzak DMV1's (winter tires for my truck). Honestly, I think the ADVAN A048 is one of the most underrated tires out there...
95 RON = 90 octane US, 98 RON = 93 octane US. Lower octane will yield better mileage but has a lower knock resistance. I always run the highest octane available, especially since I'm tuned.
Those wheels make the car look cheap and half ass.
no the red is sick and contrast well with black cars. I love red and black as it looks sporty yet evil
David pineda child
@@davidpineda645 those wheels are awful lol
In my opinion, the red looks very good
If the goal was to make it look horrific then he sure did succeed with those wheels.
Other than the wheel colour, it seems like a pretty sweet car. Don't know why everyone's being so bitter - must be a bad case of the Mondays.
Working at a BMW dealership I have driven just about every model. But, the 135i turbo is about as fun as it gets. Keep them coming Matt.
Looks like everyone expended all their love on Bill...
+Ethanmeister valentines day is coming up. the lonely and bitterness comes out one way or another
+Ethanmeister That's ok I'd rather get hate than love haha. You know you're doing some things right in life when you have people talking shit out of jealousy or whatever, especially when they don't know what they are talking about.
+Kyle B Always liked the 135i . Sounds nice also!
+Kyle B This is the Internet after all. If you don't encounter copious amounts of hate, it's too suspicious.
Someone needs to bring Matt a 335i/135i with stage 2 turbos
Or a 6466...
+Thomas Kong There's no such thing as a "stage 2" turbo. Stop this stage nonsense. What he needs to drive is the red E90 with the borg warner EFR that roasts GTR's.
+Thomas Kong ... or a 1M please.
+Skylar Garrett Yeah... A 6466 that makes 750whp.
+Heel Toe peak power means little to nothing. power under the curve is what matters.
0:16 in guessing lost a bet or got the wheels for free. Awful. But still like the 1 series.
+sweeeptheleg your opinion is very important for him because he is scared you wont pay his bills anymore after what he did, I mean how disrespectful of him choosing rims and a color he likes on his OWN car right? that color is such a ricer color too.
Michelin really should throw you some free tires. I bought my super sports because of your relentless recommendations!
+Dash Cam California same here and they really are a great tire for a weekend car!
+Peder Hansen I disagree though I get how a sponsorship might change the authenticity of the recommendation. Blowing headgaskets on a turbo S2k? Lol what did you do wrong with that build
uggliest thing you can do to a bmw give it ugly red rims :'(
Why's everyone so salty
I wuv this car
Sorry but the rim colour is just ridiculous. Nice colour but on that car its just all wrong. Give a ricer look on a nice car.
The ride looks too firm in my opinion
+beeeneee while I agree he did say it wasn't his everyday car so he probably doesn't mind since he isn't driving with it all the time

i think the 1-series coupe looks better than the 3-series ;)
His s2k was prolly blowing headgasket because he probably was running MLS on a head and block that has not been decked
those wheels made the car look like shit
This may be the least modded 135... He needs to drive one with the M3 bits on it. The whole sub frame is bolt in. Now that's a modded 1 series!
Didn't the bikers laying down in the middle of the road get a shit tonne of views as well?
Yep! It's (not) Log (TM) at 8:21!
Which videos are these??? Ive watched almost every one take i swear lol and never seen these.

"tuned" with a quick flash and guessed fuel quantity. If your going to spend the money you may aswell it tuned properly on a dyno
Rule 1 of new Gen turbo cars.
Never trust a man who adds a second blow off valve.
Let's see a tuned 128i
+Tomáš T. It's N/A, wouldn't be too much of a difference.
+Imad S The 328 is the one to get. It has a lot less weight on the front end and a lighter rotating assembly. For track duty, it's the one you want.
Agreed, althought most people might find a stock N52 E8x/E9x underpowered.
N52 128/328 with headers, DISA & tune is a pleasure to drive.
+Imad S whats the usa version of the 128i? the only 128 the uk has is the F model which is the 2 litre 4cyl turbo

anyone know the specs of the wheels?

Its a shame the road is so shitty and the ride so stiff - would have liked to hear more about the car's characteristics
1-series never grew on me, looks like a squished car
true
+KevinTheFirefighter the interior is simplistic like an e46 M3 . Its similer to how BMW designed the interior for the new 2 series coupe as well .

Update: I have a 135i now 😎
how did you find yours and what about did you pay?

+rebelyell22 Nankangs
+rebelyell22 Michelin PSS, BFG Sport Comp 2, Hankook RS3, Nitto NTO5, Pirelli Trofeo R
+TheSmokingTire why not nankang ns2?
TheSmokingTire the sport comps are the only tire out of those that comes in my sizes lol. The Camaro has the weirdest tire combo
Nice car. Always nice to see a cat in the video; cute cats are youtube gold. You should mention the cat in the description and the title.
Finally! Thanks, Matt. I'd assume you filmed this a while ago, but if you remember how did you find shift between first and second?
love this series. such a good idea
What's the weight for one of these? 400 hp sounds amazing, did you have any trouble at all putting the power done after a corner?
3373 lbs curb weight. Easy to get it down to 3100.
That car is actually very good. It grips and puts the power down very well, it's very enjoyable to drive.
Does 91 petrol, get worse mpg and hurts your engine compared to 95 and 98?
95 RON = 90 octane US, 98 RON = 93 octane US. Lower octane will yield better mileage but has a lower knock resistance. I always run the highest octane available, especially since I'm tuned.
Every time I see this car, I think its mine until I take a second glance. lol
Love it. I'm really considering a fairly low mile used 135i for my next ride. I'm just a bit worried about reliability and normal maintenance costs.
nice one take overall but come on man gotta know ur tire size after all those mods lol
Got myself one of these. Amazing cars. Great fun to drive, great handling, very responsive and seemingly unlimited power.
The second shove is a little something called VANOS!
I love my 135i and I love other specimens of 135i, but dear god those rims have got to go
should've just got low compression pistons for that s2000
