As a 135i owner, this makes me happy. The 135i is an incredible car and deserves more recognition.
I spent more on upgrades for my 135i than I ever needed to for maintenence. If you take your car to a dealer for things like oil changes, it will be far more expensive to own.
I think the mosselman thermostat upgrade and setting the fan speed to sport is a must, reduces oil running temps by 30 degrees! No secondary coolers needed.

@@andygarcia2266 I think he's referring to the coolant mode setting in the MHD tuning app. You can set it to normal, sport, or max.
Dude, was preparred to drop a ton on an upgraded cooler setup, thanks for this. I'm ps2 and those temps looks beautiful.
@@MasterResolve Good, so you have it too? To be clear, my setup is: 1) mosselmann thermostat 2) m3 cowl open engine bay conversion 3) fan set to sport (not even track) 4) EVO 1 intercooler ...so my Cars temp is always at 90-100C instead of factory 120C, and same warm up time. 2011 N55. No extra oil cooler is needed!

Canadian here too but even if we could win, I wouldn't pay 50$ for a mug and a chance to win. Maybe if it was like 20$ I would.
You would be surprised how much that channel brings in revenue plus endorsements probably 15 to 20 grand a month

I was worried they would sell enough. Might be better where there are more options for merch. Don't care much for a mug but love the different blipshift t-shirts they have done. Don't know if that's feasible.
If i win i'll drive my mustang to them and let them have it for the next one. Sounds like its spec'd similar to matts first mustang (95 gt 5.0/5 speed).
@@TandyTerrison Yiiiikes. I had a feeling this would go south. TST just doesn't have the view counts to support something like this. Get entered to win takes 50% of the proceededs as well (you can find this info on their site). If 300 people holds true, after tax they're only clearing like $6k.

I have a manual EU Spec 2011 E82 135i N55 LCI M, absolutely love the car. Haven't had any major issues with mine. Took it on the Nürburgring and does 270kmh on the Autobahn...

I’ve a manual 2013 n55 stock except suspension and down pipe really undecided if i should go for mhd or jb4 tune afraid to loose balance, what do you think?

When I was younger and my morning commute was only 10 minutes, my Subaru was low and stiff with sticky tires and all the noisy bolt ons. Now that I drive 3500 miles a month I’ve come to understand the appeal of a comfortable but responsive suspension and quiet cabin.
one of my best friends is finishing up his ARNP schooling and all the other training that goes into it and he's had a 135i sitting in his garage for probably 7 years at this point. I really hope someday he'll give that car the attention it deserves, these things rock
So funny that my son flew out to Seattle last year and bought a 135i and drove it back to Maine with his buddy cannonball style. I have never seen one. Wicked cool car. He’s lovin this vid. He’s already done a lot of these mods. Hawt little beemah! Love it! (BTW I couldn’t buy that mug quick enough! Me and the boy will be twins!)
A few years ago I purchased a 2009 135i with 90k miles for $10,000. The previous owner, like you, had just spent just under $10,000 refreshing the suspension, doing all major maintenance items, and upgrading the turbos. I daily drove that car on e85 for 30k miles at around 600whp and loved every second. I sold it to purchase my dream e92 M3 and a VF Engineering supercharger kit (their 620 crank HP kit. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the 1 Series more in just about every way and do sometimes still miss it (until i hear that V8 scream). Congrats to whoever wins this car, they're sweet daily drivers.
I love the mods you've done. Simple stuff to make it better to drive and more reliable. Really hope I get it. This would be fun in the mountains of Alabama... and maybe even take it over to the Georgia mountains too.

I totally approve of what you've done, I'm an older BMW owner, I like the older cars too, but I've recently driven my bosses wife's 135 convertible with some mods it's a great little beast of a thing, so much fun with the top down, had it for about a week & really enjoyed what it could do, Rj in Oz

Such a great little car I love my 1er. I have the MHD stage 2+ with all the bolt-ons and maintenance (done by myself), and on an e40 blend it is a fricking beast it will spin through 1st, 2nd, and scratch 3rd with 255 wide tires.
I love it when companies market their product(s) as "50 State Legal" lol. What that really means is that its "1 State legal", and that State is CA haha. All other States can have 93oct files, with FBO, and straight pipes, and be completely legal lol.
I get the mug idea because clothing might be difficult with sizes and everything, but feel like a poster would have been a dope thing to sell for an entry

I daily drive the balls off my 135i, constantly telling people it’s some of the most car you can buy for the money, paid 15k two and a half years ago and have put 25k off hard daily redline driving on it 😂 love that little thing, 2013 n55 DCT
more you redline it (after the engines warm) the cleaner you keep the engine!
Bought a mug for a chance to win this awesome 135i. I had one about 12 years ago and sometimes I really miss it. I did some of the same mods you guys did but frankly off the showroom floor it was an awesome car. Mine was LeMans Blue with the m-sport option that gave you upgraded wheels and some other accessories. Here's to hoping I win this one and I would love to fly out and maybe even see WCCS.
I had one too. I had a 2009 in Monaco blue with terra cotta brown interior, 6 speed, sport package. Factory build. Loved that car but had to sell it in 2014, needed two doors and AWD at that point when I bought a house, NY winter commutes are no joke. Have had an S3 and drive a C43 now but honestly the 135i I had was the best.
@@sethalbert386 similar reasons to why I let mine go. Kids change everything. I daily a barn find 1992 Lexus LS400 now. The car sat abandoned in an airport hangar for over 20 years and used to be a limo for the airport.
@@TheHire99 yup, bought a house and had kids. Two doors and RWD isn’t conducive but now with there being a dearth of sticks available unless you can afford a 911 or M3, I’d love to have it back
Lets remember that the 135 of this generation is one of the last high performance BMWs that you can get with hydraulic steering.

Really enjoyed the series. Hope its financially rewarded and you're able to do more of them. (Personally not eligible) Hope the winner gets a reliable car. I'm always tempted then dissuaded from this era of BMW because of the frailty/complexity/expense of repairs. There should be on ongoing reliability tally of Zack's M3 and this.

Stock, I135 are fantastic canyon/daily cars. For street/track, I'd go Boxster S as I prefer a lower seating position.
I had a stage 2+ 135, and the high seating position drove me NUTS. And there aren't any viable options to lower the seats while retaining the ability to move them, sigh. Lost the car in an accident, miss it to this day.

M3 suspension? Which brakes? LSD?
Apex forged 18” wheels is the way to go. HRE fail with track use. Brakes rotors are thin and lack mass. The caliper dust seals fail at track temperatures.

Very nice 135i.. but some headlight restoration would’ve gone a long way, or possibly replacing the lenses.

pro tip: from what I've seen these engines leak a lot less the more often you drive the car (no chance for the shitty gaskets to dry out)
aftermarket turbos transform the top end of the motor too
Used to have a 135i. Great car, except for handling at the limit. It was either heavy understeer or snap oversteer.

Bought my mug a few weeks ago. Fingers crossed. I didn't tell me wife so she's going to be pretty confused if a flatbed shows up with a car on it. If I am lucky enough to win, I will take my chances with the wife. Best thing is, I doubt two car seats fit in the back so it would be my own private oasis. A man can dream right?

Buying a $50 mug was hard and then learning i didn’t qualify for the sweepstakes because i am in NY really hit me hard but im not going to get a refund because it is for a good cause, supporting veterans and i am active duty myself. It was very exiting buying it to be a part but sucked to find that out after buying the mug, you guys did mention to read the rules for the sweepstakes but i had already bought the mug before getting to that part of the video. I feel like it should have been mentioned in the video that people living in Florida and New York did not qualify. Either way good luck to all the people who entered

Not surprising that the "you find it, you fix it" approach on a BMW in good condition was $9,000+

@@Bestwick1983 They went to the best shops and had them go through EVERYTHING. It's a lot, but not a shock. Go to your shop and ask them to do bushings, transmission, paint repair, and de-carbon the intake and valve train. That quote would be crazy no matter where you go.
@@nathanchildress5596Over the course of around 3 years I've replaced injectors, coil packs, waterpump, thermostat, plugs, valve cover, all vacuum lines, VANOS solenoids, clutch/flywheel, decarboned (and probably more I can't recall at the moment). My total is nowhere near 9k. They got ripped.

I get the 50 state legal part but Cobb tune? They quit supporting BMW years ago. Who ever wins this is going to immediately switch to MHD or back to stock and then be stuck with an accessport they can't get rid of lol.

It has a valve in the exhaust from the factory. All of the turbo i6 bmw makes do.
