5:25 is where I made sure to give this video a like. WAY too many tech reviewers speak those commands out loud and set off everyone's phones and smart speakers they've already got. Kudos on your all too rare mindfulness.
Thank you! I want to make sure the viewing experience is not stressful for you.

Amazing
Really appreciate the "OK Google" volume duck. Very thoughtful!
Exactly my thoughts! I have watched other reviews and actually stopped watching after they said it twice, because my Google Home mini was responding and I was getting frustrated
google responds to everything.... everytime someone says "okay" anything..
alexa doesn't respond to. "alex" "al" "alexis" or any variation
people say okay a lot..
and its not just ok.. it seems to randomly beep like it herd okay...
today my kid said " oh yes" and the clock responsed.
For anyone who would like to use this clock to wake up using FM radio, just say 'Wake me up at (time) playing (FM station)'. You can then set it to repeat daily in the alarm settings. Additionally, you can adjust the alarm volume in those settings.
That is a great tip thanks!
Do you know how to get the radio to play for longer then 10 mins when on alarm mode
@@GarryL277 Unfortunately, no. I've had that issue too. I also noticed that if you snooze it, it won't play again after the snooze timer ends. So it does have some bugs.
How do you duplicate it so it works Monday to Friday only & is it down via Alexa or on the clock. Also how do you adjust the volume?
Wife picks up the phone:
- "What"
- "What do you want?" 😆 daang
LOL @ the girl on the call "What do you want? Cool, bye"
Just got mine 2 days ago. I love it. it is tiny but powerful and has a fantastic display. It is a beautiful device.
UPDATE: You can now select your own photos from Google Photos to show on the ambient display.
Hey Brett. Very good video, I'm considering replacing my Google home mini and at the same time, Put the Google home mini in living room, but my question is, can it do exactly the same as the Google home mini? I mean, is it really an upgrade? (apart from the screen and being a clock)
The only two things I can think of that it will not do is become a Bluetooth speaker and make actual phone calls.
Might replace mine
@@TechWithBrett ok still works for me. Thanks and keep up the good work, much appreciated 👍🏽
Does it have bluetooth so i could connect it to a better speaker with bluetooth like the google home mini?
Want it. Do not need it. Great video. Best description so far that I have seen on this device. Thanks for that.
Watching ths 3 years later, all the features are standard Google features on any smart display, but what I love about the Lenovo Smart Clock, even 3 years later, is it is small and compact. It looks like a bedside clock rather than a smart screen. Sure, it can't play videos, but aside from that it is very functional and works well for the purpose of being a clock with some smarts built into it.
The Smart Clock 2 is very similar, but has improved sound, to the point where I would recommend the Smart Clock 2 now, but if you can pick one of the originals up cheap, they are very worth while and still get updates.
Thank you! this was a great straight forward review, very informative and easily watchable. Already added this little clock to my cart so i'm excited to try it for my new alarm clock.
They are coming out with a new one in about a month that will be able to charge your phone a bit better and some other things.
Great review. I'm an established Android user and I completely overlooked the auto brightness setting and was getting rather frustrated with manually having to mess around with them; looking forward to going to bed now tonight!
Just ordered one of these from Walmart today for $60. Free next day delivery. Can't wait to try it out.
Should’ve waited until Black Friday. It’s $39
Lol, she's just as annoyed when I call my wife to test stuff out.
And yet they keep us around. Hahaha!
9:34 reminds me of the 90's when everyone was trying out new ring tones everywhere.
Fantastic and professional review, I watching after one year and I wanna buy this clock to my bedroom
I love your channel, thanks for all the help figuring these new age gadgets out.
Wow. Hear that enthusiasm in the duo call
Thanks for a great and comprehensive review.
Great video and detailed explanation! Thank you very much.
Awesome clear review - thanks!
Very Helpful Thank You !
Thank you Sir! You're the best, always so many tips I learn.
So detailed! Many thanks!
I didn’t know about this until I started searching for Google home products, thanks for the information!! I will be buying some for my home :D!!
Thank you for not making my Google Home go off! :)
I appreciate the extra thought put into videos :)
Great review. Just got two for the wife and I can't wait until they arrive to try them out!
Wass Hammoud I got one from Black Friday and my mom won’t let me have it until Christmas. Tell me how good it is and helpful.
Well? How has it been?
Cool great job as always
Nice video mate, this orderd one for my bedroom
Wow, the most comprehensive review of a product I've ever seen! Love it. Does anyone know if it's possible to cast audio from a different music service (e.g. Tidal) to this clock?
Yes it is!
Thanks for the great review.
Super cool little peice of tech
Ace video Brett. Really informative! Although I'm hoping that you can tell me about the commute function? I know when my trains are, but I'm wondering if it will tell me if they're running late? Thanks in advance. Scott 😁
Nice video! It answered a lot of questions.
Just one thing, you said that it can be connected to a Bluetooth speaker and play music throughout it, but on the lenovo site it is said just the opposite. It's that correct?
Thanks
Great Review!!!
great review it helped me alot :)
Wow! Thank you!
Great video. Does it work only with one single voice or can it be used with multiple people voices?
Hi Brett! Does the display show Wyze and Arlo Cams if you ask assistant to show you these cameras?
Hi Brett! Thank you for the detailed review. I just bought this smart clock and have a question. Hope you could help. I want to display the weather with the picture display screen. When I try to enable the weather under setting, it did not save my choice. It keeps on going back to the default settings without weather. Is it by design or I got a defect clock? Thank you in advance for your reply!!!
Great video! I was wondering... does the Google Hub have the “Sunset alarm”-feature as well?
Great review. How does the clock decide what Spotify tracks to play in my wakeup routine, seems random.
Hey Brett, I just finished watching your Video about the Lenovo smart clock, that you recommended yesterday. I really like what this has to offer. However, even though this would have done what I am looking for. I'm looking to see if there is anything that will simply just be a clock that keeps itself set, and maybe automatically adjust brightness based on time of day. Something that doesn't strictly rely on AC power to work, and be visible. The solution I'm looking for in a smart clock would be for it to be able to work on battery power, or AC. Most of the digital clocks that take a 9V for backup, only light the display when AC power is present, and extended time on battery still causes the clock to lose time. Of course, I have my phone, iPad and computers for time, but they aren't always on dedicated clocks. Of course, I can always ask Google, or Alexa for the time, but then again, they require AC, and aren't always on. Either way, loved the video. Hope I have given you some more info related to my solution I'm looking for. Have a great day.
Xiaomi Mijia BT4.0 Bluetooth Wireless Smart Electric Digital Indoor&Outdoor Hygr
Just came in it’s great thanks
We have Hubs in all the bedrooms, kitchen and lounge... then minis in all the bathrooms and hallways... if my kids were younger this would be cool, or to have in bathroom instead of mini I suppose (depending on price)
Wonderful detailed video Brett!
Can I connect it to an external non smart bluetooth speaker for better music quality?
Nope.
If you can be able to find a speaker from either of the company's compatible with the Lenovo smart clock
(If you want, I'll name all the company's that's compatible with the smart clock, I'll name them all:
UA-cam music
Pandora
Nest
Google Chromecast
Spotify
Phillips Hue)
Phillips Hue is recommended to see if there is a speaker. I haven't checked their website, so you can check! :)
Phillips Hue sell Light bulbs that are compatible with your Lenovo Clock, And uhh., that's really all I know of XD
Conclusion: Highly doubt there is one. You can always contact Lenovo about this idea though. Just a thought 🙃
hope this helps!
A very tempting purchase but I’ll wait another version or 2.
I think I will buy this.
Great job on your explanations.
Hi brett , thx for the another helpful video
I have a question , so we can only make dup audio calls .. how about receive , can we can receive audio duo calls as well on smart Lenovo clock ???
When I call my home devices from Google home app , it will receive duo audio call bell same like other google devices around the house ???
.. also , any door bell comparable with Google assistant will send notification or only the nest door bell ??
Dope video 🔥
A great run though, Brett. I won't be buying as I'm going to get the Home Hub Max when it comes out and I only have room for one more display in the house. My Nest Hub goes to the bedroom to replace a Insignia speaker. Kind of like musical chairs but with speakers. If I had another room, I would buy this Lenovo display.
Please tell me, wich one has better sound, the clock, or the nest hub?
Can I connect my wyze cam and door bell to this camera or does it have to be a nest cam? Thanks
Please tell which has better sound quality nest mini(2nd gen) or this clock???
I'm getting both for same price. Which one to buy
Idk if this is new but there's mouse support if you plug it in the back USB port
Thank you.
I have decided to get one of these (version 2) for my bedroom and move the nest hub with the bigger screen to another room.
Brett, you do great gigs on YT! Are there any anticipated problems having 2 in the same room; one on either side of the bed?
I have had two in on room before and it does offer some interesting problems. Sometimes the closest one to me responded and other times that was not the case. I recommend only using one per room.
@@TechWithBrett I've had my Lenovo clock setup near my Google Home mini and both also go off kind of randomly. Although certain commands will come up on the clock because it has a screen depending upon the command issued.
Thank you good video
Does it still works/alarm you, if its lose the wifi during the night? And what if there is a small power out during night, does it remember alarm ect ? !!
I have my clock set to randomly show pictures from a few Google Photo albums. Maybe when you got yours it didn't have this feature possibly. I picked mine up at Walmart Black Friday for only $40 I regret not grabbing 2 or 3 now.
great video, covering everything, my question is how to turn on the upcoming screen, i see it at 11:48, but its not showing on mine, i bought this to put it on my desk to mainly show me my agenda for a day..
Hi Brett, hope you're well, good video, is this device available in Spanish?😅 Ish because is for my father and he speaks primarily Spanish... Hope all this features roll soon for other G home devices...
can this be hooked up with a doorbell video camera? like the xiaomi set up (unfortunately only in chinese language).
Best buy has these for 39.99 for black friday this year!
I like! I like set up in S10!
Brett can you stream your smart camera like tp link c100 to it?
Brett, do you know any district restriction in the firmware of Lenovo Smart Clock? I also have a Google Home Mini. I understand it is officially release in Taiwan and hence it supports Mandarin. My 1st thought is that Lenovo Smart Clock should be similar to Google Home device. However, I cannot set Lenvovo Smart Clock to work in Mandarin. 😔
Before I understood much about the Google devices, I had set up my Nest thermostat using a gmail account a few years ago. When I added the Lenovo clock a few weeks ago, I used a different gmail account to set it up in Google Home. I have discovered that I cannot control the thermostat by voice from the clock (works fine from the Nest and the Home apps). I can access the thermostat from all the other Google devices I set up with the Nest gmail account. I think I need to do a factory reset on the clock and then add the device back with the nest gmail account. Does that sound like a reasonable thing to try or should I check with Lenovo just in case? Thanks for a super video - I had no idea the clock did so many tasks!
So, I can see my events of the day but, will it notify me of an upcoming event? (i.e. 15’ in advance as Google Calendar does)?
It is possible to set up / turn on alarms at specific time when you are away.. like on the way to home.
Brett quick question. Do you know if this works with the GE C Life bulbs. Using them now with a google mini but since those are connected through Bluetooth didn’t know if it was compatible. Thanks for the help!
As long as you still have your Minis plugged in this could control the lights but they are not able to directly connect to the bulbs.
Does it get darker than the Nest Hub?
I ask because I'm pretty sensative to light while I'm trying to sleep.
Can i use it on the go? Like can I take it camping? Or can it only be used at home when connected to home wifi ? @Tech With Brett
Besides the shape is there much of a difference between this one and the lenovo smart clock 2?
Hello, Great review!! I only have one question: I received this as a gift and I don't have Wifi network where I am going to use it. Is there a way to use it only as a desktop Clock without a wifi network ?
Hi
Awesome educational video. I am just trying to display my calandar but when I scroll across it my clock stops at weather. Can you offer a solution.
I am watching all your videos. That's for taking the time.
Thanks from Peter @Sydney Australia
Wow! This is cute! I'd love to buy it, only if I had enough money. xD
By the way, nice video! I'm happy you uploaded another one! :)
hahhaha get a job you lazy slob
@@charliew9538 Says you, your to young for one 🥺 It was a joke clearing that part out. Keep the negativity to yourself. I'm not interested in your reply either, cuz when I'm done with writing this I'm practically gonna smash that block button.
Can it tie an alarm to a specific radio station on pandora?
Hi
If screen reader is enabled on the smart clock or in the Home Hub, can I read a complete web article or the newspaper continually? I know Google Assistant Read it feature is just available on Android but is it worth that way? As Google assistant just gives very few spoken WEB results and Read it feature is not available on my Android tablet Huawei M5 Light which is a pity
Hey Brett! Another great video brother. Quick Question: Can you display the time in a 24-hour format or is it only AM/PM?
Yes you can! That setting can be found in the Google Home app.
Can you play specific songs for the alarm?
Does it have zoom function in accessibility settings? Did you tried any of those options?
Does any of those smart displays has a screen reader TalkBack?
Great question, I doubt it
Which one will be better GOOGLE NEST MINI or LENOVO SMART CLOCK????????I am getting those products by same price in india. I am in confusion. Pls reply
Shout out to you man!!!! I'm going to cover this device on my UA-cam Channel too man!!!
Is it possible to play music on a timer (like the iHome clocks) to help fall asleep? Also can you set an alarm using music or is it only the predetermined alarm sounds?
Yes
Before I ditch my alarm clock, does this support online radio like TuneIn?
yes im pretty sure
I don't know what platform it uses to perform the radio; but yes! It cam in fact play radio! Say hey google, or ok google. "Hey google, play the radio".
Please help me I have a Samsung smart TV with google assist installed, a Google home and a chromecast in my front room, but how do I set an alarm on my lanova clock from my front room???
I have the google nest hub, planning to buy more . Should I get more Nest hubs or these Lenovo?
I feel like the Nest Hub is a bit more complete with the Home View features but I like the simplicity of the Smart Clock.
I wanted to use this at my office for reminders. Silent reminders, since I work in an open office. Does it work like that?
I have looked for days and can't find where in settings you could block calls for example and also how in the world you were able to adjust the bedroom lights from the clock (how did you add that feature to the clock)?
Nice one
Does it give inside the house temperature also ?
Thanks Brett, too bad they can't be taught to respond to only one voice then might be able to have one on either side of the bed (his/hers) or maybe Lenovo will make a pair that acts like a bedroom set?
Does the smart clock retain time and alarms after a power outage?
Does anyone know if I can force the display to show the schedule all times, like a persistent schedule? Maybe I flip to it once in the morning but will it stay on that screen all day?
Can you add more tabs/screens if so how?
cant figure out how to play my library on the lenova. I just want the audio part of you tube videos. Don't know if this is possible. Maybe I need to get the premium you tube music? any suggestions
Have you ever experienced that when you want to talk to this clock and your phone which also had google assistant is near by, google assistant will get activated on it too? I would think that this would be irritating and can't think of a way to stop the two things from being activated at the same time.
Is this able to display notifications for calendar events?
