Thank you for this tutorial. It worked perfectly! The first thing I did was use the browser to load the youtube website, log in with my credentials, and then play a playlist that I created with those jazz/lounge music with coffee shop, beach, etc. backgrounds. Then set it to fullscreen. Great to have in my home office while I work. Movies play well on it too. I'm going to try to install Plex.
You can disable all the Google assistant stuff if you so wish and use the device without any of that stuff. Be sure to set your new launcher as default and you should be good to go
I found a key mapping app on FDroid so I was able to use that instead of having to install ApkPure first. I also mapped simultaneous vol up and down press to the home button so that I can still keep the volume controls.
Thanks brotha, you helped me to get rid of the "cast" thing as I managed to get ReVanced on it. The only issue is that the ram is 1gb but overall its a bit smooth

thanks works great! i have fully kiosk browser running with a Home Assistant dashboard.. BUT. only 1 issue, the service from the key binding app it getting disabled after 1 or 2 reboots... so i can`t get in the menu anymore, it still starts in the kiosk browser so thats fine...
If you open up the bottom panel there is a small pcb with the power connector and pogo pins. If you look closely there is also a small switch that gets locked in place when you put the bottom shell back on. Does this switch activate dev mode you think?
@@Azid333 You can enable developer mode, unfortuantely ADB is not possible as there is no USB port. Only way is to take the device apart and solder in a USB, then you can get ADB working, but i have not tried that
Have you looked up the "isearch start fyi" which the browser defaults to whenever you execute a search? You think you "exploit" something when in fact you're paying them to be exploited.
Cool. Thanks. I got one of these free when I bought another Lenovo product and so far I've not been terribly impressed. It doesn't do very much for the user and like you said is a data collection device. Meh. Hacking it may make it useful so I'm looking forward to your next video. All the best.
what i want is to be able to quickly and easily switch from the clock face to a browser, so do you know how i can make that possible? right now, i have to restart the device to get back to the clock face when im in the browser, and i want to streamline that process. and to get back in the browser, i have to get to the talkback settings, which just takes a long time.
Thank you, tutorial works well. I only found one problem. I want to use the clock as a night clock (and use my own melody, which the clock can't do in factory settings), I tried several apps, but the launcher always switches to the default screen after a few hours, i.e. the clock doesn't last overnight. I also tried three different lauchers, they always close any application after some time... Can you suggest any solution? Thanks a lot, keep up the great work.
I'm afraid I don't have any concrete info on this, it's just what I observed on the couple or blue units I have - no matter what setting I change, when the screen dims down on the blue units the screen seems to flicker and then turn off. I'm not sure what's causing this, some people on reddit have said they RMAd their devices for this issue
I believe other smart clocks have the browser / URL bar disabled. But if the browser and URL bar are accessible then I suppose this could work on other devices
I absolutely love my Smartclock 2! I got free with my new X30 Edge Ultra phone, along with an illuminating wireless charging dock for the phone. Hoping I can install some apps shortly. I get the feeling it will have some security precautions
Does the same process work on the gen 1 hardware? Edit: Dug out my old gen 1 device and the browser doesn't show on selecting the privacy policy. You can load a browser via the weather tab but the address bar isn't selectable so can paste in your own url. Maybe able to setup a proxy server to force a selectable redirection but given how slow the device is just switching tabs with the clock faces I suspect it be near impossible to actually run any apps
You can click on "privacy policy" when you ask: "send feedback" and after that say "Something". Then you get into the browser and you can download the apk file. The only problem is that it does not open the folders app. I tried everything but got stuck here. Is there any solution?
Does this hack still work or was it blocked in the meantime? I am thinking into buying several to use them as HMI through the house in home assistant and it it off the cloud, blocking it from the internet. Is it safe to buy, will it still work the hack?

Let us know if Plex worked or if BeeTv would work...anyone have any links to a small android remote that would work with it by chance?
When I click on privacy policy it just crashes and goes to the main screen. What should I do?
Couldnt access the screen reader setting from an iphone in the home app. Used an android device and it was there.
Good to know, thanks for commenting 👍
Once the official launcher is bypassed, does it work offline or without the app?
