Thank you! You are amazing. I watched almost all the videos regarding this smart clock and you're the only one, who showcased everything that this smart clock can do.
This looks great but I’m still hung up on two things. 1. A battery backup so you can still get an alarm during a power outage, and 2. It doesn’t look like there’s a radio tuner. I like to set my alarms to wake up to a radio station.
So #2 is easy...set a radio alarm or a music alarm and you're good! Hey Google, set a music alarm to radio_station_name for 7:00 AM. I leave the battery backup to you. :)
I just fired up my old Lenovo Smart Clock after a year of being turned off. It took a good 10 seconds before it appeared to do anything, but it has always done that. It went through the new Google device update thing and worked as good as new. Sound is worst out of all devices I have, but for the right price, even in 2022, this device would still make a great bedside clock with some smarts built in.
@@AutomateYourLife Not sure what they were doing, it downloaded instantly for me. Yes, everything was good and my old Lenovo Smart Clock, that had not been turned on for over a year, updated and linked without a hitch. Even joined a speaker group with other Google speakers :)
@@AutomateYourLife I ended up being pretty simple. Home app detected it, automatically prompted for more setup, automatically downloaded the Device Utility, device updated via Bluetooth, then linked to Home app. Okay. A little messy, but was doable lol
Hi. Love your videos. A question about Google Home Assistant My Places. I can add home and work addresses but unable to add additional locations! I can enter the details but it doesn't appear on the list..I have uninstalled and reinstalled Google Home but no luck in fixing. Can you suggest a fix. Thankyou so much Peter Sydney Australia
Yeah I saw that post in FB. Try the Google Assistant app instead maybe, and then if it won't, make sure you check in with support.google.com. Could also be permissions!
Just got this and happy with it overall. Only disappointing aspect is lack of Bluetooth out. I was hoping to pair a Bluetooth speaker to play audio as is possible with the Google Home/Nest smart speakers, but this device lacks that option
Picked up the clock a few days ago, and, guess what, every single clock face is capable of showing the current weather, simply long-press the display and tap the pencil icon of the clock face you want to edit. There's also additional colour options available. Plus, there's two additional clock faces: Featured photos and Google Photos, just scroll right to the end, you'll find them!
So this clock makes more sense than the $80. alarm clock that was not up to par at all. I still like my mini, it works at every thing i want in a bed room clock.I have other devises to do video and music from. But thanks for the great video, you killed it again. :-). If some one needs a clock like that it should work just fine. See ya again in your next presentation. I am off to make fresh bread.
Yes via google photos. Just press and hold on a clock face and when you see the selection of clock faces swipe to the right until you see Gogo photos. Click that and then choose the desired section on the menu.
Hey Evelyn, You could use a Routine that says "Stop" and causes the device to stop at a certain time. You could also set the volume to 0 within a routine at whatever time you want. But the easiest is when you're starting the music to say "Play music for X hours"
@@AutomateYourLife I chance the settings in good night routine to play music for 3 hours then stop but that didn't work it just kept playing music. It didn't stop.
@@AutomateYourLife Sorry I didn’t mean to say feet it auto corrected. I meant to say feed. I have the nest doorbell and on the nest hub when somebody rings the doorbell the feed shows on nest hub. I was just wondering if it will do the same on those alarm clocks.
Can we create custom faces on this device? I want to use it as a desk clock for my gaming setup, which I kind of have a cyberpunk theme going on, so I want something with some neon colors to tie in with the theme.
I haven't seen the ability to create custom faces for this. What you could look at doing is maybe getting a Google Nest Hub and setting the background just to a few you want.
Thank you for all this great information! My husband had bought me this clock and I love it. Recently I saw it on sale at Best Buy, so I purchased one for him as well. It’s still in the box, thoughts on 2 clocks in one room? Can it work?
2 clocks in one room are just fine, but likely to cause you to be frustrated by which one answers you when you say hey Google. Otherwise, I think you'll enjoy it!
If you have one set to one google account and the other to another account and set up a voice match, they won't answer if they hear the wrong voice(more accurate masculine vs feminine voices but still).
It works with my Roku TV! In fact, it can be so much faster than me using my remote as it would take me multiple steps to open an app, type what I am looking for and then play said thing. Like if I want to watch Rick and Morty, I can say: "Hey Google, Play Rick and Morty on my TV" It answers "Okay playing Rick and Morty on Kris Roku". It turns on my TV, opens HBO Max, and immediately plays Rick and Morty on my TV(usually it will play the next episode of whatever show you ask it if you've watched some or it will play the first episode). It works with just about any show you have access to on a Roku TV or Roku Device(you do have to set up the connection between the devices though, i.e. give permission).
It's buggy, current issues include no media alarm when net drops out, no backup alarm, sound cast or Bluetooth drops out after about 10mins going to it...
Made me sad to, over 15yrs looking for a device this could be! Plays my media, does alarms. I've done mini stereos, old skool alarm clocks, mp3 players, like river docks Of all kinds, old nokia phones, then htc phones... The big battery backed up one i had forever has finally decided to call it! I hoped this would be the thing, maybe some ability to mod it, but I'd have done better to buy a Android phone!
Any alarms using the Google Assistant are lost when the WiFi is out, but come back when the WiFi returns. So no, you don't lose the alarm...but you could miss it if there's no connection at time of alarm.
You can use an app called FING(free in the Play Store) to cast to it from your phone and therefore specific episodes of a podcast will play on the smart clock.
Hi Renee, thanks! Yes you can, but there are only a certain set of cameras that show up on Google Assistant displays. So check that list on Google support!
