- Will Ramos grabbed our attention in "To The Hellfire" when we last looked at Lorna Shore, and I was shocked and amazed as to the demonic sounds he could produce. We're checking him out again prior to my interview with Will, which can be found in our Interview Playlists:

I love watching people become metal fans in real time =D
It's such a great thing to see!
We were all there once. It’s great!
Big facts
To add to that; especially jumping into death metal as opposed to the old school and softer metal. 👍
It's almost comparable to when people open Christmas gifts, it's a beautiful thing! 😁
So excited to see you check this one out. Way more symphonic and composed than "To The Hellfire", and in my opinion, and absolute masterpiece. Also, I just like seeing you get scared by metal vocalists. 😂
Also, whoever dislikes these videos before they even premier definitely didn't get hugged as a child.
I always love your comments :D
Or perhaps they missed some trips to the woodshed. I always give the videos a thumbs up before, during, or after. This in spite of the fact that I have not been hugged as an adult by Elizabeth. I love this song, I thought your reaction to it was awesome and I can't wait to see Elizabeth's take. Also, I am super jealous of your beard.
I think we all like seeing her get scared by metal vocalists :P Your reaction to this song was epic as well, btw.
Of the Abyss is even better. I would love to see her react to the live video of it.
Absolutely agree. Of The Abyss is the best of the three. :D
I love this channel because Elizabeth is just as stoked to interview James LaBrie as she is Will Ramos. Generally, if you were to show ...And I Return To Nothingness to someone who's not a metalhead, they'll just grimace and immediately shut down. Elizabeth's open-mindedness and professionalism lets her appreciate (extreme) metal, which gives me the opportunity to learn how to better appreciate music, metal, and vocalists. So happy to have found The Charismatic Voice.

What are you trying to say, there are a few words missing and the message isn't conveyed clearly.
Will is amazing. But the other band member's do not get enough credit in my opinion. The drummer, from the sound of his double bass should hold an Olympic leg press record.
He is a machine gun. He is a fucking machine gun!!!
for sure, I'm a huge fan of will and how he sounds with the band, but there's a reason they've been through 3 vocalists and are still making bangers
Austin is such an integral part of the overall writing / end product. He is truly exceptional - 100% one of the best in the scene
He and the drummer from Archspire are my GOATs rn
Austin is a beast. Been with them since the beginning too.
I really appreciate how as a classically trained professional, you still have this appreciation/awe for the skill and talent for styles that are definitely outside of your normal wheelhouse.
I guess that her true message towards (all) music appreciation :) love her for that
She's gotta be the least elitist person in music ever. It's so refreshing
I really think that the italian saying "una faccia, una razza" (a face, a race) perfectly applies to metal fans and classical fans. I became interested in classical music after years and years of metal for example, and my classical fans friends became metalheads after years and years of classical music
“Flapping Flesh Burp”
That’s definitely a line in an Infant Annihilator song, right?
maybe but lets not scare her out of this metal phase
@@daramdomgamer_4120 🤣🤣🤣 no shit. She starts hearing shit about fisting fractured fetuses she'll never be back.
No it's not shut up Infant Annihilator sucks
@@jonssgoodlan1433 damn who pooped in ur breakfast today
It's gotta be
I've never heard a non-finnish band sound so finnish.
Lol, I thought the exact same thing when I first heard this. Same vibes from the music video too
Give Shylmagoghnar - Transience album a listen. They do what Insomnium does but much, much better. I don't remember where they are from but Finland it was not.
This one really shows their black metal influence.
I agree. His high vocals in this are black metal af. I love it
NIGGA METAL #BLM
No way. Without vocals it sounds more like power metal :)
@@BZWNGR not really. It does sort of have that “happy” power metal sound but the darker melodies and tremolo picking/blastbeats are more post-black sounding to me. Think more Borknagar/Emperor than Mayhem.

If "Into the Hellfire" was the sound of some great beast crawling out of a stygian pit, then "And I Return to Nothingness" is the soundtrack to that same beast, now freed, going on a rampage. I love how the symphonic elements impart an almost sorrowful, haunting quality. I love how the band members use their absurd virtuosity not for empty showboating, but to impart a sense of great urgency and near chaos (are you sure that's not Krakino on drums?). I love how Will employs his vocal mastery. His rapid fire, staccato grunts, lion-like roars, and blood curdling Nazgul shrieks give this monster a voice that is utterly inhuman yet complex and somehow emotionally resonant. Elizabeth barely made it out of "Into the Hellfire " with her sanity, will she survive this musical apocalypse? Well, where there is Will, there's a way.
Goddamn that’s some nice word play at the end. I see what you did there. 😂🤘🏻
@@SaiyanHershel You Shore did! 🤘😁
Really happy for Will and Lorna Shore with their success. Normally, when a band is on its third vocalist, it’s not a good thing, and people are all like, “I liked their old stuff.” Will Ramos is a rare example of an absolute beast taking the band to new heights
My lady, you need one more song in this EP! “Of the abyss”
P.S. His one take “To the Hellfire” thank you! :D
Yes do the one take video of Will Ramos...its insane
Yes! This!
I'm keeping all my fingers crossed that her, and Julia both do reactions of Will's one take performance
He just released a new one take of of the abyss 👌🏻
@@RoestiF I saw it yesterday! Dude it was just as awesome! 🤟🏼🤘🏼
I almost took the EP as being the Divine Comedy by Dante. Into the Hellfire as Inferno, Of the Abyss as Pergatorio, And I Return to Nothingness as Paradiso. It's a perfectly crafted EP either way.
You shocked me with your analysis... well done
@@angelfreedom911 lol I know it was not intended to be that way but I have an imagination. The ambiance of each song fits that aswell.
Wow! I've never thought about that sort of correlation. Good one! :)
How come everyone's renaming the song as "Into" The Hellfire!!
@@abeginnerspov5968 Its an error thats easy to make? The mind fills in the word by experience. In English, Into the Hellfire is normally how the phrase would be structured as a title. However, Lorna Shore chose 'to'. Pretty basic psychology there.
I'm willing to bet a fair chunk of change that if someone had said to you two years ago "One day soon, you're going to be nerding out on extreme deathcore metal", that you'd probably have thought they were barking mad!
Excellent job as usual.
His one take of To the Hellfire is insanity. Pure talent and training.
I need a Before "Hellfire" Elizabeth and Elizabeth now meme. She's so much more confident and not caught off guard in this video than in "To the Hellfire". Proud of you!
I imagine it being something like this 😂
Before Hellfire Elizabeth:
"you guys have said this one is really hardcore! haha let's see! 😄"
During Hellfire Elizabeth:
"what kind of demonic summoning has the internet roped me into??? 👁👄👁"
After Hellfire Elizabeth:
"have you considered adding an opera singer (me) to your metal band? here's a 10 page essay as to why you should add a opera singer (me) to your metal band 🎤🙆♀️"
@@luxtobeyou XD Would absolutely love some soaring operatic vocals descending into a guttural breakdown though!
The hellfire will do that to ya.
Even while listening to deathcore, you are the most joyful, excited and engaged person I have ever witnessed. Your giggles and smile are so contagious and adorable 💕
Then there's Nik! Scared and disgusted, always.
Will's vocals are unique in their fluidity, if not in the individual sounds. Most of his styles have been done before, but he's like a linguist comparing languages. His versatility alone is stunning. And he does a mean pig squeel too! Great analysis!
That's a great way to summarize what makes him so great in my eyes. Like, don't get me wrong. When I heard Will do nearly the same exactly snort/snarl bit that Dickie Allen originally did in Unholy Gravebirth I was like, "wait wait this dude's just jacking shit!" lol, but once I heard a few more tracks and especially now with these vocal playthrus it's exactly like you said: he's borrowing and learning from so many greats before him and putting it all together so creatively and flawlessly. Been super stoked about this live series.
@@user-oc6gh3hi8r rude much?
Fluidity is a great point… a lot of these kinds of vocals are delivered staccato, punctuated by breaths, snarls, or whatever. But Will does kind of a melismatic harsh vocal that is really something else.
You should check out To the hellfire One take vocal preformance by Will himself, and aslo check out Of the abyss from EP, my personal favourite!

I just love that these incredible musicians get recognized for how much technique is used to create such a powerful sound. Great review and analysis Elizabeth, as always!
In case you aren't aware, those high notes he's hitting towards the end of the runs in the guitar solo are called "Pinch Harmonics". It's a special technique when you strike the guitar string with your pick and your finger in a precise way to produce that squeal for pretty much any note. That's what Dimebag used in the main hook riff in Cemetery Gates!
Also while I'm here, I have to recommend you react to the phenomenal up and coming Finnish band Beast in Black. I have a feeling their song Midnight Rendezvous would rock your socks.
And I can't mention Beast in Black without an honorable mention for Battle Beast, who's singer was featured on an awesome power metal ballad by the legendary Hammerfall called Second to One.
I just finished listening to Cemetery Gates.. thank you for this! I'm only pissed because I have a cold and can't hear as well as I normally do.. arghh
14:26 "The Flesh That Is Vibrating" would be an incredible song title
And flesh bubbled forth
this song also has one of the greatest guitar solos i’ve ever heard. it’s been a while since i’ve been truly amazed at how beautiful a solo sounds besides it’s complexity
Yeah. Haven’t heard one that good since In My Last Mourning by Thy Light
I kicked and punched the air when I saw you interviewed him. Super stoked to watch the interview after this!... also huge Morbid Angel vibes from this track.
Morbid Angel and Dimmu Borgir influence for sure.
the whole EP is AMAZING im really excited to watch this!!
I love when people actually take the time to appreciate metal, and especially the vocals! It’s 100% vocal talent and skill that takes years of practice to master. It’s WAY more than just screaming
I've been listening to metal for a long time now and you have helped me fall in love with it all over again. It's so nice to see someone appreciate as much as metal fans do. Especially someone as insightful and well versed as yourself. Thank you
If you want to hear good enunciation with metal vocals look up Lamb of God. Randy, the vocalist, is very clear in what he says while screaming. It's very impressive.
Amen brother
Hi Elizabeth, this is my first time listening to this song, and I enjoyed the performance. Will's vocals were amazing, from the deep growls to the high screams, and the sounds that he produced were astounding. And every member of the band is incredibly talented, especially the drummer. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
You know, I strongly recommend checking out Gojira. Joe is a unique vocalist in that his growls actually have a pitch, and it's really interesting to hear and I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially now that you're much better acquainted with metal of all kinds. I'd recommend starting with the song "Stranded," but "Flying Whales" or "Sphinx" would work, too. Love your videos though and looking forward to watching your interview with Will after work tonight.
Stranded was the first song of theirs I heard and I was hooked ever since.
Flying whales is top 3 intros.
YES YES YES! And Stranded is also a good one because it has clean singing too so Elizabeth can compare and contrast. I think Elizabeth would also love The Art of Dying - but more for the weird time signature. I think it would tickle her to work out what it is! 😉
Definitely. Gojira is amazing
I would also recommend „Global Warming“, it’s just incredible!
2:08 You made your first Official "Metal Face" Welcome to the family Elizabeth, you are one of us now. Love your channel. :)
I've been so excited for this! Will is amazing!
Dreams come true. He's doing things I always dreamed of, beyond excited for the interview.
"The Flapping of Different Kinds of Flesh..." I do believe you've guessed a song title from their next album. ;)
The thing I love about your videos is that all the ways music hits me you're able to put into words. I really appreciate you giving my love of the intricacy of music a playbook.
You are literally my favourite person right now Elizabeth. Now matter how low I feel I literally squirm with happiness at your genuine joy and passion for all things musical and vocals. Ive never seen natural enjoyment for anything like you do with music.
You are a treasure!
I love the detailed analysis that you give for the metal singers which is a genre that has been overlooked by many vocal coaches until recently, a wonderful video showing you knowledge and enthusiasm in equal measure.
I think you would be fascinated (as I was) by the one take "To the Hellfire" video Will Ramos made, I am sure you will have fun looking in greater depth how he makes those ungodly noises.
All the best!
You should watch Will’s one take playthrough of “To The Hellfire” absolutely insane.
She has already reacted to that song though: ua-cam.com/video/HZaVXE5UqaQ/v-deo.html
@@TorIverWilhelmsen yes I know but not his one take playthrough though.
@@AshieRawrGoes yeah, she's already seen it I think. In her interview with Will she talks about the one-take.
Seeing an opera singer enjoying this, is priceless. What a great analysis. I'm listening metal by 30 years now, and I love this "new" kind of music/musicians. Really impressive. Thx Elizabeth for open your ears and mind to this. Subscribed. 🤘🏽
All three of these songs give me chills every single time, masterpiece of an EP
22:58 I can feel the epicness gradually in your face after that key change from D# to F# minor at the climax.
I simply cannot stress this enough. His one vocal take video of "To the Hellfire" is absolutely wild! No editing or doctoring just raw vocals.
Loved this. Heightens appreciation for the music really breaking the moments down.
I love how you've evolved through listening to this type of music. Even developing the metal face when you hear something epic a vocalist is doing.lol 😠 is the perfect face face for feeling the soul of a scream. Lol
Hi, Elizabeth. You've now done two, so you now HAVE to complete the set by reacting to 'Of The Abyss'. It's guaranteed to push your scareability factor to the limit.
My favourite song from Lorna Shore ♥️
Mine too, it’s just too beautiful ! 🖤
Agreed. It's perfection!
I like how you have a less shocked reaction to his voice this time and now you're more observing it than reacting to it. You make a lot of very on the point observations about the vocals the extreme metal vocalists do and I really enjoyed the videos about Will's technique. Subscribed.
I love when you said it gives you shivers. I’ve tried to explain that to non metal heads and they just don’t get it! It’s sooo nice to see an open perspective and even excitement for harsh vocals from a background like you have. Love it
The whole EP is a masterpiece !
Something tells me that you would totally love Cattle decapitation's Travis Ryan goblin-like vocals 😂
AWWW man, Cattle Decapitation... SO fucking GOOOD
fuck it might as well go all out and react to Tallah
Loved the interview!
Absolutely loved this - totally made my day! 😁
And that shirt is too awesome! 🤣
I highly recommend Trivium! Singer Matt Heafy has been singing since age 16 professionally and his progression up to now (he is 35 now) is worth analyzing.
Have a great weekend!
Anything off of the "Shogun" album. An absolute masterpiece. The title track would be great for her to react to.
@@doghousereilly3795 I also loved the in waves album.
@@theglitchguardian some great stuff on in waves as well. I just think Shogun has the best of the 4 members musicianship, Matt's vocals (both heavy growls/screams and lighter singing), and storytelling in the lyrics. IMO it's the perfect metal album.
Watched this like 3 times already! I just love how excited you get when you hear something you like! I really appreciate folks like you who don't judge a book by its cover and actually dive into the meaning behind the lyrics.
I would love to see you react to the Given Up (originally linkin park) cover that Alex Terrible did! Its amazing 👏 🖤🤘

I'm SO excited for you to see this!
The BEST song by them so far. Absolutely amazing.
To the Hellfire One take performance
I was waiting for her reaction to his high vocal towards the end. I love all the educational parts we learn from your channel and I love the faces you make when you are wowed because my face does the same thing 😂. This is my favorite song by Lorna Shore. I love the other songs with the hard breakdowns, but something about this one speaks to the pit of my soul.
Omg! I’ve been listening to this ep so much, and thought how amazing it’d be to see you do this song. And low and behold!!
I love this song. A masterclass of an EP.
Amazing! You've got me into Lorna Shore, Elizabeth! Love the way you demonstrate the 'egg in the back of the mouth' technique in this one! Would be ace to see / hear you demonstrate more when you're describing how sound is produced 😀. Oh, and, when can we expect your first duet with Floor?! 😀
Great reaction bud. Glad to see you giving extreme music a chance. There's lots of amazing music in these gwnres just like all others
Looking forward to this!
Austin Archey is one if the best "composers " in the metal game rn he dose a majority of the writing for LS
Sick drummer
I loved watching her get enraptured by the two key changes in the last hook. I wish I could relive when I first heard that. My eyes welled up just the slightest bit. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
Catching up on your videos and I love hearing how you feel like you’re in a video game slaying. That’s what metal is for a lot of us, for a couple of minutes we’re in another world.
You're something special for this one. Well done!
"of the abyss" by Lorna shore is a must listen
Wish this was today because I got the day off, definitely gotta watch this. 🤘
I thought it was today today

Love all the lorna shore coverage!!
I'm so glad you watched through the entire 2nd key change, it's so beautiful
Such an entertaining reaction!!! Thank you so much for digging into Lorna Shore. Now you need to hear the last song of the EP. "Of the Abyss". It's the best song of the EP in my opinion.
Would love to see you react to Cattle Decapitation. Their singer, Travis Ryan, has some really crazy ranges as well, and his "clean" melodic parts sound akin to a bridge troll. Most recently he's included some really low actual clean singing as well.
Bring Back the Plague, Kingdom of Tyrants, and Ave Exitium + Pacific Grim are all stand outs, but their masterpiece is an epic cinematic video they did "The Unerasable Past", which is the closer to their most recent release Death Atlas (technically a combo of the songs The Unerasable Past as prelude to the title track). Travis really showcases his range and styles there. Super react worthy, amazing song and video. PLEASE!!
Your disposal and lifestalker off monolith would work also!
i've probably commented this before but i love that you pointed out his hand movements. you only get snippets in lorna shore mvs, but i love watching him express with his hands as he screams. hes like an orchestra conductor but just for himself.
Love this channel she is a metal fan now, even recognizing Blast beats, appreciating brutality, LOVE IT give us more deathcore vocalist reactions
How can she blink in sync with the blast beats? Definitely a talent on it's own!
I love how you go into any reaction of review of songs from any genre with an open mind. It is really refreshing and healthy to see.
That being said, I would really really appreciate it if you can react to System of a Down- Aerial and Poets of the Fall- Locking Up The Sun. Both have amazing vocalists with really amazing range and voice. I think you will enjoy listening to both of them.
Very very cool that you are digging into this realm of metal and giving it its respects. Absolutely was not expecting a tea time interview with this guy, cannot wait to watch it. Thanks Elizabeth! Check out Cattle Decapitation -Bring Back the Plague :)
Love how now vocal coaches appreciate this kind of music. Preach on sister! 🤘
Ok.. we're all in love with Will's vocals, but can we talk about the drummer real quick, cause that's talent 🤩
The intro is very phantom of the opera. I try to explain to people this metal is so much closer to like classical or sometimes operatic music but they can't get past the harshness. This is why I like it it blends classic with energy
Yea the intro on this song really hooks me into it and makes me want to keep listening. I often relate the intro with a Christmas choral song.
I love you, Liz. You're the best!
Awesome, thanks for this!
I'm new to your channel and really love how you breakdown and analyze these vocal performances. Just curious if you've ever considered reviewing any of Kate Bush's work- I think your analysis would be fascinating. Again- thank you for your channel 🙏
Some cradle of filth would be awesome Dani's vocals i feel are also unique haven't heard of a metal singer like him
I keep saying this! So many of these bands that are now hitting the spotlight have clearly been influenced by Dani and others
Dani Filth forever. Also I totally feel Lorna's black metal vibes SCREAM cradle of filth inspo.
Yes, this vocals actually reminds me Dani Filth ;D
@@juliopacheco2900 definitely! The goblin 😈
Has Elizabeth ever react to Dir en Grey?
I always love seeing someone approach metal with such open minded-ness, and what you said about metal musicians is completely spot on. You'll be hard pressed to find better musicianship and mastery, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. A band I would like to recommend who has released a new album recently is Inferi. I'd highly recommend anything of of their recent album "Simian Hive". Thank you for the content.
I love seeing her reaction and loving it. It's amazing seeing music bridge people. ❤
I love how her immediate reaction when Will opened up was a stank face lmao
What always strikes me about the extreme metal that I tend to enjoy is how it almost always gets a physical reaction out of me. Sometimes it's like an adrenaline dump, or I get chills, or I sweat, stuff like that. It's wild to me how visceral it can be
My 3rd go around...I'm still excited to see you so excited 😊
It sounds like you’re going to get more into technique in your interview with this guy than in your other interviews. Can’t wait!
Of the abyss next. My favorite from the EP. I also get goosebumps while listening.
Anything lorna shore im all for, but with will on vocals they've hit they're peak. Such a good fit with the band.
ive returned to the past. i love these old videos. it seems like it was the beginning of something special in the music communities and reactions. you and will really changed the playing field online
Your face expressions are priceless like seriously this has to be the best recation channel maybe ever lmao
I'd love to see some Infant Annihilator reactions. I feel they were a huge inspiration for a lot of vocalists, but also drummers and guitarists. They were the band that inspired me to start learning harsh vocals
More Lorna Shore 😈😈😈!
P.s. I strongly advise you to listen to the Cattle Decapitation band! Vocalist Travis Ryan is a monster capable of a lot!
I would love to see a Cattle Decap reaction, her reaction to Travis' "goblin singing" would be awesome!
Thank you, I was going to recommend this again.

1000%. Ive wanted to see a cattle decap reaction for soo long.
And Travis Ryan created the tunnel throat technique
I love your channel and I always appreciate your insight on Metal vocals and how you can appreciate them coming from a different background. My recommendation is the Italian symphonic metal band, Fleshgod Apocalypse. Any of these 3 songs are worth checking out. “This Day We’ll Be Gone(acoustic or non acoustic,” “Epilogue,” and “Cold as Perfection”
I chose these because they prominently feature Veronica Bordacchini Who is a very talented opera singer. Her voice in contrast with the heavy metal vocals is INCREDIBLE.
That high at the end of the song is the best part for me. It feels like the whole song is building to it and i can't help but physically react to it every time i hear it.
