Love this video! Funny enough though I don’t know if this was just my 462 it’s only a year old and hasn’t cut all that much in my opinion. But I went to clean my saw and popped the top lid and 2 cooling fins are just broken off.
I bought a 462 second hand and it has two broken cylinder fins. Unfortunately didn't notice them until I got it home. Did you have an accident with it at all?
All in favour of better anti-vib. Grunt has its place as does capacity but so does good health. You can have the best saw suitable for your needs but if your health is shot, the saw is worth parts.
Man, that 462c is a beast. So light, smooth, fast, and nimble. A true predecessor to Husky's 372xp. Unlike that overweight and bloated 572. Stihl out Husqvarna'd Husqvarna.
@austindenotter19 I'm not a Stihl fan. I'm born and raised on post Electrolux Jonsered. I truly think the late 371 is the best pro saw in existence. The 365s is the best firewood saw in history. But Stihl is literally crushing Husqvarna right now... And for good reason. Stihl took the 372 and modernized it, making more power and less weight. Husky didn't. They have a poor selling, overweight 70cc saw that is nothing even remotely related to the 372. Their sales are below echo, they are having sweeping layoffs, and outsourcing parts from China... On their professional saws. The 5 series is a disaster. They literally recommend entire short blocks to replace seals. What was the warranty claim ratio for the 550, 559, 562?? 10.9%!! That's over 1 out of every ten saws being broken from the factory. What's Stihl's warranty ratio in the same time frame? 0.16%!! Which saw is easier to work on? Easier to recalibrate? Easier to modify? Is lighter? Is smaller? Heck the Stihl 79cc is over a pound lighter than the 71cc Husky. And they have nothing in the pipeline, no innovation, and are being outsold almost 3 to 1 in the professional market. It's a shame, and heartbreaking what Husqvarna has become.
@austindenotter19 Do you remember when we used to bash the 046 for being a few ounces heavier and slower chain speed than the 372? I do. Because the higher torque means nothing with a fast chain. Right? That's what we said. And it's all about weight to power. Not to mention the smooth anti vibe. That's what made the 371/372 so dominant. Fast acceleration, lightweight, and smooth. Where's that opinion now? The exact same excuses the Stihl fanboys made about the 046 for decades .. is precisely what Husky guys are saying about the 572. It's almost copy and paste.
@KarlPoorbaugh But husky didn't create it. That's all 80's tech from jonsered they literally bought. And don't mistake Husqvarna tech for what they copied from jonsered. Air injection; jonsered. Two piece top cover; jonsered Three screw top cover; jonsered High mount muffler; jonsered Clasp on air filter; jonsered. Single piece coil; jonsered. Remember, husky had the single screw one piece top cover bolted directly into the cylinder, had a screw attached air filter into the intake of the carburator, had a flat low mounted muffler, all until they bought jonsered. Almost every innovation Husqvarna made, from port timing to plastics was taken directly from jonsered. So you can't say Stihl copied, as an excuse for the current failures of husky.
I bought two 461's just before they got replaced by the 462 and they are still in boxes but after running the 462 nobody wants a 461 anymore. They are worth nothing now that the 462 does everyrhing better then the 461.
Love the 462 videos. I have one and appreciate the knowledge you pass on about maintaining these saws!
I like my 462. The power is amazing for how light it is with a 24” light bar. Starts easy, good balance and power. It’s the total package.
Great to here your back in happy spirits, cracking jokes after your foot 🦶 has healed up.. 😂🎉😊
Another great and very informative show Donny 👍 thanks for sharing Johno Darwin NT Australia 🇦🇺
G'day John, you wouldn't want a heated handle in the top end 👍.
Awesome 462 video. Thanks for sharing. I have one I need to send you my friend to work your magic with. Stay safe, and God bless
Thanks Donny some very good info on those saws 👍👍😎
Another great video Donny. Would love to see some MS 460 and 461 videos.

@ no accident, bought it off the shelf.
Thanks!
Donny...I just love the 462 manual carb you did for me!!!💪. I have felt the 462 has a better filtration system than the 461.
Can we get a ported 462 vs ported 572 video ? Maybe with Buckin?
Happy Thanksgiving.
Interesting do you take on orders?
Keep up the good work don
Thanks for sharing man! Now I'm off to move some snow here in East central Saskatchewan. Take care.
And here in Edmonton
Good job
As thirsty as that 500i is, stihl is probably doing you fellers a favor by not having a heated handle
If I had a good Stihl dealer I would have a 462!
Is there any difference in power or throttle response between the carb or M-tronic 462?
I'd get one if I didn't already have a 500. What's your view of the 400?
My 461 stays in the shed vs my 372s just because of air filtration and weight. Runs great though.
G'day Donny, why do some ported saws on you tube appear to be hunting at idle ?
All in favour of better anti-vib. Grunt has its place as does capacity but so does good health. You can have the best saw suitable for your needs but if your health is shot, the saw is worth parts.
462 best chainsaw I've used so far thinning to waste
How much does it cost for port polish .Just say 372 x torque and muffler

Predecessor? Successor would be the correct term. Tough being a stihl fan.😂😂😂

Stihl had to copy the 90s tech of Husky to catch up in 2020.
😅😅

I'd be surprised if they are worth nothing, I'm pretty sure people still want them and you could get good money for them.
Interested in selling one of the 461's? @toenails
Do you need to do any reset of the m tronic system after porting on the 462? Got a fiend wants me to do his up. Thanks
