Great vid I just ported my 462 I feel it got good gains out of it I cut base an chamber to lower the roof to try an boost it's tq up my saw is new but older style piston
With all the the great videos you do and with all the experience you have stihl should be looking for you and guys like you for input. Its cool Husqvarna talks with you about issues and make me like Husqvarna that much more
Very interesting video about the piston wear on the Stihl 462. I agree I think saw manufactures should warranty saws based on time or hours the saws run.
Sounds like to me they fixed the problem on the new upgrade 462cm cant want to see the differents how they rum th thaks donny love my 462cm kerp video coming bud
Great video Donny. I've noticed the top heavy piston wear from a few of the strato-port pistons. Seems like alot of them have short skirts that don't stabilize them. Hope Husky kept the costs down for the full wrap kits, Strange the 585xp doesn't come with a heat option. Take care Jim
Those new 592s are sure a beast...I can not wait to see the improvements you find for them! The old saws would just be getting broke in and starting to really run well at 90 hours. Not be toast...🙄
Nice video! I have seen the same issue on the older version 462. I am going to take a brand new regular carb version and put a hole from the intake port into the strato port to get more oil mix onto the piston and port the saw, then run the saw on Bell-Ray at 32:1 and see how that holds up. It has been crickets here on the 585xp, I have been waiting a while on a test one and to hear there will be no heated handle version is very disappointing, I will spend the money converting a MS660 or go with a Arctic 661 if that is the case. I really like Gordy's 3 pt dogs but they give up too much bar length for east coast falling. I wish he would make a shorter version of them. His video on testing his 462/500 side cover is pretty cool.
Good day donny , I know in Pennsylvania where I live most of the saw dealer's give you usually 2 warranty , now days I know the husqvarna shop gives you a 2 year an a 5 year option , not sure if stihl offers the same but your absolutely rite 90 hours should have been warrantied
Hey Donny glad I caught you here. I mailed some MacMillan Bloedel stickers to you today. Should show up at the Saw Shop early next week. There is 3 stickers . One for yourself and I’d appreciate if you could give one to Johnny and one to your Dad for me Thanks Donny Take Care
Donny can I ask your opinion on this saw vs the 500i for firewood. Currently run a 272XP but due to husqvarna dealers all vanishing in my area and none within an hour drive, I’m considering a stihl cause I’ve Got 3 stihl dealers all within 20 minutes of me. Want something to run 24-28 inch bar in strictly hardwood. Price is no object. Thank you.
Donnie I have a question have you ever seen a fix for the choke on a 038 magnum. I have a 038 mag from Brazil its a great running saw when you get it started its just that damn choke.
Good video Mr.Donny ,thanks .On a side note next time you are cooking steaks and or burgers on the campfire try putting a mess of dougfir bark in the fire ,let it go to embers then cook on them You will never cook a steak or a burger on any other kind of wood the taste is so good!
How could a fella shopping for a ms462 know without tearing down the saw what piston and cylinder it has? I think it’s great that you advocate for the folks that buy saws from you. A lot of dealers just rep the manufacturer. I’ll remember that when it’s time for me to buy new saws.
Same question as below, though slightly different: is there any way to tell via serial number or date of purchase if you have an old one or a new one? Thank you!
After I bought a 500i, I second guessed myself wondering if I should have got the 462. I’m now glad I went for the 500. But hey, only time will tell. Though why oh why did Stihl think it a god idea to fit a plastic housed clutch bearing? Even with regular greasing, those things only last 20+ hours. I now buy clutch bearings for the 500i five at a time.
HI DONNY U talk about the piston on a saw it was the way it was made 2 heavy on 1 side an out of balance 1 side is going 2 wear faster than the other OMG 3 14 2O23
@@donnywalker4691 I actually have seen a number of them at dealers in my area here in Pennsylvania. They seem to be a coveted item for those who don't like the MTronic technology. Thanks for your reply!
@@thebradleysoncatbirdhill6849 I wasn't aware they were available stateside. If I ever ran across one I'd probably pick it up and unload my mtronic version. I knew that released a carb version 661 in the states a couple years ago so why not a 462 ?
I can't wait till the Aussie dollar is back up to your guys dollar buy so many chainsaws off don it's not funny thanks for another good video my friend
Donnie when they go ma come out with a 5120 ? I think an auto tune 5120xp that spins like my 550xp would be the fastest saw on the planet as a stock saw. Yep a 5120xp would smoke the 891 and 3120xp in my opinion lol
@@donnywalker4691 I just ment they don’t come on the saw from husqavarna, seems greedy. That stump lower to the ground crap don’t fly. Plus computerized not adjustable. Thank you for your videos!!
How this channel doesn't have 10's of thousands of subscribers is beyond me...
Looking forward to your video with the fallers and the 7310. Always good to hear what the pros say about the new saws!
Had a 462 a couple of weeks ago where the piston designated on the cut out side. The 585 has not come to Australia yet but waiting for the arrival.
Donny great video very informative glad to here about the 462 thinking about purchasing a new one

That’s going to be a pretty solid saw
Thanks Donny👍
Would you say it’s a safe bet for one with a date of manufacture of 06/2022 that it has the updated piston?

I wish they would make a smaller set of the 3 points for the 462 as well. Really like my wcs 3 points but the eat up a lot of bar for what I do.
You could always shorten them?

Way I understand is the made in Germany is silver instead of white on the new version 462’s
Change was made in April of 21. Check the saw forums to find the break off serial number.
Just saved me from buying a 462. Thanks
