Very tricky and thinkfull! But didn't you hope the tree to slide all along the rail till the end? I think you were pretty lucky on this one, cause usually the tree remains stuck even after having moved a little at the bottom... The best and simplest quick way to me is allways to cut the trunk at an angle as high as you can, so that the tree makes a fall as hard as possible, that often helps to unhook it.
My simple way might be different but since I only cut for firewood, I just cut 4'-0 sections. off the bottom until it's down. I hate wasting time and sacrificing any log material. But hey it was nice to see another option I will probably never use.
That is probably a safer way, but not as elegant as this one. For the average joe or an somewhat experienced guy like me, I'd opt for your sollution. This version, you really know what you are doing and I am still far from that even though I cut down trees as often as I can. So I cut it in 30cm/1ft sections all the way until the tree is pretty much standing upright. If able, I'd then yank it over with some kind of winch. His way of doing this is cool and it saves the log if you are supposed to make logs out of it. However, if the average joe makes a mistake like this, then he should give up the $$ and let it go for firewood instead. It is not worth the risk at all.
Outstanding!!! But simple? I don't think so. anything which causes you to spend so much time thinking and checking angles is not so simple. And you need a long bar saw with you. But this takes nothing away from the brilliant ingenuity of the solution. Bravo!
I meant to add that if the hinge was broken (and this wasn't) I would always try a long-handled cant hook first to see if the tree could be 'rolled out'. If it fails, it only wastes 3 minutes. But this makes me think that your chain winch could also be simply employed to help here in a dense stand with many anchor possibilities. Either to pull the stem off the stump or wrapped round it to roll the trunk as would the cant hook.
Borecutting is not for the faint at heart when the tree is hung like this. While he obviously knows what he's doing, this is a situation where the average Joe can really get hurt, so be careful calling this an easy way to get the tree down. I am quite experienced, but no pro at all. Yet, I'd think more than twice before I got to this point.
Thanks for sharing this technique. It certainly (& safely) got the job done. Could you please share how it got hung up so we can avoid the problem in the first place?
The problem was falling the tree towards other trees. There was a lot of room to fall to the right, left, or backwards. With the skill that was shown I believe it was done "on purpose" to show how to get out of a similar situation that happened accidentally or was unavoidable.
I think I would have simply moved my face cut around to the other side of the tree grabbed a few felling wedges and not hung the tree up. Just a thought.

Also, nice to have a stack of trimmed logs just the right size on hand...

Much easier ways to get a hung tree down then that. I don't see myself ever using this trick but it was fun to watch
Enjoy watching your videos to see your approach towards different scenarios.
Glad you did it the 'simple' way : )
Simpler is always better!
Apparently, I’ve been using the word “simple” wrong my whole life.

Yes
Doing all that tip work with a long bar, a microsecond away from kick back, definitely not for amateurs
I generally just use a come-along for the hangers, but that is cool.
I cut fire wood. I cut a 1/3 V cut in the top of the tree about 4 ft above then do up cut from the bottom. It folds into the V. Repeat if required.
no to je pěkné vrchol leplovství a fušeřiny stačí lopatka a zatočit případně hodit řez šikmo pařezem
I thought you were going to use the last log to lever / roll the stuck tree over. Nope, a simple tap does the trick. Impressive!.
A smart technique if you don't have a winch. Some day I'll try this!👍
Thanks for sharing this technique. It certainly (& safely) got the job done. Could you please share how it got hung up so we can avoid the problem in the first place?
Thank you!
This was a demo, I had to do it myself. So that would be a very bad example.

Too much details, video becomes boring
it got hung up in the crown of another tree, to avoid the problem fell it in a way not hitting another tree crown
Tak to bylo fakt jednoduchý 😂😂😂
From B.C. Canada where they grow large, have never seen or heard of that method. They all have a place and time
A "simple" way? I counted half a dozen moments when this guy could have been seriously injured using this method.
This technique has lain dormant in my memory for 55 years!
Badass saw.
Bravo champion
well, with one log already inserted, it probably would have saved time and working close to the tree, if you would have used that log as a lever
Should of had more of the slider pole through so it slid back further before hitting the ground and hanging up again, only just got away with it.
That was simple!
Simple way to loose his life or limb for an amateur. You REALLY have to know what you’re doing.
You like this job
How about hook the skidder cable to it and pull it down????
How about not

Apparently Finland doesn't have OSHA!
They don't have time for me
bravo !!! le maître....
Good trick, but it's not quick or simple.
Impressive. I thought it was bullshit but I was wrong. 💪
my last hung up tree broke off 12 feet of the ground, and then its top wedged in a fork 18 feet off the ground. I'd much rather face your problem.
Sounds like you had a really fun day
@@thecurrentmoment it was actually 3 separate days before I got it completely cleared.
@@kenbrown2808 brilliant, the fun got extended haha
Great Job, based on enourmus Knowledge
0:11 wow I thought that would get it for sure 😂
We just use a high lift jack and a come along and drop the butt on a piece of sheet metal so it slides.
Kako potrošiti više goriva i dobro zakomplikovati.
Except that the other time the tree slid all the way down the rail. This wasn't supposed to happen this way, but in the end it worked out.
🤫
brilliant
Well done.
I believe the process is called "Kana på slana"
I used it once to make a hanger cross a deep ditch, saved me a lot of time and effort! 👍
'Einfach' würde ich diese Methode nicht nennen, sondern genial!
Nothing simple about that, I think I just graduated with three degrees.
Thanks for showing this.
I think I would have simply moved my face cut around to the other side of the tree grabbed a few felling wedges and not hung the tree up. Just a thought.
Super 👍🇩🇰
I have a tractor and chain for that. Simple.
Thats a genius at tree cutting. Wow great job man!
Fun to watch. Yes!
Simple? No!!!
And I SURE WOULD NOT HAVE WALKED BEHIND THAT TREE, STEPPING OVER YOUR "SKID" LOG!!!
I just use a 748 and a cable
If that's the simple way, I'd hate to see the difficult way!
Effective but not very simple
I don't think this guy is bushelin'.
Why didn’t I think of that?
The electric chair is safer.
Thanks for showing this
Ei mennyt kuten strömsössä.
155mm solutions
My, co máme traktory, omotáme dodatečně dlouhý řetěz kolem kmene a jedem.
a pak jsme my, co máme harvestory, trochu s tim cuknem a jedem
How much timber would actually be cut if real cutters wore all this junk????
🥶
Gdyby to było zawieszenie centralne nic by to nie dało.
Worked, but far from being simple
And that is simple? Really? Get the skidder to push it over. That would be easier and safer!
A ovako ne treba.
nothing simple about it. one wrong move and you are done.
Hoooo hum…….
Being you look like a pro your under cut was not
