Mother Talza: "You are screwing me over"? Palpatine: "My bad I forgot to hit that". Mother Talza: "You Bastard"!! Palpatine: "Emperor Bastard to you"!!!
I wonder how things would've gone if Palpatine took Talzin as his apprentice and didn't bother with Maul. That'd be very interesting.. a powerful sith lord who also is powerful in Nightsister Magik? Darth Talzin sounds awesome lmao
Maul's original origin from Darth Plagueis was better. His mother Kycina bore twins. One son, Savage, was given to the clan. She tried to save Maul by giving him to the stranger she met in town, Sidious, who was strong in the Dark Side. I really like the idea of these powerful people coming from nowhere. Maul was an unexpected child, Anakin was a slave, Rey was a nobody junk scavenger till they ruined her, broom boy might even become someone important. Making Maul the son of Talzin opens up another possibility though. Maul could've potentially been adept at Sith Sorcery. A talent not seen in the Banite Sith since Darth Zannah. Plagueis & Sidious had many questions about Sith Sorcery since they couldn't use it. Even Anakin couldn't use Sorcery.
When was it said that Sidious couldn't use sith sorcery? Wasn't that Darth Bane's Essence transfer spell that he was going to use to possess Leias unborn child in dark Empire? And he sure seems to be using it in that episode of Rebels to take possession of the Jedi Temple!
I think they could use sith sorcery, vader couldn't due to his injuries on mustafar preventing him from using his fullest potential, or at least that's what i think because we see sidious and dooku performing a sith sorcery ritual with spells in the clone wars show, but maybe they wanted to learn from experts of it, like the night sisters and the dathomir people, so yeah like you said the mother talzin origin is kinda good too, even tho i too like the old origin better
Agreed....I don't know why this needed to be changed.maul was seen as nothing more than an attack dog by sideous,he never intended him as his apprentice, the plageus novel should have remained cannon.
When Palpatine told maul that he had been replaced I honestly believe that he was referring to Anakin and not Dooku. To Sidious, Dooku had always been replaceable and a placeholder for Anakin, he simply didn't have a need for an apprentice that old and one who likely couldn't grow much stronger.
In Legends before the discovery of Anakin Maul was only meant to be a attack dog of a sith lord similar but in a higher rank to Asajj And Grievous in terms of potential, current power level, and skill in most areas of fighting be it with most physical abilities, unarmed combat, and lightsaber dueling as well as force combat but Dooku was meant to be a sith too and one of a higher status then Maul, Asajj, And Grievous afterall in Legends most notes apply that his potential and midichlorian count was higher then everyone except for Yoda, Sidious, The Skywalkers, And The Mereks and could of got more powerful in Legends if he fully immersed himself in the darkside like Sidious did albeit still able to keep control of emotions to some degree like Palpatine. Think about it Plagueis saw Dooku as a insurance apprentice if Sidious did not work out in some way while Dooku was a Jedi Master around TPM Circa while around that same time line when Maul was serving him and Sidious he only ever saw Maul little more then a highly skilled and powered attack dog meaning he saw both Palpatine And Dooku as people with higher potentials and more uses then Maul yeah.
Definitely a cool character. I hope we get more of him in live action, like in solo. You can't just throw a major character at us like that and never pick it up again, it's cruel. I can't wait till we get more maul!!
Love it, also would love to hear an in-depth Analysis of both Jedi and sith with the lost of attachments because it is interesting to find out that sidious suggested to mother Townsend to lost all attachments just as the Jedi do but always ultimately backfires moreover for the Jedi but also recall when maul lost savage how wrathful and vengeful he became to the point for almost a moment he could’ve overwhelmed sidious that also could be a highlight to what eventually happened to anikin showing leaving emotional attachments can be more detrimental than having them; please go in-depth on this subject because it does have real world consequences as well.
Sorry but this something that is not discussed in a way where I believe Luke found a perfect balance by keeping emotional attachments but also letting logic form a structural way to suppress the chaos of emotions themselves and brings out the main focus of the intentions that drive that emotion(s).
""Vease, sir," it begged, "smav drink? Vickerman, vickerman?" The big miner met this pitiful request by putting out a broad foot and kicking the native in the face. Luke winced and looked away. The Princess glanced at him. "What's wrong, Luke?" "I can't stand to see anything abused like that," he muttered, "human or animal or alien." He faced her curiously. "How can you watch it?" "I saw my whole world, several million people, destroyed," she responded with chilling matter-of-factness. "Nothing mankind does surprises me anymore, except that anyone could still be surprised by it." She turned her clinical gaze back to the scene at the bar." Splinter of the Mind's Eye
It’s crazy I read a book about how palpatine tortured maul as young as a toddler as his training (locking him in a room full of deadly snakes for example) then later sending him to an academy where he would make friends and a possible love interest just to have maul slaughter them. But I can’t find that book ☹️
I had thought that due to the explanation left mostly up for interpretation that Siddius and Plaugus had created Maul from the force by altering mediclorians?
No, Kycina! Mother Talzin lied about being his mom and Kycina is his true mother, who gave him up to Palpatine, thinking that a life of an apprentice would be better than a slave. Talzin killed Kycina after Feral was born (who she was pregnant with when Maul was given up) and Maul only found out much later when he returned to a desolate Dathomir years after Order 66. Talzin selling him into slavery doesn’t make sense. He never showed any signs of anger or rage with Talzin during the show or comics, which doesn’t align with this new backstory. Idk, when I make my own head cannons, I try to stay as close as I can to the real thing, but this doesn’t make much sense and I like Kycina’s story much better. Savage had already been sent off to the male Zabraks and so Maul never really remembered him all that much. I’d like to think he was around 5 or 6 when he was given to Sidious. I love Maul.
@@greengreeneya2102 Of course I know that. I just like the idea of Kycina MUCH better. Talzin lied! (Not surprising from someone of her character) plus it would make more sense if those boys weren’t her children because what kind of cold-hearted mother tells one of her sons to kill her other child?? So he's the "evil Anakin", sorta, that NEVER went good. An in the real World here it's taken.. forever but seems Disney got another thing right in a way matching or surpassing alot the EU counterpart. I wonder IF Sideous ACTUALLY tried and put forth the effort judging how Maul conducted himself once on his own after his return an leading a major Star Wars faction if he was underestimated alot by Palpatine and might've ACTUALLY made a good successor for Dark High Sith Lord one day in an alternate timeline??? Barring of course he wasnt ever cut in 2 and developed sufficient Darkside knowledge and grew enough in power to finally take on the Emperor in one on one combat
Gen up belive that mother talzin would wreak palpatine If she had been trained to full sith master level she would be like darth zahnnah but 1000 percent more powerful a proper sith witch the blending of nightsister magic and sith powers as she would devour all ancient knowledge
Although the chosen ones rawpower is unparalleled, i firmly believe maul would have killed vader if he still was a banite sith, he wouldnt be hampered by his legs and his intellect would most likely not put him in the situation thAt dooku ended up in. If vader and mauls origins were reversed, i could only see masters like windu, Yoda, PLO, sidious contending With a fully realised sith vader
The fact that sidious didn't kill his master until the phantom menace when he was already an old ass man is kinda stupid to me 😂 sidious was probably already far more powerfull than plagueis, if his only reason to keep him alive was to learn how to either create life or become immortal, he could've done it by himself just like we saw him do, right? He killed him and kept learning and trying stuff until he put that knowledge to use after ep6. But if he was doing everything in secret, training maul etc and killed him ONLY when the master was asleep, maybe it was because plagueis was still more powerfull than sidious at the time of his death and he didn't dare going face to face against him? And the origins of maul... Meh, they are similar and also different from what they used to be, this canon keeps recycling stuff and just changing stuff for the worst
Naw they were at the same power levels in terms of raw power but Plagueis still had more powers Sidious did not yet achieve as well as more knowledge and experience and being a better lightsaber duelist and unarmed combatant at the time as well as overall better physical abilities minus the respirator breather thingy. Sidious himself said that he felt more powerful after his murder of Plagueis meaning he gained a power boost and considered The Jedi Master Dooku as his equal on the other camp in terms of raw power sells yeah.
From slave to sith assassin not a true sith lord! Not lord maul just maul sith assassin! Maul losing to obi Wan proves he was a expendable sith assassin if he was actually a sith lord sidious would have tried to find him and help him or finish him off had he actually been a sith lord!
That was most sources in Legends materials but in Canon Maul was meant to one day be Sidious successor by surpassing him or being equal to him in power as long as Maul did not A. I agree. Although Dooku was strong af, it wasn't on par with what Palpatine needed in an apprentice for his long term goal of galactic domination
I agree with your assessment. Sidious flat out tells Vader that Maul was a loss and Dooku was a proton torpedo.
Odd how Dooku was the only apprentice of Sidious to utilize force lightning
