Slightly sad about Engagement Ring because I was just such a fun cast to use and just see everything and popping in damaged. I also didn’t think it felt like a problem because generally the other casts also felt really powerful. But let’s see. I was skeptical about the changes to Apollo’s cast and in the end I ended up loving it so.
It was probably less of a nerf and more of something they perceive as a buff. They probably noticed that players tended to gravitate towards casts that apply a curse and saw that Engagement Ring (and Family Trade) had very low pick rates, so they gave Engagement Ring the ability to apply Hitch AND AoE damage, while still giving you the option to upgrade it so it has the old "damage on entry" effect. I imagine this cast is going to be insane on Charon and Pan.
@@aluminumtarkus with family trade that might be the case but probably not with engagement ring because it wasnt worded correctly, it also applies hitch to enemy that enter the cast, not just on spawn enemy. high fear (40-50) run that ive seen always try to get hera's cast for their first pick, so im pretty confident to say its too strong and they are giving it the white antler treatment
The ability to spread hitch onto the entire room and then kill a bunch of enemies before you even see where they are on the screen was overpowered. Both in speedruns and fear pushing.
An interesting anecdote about Vow of Haunting. I once had a run where I was saved by the staff hammer that heals when you kill with the omega attack, along with killing enemies that repeatedly respawned via revenants. I must have healed over 60 health in 1 room in Tartarus alone, so I’m a little sad to see the repeated respawns go, even if it’s probably for the best.
It also gives you more chances to beat Nemesis in contests. She doesn't collect revenants, so if you're a few enemies short you can stay near them and snipe them once they respawn. Also a bit more money in Heracles encounters. Given how they didn't mark it as a community feedback result (whose mostly see the multi respawns as a negative), I'm inclined to think they removed it to prevent these kinds of exploit.
There is definite trend of tier 2 casts. I wonder if they are compatible. Can I now place a cast that inflicts weak, and has a cyclone, and damages enemy on spawn, and then explodes into a column of light? Are tier 2 options going to exist for every god? Will there be tier 2 for attack and special or are they really doubling down on Mel's cast?
As a matter of fact, you can do that! I suspect they will be adding similar tier 2 cast boons for every god. I'm actually super excited to see how they'll all combine, even if it means our busted patch 3 Hera cast had to be sacrificed to get there.
what I noticed for Mint Condition before is that whenever you start a new Encounter but the Invulnerability hasn't run out, the Inv doesn't reset but kept the same one from before. Happened a lot when I was on the ships on the surface that each Encounter only took like 6 secs and the next Encounter I only have that 3 secs left
YES this was so annoying. I had to remember to wait around for the invulnerability to wear off before starting the new encounter, or, more realistically, I'd just forget and lose out on the invulnerability. It was a little thing, but I'm glad they fixed it.
it's sad that they changed engagement ring. contrary to what ppl think, I think it was balanced. yes, with it you could one shot (shieldless) spawning enemies on the first 2 biomes, as long as you had enough rarity/poms on it, but in any other situation it was just hitch in a circle, it dealt 0 damage to anything already in a chamber so it did nothing against bosses aside from speeding up phases a little bit. it'll still be interesting bc hitch helps clear chambers faster, but it's kinda lame now that it's backloaded damage that you have to trigger yourself to answer your question: the new Rousing Reception doesn't apply statuses such as freeze, unless it was bugged for me earlier, I literally had freeze but the boons were not working together. Skulking Slice was indeed 200% dmg and iirc, Destructive Array made your dropped shells do damage once in a while equal to a % of your attack damage (maybe it was 50% every 2s but I'm not sure bc that looks like looming ignition)
I assume they didn't like that speedrunners were starting with Engagement Ring on pretty much every weapon. If a boon is so good on its own that it takes precedence over taking anything weapon specific, it deserves a nerf.
Patch 3 engagement ring really was busted. It's not just the ability to oneshot stuff in early regions, you could've straight up hitched everything in a room and killed a bunch of mobs (even in late game regions!) without even seeing them spawn.
Mirrored Thrasher + New Hestia Gain + Reworked Zeus boon that causes lightning bolts when you spend magick? Is that anything? EDIT: It works, and I think Hestia gain does make Mirrored Thresher potentially spectacular with rapid on-hit builds, but combining it with Spirit Surge was merely okay. Like if you already have Mirrored Thresher and the other two Zeus boons aren't good, then it's extra damage, but in a run where I got all the pieces early, (I had Mirrored Thresher, Hestia Gain, and Spirit Surge by mid-Oceanus) Spirit Surge only did 25k damage, compared to Scorch at 132k, Attack at 70k, and Static Shock (which I got at the start of Tartaurus) at 32k. I even had Spirit Surge at level 5 with Poms. The damage just isn't there.
backstab was one of my favorite mechanics in hades i, im so glad theyre giving it some attention this patch!! im currently doing a mel dagger white antler run and its sooo fun >:3
I'm finally early to a Haelian vid woo! Glad we're getting consistent patches from SG I feel like the new Engagement Ring would work fairly well with the Pan Blades
@@PrismariLaura I know I’m so mad, I liked using it in patch 1 and 2 but it was so good last patch, I’m happy they at least kept the function as a tier 2 like old solar ring
I feel like here's cast isn't as bad as it sounds. It might not deal damage. But putting hitch on multiple targets means you're dealing a lot more damage to those targets
personally i loved escalating ambush as most every guardian or mini boss has mobs to farm your ambush on with explosive ambush secret crush and aphro attack it got kinda crazy with the crits via death arcana and artemis blades
Have you noticed any changes to the guardians? The boss in Ephyra seemed to have some new moves that I've never noticed in previous runs where they would do a skip during their march, which threw my timing off since I was expecting a larger AOE instead of small ones. Not sure if these are "hidden changes" since they are boss fights?
with the 2 attacks using 5 magick per swing it works really well with the new zeus boon or with heartthrobs, and i quite like it with aspect of circe cuz u swing a few times then omega attack and ull have infinite magick
Revenant and Suffering changes are massive for high fear, first one is very good for staying within timer and second one scales down first hit from 8x to 5x. And Mel blades is pretty good now. Hera cast nerf was a bit of overreaction though, it looks rather weak compared to other casts.
I had a Momus run yesterday where my Omega attack did about 5x the damage of anything else, and when you're running that Omega Momus build you basically always want Hera's regen I think Mirrored Thrasher would basically have made that build do almost twice the damage and the magick cost would have been whatever with Hera regen so I guess that's the use case
escalating ambush was far from bad, the damage ramps up real fast especially in zone 2 with all the little fish, u can get multiple power bonuses from a single smash, hitting easilly 4/5k at the end of waves
got some build / challenge idea with these changes here comes: CLUSTERFUCK BUILD first of all.... remember to turn on autofire for a better experience, and maxxed vow of commotion for worse visual clarity (60% MORE ENEMIES). Support Fire. (YES.) Get Aphrodite, Heph and Apollo: Apollo - Extra Dose. maybe try to get Legendary, Apollo Nova Strike (attack) is pretty solid for this, but maybe use aphro ones if u want more DAMAGE Aphrodite - Hearthrobs and Apollo Duo (double heathrobs) Heph - Get Zeus Duo (make Statikk Shock bounce), can fill Special or cast with Heph, but regen might be the better as we already have serenity, and we NEED to add 60% enemies (or just use Aphro regen too get more confused) And then.... you gonna just press attack button and... DOUBLE ATTACK, TRIPLE ATACK, THUNDERS, BOLTS, ARROWS, HEARTHROBS, A GRILL, JESUS CHRIST WHERE IS MY MOUSE, AND EVERYTHING BEING THROWN AT YOUR ENEMY (I literally made this build accidentally and yeah.... it is realy 0 visual clarity build 100% WHAT FUCK IS GOING ON (I just didn`t get the Apollo Legendary...) Maybe Poseidon Attack, with slip, and Zeus duo could work in the place of Heph or Apollo, but I don't think it would be really that funny, but yeah, the waves are also "clusterfuck", the same for the bubbles for his mana regen, Apollo is really great to hearthrob and makes u laggy, the same I could say for bouncing with heph, and it can even make you get his duo with aphro to get EVEN MORE HEARTHROBS. Also hermes and Chaos Boons for Omega moves channel speed and attack speed are really great. MAYBE THIS CAN BE THE VIDEO OF "GUESS WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO" CHALLENGE that you said you could try... like... you really won't even know what YOU are doing.
"This sounds weak" Maybe. I'm guessing the idea is that if you manage to catch a bunch of enemies in your Engagement Ring cast and kill one, not only will it deal 50 dmg in AoE but each separate instance of dmg will be applied on everyone in the cast at the same time thanks to Hitch. So if you got 11 enemies in cast and in explosion range, if you kill one, it will inflict 50 on everyone, which will inflict 30% of that dmg per affected target so 50 + 0.3 * 50 * 10 = 200 AoE dmg. If that kill even one other enemies, now you inflict 185 more dmf. If that kills even one other enemy, it's 170, etc... Basically, unless you have 10 super high health enemies, it should clear the pack with just cast + single target attack even at lvl 1 comment rarity. I'm not saying it's the greatest (there are a lot of AoE that can kill all of that more easily) but that doesn't sound underpowered to me. Of course it depends on the range of the AoE. If it's very small, it might be underpowered anyway. edit: Yes Vow of the Haunting! I always said, it shouldn't be a converging infinite series like now and instead that revenants couldn't produce more revenants. I'm glad they did it.
With escalating ambush they shouldve made it reset maybe every 3 chambers or every area but not every chamber this change to a flat 20 is ok but i dont think ill pick it up
I did spirit surge on an o-attack torch run.... honestly not super impressed it did like 10k damage while bloodline did 100k. maybe it's just that bloodline was killing everything before spirit surge could do the damage? but I feel like torches is pretty much the only use case for it and it failed pretty bad.

Oh… i really dislike the direction they are taking with plain “+X damage/speed to attack/special” hammers… I always thought hammers should be smth interesting and build defying, not just plain power increases.. eh..
Golden rule is huge nerf. this boon was only used for Spin to win builds on Thanatos axe because it add 10 damage on every spin hit. 3% is garbage. Engagement ring is no longer the most busted boon in the game. Staff hammer is buff because it is always used with hestia. Hestia has boon where you gain mana per hit. so just free 30% boost to durability for hestia boon. it is also used with poseidon's mana boon. Still no nerf on Pyre techniques and Slowcooker. Slowcooker needs damage cap of 800. Pyre technique needs way lower numbers like 20/30/40/50%.
uh... you do not know how golden rule worked, do ya? you'd only get 10 extra dmg if you only had 100 gold. fast hitting weapons were the best for this boon, tbh. idk what you mean by Slow cooker needing a damage cap of 800, it only adds 2 dmg/fire (the element), it's not possible to get 400 fire through normal means.
@@ruxbon you don't know how golden rule worked. golden rule gave +10 base damage to every swing. if you ran axe which spins like 10 hits in like 2 seconds, you would be doing like 2000-3000 damage per spin. This got particular silly if you manage to get furious spin+psychic spin which allows you to queue 2-3x spins doing something like 10,000 damage. Now golden rule is trash-tier. Hestia fire is not worth boosting, air quality is better. Poseidon has his legendary boon for boosting splash damage and regular damage boosts outpace going for this boon. Slowcooker is currently most busted duo boon in the entire game. 200% fire damage that can stack infinitely with torches basic or special easily does 2000-3000 damage per proc. This isn't counting the damage it does over time passively. Pyre technique is just as strong if pommes but even its basic version is unbelievably game-winning. It doesn't do burst damage like slowcooker does but it's over-time gains still outpace almost every attack boon combination in the game. The irony is that hestia is so over-tuned that even weapons like daggers, axe spin, staff are also better off rushing then anything else.

Who cares about speed runs?
Apparently a lot of people do
Speed runners & those who watch them... Should've been pretty obvious.
at high fear you also need to sort of care
they *murdered* mirrored thrasher
I wonder if it's working with Hearth Gain though, if it does then it's possible to go for Scorch/Chain Reaction and fully upgraded DPS Hex build.
Yeah, never picking it again lol. Good thing I could have a few nice runs with it before they ruined it.
