Hey I know that Giant Avocado! Pro Tip, …..I take a couple big avocado leaves and wrap the graft to protect from the sun. The bag works fine but can act like a parachute in strong winds and dislodge your graft
Thanks Jeff for all that you do for the avocado community and gardening in general. I learn a lot from your channel. Have you ever done a little plastic bag over your graph to keep it moist?
Hey REM - Curious to see how those grafted varieties from a Northern CA climate do in your location.. Keep us posted. I called Laguna Hills, and they are currently all out of Edranol, but may be getting a shipment in a few weeks. I will check back. Keep up the great work!
Keep us updated on your grafts . I was interested in several of the varieties that they had at the scion exchange but the timing for me to travel up there was bad . Perhaps next year I can participate. My trees will be even bigger and able to collect more scions off them.
Thanks for showing the two NorCal varieties in your channel. Greg is a nice guy and organized a NorCal scion distribution to many interested people in the SF Bay Area. 👍
I really like finding these local type varieties. Often they are better than many of the commercial varieties out there. Nice grafts. They look how mine look when I do them
It's good to spread the word to keep these varieties alive. There are probably a lot of great lost varieties, more new ones to be made also. I just hope one of each graft take. We'll see, thanks for watching!
Great videos, love your channel. I Love avocado trees, beer, and bourbon. I live in the Anaheim area, do you know where I can get bud wood for granting?
Hi from Sydney! I believe my hass will start flowering soon, was wondering if you’ve tried sugar/molasses water spraying on leaves and what results you’ve seen and what ratio of molasses to water? TIA
Hello avocado friend from Sydney, in the past I did try honey water and I don't think it worked. They say the correct ratio is 1/4 honey and 3/4 water and it's probably would be the same for molasses. I think having a second avocado tree is better for pollination than honey. Even better if you can have both type A and type B. Good luck and thanks for watching!
I made the mistake of pruning a 5 year old hass in summer in Sydney (110+ degree days) and after a few months the remaining leaves and branches seem to be dying. Do you think the tree will bounce back and should I cut it down to the stem?
Since it is 5 years old, I would expect it to have a good strong root system so it should make a come back. Give it a little time. If you have a way to shade it, this would protect it a little more. Also consider painting the exposed branches...good luck and thanks for watching!

No , I have used paper bag, but with all the grafting tape, the goal is mainly to shade the graft till it fuses together.
Greg and Jeff are a good resource for us NorCal growers. Looking forward to seeing the results.
Yeah for sure, I was thinking about you when I saw my dropped Reeds and thought I needed to get busy trapping like the professor.
@@AvocadoTalk must trap!!!!🐭🦨🐀🐇🐁

Wow that was quick for them to sell out. Wonder how many they got, I'm seriously considering maybe getting a few more. Thanks for watching!
Glad you got them!
Thanks again...
Of course! Glad the post office found them.

Will do, let see if they make it. Thanks for watching!

Greg sent me the scions, what a stand up guy. It would be good to compare how these varieties will do down here...Thanks for watching!

Good luck on the grafts !!👏🤞
I hope I at least get one to take. Start hydrated my friend.
I missed out on the Bay giant scions. Maybe next time I'll have better luck on the next scion exchange. Good luck with yours!
There will always be other opportunities. Thanks for watching!
