In Miami I bought the best avocado and I planted the seed in my yard. The 3 year I got 5 delicious huge, butter like avocados. I never fertilized it and the only water was from the rain. The following year I got so many avocados I had to put a sign "FREE AVOCADOS" 😂 the whole neighborhood waited for them every year around October, November.

My brother all what you showing right there is more than true, especially with the julie mangoes. I saw my grandfather did that many times when i growing up in the late 60s and early 70s and when ever the sketches especially with the julie mangoes,it would come out flowers even before the leaves. But the way did his grafting is,he would take a branch from where the fruit was hanging to do is grafting and in a few months time the starts bearing and he would put a banana leaf on the ground so mango could be protected since the tree small to hold the weight of the mango, it would start bearing and most times he had remove the flowers, i gave you a like and subscribe, you deserve it my boy!!

    Thanks Tom, great info!
About 14 months ago, my daughter went to Puerto Rico. She flew back to her home in Seattle Wa. with 2 large avocados purchased from a store in PR. She mailed the seeds to me in San Diego, Ca. I planted the seeds just as you did in this video. Seven months later the two seeds began growing little trees! I’m going to let the larger seed tree grow without grafting. The smaller seed tree will get grafted from a mature Nabal avocado tree. I was going to prune the large seed tree at about 4 ft., but now, after watching your video, I guess I should start now! My two little trees are about 30 inches tall.
    What do you suggest?

Honestly, if you just eat a lot of avocados and throw them in your compost, a whole bunch of them are going to sprout, and then you can plant them. You don’t have to do anything fancy or convoluted. But if you only have one avocado seed, I suppose you’d better make the best of it.

yes in the right environment avocados want to live. they are survivors.

I'm personally not trying to dig through my compost pile for my plants.
there is a reason I have a garden and a fridge and a tub... we make places for things instead of dumping everything in a heap and sorting it out later.
I'm sure we can each find a method that works for us without assuming 1 way is the best for everyone...

Exactly what happened with my avocado trees 7 years ago and I didn't have a chance to replant until they got too big. Now the compost pile has been moved and I have 8/9 trees rooted together. Will they still produce fruit? The one that's slightly off to 1 side is flowering for the 2nd yr now.

@@SleepyLizard I am hoping it will have blooms next spring because I've given it micronutrients and the new fertilizer, I've used this year is much better than what I have been using as evidenced by how well it has grown, and the leaves are lush and there's no evidence of disease whatsoever.

Ho Ho Ho! Meeeeery Christmas! to you, your family and your workers! How do you manage to always bring a smile to my face, especially when talking about avocados! TOp notch quality and productivity and very educational. I still learned a few thing from the video. I fertilized my main avocado with liquid 5-5-7 fertilizer, but it's now droopy. I watered it on the sides, but worryingly, it didn't do much. I have a bad feeling that the root system has compromised. I will water it again tomorrow, I think I didn't water it enough.
Mango update: I can finally (or already, becaue it didn't take long) see the stem coming out. The seed is dark green. However, I'm seeing ome fungus gnats. And there is a bit of mold and foul smell. But the viability is higher.
Anyways, today is my last day of school before the holidays. WOOHOO! I don't wanna be late, so I might comment later. Byeee
