I can just imagine reversible placemats made with a smaller watermelon print on one side and the stripe on the other. Perfect! And then I'd want a set with strawberries!
If you were a baseball player, I'd say you're batting a thousand. But we're talking aprons here. Easy to make, easy to wash & iron, easy to fit. Easy to love!
As usual....another wonderful, practical sewing tutorial! Those of us that subscribe to you can barely wait for the next one. Thank you SEW MUCH for allowing us into your home to show us something new to try!
Thats a really nice Pattern. It would also be really nice made out of linen, as it would take the gathers lovely. Just as a simple, sweet, rustic farmhouse look.
So grateful for all your tutorials. Your so easy to follow! I've made your quillow, your reading pillow and now I wanna try this cute apron. Thanks so much and keep all your good ideas coming!
Love this!! Aprons always remind me of my grandmother. :D Sweet memories. :D Just as I was thinking the only thing it needed was pockets......you showed the pockets! LOL Too cute and clever! I'd have to stitch a pocket around the opening or I'd be dropping things to the hem of the apron and desperately trying to retrieve them! LOL You're always such an inspiration! TFS! xoxoJanet
Great idea to stitch a pocket or we'd lose anything we put in there, except our hands...lol.. I asked a similar question about the 'bonus' pockets. Thought I'd somehow missed the explanation. Thanks, Janet H.
I LOVE this fabric. I really have to check into getting some. I love your apron too. I really like the wide strap and a hidden pocket? Ingenious! Thanks for sharing!
I love your videos. Your instructions and hand motions make them so easy to understand. This is a great apron. I must make some. I too would see a smaller pocket at the opening. My grandmother made aprons with half of a hand towel attached for drying her hands. I’ll have to figure out a neat way to add that feature. Thanks for your videos.
What a wonderful tutorial Laura. I just subscribed. You're so pleasant and your smile is infectious. thanks for this lovely apron video. ps. really great instructions, easy to follow and the hidden pocket is a REAL GEM!
REally cool I certainly will try this, was thinking I need a new apron hehe. When stitching the seam allowances u can also stitch the other side so u have 4 lines of stiches total and then both sides will be identical, well if you are fussy to do it I guess
Love the pattern! I think the pocket would be more usable if I just sewed a pocket shape around that opening. Pocket depth to the hem is too deep. how about a button on the side for a little towel? Thanks for the tutorial. Aprons have lost status with the younger folk. Bring 'em back. They're hospitality armour!
I would just add a belt loop at the top corner to run a towel through. On a classic chef apron the towel should be secure yet easy to remove for emergencies. If you start thinking snaps or buttons, then you have to have accessory towels with the apron. But with a belt loop, any towel works. I'm thinking of this apron in a more utilitarian use, rather than a total "hostessy" look.
Cutest apron ever!!! I am still having a hard time cutting a straight line. I've bought a mat, new blades for my rotary cutter, and all kinds of acrylic scales, this left hand continues to veer off to the left, arg! Maybe it's the arthritis . But I'm going to keep trying, I want to make this, you are an inspiration!!
This might help you. Put your pointer finger on top of the rotary cutter, and then "point" your finger slightly toward the ruler edge as you cut. So, you are going to grasp the rotary cutter handle like normal, thumb on one side, fingers on the other. Then lift your pointer finger, and place it on top (assuming your rotary cutter safely keeps your finger away from the blade). Then cut, and slightly point your finger inward toward the edge of the ruler. Your brain will follow your pointer finger better as it's the dominant finger on your hand. You are not trying to cut the ruler, just drive the cutter slightly toward the edge of it as you go. This will prevent you from veering away.
I use a spring clamp (can buy from Lowe's or Home Depot) to hold the bottom of the ruler to the table so when I'm using the rotary cutter, I can focus on holding the top of the ruler steady.
I love pockets; but I'm not sure I would want to fish out items from the bottom of the apron. I think I would add some stitches to outline a designated pocket area.
Laura, I was able to follow your directions easily and yes, it's quick, too. I'm just wondering about those 'bonus' pockets...There isn't any (inner) lining to create the actual pocket, only the 'reversible' apron fabric itself. Have I missed something??? I think you're VERY creative and I enjoy ALL your videos. Some I've watched numerous times! Thanks for sharing.
OK, thanks, Laura. I believe another viewer has suggested stitching below the opening to make it into a pocket. That way items won't get lost at the hemline. Lovely design, Laura. :)
you should always prewash your fabrics before you start a project. just make sure tgat if its something thar ravels, like flannel, to either use pinking shears on or run a zigzag stitch up the cut edges to keep fraying to a minimum
Yes, if it's something you would be washing in the future. That way the fabric will be pre-shrunk. If it's something like a purse or decorative wall hanging, etc., you don't have to, and probably don't want too because you will lose the crispness of the fabric.
Oh wow! thank you!!! it's pretty! But you what? I need the upper part. I'm not to tall and I need to protect my clothes. Do you have any? Thank you very much! blessings.
Wow-how did I miss this video?? Will definitely make this one-brilliant and easy construction!! You outdid yourself again Laura!! Thanks for sharing!!
I can just imagine reversible placemats made with a smaller watermelon print on one side and the stripe on the other. Perfect! And then I'd want a set with strawberries!
super cute fabric and design. love the ruler trick. you are an inspiration, as always. thanks Laura!

Love the button for a towel idea also!
Laura, what a cute top/dress today!

Love your tutorials! I've learned so much already. 😊
Great idea! I love it
Love this project!

Rose Johnson if you have snap pliers, snaps would be quicker and less complicated to use than a button.

Cute video!
رائعة كعادتك سيدتي😙
loved the apron clever
Outstanding tutorial!
Watermelon 🍉 love it!
I loved this! Just didn’t do the Pockets.
I loved your video, but I was not crazy over the ruffle. I am going to try it with a solid strip down at the bottom.
New subscriber. Love your style of presentation and design aesthetic.
thank you and welcome :)

Karen Church thank you so much, will try that!!
Please show us a video that shows how to do an apron with pockets for collecting eggs.
I love pockets; but I'm not sure I would want to fish out items from the bottom of the apron. I think I would add some stitches to outline a designated pocket area.
I would make the reverse side with another print fabric.
The point of making it the same is so a host can flip their apron to hide a spill or stain without the guests noticing.
Hola, maravillosa idea , un saludo desde España
very cute!

there is no lining like a regular pocket, the pocket is just the big opening between the layers
OK, thanks, Laura. I believe another viewer has suggested stitching below the opening to make it into a
pocket. That way items won't get lost at the hemline. Lovely design, Laura. :)
yes that would be great too:) have fun sewing
you're so beautiful just like the projects you create...
What a supercute apron! Would you recommend pre-washing the fabric? thank you for all your fabulous videos!

Yes, as I don' like surprises:)
so so cute!!!!
adorable!!
Your amazing!!!
Love it!
Love it ❤️
love it!!
Lovely thanks
Oh wow! thank you!!! it's pretty! But you what? I need the upper part. I'm not to tall and I need to protect my clothes. Do you have any? Thank you very much! blessings.
Made two of these yesterday. Great idea. How would you add more for larger women?
just cut the fabric bigger at the sides:) Try adding 3" on side to start
Hermoso tu trabajo, donde puedo comprar las telas? pudieras editarlo en español porfis, desde México te envío un abrazo
Loved it! I need an apron with the top too (really messy) and ties in front or no ties (right side doesn't work). Any like this?
What is under that cute cover over your right shoulder? Looks like there's a handle protruding through a slot?!
