I really like her videos because she doesn't waste time gabbing and talking about irrelevant things and processes. Her instructions are clear and easy to understand. So many videos on UA-cam should be much shorter in length if the hostess was prepared in advance and the videos edited to delete the wasted time and mistakes.
I will skip over a video that is just music or music in the background. Most of the time it is distracting from the video. If its the only video for what I am looking for, then I just watch with the sound off. Laura's video are great-to the point and that's what I want to see.
The clear precise instructions are wonderful. So many others repeat the same instruction over and over or just waffle on using the wrong terminology. I come to Laura first every time for tutorials. 5 Star all the way!
I made a cover following your tutorial for my Singer 301 case. I added straps to help protect the handle on the lid. I entered it in my guild's Quilt Show and won Best of Potpourri category! Thank you for great tutorials.
I agree Laura is a born teacher and her voice is so soothing. I am very voice sensitive and she speaks eloquently and to the point. Again, like others have said, no time is wasted in her videos.
I made one. I couldn't have done it without your instructions. I think it turned out really nice. Tutorials like this are so inspiring and keep novice sewers, sewing! Thank you so much!
I'm too new at this, so I copy the professionals and in doing so, I'm learning a lot. Thank you for your instructions, they have me trying things on my machine that I otherwise would not have used.... like the omni-directional stitches.
Thank you Laura, I am a beginner sewer and made a beautiful cover for my sewing machine with your instructions. I used beautiful remnants of green fabric that were in the discount bin at Spotlight. Even my husband was impressed. Thank you so much for your sensible clear and informative teaching style.
A friendly Hello from Cincinnati...Laura, I'm so very grateful that I just discovered & subscribed to your terrific channel...It's now April, 2020, & the pandemic quarantine is still in full force...What good timing for me as I just ordered a brand new sewing machine, & can't wait to start putting it to good use beyond alterations... *: )* This brilliant sewing machine cover tutorial will be my 1st project...I began making my own clothes on an ancient Singer machine about 55 years ago...I'm incredibly grateful to my Mom & Gramma for fostering my love of machine sewing & decorative (hand) needle work...It's given me so much pleasure over the years... Bless you!!! Poppy
I have become addicted to your videos, Laura. Your skills never cease to amaze me. They are so easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
Thank u. I've been wanting to make matching pretty covers for my sewing machine, embroidery machine, overlocker and cricut. I've done my first for the embroidery machine and so happy with the outcome. Thanks for making it so easy 🩷🩷🩷🩵🩵🩵
I have watched a number of YT videos on sewing machine covers; only one came even close to being as good as yours! The reason yours stands out as THE BEST is how you showed us how to make the cardboard box template, how to make the measurements for whatever size machine one is covering, and then the way you sewed the binding - yow-sah! I want to cover my sewing machines and kitchen appliances using these ideas. Of course I love the fabric selections with coordination and contrast. I don't have an embroidery machine, but can use the idea of a decorative stitch. Thanks, Laura.
I watched this video about two years ago, then made my sewing machine cover. Now I'm back as a reminder, for my first overlocker to get its cover. Only thing I changed was to use a thick striped cotton tape sewed to the edges of the main piece, then sewed its other edge to the sides, which gives the impression of binding without any hand sewing, and partly because my newly quilted fabric with bumph, was too thick to sew binding onto. I sewed the tape all round the bottom, and across the pocket tops too. I love my sewing machine cover, it's one of the best things I've ever made, thank you for the wonderfully clear and useful demo. Am hoping the overlocker cover turns out as well :)
This is so beautiful! 😍 The colors, the stitched trim bow addition that matches your fabric...and red and black- two of my favorites! Thanks for all your videos, perfect for us beginners, to inspire and teach us! Blessings!
Finally got around to making a cover for my serger and your channel was the first I looked to for help. This was great and your fabric choices are so cute. Mine are not quite as pretty but it works in my sewing room and it came out great. Now I am ready to make one for my sewing machine. Thank you Laura, great lesson as always!
Hi Laura, thanks so much for this tutorial. I have been working on mine this past week and completed it yesterday. I only wish we could all share photos so you would be able to see what everyone has done with your wonderful instructions.
Laura, what a great way to make covers for any machine. I have been struggling to get good covers for my different machines and now I can do it. Thank you so much. Janet
Thank you, I have followed your measuring instructions to make a serger cover, I keep checking in to make sure I am following correctly making up the cover. So far so good. Thank you again.
Hmm . . . I got an air fryer for Christmas. I’ve been thinking of covering it and I remembered your video. Think I’ll try making a matched set for air fryer, blender, mixer, even my food saver standing on its side. In fact, as I’m writing this, I’m remembering that I have some fabric I bought - a few years ago - just waiting for a project. It’s rows of farms @ different seasons. I’ll fussy cut it as 6 inch border. I love it! Thank you!!
Hi Laura, You are such a talented lady. It is such a joy and education to watch your videos. I have recently moved house from Ontario to Alberta and miss my quilting friends. Please know you have given me the push and encouragement I needed to get busy in my sewing room and Use up some of my stash. Thank you so much. Joan
Great tutorial. I just unpacked my new Bernina 580 this afternoon. Went from a 1980 Husqvarna that finally gave up on me to this amazing computerized machine. It has blown my mind but now I want to make a nice cover for it. This is perfect. I like working with the Bosal foam so can hardly wait to get started. now where is that darn on/off button? LOL.
I remember watching this video & feeling it was a great tutorial . I was dreaming about a cover for my machine, in a dedicated sewing room & I was filled with anticipation. I knew I needed some time as the room had waited 33 years for me to inherit it, & it wouldn’t have to wait much longer. My dd was working from home, & it was her dedicated space. She was also expecting a baby. Well, babies 15 months. Those months have been filled with fun & quickly flown by. It’s been a lovely Sewing space for just 6 months, & it’s time for the final decorating touches. I’m rewatching videos, & I love this one more than ever. It’s going to be such a big help. Thanks so much for all the time & effort. This video is really good. Thanks Happy Sewing! Gramma to 13.
I recently got my first (2nd, 3rd, and now 4th) Singer sewing machine. I hope my cover turns out as pretty as yours. I couldn't think of how to get my binding around it. Thank you!!!
I think I have that same fabric with the dresses on. This is so good, I think I could use the same idea to make matching covers for my mixer and food processor in the kitchen. I am so excited now.... thanks Laura
I appreciate you sharing this very simple method with us. I'm going to create a sewing machine cover in the next few weeks, and I'll keep coming back to view this as I work. Thanks!
Thank you. I have always wanted to cover my Ellisimo WITH THE EMBROIDERY MODULE ON. I couldn't figure out how to do the end with the embroidery module. Never thought to leave it all the same height. Great demo!
Laura, Thank you very much, I just made the “perfect” cover for my sewing machine with birdhouses and pastel colored birds. Your instructions and demonstration were easy to understand! I enjoyed this project so much. Thanks again, Angela :-)
I'm so amazed ! It's been a few weeks that I've been watching your videos, from France, and I love them ! You are a great teacher and your projects are so beautiful. I was planning on making a cover for my kitchenaid mixer and you have inspired me ! I'll take my time to try and make something as beautiful as you did for your sewing machine. Thank you so much for sharing ! I am looking forward to starting that project !
Thank you Laura. Finally a sewing machine cover that I want to make!!! I now feel confident that I know what I am doing. I love using foam and will definitely be using it. Now my biggest problem is finding a box big enough. LOL.
I had a lined cotton pencil skirt whose circumference happened to fit my 1948 Kenmore perfectly.. I sewed the lining all around the hem trimmed off some of the top and closed it up with boxed sides. (Think upside down tote bag.) I thought it was lazy and convenient repurpose. Now this video .... I'm impressed!!
wow amazing,i love this, love how you teach us the rules of quilting, batting, sewing ,i'm tunisian from france and i like to follow you,i don't understand all english talking but it's easy to understand you,and you have many ways to sew,i love to learn with you ,thank you :)
Thanks very beautiful. I learn my lesson a long time ago. I used my portable sewing machine on the floor under my table and , as it never fails,I spilled something and got it on my machine..set it under the table after use.. but luckily my machine was ok.love this tutorial, thanks.
Cute machine covers! Thanks so much for sharing. I have three machines I need to make covers for and one is an embroidery machine that I'd like to be able to keep the arm on, but still cover it.
You are brillant! I enjoy and learn so much from your teaching method, SewVeryEasy to understand!! And, I love your materials, they are fun and beautiful! Thank-you.💟
Thank you for your wonderful video. I used it to make my own machine cover. I made one alteration. I made a cutout on the right side to clear my machine cords, finished off with bias tape.
I used Warm and Natural batting instead of the foam. I had to trim off the seams in order to get the binding around it, then used a decorative stitch to make sure I got it all. It was a pretty close fit. I can't hand sew due to tendonitis, so the decorative stitch worked great. I would make the binding a little wider next time, though, so that I don't have to trim down so much of the seam. I love how my sewing machine cover turned out and wish I could post a photo here. I suppose I could upload a video of it. Anyway, I watched a lot of tutorials and this one I liked the best.
I love how you simplify creating the pattern. I have always improvised in the same way. Love this machine cover, going to make this today! Thank you so much!
I just finished sewing this cover and it looks awesome. The hardest part was trusting my pattern but once I decided to get over the fear and cut the pieces out it all came together nicely. Thanks - Awesome Tutorial.
Hi. I just sent you a photo of the gorgeous sewing machine cover I made. It combines your pattern and techniques along with Gail Patrice’s serger placemat project and it is spectacular! I can’t leave a photo here so I sent it through Facebook. Thank you for your amazing classes.
It’s done and it looks great! I found the same upper fabric (but chose the pink shades) and used a black fabric with tiny flowers on the bottom, with pink piping. I also added a few pearl beads to jazz it up. Who knew that quilting was must sewing a straight line! Thanks, Laura!
You had me up until the finishing the binding with hand stitching..Argh! LOL For those not wanting to hand stitch....it can be made as shown... but reversing the seams so they are on the inside. I used the pellon fusible heavy weight interfacing and quilted the outer fabric to it. I created a same dimensions lining but left a 4" opening to turn out the machine cover....kinda like a purse or bag. Turn the cover out, sew up the 4" opening. So the lining would not sag down....I hot ironed the inner lining to the fusible interfacing so it stays up. Then put a decorative binding along the bottom if wanted for extra pizazz.... Thank you for the video!!
Dandy Quilter ... thank you dandy 😁 when she said hand sew I went oh ohhh no no noooo lol 😝 I’ll follow your advice when I get to that bit haha bless you 🥰🥰🥰🧵🧵🧵
I am a paper crafter and would like to make a dust cover for my Sizzix machine. There isn't anything on the internet to make them so I hope I can adapt one using your instructions. Thank you so much!
Laura this is a great idea! And very well explained and thought out. I want to make a cover for the upright chest freezer so I’ll use the same principles, maybe with a fold over edge and button tabs. I am very conscious of climate change and the effect of items made from petrochemicals such as foam, polyester, plastics, and any synthetic chemicals. It was nice that you included the use of batting instead of foam as padding and it would be great if you could nominate a sustainable product as an alternative for any of the synthetic products used. Thanks again for this great tutorial.
So beautiful, your fabrics and the quilting really make it what it is...I even think I can do that although I'm not a quilter. Thanks for the tutorial and the inspiration xo
This is a very well done tutorial. I was looking for something a little more basic, just something to cover the machine to keep the dust off, but your tutorial gave me an idea of how to do that. Thank you!
Hi there, love this tutorial have made one cover for my serger (just finishing the hand stitching of the binding) and now I’m making another cover for my sewing machine. Just wondering is there a reason you don’t sew the whole side on straight away? Why you only sew part way up the back and then the front? Thanks 😊
Thank You Laura !! I just love your videos so much . You are a wonderful teacher also I love your taste in the fabric you choose! So beautiful just like you! Thanks again, Tammy From Baltimore, Md
What a wonderful tutorial. I enjoyed this so much and it is very helpful. Your instructions and to the point details are outstanding. Thank you so much Laura. I have subscribed, so I can see and learn more!
Nice, concise video. I like your fabric choices. It’s not too busy or eclectic like most quilting items. It looks like you didn’t sew your side pieces on correctly because the front is flat instead of angle like on your template.
How wide did you cut the "foam" that forms the front, top and back? You may have said but it just isn't getting my thick head. Can't wait to make one, thinking of making it look like a camper. Thanks for the tutorial.
I really like her videos because she doesn't waste time gabbing and talking about irrelevant things and processes. Her instructions are clear and easy to understand. So many videos on UA-cam should be much shorter in length if the hostess was prepared in advance and the videos edited to delete the wasted time and mistakes.
Me, too. I hate when youtubers spend 3 minutes talking about what they had for breakfast before getting started with the tutorial.
I agree. She also doesn't put music in the background
I will skip over a video that is just music or music in the background. Most of the time it is distracting from the video. If its the only video for what I am looking for, then I just watch with the sound off. Laura's video are great-to the point and that's what I want to see.

SewVeryEasy thank you. Your tutorial could not be easier to follow. Now I can my FeatherWeight Case a cover.
Excellant as usual! Instructions clear, precise without any unnecessary gibberish. Un grand merci de la France!
I agree Laura is a born teacher and her voice is so soothing. I am very voice sensitive and she speaks eloquently and to the point. Again, like others have said, no time is wasted in her videos.

@@sensa619 That is what I have done.
I am a paper crafter and would like to make a dust cover for my Sizzix machine. There isn't anything on the internet to make them so I hope I can adapt one using your instructions. Thank you so much!
Awesome, and as always, very easy to follow. You have a gift for teaching.
You are so inventive on your template, I love it!!
+Charmaine Castro Thanks
So beautiful, your fabrics and the quilting really make it what it is...I even think I can do that although I'm not a quilter. Thanks for the tutorial and the inspiration xo
@Maria, Good morning, how are you and how is the weather today by the way, how are you prepared for Christmas?
I just got a new serger! I want to make covers for my machines!🎉 thank you ❤
This is a very well done tutorial. I was looking for something a little more basic, just something to cover the machine to keep the dust off, but your tutorial gave me an idea of how to do that. Thank you!
What a great, informative video.
I love the way you teach, so easy to follow.
Thank you for the great video.
great project, I always find your instructions clear. Love the cover!
Love this cover Laura ! Those materials are great. Something I maybe should do but probably wont. Love your tutorials, thankyou for sharing.
Hi there, love this tutorial have made one cover for my serger (just finishing the hand stitching of the binding) and now I’m making another cover for my sewing machine. Just wondering is there a reason you don’t sew the whole side on straight away? Why you only sew part way up the back and then the front? Thanks 😊
I just love love love love this! It is 9 pm here and I want to go make one right now! This is definitely my next project!
Hello thats nice, Been trying to work mine out
Did you get yours correctly?
Love it! Now I want a new cover. I guess I have to go to the fabric shop, hee hee. Any excuse is enough for me. Thanks Laura.
Super cute cover. The fabric is gorgeous! I need to finish my sewing projects so I can start with this one 🙂. Thanks for the great tutorial.
+Lourdes Atkinson Glad you like it and thanks for watching

They turned out beautiful!
I love this video...I'm thinking that there's a lot of use for this idea in the kitchen too!!! Very informative and detailed Thank you!
yes this will work on anything:)
Thankyou so much for providing a pattern! I'm starting my project & all I needed was a pattern, you're the best!
What a wonderful tutorial. I enjoyed this so much and it is very helpful. Your instructions and to the point details are outstanding. Thank you so much Laura. I have subscribed, so I can see and learn more!
Thank you so much!
Nice, concise video. I like your fabric choices. It’s not too busy or eclectic like most quilting items. It looks like you didn’t sew your side pieces on correctly because the front is flat instead of angle like on your template.
This video is awesome! As a beginner you made this very easy for me to understand and I really appreciate that.
How wide did you cut the "foam" that forms the front, top and back? You may have said but it just isn't getting my thick head. Can't wait to make one, thinking of making it look like a camper. Thanks for the tutorial.
+Kim Waknitz The foam is the same size as the fabric...and a camper would be so much fun! have fun
Fun project. I really like the use of foam. Thank you for such an exacting method for a perfect fit
Great video, just happily purchased a featherweight! Will be making a cover. Happy Easter.
+Kathleen K Happy Easter and thanks for watching:)
Briiiant , I’ve made a machine case after watching your video tutorial thank you 🙏
