  • We'll be taking a look at my new Wilton Tradesman 6 1/2" vise. My longtime vise has served me incredibly well, the Wilton Hitch Vise. Though the costs of these vises has risen somewhat over the years, it is still an excellent value largely due to its versatility.

    *A vise is a great tool you can't live without if you have a shop. They always come in handy like a third hand. I actually showcased the unboxing and installation of my vise of a different brand name on my channel. Keep up the great work Ben.* #BigMacSam

      I went to check out your video. I really like those plates that you installed to strengthen up the mount. How is it been holding up for you?

      @@txtoolcrib It's been perfect. No regrets whatsoever. If I had to do it again, I would.

    Very nice vice. I’ve always liked the style. Couple notes on the brake drum. That’s actually a “light weight” drum and it’s partially welded together. Not 100% cast

    Hope you will do a video series for building out the new shop. Keep up the good work and cheers form the UK 🇬🇧 🇺🇸

      I’m actually having it built. I was going to put it up myself, but the installation price I got was so good I couldn’t say no. I have a lot of equipment that has been in storage for a long time that I will be setting it up with. I will probably do a series of videos on some of the tools and equipment that are going into it. What would interest you in particular?

      Hello Ben - good to have you back...I would suggest your take for the shop videos is to show folks what constitutes a basic shop in terms of the space and how and what you plan to include in it - of course, you should include your personal embellishments and additional equipment choices - I wish you a speedy recovery!

    Just a thought Ben, maybe a steel semi wheel would be a little more stable than the brake drum? I mounted my bench grinder on one and it worked out pretty good! Congratulations on the shop and another great video!

    • @txtoolcrib
      @txtoolcrib  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I might look into a wheel instead, though eventually I think I have a bench that I’m going to mount this to. I’ll just have to see how this works out. It’s not costing me anything to build it except my time because I already had the materials.

      I don’t know about the smaller one, but the larger one is manufactured in Taiwan.

    Nice vice Ben, that being said, I have never understood why some people want to mount their vice on a stand unless you will only use it for light work or bolt the stand to the floor. I have tried it more than once and no matter how much the stand and vice weigh, they always walk around on the floor when wrenching on something substantial. I hope it works out for you but I think that you will end up mounting it on a bench as soon as the frustration sets in.

      You may very well be right! I have an old weld table I bought at auction a long time ago. Once I get my shop put up I will likely mount it to that table.
