Very nice restoration! You are close on the date but old Wiltons had a 5-year warranty and they would stamp the date on the key of when the warranty expired so that would mean yours was made in 1941.
That now is a work of art and even if it’s never used for it’s purpose it’ll look good on a shelf as an ornament Thanks for sharing Love and Peace from Ireland
Very nice work Dock... Ready for another decade or two.. I don't think I've ever seen anyone powder coat a vise before, came out beautiful... I especially like the wrinkle finish.. Take care my friend...
I might be a bit biased being a Chicago native but Bullet vices are just 🤌🤌 That subtle wrinkle paint turned out sooo clean. Never would've thought to do it like that myself!
Great video! The restoration of the vise is impressive and satisfying to watch. You did an excellent job of bringing the old and rusty vise back to life. The attention to detail and the careful approach you took during the restoration process is admirable. It's amazing to see how a little bit of cleaning, sanding, and painting can transform an old tool into a functional and beautiful piece again. Thank you for sharing this restoration project with us, it was both educational and entertaining. Keep up the great work!
I love how you filled in the couple of hammer blows with weld. I thought don't, because it adds character, but im glad you did. Now you can put your own mark on it! I'm glad you came up on my feed, and i had to subscribe.
Awesome restoration. Very happy to see the welding of damage instead of bondo. I'm pretty sure Wilton did not have a stocking order for Bondo back then.... Good to see a total lack of short cuts!!
Wrinkle black powder coat is pretty popular among the hobbiest automotive crowd. When done right it can really dress up an engine, suspension components, interior pieces, etc. A good friend of mine used it on his Oldsmobile 455 that was going into his 1971 Cutlass. The block and heads were painted olds gold and he ordered some chrome finned valve covers and an aluminum intake. He did the wrinkle black finish on all of the valve covers except the tops of the fins and he did the whole intake too except the logos and lettering. Looked very very nice and I'm usually not a fan of black on engine parts.
I know these channels are about what *can* be done and not necessarily about what *should* be done, but I would have wirebrushed the bare metal parts and given it some grease - done. Maybe smooth jaws. I’m happy about the successful screw extraction, that was good news.
I'm just glad none of the parts were buffed to a high bright finish like other channels do. The cast imperfections make this vise the only one exactly like it. I would have left them.
To be fair, black is a good, natural choice for the colour and deserves an extra point. Unfortunately we need to take 100 points away for tracing the letters 😭🙂
*_That turned out absolutely gorgeous, dude! A fantastic piece to use for years to come! Please keep up this excellent work and videography! You are doing a fantastic job! 🍻🤘💜_*
Always the best. It would be great if you could make videos with the subtitle function and auto-translation function turned on so that Japanese can understand them. Please consider it.
Those seams and imperfections are a byproduct of the sand casting process. They in no way would have impacted the usefulness of the vise. What would have been of concern are voids that reduce the structural integrity of the parts. While the outcome of this refresh is visually pleasing nothing was done to actually restore the vise.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video! Leave a like, comment and subscribe to support my work! 👍😀💙
Who knew that a vise could be beautiful? This one belongs in a museum!
Yeah, like the Smithsonian Museum or something. 😂
I have my father's Wilton bench vise. It's from the early 50s. Your restoration is awesome.
That’s awesome Katie!
Can I send you my vise?
Very nice restoration! You are close on the date but old Wiltons had a 5-year warranty and they would stamp the date on the key of when the warranty expired so that would mean yours was made in 1941.
This came out better than factory finish !!
We all have our vices, but yours is sight to behold.
Outstanding! I would use it to remember that part of the era where men worked hard for the things they had.
That came out better than new. And it's nice to see someone putting the right amount of grease in it.
That now is a work of art and even if it’s never used for it’s purpose it’ll look good on a shelf as an ornament

Thanks Sid! I’m afraid to use it now 😂
This is the art of perfection Dr

That vise will never be used again! Not for a long time, anyway. What a beauty.

OME!!!! You actually did the dab method on the raised letters. Drives me crazy that every one else does paint brushe

This has been my favorite restorations.
Thanks
love the black wrinkle finish
Exceptional restoration. Just really excellent. I would have powdercoated in a lighter color, but that is a matter of preference. Great work.
Thank you very much!
I'm not a big fan of black on certain items. But that looks pretty sharp! Never heard of that color.

Probably 3-500 but not for sale
REAl SICK VISE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great job. Awesome outcome.
looking at the seams and imperfections on the vice, quality control wasn't a priority. Great job in not only restoring, but improving on it when new!
Hey thanks Phil!

Put some SAE flat washers under the acorn nuts and they won’t tear the paint every time you move them.

A file is a two handed tool. Used properly it wouldn’t leave scratches in areas that shouldn’t have scratches.
Lovely job!
Thank you! Cheers!
what a visual feast
