The whole uterus thing is mostly a myth. Women can lift heavy things just as safely as men. What they would have to worry about is a prolapse but men can get a prolapsed rectum just as easily as a woman can get a prolapsed uterus. It takes a lot more than lifting something like a heavy box to get that. You can blow anything out doing a very heavy dead lift but most heavy lifting won’t cause either gender an issue in that area. It was a common misconception that a woman doing anything too physical would cause infertility or a prolapse, we know no that that is incorrect and women can participate in any physical activity without worrying about that anymore than a man. The uterus is help in place far more firmly than the old times people thought and as mentioned, men are at just as much a risk of a prolapse as women, women just have another thing they could prolapse since we have more holes.

"I heard she pooped herself when she died" -- Entirely true, happens in at least a quarter of deaths, "omg where do people get this stuff?"
Immediately after- "Put that down, if you strain yourself that uterus will fall out" -- Entirely a myth "That's true by the way"
      The irony killed me lol

@Andrew Shirley Yeah lol. They doubted the truth and trusted the myth.

Repeatedly lifting very heavy things does reduce your fertility. It's why women are often warned against being in the front line in the military, as you carry in excess of 150lbs of equipment most of the day. Over time it can cause uterine prolapse which happens when you have a weakened pelvic floor, which in turn causes the uterus to shift down. Of course what is too heavy is different for different women - but it's not a myth. Columbia University has a pretty in depth paper on it, while NHS has one that is more succinct.

    • @bluegirl278
      @bluegirl278 3 роки тому +13

@@staceyking8796 that’s why I said MOSTLY a myth. Prolapses are real but lifting a heavy box here or there is almost never going to cause one. Giving birth, aging, certain surgeries, and many other things can increase the likelihood of a uterus prolapsing. Extreme weight lifting can cause prolapses in both men and women and having a very physically intense job takes a toll on both all genders. That being said, it’s not as severe/dramatic or as immediate as we thought in the old days.

Pari, I didn't expect you to get so moved after seeing Mrs. Sugarman's lobotomy. This is the best season and I can't wait for the discussions after. They'll really take you places emotionally

This episode takes so many creative storytelling risks and I love it, it’s very rough but I’ve been looking forward to this one since we began. Also yes, Eddie the dragonfly playing the piano and Honey singing along takes place 70 years apart, they just show them both at once and it’s very beautiful.
And I had a similar reaction to the lobotomy scene.. Couldn’t stop gaping lol.

Everyone there must be really confused as to why these two people are singing alone in their respective time periods. It's only us, the audience, that gets to witness the beauty of their duet that transcends time. Two broken people whose hearts were stricken with grief. I love their duet, and I've since taken the time to learn the words.

I have not seen many classic movies and got fed up with people being shocked and appalled that I haven't seen some famous film they think everyone has seen. So my quarantine was largely spent marking off a long list of those, including Alien! I covered a wide variety of genres and still have plenty left, but I actually came to appreciate how much of a film novice I've always been instead of being embarrassed by it, because it was an incredibly fun year in that respect.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series, the juxtaposition of past with present is so brilliant and poignant- basically showing three different people dealing (or not dealing so well) with grief- Honey for Crackerjack, Eddie (dragonfly) for his wife, and Bojack for Sarah Lynn- I might have forgotten that that was really what drove Bojack to run away on first watch, and him watching the show about Sarah Lynn’s life/death (while simultaneously learning about Crackerjack) was just chilling

A lot of Indian families try to keep their girls as old fashioned as possible. My family told me the same thing growing up (90's) but what a lot of people won't admit is that a lot of those people didn't really have much of an education. My family didn't.
Lifting heavy things won't rupture your uterus. Women sometimes farm while pregnant in developing countries to this day.
It's like everyone forgets women are normal people or something. ☺️Lol
(You're half right about 'lowering uterus' part but that's if a woman lifts a hugely heavy amount out of no where or spent *years* doing heavy lifting during her formative and youthful years.)

Depression, as far as I am aware, isn't genetic. But it can be a part of generational trauma. Trauma passed down through the generations because it hasn't been treated, questioned or handled.

If you guys are enjoying the Bojack family drama/trauma, this is the season for you! I completely get the whole 'losing interest' in this series... as much as I love comedy, once they started pulling these kind of punches, I kind of wished they'd just keep on with the more serious stuff. It's so compelling!
But I also get that there are a lot of people that wouldn't watch this show if it didn't have that comedy aspect. It's definitely a great way to reach a wider audience.
