In season 2 episode 1 Bojack's mom says "I hope you die before me so you never know what it's like to lose a mother!" and after this episode that quote has a much deeper meaning...
After watching 5 seasons of this show I think I realize that Bojack family's problem was not just one traumatic event or one toxic person in particular, but it was the long legacy of people suppressing and unable to deal with their emotions. If you think about that Bojack is taking a step forward because he, at least, admits to be depressed sometimes.
That's the word I have been looking for: legacy. And not just with Bojack's, every one has a family legacy which we need to deal with so we can grow up, and not hurt both oneself and others.
I think you guys miss understand it a bit, bojack fixing his family house was a way to show he can fix his broken life, and destroying it was a way to say he dont need his past to be a part of his life anymore.
I honestly think Bojack was helping Eddie at the end. Telling him that he didn't want to "live in a shrine to the past" and that "time's arrow marches on", pretty much telling him without flat out saying that he's got to move on past losing his wife.
Knowing Bojack at this point in the story, he didn't intentionally mean to give Eddie that advice. Like, if Eddie confronted him and said "Yeah, I need to move on and accept that my wife is gone", Bojack would most likely respond "Uhh, sure, yeah, that's why I said it, I'm such a great person". It's not until the last episode of season 4 that we see Bojack actively trying to be a selfless person (the thing he does for Hollyhock).
I love how they are 3 people from different times grieving a loved one’s death •Honey is someone from the past who’s not even alive anymore grieving the death of his son •Eddie is from the present grieving a death of his wife who long time passed •And Bojack is grieving the recent death of Sarah Lynn
Just watched through Season 2 in one sitting. I fell in love with this show. How could this get any worse? I sort of started thinking of Bojack as an antihero BEFORE the New Mexico episode... now he's destroying lives, I hate him I'll want him dead by season 6, won't I?
@@Neo2266. let's just say that this show will be dealing with heavy mature content and in my opinion it's more of a moral grey area because everyone in the show has flaws but shouldn't excuse the behavior
Back in season 2 they foreshadowed what happen to Beatrice’s mother, bear was talking to BoJack and told him I hope you die before me so you never know what it feels to lose a mother. She wasn’t referencing death she was reference when her mother got brain surgery, and she “loss” her like her mind and bea loved her mother and that scarred her.
I think he tried to fix his past by fixing his old house but after realizing that this doesn't change anything, that he still doesn't fit there, that he is still broken he decided to do the opposite - let the past burn.
This is one of my favorite Bojack Horseman episodes, and the most upsetting for me to get though. It was raining most of the time I was at the beach, so I spent the next couple of days binge-watching the show in my hotel room. The weather was already getting me down, and this episode only added to that. I remember seeing Beatrice's mother after being lobotomized, staring at my phone in shock.
I think Eddymade him realisehe should keep going forward, to wherever that is. Instead of just staying in the same place, skulking over sad things, loss of someone near to you, that you where responsible for. Eddy being resopnsible for his wifes death. Bojack for Sarah Lynns. He didn't want to become that and left. ANso he almost killed them both.
@@magicalmess6255 Yeah. brainfarted when I wrote that. Nothing else other than Sarah Lynn would make sense in that sentence, so yes. You are right. Sarah Lyunn. Fixed it.
11:14 This totally had to be an Arrested Development reference. "Yeah, sure, the guy in the $10,000 suit is gonna hold the elevator for a guy who doesn't make that in a year. Come on!"
One of the greatest episode, on the legacy of trauma. Here Bojack fails to sympathise also because his mother was robbed of that and did the same to him. It might be my favorite and god knows that Bojack has tons of extraordinary episode, the visuals especially the end are other worldly Loved Rana's reactions !
he destroys the house because fixing it won't fix the shitty past of his family, bojack doesn't need to dwell in the past like eddie and don't need to be in a outdated town to find himself
In retrospect them falling into water from the height of an airplane would without a doubt kill them secretariat killed himself from like a quarter of that height

You can in fact rupture your uterus which could cause it to fall out of you but it’s usually from blunt force trauma. So lifting things wouldn’t do it.
Eddie was my favorite side character. The first sign into the town talks about the airplane industry basically made the town obsolete on the map. Eddie would have grown up able to fly any limit in the nights sky but after commercial air travel the open air became fly-zones. The unintentional effect of fast travel was the damaged environments around it same as building any highway.
