The way to do single line double headed is to only use chain signals, except to separate stations and siding locations, where you want rail signals to mark it as a separate spot trains can stop in.
FWIW, sushi belts are surprisingly easy to set up and quite effective. There is a little more skull sweat if you want to have perfectly ratioed sushi belts, but they are also totally worth it in the end, as you can be assured that your entire line is going to receive *exactly* what it needs. ...and, if you weave all three tiers of underground belts together, they add up to a whopping 90 items per second!
For double headed trains on a single track, you need chain signals and passing loops. Any section of single track should have a chain signal on the entrance to the track, as well as all required signals along it being chain signals (e.g. if it crosses another track) and then a single normal signal at the end or where it goes into the passing loop.

If you cover the whole mining patch in drills, you can mine 50% of it, and later on you will only have to move every drill 1 tile and that gives the last 50%. In theory. That's a lot of mining drills though. Also you need power poles occasionally.
Its so cursed. The miner efficency only getting the tile beneath them... The assemblers can't have more than 1 input per face, oil processing, fluid cracking, blue circuts, yellow science ah those must be painful. And then a tiny rocket
i think the one thing i'd change with this mod is have electric mining drills cover a 3x3 - in vanilla it's 5x5, and 3x3 maintains the "one further out in each direction than the building takes up" of the vanilla coverage edit: i'd also make the enemy nests and worms smaller as well. so they're 1x1
pretty cool things that made me 😟: thats not how train signals work, you are wasting so much nuclear fuel, don't blueprint concrete like that, put the power poles behind the turrets
Would there be any downsides from just setting up a full stripped array of mining patterns covering the whole mineable region and just have to redo each patch of ore a few times as you sweep thru the unused stripes only after all the lines die (or slow enough to justify just abandoning for the next combing setup)?
if I was using this mod I would only be using solar power and accumulators because if they only take one square space I think they're the best form of power generation and storage of power

Doesn't work. You can't pull it back out, because all 4 sides of the machine already have a pipe on it, which would mix the fluids. :(
