its the roughest one to get through with him. i think you can see why ive put off rerecording it now. it does makes sense and you definitely see the pull of the tethers Matt talks about in the cameo. The "id have to come back... alone. i couldnt do it, i just couldnt" i think sums it all up for me and after that I understood. That would... yeah. if i was in kerry's place it would completely crumble me. i think hes thinking of his own mental health here and using his need for fame as an excuse to stay. maybe he even convinced himself its the whole reason why.
It's for love that Kerry couldn't do it. He can't handle the hearrbreak of losing his loved one again. At the beginning, he was in deep depression and there's some clue that because of his previous lover's suicide. And now V's life in on the line with only 2 months to find a cure, Kerry just couldn't handle it.

Its so hard to leave him but i think he tries to kick you out so he can just let go and stop being strong. The endings were definitely made to yank on your heart. And i believe they arent a The End but a To Be Continued. The longing to get back to Kerry is real. i really hate leaving him hanging just like Johnny did. not knowing if im alive or dead because of my crazy plan. I hope with this ending, Kerry reconsiders and tries to find you. Regretting his decision instantly.
Theres no winning for Kerry in this ending. He would never beg you to stay, as he would hate to control your final months, as much as it hurts to watch you leave, he wants you to go do what you want. He couln't cope going with you. Night city is the one place where Kerry has power and connections, and is the only place where V has hope in finding a cure (lets face it, theres not going to be anyone in the badlands that knows anything about this technology, idk who Panam is trying to fool by saying she has "connections". By leaving the city, you are giving up on your life, and losing your life long dream to become a legend that you've worked so hard for up until now, feels really left field for V in my opinion), just to watch you throw up blood and deteriorate in the middle of no where, where the only thing he can do to help is hold you. After losing so many, and feeling so alone for so long, powerless in his own life, and a slave to corperations, that level of powerlessness and hopelessness isn't something I don't think anyone could prepare for. Or, this ending happens. He supresses every urge to beg you to stay, knowing you probably will never return and there's nothing he can do to help you out there, but knowing it's want you want. The "Badlands isn't you" line Kerry says is true. Kerry is the only romance I feel that truely understands V in any of the endings. When he says "Badlands isn't you", I feel like he's really saying "Giving up on your dreams, after all you've lost, and leaving your chance at a future isn't you". So sad, but I get it, and I'm glad we get this moment with Kerry cause it communicates so much about V and Kerry's relationship.
Shame how there’s zero good endings with Kerry and V’s romance. All revolve in Kerry being mad or sad or a mix of the two, only slightly decent one is when you don’t call Kerry and his voicemail at the end just has him missing you thinking you’ll come back.
I never heard that voicemail. How heartbreaking. I like the path of glory but it's easy to get an angry response. I think even if its sad and he's trying to hide it from V that just showed how much he cares and loves him so with that I think it's the best one. The Devil ending is only a contender cause of the phone calls with Kerry which are very caring. But yeah there's no riding into the sunset with him.
Man Kerr's voice actor Matthew brings him to life with a layer of hurt that guts me I was a straight male v in my playthrough, loyal to panam so when I thought we were just guys being dudes I rejected him twice and his defeat made me feel so bad lol He plays it off pretty good tho, god knows I would spiral into self loathing again after rejection like that
Matt is beyond amazing in his performance. One of his absolute best! And I've went on a filmography binge. He's so underrated and deserves main characters! I dunno if you know but Matt told me in a cameo that they sometimes filmed his face for emotion too. That hits me pretty hard in the feels. He absolutely has the best rejection responses. I played through the others to be able to compare them. His emotion is so raw and like you said he covers his feelings up fast like a true celeb. Olga did an amazing job writing for Kerry and the whole team bringing him to life. His struggles with depression before you meet him makes him even more real and special that you help pull him out of it and give him a reason to keep going.
It's still weird that kerry is like 70 years old. I feel like parts of the game weren't originally ment to take place 50 years after the books and all since kerry seems late 50s to me

i love kerry so much and i both understand and hate this ending. his voicemail is so needlessly rude. the implication that V has done something that requires forgiveness is just.. offputting. i understand why kerry didn’t leave, but i just can’t believe it, really. if V was dying wouldn’t he rather spend every last minute with him if he could? he seriously would rather use his music career as a front for his fear? it’s irritating because i understand it but i also hate it so much. kerry is such a wonderfully complex character, i just wish we could’ve had happy endings with him.
The line that sums it all up for me and made me go OHHHHhhh was "id have to come back alone". gets me every time. that utter crushing feeling, the helplessness. returning to a place that has all these memories with the one you loved and then they werent there when you come back. no longer at your side. Kerry's had so much depression in his past, losing people he loved. abandonment. loss of control with all of them since there was nothing he could do or have done. i think its more sadness masked by anger then anything. Its easier and safer to feel angry then to let yourself feel such crushing sadness. just like with johnny he could never let himself appear to be weak or vulnerable infront of him.

This is fully in line with who Kerry is, who he's always been...a coward. Johnny said it himself! And no one knew Kerry like Johnny did. I wouldn't have expected anything less from Kerry. Knowing V will die, knowing he could've spent what time V had left traveling around, writing more songs, experiencing life outside of NC. But no, cowardice won out, again...and he let V go, never to see him again. What a load of 💩... Same issue with lady V and River...no commitment, never was that serious after all. I think the Panam and male V ending is by far the best, sweetest ending. At least V is with someone who literally put her life and clan on the line for him, who will be there when he takes his last breath, who won't let him die...alone.
It's hard to give up everything you've worked for, for something you want when you don't know if that want is going to work out it's hard but also at the same time that is life so I don't know life is kind of just fucked making decisions can be a bitch especially decisions like the one Kerry had to make and I suppose if you want you can say it's selfish of kerry to think of himself but the same would go for v don't forget v took these risks too begin with and yes v didn't know that heist would go wrong but that is a risk mercs take so idk

I really hope with some future dlc stuff they give us more romances all around. This choice as the only gay male option seemed really crappy. Kerry is not the greatest. I would like Emmett from the bar or a few others around night city. River would be nice.
