Great intro! Just watched The Blues Brothers a few weeks ago. My fish is named Jake Blues! 😂 Typing as i watch. I had it too, glad you're over it. It wiped me out for about 2 weeks.
Findland sampo drums. Stave snares from teak. I would be willing to believe most individuals who think outside the box have pretty much used every kind of wood imaginable to make drums, much like a whiskey barrel. Man utilize's available resources. What amazes me the most and I do stand alongside you is your drumkit is your work station. 😅 Necessity is the mother of invention. The buffing pad/ yellow ski- doo mention was interesting. Some of us do not throw out a thing. Hope you are playing the pad in the easy chair. Miss you beating the skins a little. It has been common like your arm flex and Ggrrrrrr. I could actually ATTEMPT to keep up with you 10 lessons in so with all the time and sacrifice you have attributed to your art....I Thank you from within.
Haven't been playing in my most recent because when I make these, usually everyone else is asleep upstairs. Usually it doesn't bother Michelle but when my grand daughter stays, which she does quite often, she will be directly above me for the most part. It's loud on this end of the house.. Maybe I will film those ahead of time.
Snare drum build could be cool. Even at that height. I've never played a 6 1/2 or 8' deep snare.ever. even after twenty plus years. But I always wanted one and that'd be cool to take a 13' tom and make one. I just cut down my pearl export bass drum.i did a kinda chop job. But was able to sand a bearing edge since I don't have a router or table or table saw.went from a 22x18 down to 14. I just started painting it and it's gunna be killer when it's done
I bet using like 1600ish grit sandpaper with the compound (acting like wet sanding/buffing all in one) would probably work pretty great for those areas that have seversk depth scratches as well as those circular ones
Good Sunday morning to you, my friend. I have been wondering where you had gone to. It’s so nice to see you again. You mentioned Metallica. Have you heard Nothing Else Matters? I think it is a great song for drumming. If you do like it, Miley Cyrus sings with them on the Howard Stern Show. It is here on UA-cam. Wow!!! It’s something else. I would really love to strip my drums down to just the shells and give them a good cleaning/polishing, but that is just sooo much work, and for right now anyway, I am just not willing to do it. Maybe some day. Take care, my frugal friend. I just love your show.❤️🙏🙏❤️🙏🙏❤️
That wasn’t my choice of song. I was thinking more along the lines of enter Sandman, and that one they changed from an Irish drinking song. A little faster pace

Dude, I love my 14x8 snare. Totally different sound- serious power!
