It’s not that fans of the original Snow White are against DEI, it’s that it doesn’t fit in that character S.W has always been skin white as snow, hair black as ebony, lips red as rose. They are messing with a classic and very old story that was a folk tale even before the Grim Brothers published the book. Bottom line is that we don’t like race swaps if a character or person in history was originally white then they should stay that way.
If Disney wants to put more DEI in then have original content. I’m sure there are stories from Africa, India, Spain, Mexico, Columbia, Japan and china they could be inspired by, or heaven forbid they have a new idea. Believe it or not Little Mermaid was not the first Disney race swap. The Princess from the Princess and the frog in the original story was white too. And that story was nothing like the film.
Moana Aladdin and Lion King musical did well because DEI was suited to the story because they were in the right settings.
