Blaming those who do not have a stake in your success will not change anything, so it’s just an exercise in futility. Disney+ Stakeholders are looking at Subscriptions first, viewership second, and only looking at negative reviews to understand why those first two metrics are failing. If Subscriptions and viewership were on target, Leslie wouldn’t be having this conversation because no one would care about the negative reviews.

I'm a 53 year old male (for context). I'll skip getting into the LGBTQ+, nude swimming scene, and other issues. My overriding problem with Acolyte is the boring story. Lots of sitting around with nothing happening, then meandering pacing that doesn't let you know when something is finally going to happen, canon breaking, 'Geez the whole show sucks.
Watch any typical Lifetime movie and you'll get the same level of boredom as the exact same problems occur. The stories largely consist of talking and sitting around doing nothing productive while elevator music plays in the background. I've suffered through many such flicks in service to former girlfriends. I'm just 4 years younger than you. Simply put: guys our age typically just don't like this kind of tedious storytelling.
I'm in my 50s as well, and I can tell you now there is no point of listen to people like this, she goes back and forth with her argument saying that this is a show about women but she keeps bringing up the original trilogy, talking about there's going to be a Twist in the last two episodes, and we already know that is going to be the woman with the green skin which is her wife in real life or one of the mothers who survived their home been burned down, there is nothing about this, that's going to be a big twist, no one considered this Canon and no one consider this part of the Star Wars universe, she keeps bringing up Ryan Johnson like he is the savior of the Star Wars Universe, and no one considers episode 7 8 or 9 Canon either.

The continuity can be all over the place, dialogue can be repetitive and he’ll have certain things happen just for shock value even if it doesn’t make sense to the story. Leslie, aside from her breaking canon. Her own story, doesn’t make sense within itself. Characters motives change from episode to episode, major plot holes, the list goes on.

I have been reading and watching Star Wars for decades and their amazing diverse history. When George Lucas and his company writers created Star Wars he wanted a diverse group of people and aliens. Include many characters from other the universe. He was not thinking about race, sexuality, gender, or pronounce. It was like this from 1970s up until he sold LucasFilms. Which I am sorry to say was not smart selling it to Disney. This ideology and political agenda stuff has only become a thing in the last 5-10 years. George Lucas and his team was a amazing group of craters that just loved making comics, books, and movies as they create amazing decades of stories that were always very diverse.

If the views and subscriptions were there they would not pay attention to the negative reviews. They’re looking at the negative reviews to find out why their prime metrics are lackluster.
It’s true that female fans are a big part of the Star Wars fandom. It’s also true that many female fans do not like the Acolyte. Fans are universally rejecting the Acolyte and it’s causing negative subscription flow from Disney+. Of course that horrible kid is gonna wig out when faced with a limit. It's the fan's fault for not walking away long before it reached this abysmal level of bad. I rented the first movie after the original three episodes, I don't even remember the name but it had Liam Neeson and Ewan MacGregor and honestly it had such badly written dialogue I called it quits after 10 minutes and never looked back. The fans kept lowering the bar and forking over their cash year after year, it was bound to reach intolerable levels at some point. And of course Disney was going to feel entitled to the audience they haven't worked for in decades.

What is the point of suprise when you telling everyone that they should "expect" suprise?
You cannot recreate the incomplete unbelievable, unknown ability to believe Vader was Luke’s father. It was such a shock, none of us wanted to believe it. When it happened in real time … we were glued to the silver screen. Most of us had to go buy tickets to see it again to make sure we had heard it right the first time. Especially, with Luke holding his cut off hand / arm. We all knew we would have let go and fallen along with Luke. We all cried, “Nooo” in the theater with Luke. That moment changed everything we understood about life. It was everything we talked about in school, as if it had happened to our best friend.
That moment cannot be recreated again, especially by a hack writer in a series where we could have told you the entire plot line in the first trailer release. Headland really thinks the audience is so dumb that even the simplest scene has to be explained in the most basic form. This isn’t even a high school play, this is an elementary school musical, where the teacher comes out on stage to move kids into the right positions for the scenes and steps out of the way long enough for parents to take photos of their precious kids.
She’s right about one thing. We can’t trust reviews at all, ESPECIALLY the critics that rated this S+ material.
She actually said "You can't trust reviews any more" with a straight face? That's probably her greatest Star Wars achievement ever and it's certainly far better acting than anything seen in "The Acolyte".

My dad was the one who introduced me to Star Wars when I was 5 years old and I absolutely loved it. We went to see the Clone Wars movie together and watched the series every Friday night when a new episode dropped. We’d order pizza and make brownies or cookies. Those are memories I’ll cherish forever now that he has since passed away.
I think he’d be very upset at the direction the franchise is going and we’d probably be making fun of The Acolyte together.

To put it in simple terms, Acolyte is the Pontiac Astek of Star Wars. Not that some of the previous Disney SW films weren't Edsels either.

The biggest problem with the Acolyte is the lack of character development so whoever is doing that, needs to do better on future projects.

I'll be honest, I thought season 1 of Russian Dolls was pretty good but the Acolyte? I can't believe somebody approved that script. It's seriously the worst writing of any major series I've seen. How could Disney have ever thought she was a good choice to write a Star Wars series? Also, her entitlement and arrogance is not serving her well.
What twist and turn all the fans knew who the Sith was at the start 😮💨 they revealed the twins identity in the first episode didn't even leave you guessing. they don't even know how to do a twist and turn🙄
3 rules when it comes to a story.
#1. When coming up with a character, make their race/sexuality/gender as a background piece of information like Anakin was the chosen one oh and Anakin happened to be a male, don't make background information be in the front, making a character be gay/black/woman or any combination of them for the sake of making a character be that to fill a quota then have it be their personality, it makes the character feel fake. Like don't have a character constantly mention their sexuality or gender or race, it belittles the achievements they've done as it comes off if they didn't happen to be the sexuality/race/gender they are then they wouldn't have achieved their awards etc, and then constantly bringing up their race/gender/sexuality is annoying. If a straight white guy constantly brings up in a movie that he's the straight white guy who bangs Ton's of women we hate the character coz he comes off as fake and a douce. Same goes for any combination of them, you can make a gay black woman character be great without having to rely on them being a gay black woman. Let their accomplishments speak for them not their background Information.
#2. If and when your game/show/movie flops, DO NOT BLAME THE AUDIENCE, they didn't make it bad, you did, if a chef makes a plate of food and no one wants to take a bite no matter who it's offered to, it's not the people refusing to try it to blame it's the chef, chef made a bad meal, those who tried it didn't like it and everyone took note or didn't want it regardless. If I made a script for a show and it bombed, I blame my story telling, I then get over myself and look at criticisms and try to improve myself and try again. By blaming the audience you are dooming yourself to repeat the same mistakes over again, blaming someone else for your mistakes stops you from improving and being better at what you wanna be. Again with a chef metaphor, If a chef believes his food is perfect with 0 chance of it being bad, yet no one likes it but him, he'll eventually go out of business due to lack of customers.
And #3, take ego out of it, don't matter if you're the best script writer out of a group of 20 or never had a script get rejected no matter how times the movie or show bombs, no one is perfect, we make mistakes, we own up to them and do better next time. By thinking that you can't screw up and your star wars show will be perfect, the second you get negative criticism going against what you consider perfect, you refuse to listen coz you believe it's perfect theres no possible way it's bad, especially if you surround yourself with yes men, if everyone around you tells you want you wanna hear coz they're afraid you'll fire them for being negative about your projects, then you've doomed yourself the second you created that sense of fear, no one is brave enough to tell you that it's not perfect, means you'll release subpar products thinking they're perfect and inadvertently blame everyone else but yourself coz you don't believe you're capable of making subpar products coz everyones been telling you you make perfection everytime, coz they're afraid to be truthful.

There used to be a saying, "Money Talks." Clearly the lost revenue as fans stop tuning in or spending money on the merchandise and products should be a clear indication here. So if in their world its only the "Loud Minority" then how is it that said loud minority are the majority of people that no longer are spending money?

Clearly the director and main actor don’t know what talking about when it comes to Star Wars and they obviously lack the ability to take accountability for their trash that they are making it’s clear Disney doesn’t care about what happens to the Star Wars franchise

I love it how these creators can't see that the trash they make is the reason why people aren't watching it. And then have the gall to blame the fans, thus making the fans hate them even more. Everyone else's fault bar theirs. In a way, it's hilarious. They have all gotten what they deserve.
