    With oil filters that screw into the bottom of the engine, it's worth filling them with fresh oil before screwing them on. Means you can get the level right sreaight awat and avoids oil starvation on first start.

    Excellent video. I’ll make a quick inspection on my Jimny before I take it for the first service to the dealership. Cheers! 🎉😊

      @DT95WA I found that interesting how Suzuki Australia doubled the service interval length from 7,500kms to 15,000kms?
      I think it was in late 2019 ish as the first JB74s that were sold here had 3yrs standard warranty with 7,500kms service intervals, but Suzuki changed it to a 5yrs standard warranty with 15,000kms service intervals, yet to my knowledge nothing else has changed? 🤔
      Surely thats abit too far in-between engine oil changes? I never reach that, do about 5,000 to 8,000kms each year, but if i did do more I'd be changing it more often.

    Nice vid Tony..Is there not a torque setting for the sump plug?

    • @IIGrayfoxII
      @IIGrayfoxII Місяць тому

      There is
      35nm for oil sump plug
      23nm for manual drain bolt
      21nm for manual fill bolt
      55nm for front and rear diff drain bolt
      50nm for front and rear diff fill bolt
      17nm for auto drain bolt
      23nm for transfer case bolts
      These values are from the "gold Series" service manual that was translated from russian
      Now you dont have to use a torque wrench, but you can use your head.
      auto trans pans are thin, so snug is enough
      manual bolts can use a little more than snug
      diff bolts snug and maybe 1/4 turn
      oil sump, snug and 1/5 turn
      As Uncle Rodger would say "Just use feeling", but if you are unsure, use a torque wrench

    What grade diff oil would you recommend for my Jimny with ARB air lockers? 🤔
    My workshop used Valvoline High Performance 85W140 but said a 90W140 mineral oil doing light work would be fine which i found confusing, as thats a thicker oil than what they already put in it during installation?
    Curious to see what others think, also the oil capacity as I'll be doing my first oil change on my diffs soon.

    • @MightyOverlander
      @MightyOverlander  8 місяців тому +1

      I’ll ask Phill the Mechanic and see what he recommends

      @@MightyOverlander cheers mate 👍Phills service vid was very helpful.
      I've started getting stuff ready like I've bought a pump, made sure i had a 17mm socket for the drain plug etc.
      Also i found that a 10mm male square socket is a perfectly tight fit for the filler plug compared to a 3/8 drive ratchet which is a little loose, but doubt that'd strip anyways as it isn't high torque.
      Could you also please ask Phill where i can buy those new nylon and copper replacement washers? From a Suzuki dealership or just universal ones from anywhere online? Cheers.

      300ml or so would be taken up by your oil filter. Check level again after engine has been turned over briefly like he did in the video.
