Is there a chance you can put some more centipede content out just not a lot out there. Thanks.
He’s like the sportscaster of Lawn care.
Centipede lawn brought me here.
Thank you for the video. I'm in Panama City, Florida. After Hurricane Michael my yard was destroyed. Huge oaks left craters, etc. Filled and leveled yard and sodded 32 pallets of St Augustine. I really want to learn how to make it thrive. This video helped a lot. Thanks again.
Good stuff Allyn, all the tips for SA (fungicide, fert and pre-emergent) are ringing true for me here in Lakewood Ranch FL. The lawn is looking good and shaping up well for the growth season.
I’m in Houston and I put down Scott’s the first week of March every year and have not had any problems for last 30 years in this house.
Jerrl Evans which one you buy?
GINO SUPER DFW
Weed and feed (atrazine) works very well for st Augustine.
But your grass would be happier if you waited til April.
I came to this video because I'm in north Houston and I have a great lawn, only there's one large patch. Being that its almost June, I'm wondering if it's too late to try to remedy? I'm new to trying to keep a super healthy lawn, but I want to try to figure it out. I reel mow twice a week
I am also in Houston, I bought my first home in 2019 and since then I have been using Milorganite and I can't complain. But recently due to the cold they've turned brown.
Alan, you never let me down. You always have the the information i'm looking for.
Ready for that sweet St. Aug to wake up here in North TX! It's comin! Pre-emergent from early winter REALLY making a HUGE difference when compared to neighbor's weed farm. Mine are manageable this year. Can't wait for the green goodness!
You got me with the Diaz reference. Love your work on the freedom factory !
Thanks for this video. I ordered my fertilizer but had no idea when to put it down. I knew time was getting close but now.....I got it. I was also thinking about weed control. My lawn is too new for pre-emergent so I’ll be looking into Image. I’ve got a sprinkler system going in next month. Thanks again for the video.
I’m so glad I was referred to your helpful lawn care videos! We just moved into a house that has St Augustine grass and I have no clue what to do to help it thrive and achieve maximum health and abundance. I’m in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and our weather is quirky compared to the warmer states you describe St Augustine being most popular. If you had any tips that differ based on variable locations that’d be so greatly appreciated!
Omg! Thanks for talking about thatching. I was going to thatch today...
Great Video! And Thanks for the Centipede content....👍🏻👍🏻
I just learned how completely wrong I was about my centipede grass. This video was perfect!
Love the channel.. love the format. It would be great if we could have an episode for summer. I am a novice and my lawn is centipede. Probably your only fan from Bahrain! 😁
Thanks for the great info. I have St. Augustine grass in Austin Texas. Waiting patiently for the warm weather to come back. Love the videos
I'm in ATX, too! Good luck to ya brotha!
I’m just starting to do ANYTHING with my lawn, as the spray and pray companies weren’t doing the job. Planning on my first applications product, in St Augustine, this weekend. Wish me luck.
If your st Aug is under a tree or in shade keep the blades as long as possible 4.5 inches to allow for a greater surface area of sunlight absorption. Especially if it's Floratam variety. The higher you go the more you will need to keep up with your fungicide treatments as well.
Awesome video I'm new to the lawn game and you're videos are a great help to me I'm down in central Florida new home owner and my lawn is st. Augustine I just threw down sunniland weed and feed 🤙to help it grow it's looking kinda yellow thanks for great videos God bless 🤙
Love the timely information sir. Subscribing and following along. Looking forward to having the best at Augustine lawn this summer. Greetings from Parrish FL!
Hi Neighbor!
Love the Diaz brothers.. Love the video too! 👍🏼👍🏼
Back to back nice Allyn 💪😎
That was weird I’m in Allen and you did the work for me thanks lol !
Thank you for making this video!
One more thing...We need to find someone that can step in for Mark Govan. He has passed away. He hosted Florida Gardening on 970 WFLA, on Sunday mornings for maybe 20 years....His knowledge of Florida gardening was priceless in this area. I don't know if anyone can replace him. God bless him...he was a great asset for our community and gardening questions...
Just found your channel, subbed! You are a great teacher.
Great video like always 👍🏽 I like the stickers in the background brah
Yours show up well too! 🤘👊
Great Informative Video! A lot of great advice.
Thanks bro!
Hello from Parrish, FL neighbor. Really enjoying your videos. Learning so much about DIY lawn care for our St. Augustine lawn care. Suggestion: Should you produce a FL lawns, for viewers like me? Since I am trying to learn about unique treatment for only my FL lawn and other things. Congratulations on a great audience growth.
Cruise Addicts hey I am from Parrish too!!! I love your handle name by the way.
Love the tips
I watched other UA-camrs and they emphasized dethatching so I did.... They live in the north and transition and I live in Texas with st Augustine. I'm really trying to bring up my lawn. I dethatched, aerated, put down vigor weed and feed and have been watering but still need to apply disease control and insect control. I'm honestly getting overwhelmed because there's so much knowledge and steps and products but I want a nice lawn dang nabbit. I'm 31
Lighting is good in this one.
Thanks bro. I'm working on it 💪👊
So much information. Glad to see some targeted content towards Centipede.
When is the best time to apply Air-8 and Prodimeine? One before the other, same time, wait time between application of Prodimeine before Air-8 if that is the preferred method? Additionally is spike aeration as or more effective in Centipede in the Coastal NC sandy soil vs Air-8 and does the damage caused by cutting stolons by mechanical help or harm the Centipede?
I have been learning how to manage Centipede in Coastal NC for a few years now. I am starting this year in a well maintained Centipede yard with well irrigation and wanted to make sure to get the correct pre-emergent down along with targeted fertilizer for Centipede. Picked up the Bio Stimulant Pack (arrived next day with free shipping how awesome is that!!!!), Prodimeine, Atizine, and some 8-1-8 XGRN.
Question: I know of a location that uses manure in a very very! perfect consistency, fine blend, could you mix chicken poop and this manure blend together and put that on your lawn through a spreader 10'000 SQ Foot yard, the reason being is my claybase 8 year old fescue lawn is getting thicker as the years go by, but i want to place material and build up a thick healthy layer. The manure is the kind you typically mix into your garden soil to enhance plant growth. thanks! Also i wish to apply this as a FIRST spring wake up application. Love your videos!
I realized that my dad never understood the bag rates on fertilizers and was probably throwing down 2/3 pounds of N per 1,000 sq ft lmao
The lawn would always run into disease issues. And he would water at night 😂
hey man new subscriber, love all the info. I have a 25 to 30 degree sloping yard and for whatever reason the soil stays extremely moist all the time. I have no explanation for it but it causes the lawn to be doormant basically year round never greens up. cant figure out whats going on. ever heard of something like this?
Your the best
Whats a good weed killer for nutsedge on a newly plugged Zoysia grass Thanks.Keep up good work
@lawncarenut how do I go about the 1/3 rule if my grass is high in some areas and really low in others? I know, it sucks, but I'm just getting my LCN on! Ordered some RGS and Humic 12 from your website. About to throw down some Milo and then spray these two products over that. But yeah, let me know about the 1/3 rule.
Hey Allyn, I have St. Aug and I have a lot of dead spots looks like thatch I have never cared for my lawn but I'm trying to start I'm in Miami and the St Aug I have was SOD placement from the previous homeowner in this video you said not to dethatch st Aug and I feel like I have a fungus problem I put down fungus control from Bio-Advanced and 30 minutes later it started raining and it has not stopped and won't for the next 2 weeks, I bought Disease EX but I'm not sure if I should throw'er down with this rain.
Atrazine also suppresses bermuda grass in st. augustine. Using atrazine early will help the st. aug get a head start so that by the time the atrazine wears off and the Bermuda wakes up from being stunted, the st. aug will be better able to defend itself. Keep in mind atrazine should not be applied above 85 degrees.
Is that right?!
Spring is near, should I put down a post-emergent to kill any or all weeds first, before I put down a pre-emergent or a weed n feed afterward for St Augustine grass?
Tons of info
Liquid Aeration before or after preemergent?? Seems like the mech action of prodiamine may be impacted by aeration. Thank you.
I've always wondered if they made a machine with round skinny blades and you could run it over your lawn in some type of Criss cross pattern and cut all the stolen's (AKA runners) this way making multiple plants instead of all of them running off of one main stolen wouldn't that create a stronger Lawn??
Thanks for the video 💪💪💪💪. When in spring can you aerate and top dress your st. Augustine lawn?
Kevin Mcclennon yes I do that and use red dirt as the top dress
On the Image purple label, does that kill nutsedge as well? I noticed that there is also a green label one if I’m correct. Are these both St Aug friendly and what are their differences?
Allyn, I’m down here in Houston. When should I apply Weed & Feed Fertilizer?
Love the MMA references...
My lawn is green right now.
Then you are clear to open fire on the lawn 🔥🔥🔥☀️
Do you have a video on cutting st Augustine plugs from existing lawn to fill in dead areas?? Or is that a wrong approach
Down here in Florida, I just put down feed a week ago on my centipede grass. What would you suggest adding here soon before summer?
Put milorganite out a 2 weeks ago. Starting to see some of the blades turn purple. Assuming it’s the phosphate. I was going to reapply toward the middle to end of May? Do I need to switch fertilizers for centipede?
I got that Louisiana grass/carpetgrass, which looks a lot like centipede. (I'm in south Louisiana) So do you think the same rules apply to this type of grass.
Thoughts or vid on citra blue St Augustine?
Allyn, please bring back some of that original LCN music in your older videos.
Ohwhale you got a feature in LCNs next video man... great request. His older music is ace!!
Travis Hori
Just saw haha that’s awesome.
When is the best time to overseed centipede grass?
whats your opinion on the grass clippings? should I stop bagging?
How do you feel about Black Bio? Soil is 64deg, grass is starting to come out of dormancy. 2oz per 1000
Hello I need your expertise I am growing 31 tall fescue Central Valley California everything is going well but some crab grass is coming out and somewhere looking plant called purslane can I use during the day new grass growth Scott triple action to kill this problem. I had to put in a lot of work during this process the soil is Sandy and they never put water for about 3 years it was going well before I use Roundup to help me kill the weeds and I did rotate the dirt many times to listen to soil thank you for your time
Question- you said do not dethatch centipede, but i have areas with thatch that are so think that the grass is matted down and won't grow high enough to mow with the rest of the yard. Any ideas?
I’m in Virginia. I’m getting irrigation installed this week. I do have a new construction lawn in the back. The front I have set up really good bc of these videos. My question is should I compost and seed in the spring? Or would it just be a waste of money. I’m aerating the lawn after they install the irrigation to help the lawn.
What did you decide?
Hello from central florida...You talk a lot about soil temp for starting pre emergants. Here my avg soil temp never gets below 60. When do I apply preemergants when my soil temp never gets below 60
40 mins of nuttery on a Thursday!! WHAAAAAT!!!!!!
Should I aerate then lay fert or vise versa?
Its May 7th 2020, can I still put out my 2nd application of prodiamine? It's going to rain tonight and I'd like to get it done?
Will weed and feed (Sunniland) damage my trees?
I didn’t think I could respect you any more until you start talking UFC. I’m trying to triangle choke some basket weed. Doesn’t seem to be a common problem so it’s hard to find info on it. Going to hit it with Prodiamine all be it a little late and chop up some of the shade I’m getting from massive oaks and palms.
I have running weed clover leaf with bulbs roots when they mature it is Thousands of seeds. I don't know the name of the weeds but there 2 kind of clover. Another weed purple flower. Can you please tell me what kind of solution I can use to get rid of them. My lawn is very green.
CAN SOME OME TELL ME WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN Centipede grass versus Saint Augustine grass
I have patches of absolutley beautiful lush centipede in my yard and trying to help it take on my yard.. i need help
I’m so confused now. I watched your video for BEGINNERS where you recommended the 3-1 weed n feed. If I understand what this video says is no nitrogen. I live in MI and I’m confused as to do I fertilize or not. Also I have patches and I think I need to seed. Do I seed 1st, then fertilize?
LCN - I just threw down pre-emergent (a little late I know) and some Scott’s Bonus S on Sunday and Monday. Yesterday, we got buckets of rain in the Jacksonville FL area and I’m concerned that what I just put down might have been washed out, should I be concerned?
I have both, San Agustin, and Centipede, but I would like to get rid of Centipede, and keep only San Agustin. Is there a way, that I can do that??
Can you used tenacity as preemergent
“Terrible analogy..... but you get the idea” 💡
🔥🔥😎
How do you kill Lyreleaf Sage in Centipede? It’s trying to take over my whole yard and I can’t find any info on how to kill it without hurting the centipede.
Im from RGV south Texas. Should I throw pre-emergent or should I put some post-emergent. I know it’s already may. But I need some feed back please. I’m getting lots of weeds. Thanks.
Same boat
I'm 6 or 7 exits south of LCN and I don't see getting a frost at this point. Hell, I haven't even had a freeze this year. My St. Augustine has not gone dormant.
That 16-0-8 Weed N Feed is what I put down for the low nitrogen.
@@StrikitRich Am with you on that. UF calls for a 2-0-1 ratio or a 1-0-1 ratio on st. aug. About 10 exits north of LCN and not dormant. Just put down 16-0-8 w/o atrazine and the color is looking great. Installed plugs in late November and December. Used sunnilands nitrogreen. Was .69lbs/1000 of nitrogen.
@@webeducation The 16-0-8 from Lowes/Sunniland has all the minors, too. Don't know why Home Despot want so much more for their 'LESCO' branded 16-4-8.
@@StrikitRich StrikitRich Yes i believe your talking about the purple and white bag at Lowe's. When it comes to lawn care Lowe's wins easily. They even had sta-green dithiopyr which if i remember was dithiopyr only. Home depot had dithiopyr but mixed with mcpp. Not sure about the cost though, they might be charging extra for the added phosphorus. Both stores are usually only a dollar or two difference.
@@webeducation Good call on the Sta-Green Dithiopyr. I see my local Lowes has 78 bags. EDIT: Online Lowes has the Sta-Green containing Prodiamine. I asked about this, the listing checked out (same SKU) but the bags all said Dithiopyr. No biggie, though the bags looked like they been there a long while. I saw the Spectracide product with 3 herbicides and Dithiopyr for $12.38. FOR USE ON ALL LAWNS until you read the very, very fine print: Not for use on Floratam, Centipede or Dichondra.
I heard spring pre-emergent was bad for centipede?
When can I seed centipede if necessary to cover some patches that got dug for a new sprinkler system late last year?
Is recommend you sod. Once it warms up weeds will rage. Sod helps you keep them down by blotting out the sun.
What is the aerate ?
Is the podcast available on google play music?? I cannot seem to find it.
it's there just no updates in a while
I don’t think I got my 2020 guide
I'm confused, I'm in Houston, do I put down Prodiamine and XGN right now? Or just XGN and then when it starts warming put down the weed and feed?
Prodiamine now. XGN when soil temps cross 60 heading to 65. If you are already there then both together.
In Houston we’re above 55 and I have St. Aug. Do I drop Promiadine then spray for weeds already grown? Or spray first then drop Promiadine? Lots of weeds since I didn’t drop pre-emergent in the Fall. Thanks Allen 👍🏻
Matt S I’m wondering the same. Here in Houston and there’s all kinds of weeds growing everywhere!
The pre emergent and post emergent can be done on the same day. One will not interfere with the other.
What is the grass that you pull out from the soil on this video at minute 7'30"? Is it St Augustine or Crabgrass??
St. Aug
I think I killed mine , St.Aug , too much rain & no replacement of nutrients seemed to have killed it , my HOA is wanting me to replace it .
I can’t afford it , any tips brining back at. Aug , treated with baking soda , water , soap , veg oil ,
It stunted growth & now there’s no new growth,
I’m moving from my beautiful Bermuda I’ve grown from seed the last 4 years to house with newly sodded centipede. Any opinions of centipede? Should I nuke it and plant something else? Can it look good?
Yes it can look great . Just take care of it and it will perform nicely.
he's like a father forecaster but for grass(its a good thing).
Ok so I’m in south Texas. Zone 9b and I just laid carpet grass. Thats what we call it down here but it just like the grass your laying on (centipede). Anyway. We’re going to get down in the 30’s Wednesday. And yes for only one day lol that’ll be the coldest day all winter. Will my grass die? Please help!
it will be fine - just keep up your watering schedule once the cold subsides.
The Lawn Care Nut thank you!!
3 years later and Sunniland is now $25/5k sq ft. Dang inflation...
Your mom gave you ice cream to keep you hydrated most likely as a youngster you refused to drink due to sore throat or just down right dont feel like it, so we all like icecream and popsicles and it melts and helps to keep you hydrated. My two cents worth. Oh by the way I noticed the Carbon X disappeared off the Green County Fertilizer website under your portfolio. When or will it be back on there? Thanks!
We have it on thelawncarenut.com right now for you 👊
@@Thelawncarenut 👊🤝💦🙏🍀☘🌱 by the way those "LCN" and "Throwr down decals look fantastic on my John Deere X300! Thank you sir!
Why the hell is it that the Home Depot in my area doesn't carry Milorganite? They don't have it in stock... I'm just north of you. I start out with Milorganite first...Then around April, I put down Scotts Bonus S...and as the late spring and summer goes along...I very lightly fertilize with 10,10,10 about twice a month.
Pelt Down Posse, the HDepot by me in South Florida ran out of Milo in the summer. Recently they had gotten one yes one pallet. I think it’s more supply and demand. When you do see some you gotta grab a few bags to hold. They are sold out the next day!!!! Hope that helps.
How do I keep out my neighbors Bermuda out of my perfect zoysia?
Fence
Good analogy. With the Diaz Brothers and Wrestlers in general. I thought that was cool Two different types of grass Two different types of muscle. Fast twitch Ann slow twitch. Fast twitch burns out fast, lesner. Slow twitch Diaz brothers.
Do I need to catch the grass on my centipede or not?
I would if you have a lot of debris and weeds. Otherwise, no need to bag.
YOU TALKED ALOT IN THE VIDEO ABOUT 8-1-8 BUT I DIDNT SEE ANY IN THE STORE?
I'm in California and my Augustine is doing terrible. I have runner over lapping non stop. What can I do?
We all have that . Its the nature of our turf. Your best bet is to mow every 3-4 days to tame it.
@@Thelawncarenut I live on the coast in Southern CA in Santa Barbara. What grass is a better option, St Augustine or Hybrid Bermuda like GN-1 Hybrid Bermuda? My Fescue does not look good and I want to replace it.
Should FL lawns follow dates instead of soil temps?
Yes we are mostly year round. I've been doing apps all winter .
@@Thelawncarenut I applied Bonus S Jan 3rd 2020. going for one more app Feb 26 since I missed Oct to Dec Application.
Didn’t get my 2020 guide
I did not get it either.
