@@scottboucher613 Scott no disrespect intended but I intentionally directed the question to Alan. My understanding is over application can make your ground too soft. The instructions on the label are very clear (And yes I have used AIR 8 in ACCORDANCE TO THE LABEL). Thank you for your input .
Alan about 3 years ago I was introduced to you and the lawn care community on YT. This year I am finding that your content, tips and organization of content by grass type is Excellent. It’s to the point and not extreme. Thank you. You provide everything that I need and I’ve already ordered product from your store.
I’m learning so much from you! I feel like I don’t need to view anybody else, which is great, with so much out there, the thought of needing to go here and there just spins my head! Your advice is just so clear. I absolutely love that I understand why I’m doing what I’m doing, not just being told to do this without explanation. Anyway, can hardly believe that something so good is actually free. You take a lot of the intimidation out of this, for sure. Thanks!
Allyn, thanks to your Dedication to the DIY’er’s, I have turn my yard completely around. You knowledge and Experience is impeccable. Keep it coming !!!
I built a putting green in my backyard. Did it the right way, hired a company for the construction. Its a sand based rootzone. Nearly 90% sand. TONS of benefits to the surface but also takes tons more maintenance. Ive been using root growth stimulants, inclusing RGS and it really helps the nutrition i put down get used appropriately. Cutting at .135" isnt easy to maintain but the growth stimulants have been a big help.
Out here in the Puget Sound area, we saw a very very early, very warm spell that brought the soil temps above 50 for a week or two back in late Jan, early Feb. Temps dropped after a bit, but it was enough to wake up the grass, germinate some weeds, and start the shrubs putting out a little growth. So now, as we get close to normal pre-emergent time, I'm getting ready to do pre- app and spot post- simultaneously. You aren't wrong - it's been a weird year.
You and I have the same "good" problem....I just want to educate every chance I get, and I sometimes think I get a bit wordy, too. But it is what it is and that's my method. I'd rather someone have more info than they think they need. The real gift is all in HOW it's done. Good stuff, señor Hane. 👌🏽
Man I love you...lol. You are the salt of the earth my man and have def taken the fear out of treating my own lawn. Thank you for all the info and advice....i'm officially a LCN now!
Thank you , perfect video. I am in Staten Island NY and starting my season March 11th . Pre-emergent , fert and bio-stimulate program. This was the exact lessons I needed to hear . I also have your cool season lawn care e-book . Thanks again .
Just ordered the bio pack. I’m re doing my back yard and currently pay for service in my front yard. Glad I found this video so that I can spray the front in addition to what they do. Took some stress off
Also if you are new to using that Ortho Dial N Spray, please watch LCN's video on calibrating the sprayer. I had all kinds of problems with mine. Turns out when I measured the flow rate, it was spraying out a 6 gallons per minute instead of the 2 gallons per minute that is labeled! I also had to pull down on that tubing several times where it attaches at the head piece, as shown by John Perry, as it kept clogging up. Hopefully this will improve over time, but if not, I'll get a another sprayer. I do like the simplicity and efficiency of this sprayer once you figure it out. 😎
Allyn, great job with the video! Lots of quality information that tied together well. You have high standards but don’t be so hard on yourself. Thanks for the tips! Really enjoyed it
Mr. LCN, last summer I bought a tank sprayer with broadcast application tips (never installed the wand), and its dope for Prodiamine, post weed control and the RGS/Humic12 applications. I'm in the transition zone and in early May applied bio-stimulants + granular (20-8-10) and the turf turned a deep green after a light rain and remained a good color all summer. Never had such success or a nice looking yard before. Also used biostimulants in my vegetable garden, had more food than we could manage (lol).
I spray my yard each weekend alternating with those four products. I fertilized myself and my yard looks way better than my neighbors who have companies.
Just bought my prodiamine from your shop. Little late, hope it gets here quick, soil temps are nearing 50 here in Rochester NY. Either way, $40 and free shipping, what a deal! Thanks brother, see you out in the lawn!
Allyn, I noticed what you mentioned on Milo.......HD has upped the ante on a 32LBS. bag to $18.98....True Value has kept it to $14.99 although I believe they were either 12.98 or 13.98 last year.
I’ve become addicted to spraying and praying. I like the idea of spraying every Saturday with different products. This weekend I’m spraying my first app of 18-0-1. I may hit it with 0-0-2 as well.

Hey Allyn, can you please do a video on using Hydro-seed to establish a new lawn? My son is building a new home and the landscaper is putting down Hydro-seed to start his lawn. How do you care for this and any other pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Your the greatest, LCN!
Im interested to see some videos on the pull behind sprayer. I have 1+ acres of grass and most of the youtube videos I find only talk about regular lawns (1/4 to 1/3 acre). Cost plays a BIG factor in larger lawns, so for me organic is out and have to buy in bulk.
Last year was my first year using the Bio-Stem. I couldnt' really tell a huge difference but now that spring is here my yard looks better than it ever has. I am gonna try to take the jump into some tenacity this year would love to see some updates on your approach with these types of products.
I’m in San Antonio, TX, where we’ve already been in the high 70’s & are scheduled to be in the low 80’s next week. I took a chance & did my pre emergent 2 weeks ago.....because it’s Texas so I’m sure we’ll be in the 90’s by EASTER 🙄🙄😩😩!! Praying I didn’t jump the gun but last week my Bermuda started getting some green in it so maybe my “early throw down” will be alright??

Always enjoy you spying the pro competition across the street through the lens gathering the latest Intel. That's top priority!...mike
Hey there Allyn! Love your channel and I’m hooked! Read your warm season book and guides. Just got the N-Ext bio stimulants delivered and can’t want to paint it black. But what about us folks over down by there in Miami. Where soil temps don’t go below 70, and if it does it’s a fluke. When should we throw down pre-emergents?
Oh man I’m breaking all the rules. 😂. No preM just aerated the snot out of my Bermuda lawn and I’m going to sand smooth it out light top dress and over seed with Arden15! Thanks LCN my lawn sucked before I saw your channel.
Oh no! I am going to use Scott's weed and feed here in the Carolinas! I must be an amatuer!? No seriously it has worked for me for 20 years! I have no weeds except by a drainage ditch in the back of my house nobody sees, but I use "Weed B Gone" to spot spray and occasionally Tenacity on it. I do use NEXT products! I will be putting down a fungicide today with my Chapin sprayer. Hopefully some RGS, humic, and micro green. My lawn is gorgeous.
Our yard is 50% weeds on one half and 50% centi on the other. Advice Q: Is it better for me to kill the weeds first or fert the grass first? Thanks to your video from your Israel trip, I've IDed most of our weeds! Lol. Thank you for sharing that.
Allyn, I own a vacant lot next to my home that I'm going to fence in with the rest of my backyard (I huge plot). My backyard turf is TTF and 95% under control. The lot has several turf types (fescue, zoysia and bluegrass) and of course several weeds. What's the best way to approach grooming the turf in the lot so that it catches up to my backyard turf ASAP? Smoke it, throw down prodiamine, re-seed with my TTF and Tenacity? Watering won't be a problem. I'm in Grandview, MO. Appreciate your help.
I'm in the same boat as you. I can't give you the best advice, as I am fairly new to this stuff myself, but I'll tell you what I did/am doing. Allyn has said in the past, if you have 30% grass, rehab it...don't burn down. I moved into a new home in July and purchased a vacant lot next to the house that was severely overgrown with weeds. And when I say severely...some were 4 foot tall. I weed waked down low and keep short that lot all summer. When fall came I aerated and seeded. When it was time to start mowing again, I kept it higher at the more recommend height of around 3.5-4. Now with this year coming up, I just going to follow the plan. I'll do the pre-emergent as stated, but realize that I will probably have to do some post emergent clean up to get some of the stronger weeds out that winter didn't kill off. I'm going to be using allot of the Bio-Stem pack and carbon earth lines. That lot hasn't had any love given to it...probably ever, so I imagine that it will come a good ways this year, but will take more than this one year to get it caught up to my "house lawn." Rome wasn't built in a day and either will that mess I bought..lol. I'm over in Hannibal MO, so am in the same time area as you. Hope this helps a little.
LOL...this is so true about the endorphins from spraying. I found that last year I was spraying something every week. Its addictive once the grass starts going green!!
Morning Al! In northern Illinois, not warm enough to throw pre-m yet, but I'm sure it will be in 2-3 weeks. This year I decided to go with Scotts Halts. For me, it is readily availible and not expensive. I am also getting into Bio-stimulants this year. I'm ordering a sprayers plus FH25E and a custom bio-stim package. Let's hope for the best!
Hey Allyn. Your lawns have been remarkably level and your trees are very neatly cordoned off and separate. My new house has four medium sized cherry trees with extensive surface level roots, and the trunks are surrounded by mulch volcano's which I'm working on removing. What do you recommend for uneven ground with surface roots around the trees? Should I expand the diameter of mulch around the trees or add lawn soil to try to build up the grass level above the roots?
Good Morning Allyn. Thank you from Algonquin, Il. Not trowin' down the pre M just yet. Will be cleanin' up, mowin', sprayin' da Air8. By Da Way Bruh, please keep up the over-thinkin' thing. Love it Edit: Sir, you mention using a pump sprayer to put the bio stimulants down. Can you point me somewhere to learn how to use a 1 gallon pump sprayer with these bio-stims? Thank you Nevermind I found it
Did you say or did I miss? Pre-emergent should be applied when Avg soil temp reaches 50? Is that the same with lawn fert and amendments? Anyone? Post scrpit... love the channel!
Hey Allyn: I did a total renovation last September, complete with a glyphosate 44 kill of the old lawn. New TTTF seed with Scott's starter fert with mesotrione. I'm north of Des Moines Iowa about 50 miles and despite all the rain and lack of sun we had it grew in nicely. My question is about a pre emergent this spring, I'm concerned about a lack of root structure that won't be able withstand another round of the same Scott's starter fert. What do you think? I really appreciate your videos just the way they are, I just have to watch them several times to catch it all. Don't change a thing. PS, Soil temps up here were 38 yesterday but likely to go up significantly this week
In general, we consider seeded TTT to be established enough for treatments if it has been mowed twice. If it made it through winter and starts to green up on its own, then I'd say you will be fine, so feel free to thrower down. Keep in mind, all lawns have some die-back after winter so don't be alarmed if some of yours looks ugly at first.
Hey Alan, Moved into a new house in the fall here in Indiana and as the snow is melting I’m seeing an alarming amount of light green moss throughout this lawn. I got a soil test and the PH is 6.3 on average. Do I just need to raise the PH and dethatch to get rid of this moss? If there is a video on moss I’m not seeing it. And all of my searches are resulting in quick fixes, I would prefer to fix the underlying problem. Thanks in advance for any advice! Really enjoy all of your content.
Thanks Again for all your work Allyn know it is appreciated. Okay here is my question... when is the window for disease-Ex for Northern grasses????? I always see it at L & HD and wonder when is the time to put this down???? 2nd question on first pre-emerg. app if you put down fert. with it......can a lawn food be a sub if it is 32-0-10???? or does it have to be fert....??? I put down a 32-0-10 lawn food last fall per the LCN!!!!!! Bah hiaaaaaa Grassss!!!!!!!!!!
I would get RGS. That's the staple product of the line. However, we only sell the products in 4 and 5 gallon packs so you may be better off just getting all 4 anyway.
Thanks for all the info! Just received my first ever shipment if the bio-stimulant pack and I'm excited to try it out. Im really new at this so forgive me if this has been answered already. My lawn here in Kentucky is completely over run by crabgrass and corn speedwell. Im wondering if im just going to be simulating the weed growth if i don't take care of it first. I was planning on doing a pre-emergent along with the bio pack, but will this be a mistake? Thanks 👍
I threw down some southern weed n feed for St. Augustine a couple of weeks ago when we were transitioning to 65F soil temps in San Antonio, TX. Does it make sense to still apply a pre-emergent or has that ship sailed? I'm a new home owner and my lawn looks like it hasn't been cared for in years. Thank you for helping me!
In Canada it seems impossible to get most of the products you mention in your videos. In southern Saskatchewan I can only seem to Find 2 pre emergent products in which one is a Scott’s product and the other seems to be related. Both recommend not using a fertilizer with nitrogen if using these. And here I wanted to really hit my dormant winter Kentucky blue grass with high nitrogen to get it going. I’m a little confused as it seems to finally be the right temp to get something on the ground.

He thinks he gets carried away with his metaphors, but that's his entire channel. Nearly every video he makes he gives you information on a highly accessible and relatable way.
Your neighbors have declared war against you! Another GOAT, besides LCN, also lives by the motto "trust the process" and overall it's worked well for all involved. RTR
Great job as always.
Almost time for the tuna can challenge, and dial in that irrigation coming out of winter.
Just discovered your channel and am loving every video. Great job Allyn.
Great video as usual. Love the bloopers in there as well.
Sounds good bro, thank you! If you still have bio-stimulants left, hammer in that Air8 and Humic12 here early - it will set you up for a good spring.
Love the Doors reference. One of my favorite bands.
mine too!
My bermuda is full green in La Vernia. I did pre m in january.
You're good, San Antonio is not far off from North Florida weather wise.
Like trying to get 10lbs of info in a 5lbs bag. You did just fine. Keep it simple and don't over think it. March/April window is a busy time for lawn maintenance and there's plenty info to get out there. Always enjoy you spying the pro competition across the street through the lens gathering the latest Intel. That's top priority!...mike
Awesome info and awesome videos I also over read everything I do to and make it harder on my self
Wow, good stuff! I'm in with your channel with this great content!
Thanks for info. I’ve read mixed reviews on corn gluten on various state agricultural extension websites.
17:15 Thanks for making me spit out my coffee Hane! LMAO
You will never live it down 😂
owned. Hilarious.
Absolute great info who does this for a living to the DYI person.
Been a darn flood in Georgia lately and it’s 33 degrees . I have not put down anything yet but weed killer
Send that rain down I-75, please. Like a desert down here.
"Wederberl" was my old Dachshund's nickname.
Good content as usual. Thanks for what you do for the diy guys.
👊🤘
Hey there Allyn!
Love your channel and I’m hooked! Read your warm season book and guides. Just got the N-Ext bio stimulants delivered and can’t want to paint it black.
But what about us folks over down by there in Miami. Where soil temps don’t go below 70, and if it does it’s a fluke. When should we throw down pre-emergents?
Please review a Cub Cadet push mower! Love all your videos!
I appreciate the details, great vid! 🤘🏽
Got my endorphin rush from the video lol. I have backpack and hose end. For me the hose end is way easier to spray and pray. THROWER/SPRAYER DOWN
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lots of good information... thanks Allyn
Thanks bro 👊
LOL...this is so true about the endorphins from spraying. I found that last year I was spraying something every week. Its addictive once the grass starts going green!!
I don't got 24 minutes to watch. 7 minutes each day is better
I don't have time to edit it down to 7min so I guess we are out of luck 😂
I was able to achieve a deep green turf when home depot had a sale on spray paint
That works too🤘
Love it
Edit: Sir, you mention using a pump sprayer to put the bio stimulants down. Can you point me somewhere to learn how to use a 1 gallon pump sprayer with these bio-stims?
Thank you
Nevermind I found it
Always informative Allyn-great job!
Did you say or did I miss? Pre-emergent should be applied when Avg soil temp reaches 50? Is that the same with lawn fert and amendments? Anyone? Post scrpit... love the channel!
The video came out nicely, thank you for all the information!
Thanks bro! 👊
Thanks for the large lawn content.
lots more coming!
Turned on our irrigation water today. Can we talk water here soon. I had a really bad problem with water last year.
Any preference to the sequence of which product first, second, third?
He Allyn, if you had budget to get only one Bio-Stimulant product which one would you pick? I'm in Midwest with sissy grass.
In southern Saskatchewan I can only seem to
Find 2 pre emergent products in which one is a Scott’s product and the other seems to be related. Both recommend not using a fertilizer with nitrogen if using these. And here I wanted to really hit my dormant winter Kentucky blue grass with high nitrogen to get it going. I’m a little confused as it seems to finally be the right temp to get something on the ground.
I love the longer vids 👌🏾
