I’ve used the one foot back in my rehearsal swing prior to squaring up and actually hitting just to get the feel. It’s amazing the difference it made.

I took a couple of lessons from Rick Smith over 35 years ago, he is exceptional at analyzing someone’s swing and correcting a couple of things that will help everything. Unfortunately over the years I can’t swing hit the way I did back then ….but he is really good. I stood on the driving range at the Honda and watched Rocco hit ball after ball with a 7 iron perfect draw and it was obvious he had his right foot back on every shot. I’ve watched him on TV and he does the same thing, it looks effortless.

That’s amazing, why didn’t I know this before? I already pull my right foot back just a little when driving and my drives are very straight or a small draw. But my irons are weak and small fades. Tried this and immediately got much better contact, compression and distance. And I didn’t hit the ball far left as it felt like I might. This immediately added 20 yards to my eight iron. Thanks so much, I’ll definitely work on this.

I’ve watched Eric do this a couple times on videos. I had a head on collision and broke my neck. I do not move our twist well .back foot back has made me hit straight. Drives again without a slice before accident 260-270 now it 76 in a year into the accident. I’m back to 230 straight drives great video.

I've only ever tried one gimmicky drill: left heel off the ground at address, which was an old Henry Cotton drill that Gary Player recommended. I was only doing it because I had a terrible left rib problem and was trying to take the strain off my left side. Really, i shouldn't have been practising. Needed an operation to have the rib removed. Anyway, David leadbetters old coach: Terry westbrook, suddenly pitched up behind me. He was pitching for a job with the national team and was with the boss of the team, who assumed the drill that I was doing was my actual method and considered me to be a good guinea pig to test terry out as a coach. Anyway he taught me the takeaway open sandwiches method: right palm facing the sky, half way back, which wasn't good. But, irony of all ironies I have actually incorporated it into my left hand extensor extension swing drill, in which I hold the club out to the left with my left hand; and, then press my left hand in front of the clubhead. This actually sets the club into motion, on its arc. I then put my right hand on the club as I swing back. But, I turn my right hand up to the sky as i swing my right arm back, to place my hand on the club. Obviously, my right palm isn't facing up to the sky when I place it on the club. The hand actually bounces back it into position, but in a deeper position. And, the deeper you swing back the more space you have in the downswing. But, I do think that it is a big mistake to actually try to approach the ball from the inside, in the trans- just as it is a big fault to try to swing around from the top. So this is the swing exercise, you need to do: when you get to the top of your backswing keep pushing back with your left wrist joint. This will increase the cupping of your left wrist and it will actually help to fuse your hands together. The left hand, in effect, will be pressing against your right hand. This will then enable you to start your downswing by pressing the index finger side of your left hand towards the thumb pad of your right hand.

Arms down is that a pulling down of the arms to start or are you shifting to left first and allowing the arms to drop down on the inside

Really want to focus on the second part if you're hitting fat (the getting the right shoulder forward)....that will move your low point back to forward while still swinging from inside

Either still an out to in swing path (steep) or an open club face at impact,
most likely the first option if you sometimes hit straight pulls

Apple cut into 1000 slices is still 1 apple. Modern instruction is similar with more looks from.high speed video but the fundamentals remain the same
Old school guys like Rick keep it simple. Now we call it rotation and side bend and in the 90s and before they called it clearing the hips.

I Really dont agree with this approach. The golf club is supposed to be parallel from the start and not from the inside. Watch the movement that Justin Tomas makes before hitting with his iron. I find that the suggested movement complicates the swing.
