    I've been using the Ballard back swing triangle connection teaching method with what "feels" like a flat level in balance finish with 90% of your weight in on the ball of your foot being able to pick the right foot up effortlessly. I was teaching this about 10 years before my combination of his and martial arts philosophies became mainstream. The LPGA girls picked it up faster than the men because their miss-hits went straighter (key) the ball went further,( because they weren't coming up and out of the swing trying to swing "down the line" as they say), and it was repeatable & easier on the back. I just wanted to give Jimmy credit for using his name in my teachings for 26 years. The video with Rocco was great BTW

    " Keep your elbow down during the entire swing" One good swing thought. Make sure both elbows are pointing at their perspective hips. To do the correct set up imagine you are curling Dumbbells; straiten your forearms and you have you arms set up correctly.

    I used this method the last time I golfed and tied my best score of the season. My driver went farther and produced low trajectory ball flights with a lot of backspin and the ball got small quicker which means I got more carry due to a higher ball speed with more backspin, so the extra backspin caused the low shot to float over the fairway. This method also allowed my to hit low wedges with a ton of backspin and really compressed the ball on the clubface, which means no more golf balls sliding up the clubface. I will need to play a few more rounds of golf to understand this method more completely, but so far it passes the sniff test.

    Connected Swing. Yes Rocco has almost a connected swing. The two PGA pros who I think have the connected swing are: Jason Dufner and Louis Ostisen (spelling?).
    For several years, I studied the Jimmy Ballard connection swing but the arm pit connection did not really provide the connection to the club from the start and end of the swing. I had to create the connection to the golf club.
    Imagery String. I connected the golf club to my body with an imagery string (the body connector is the golfer most sensitive part to maintain the string tension). I maintained the string distance and tautness from the start and end of the swing. It corrected the over back swinging, square at impact, over hip rotating on the downswing.... and so on.
    Return from vacation. Many times we suffer from being away from golf and it takes so much time to get back to golf form. With the connected swing, I was able to return to golf form almost immediate.
    Try it, have fun, enjoy golf and good luck..... Ed

    If you want to learn to swing with accuracy, consistency, and more power than you likely ever experienced, listen to Jimmy Ballard. Listen to the simplicity of that left arm move that he talks about here. The simplicity of motion enables you to put all your energy into the bottom of the swing where you hit the ball, with total confidence of a square, center hit.
    I don't agree with allowing the elbows to bend at the end of the upswing. I think resisting that pull of the club momentum keys the muscles for change of direction better. I see no increase in power by doing so, and it seems to inhibit the incredible accuracy gained by keeping that left arm connected and elbow down (hard to learn for a past "arm lifter").
    Great job though Jimmy and Rocco. It is so refreshing today to see someone actually teach how to swing in the simplest of terms. I would love for Tiger to pay you a visit Jimmy.

JIMMY SAYS IT IS NOT A SWAY ; HOWEVER IT HELPS ME TO THINK OF IT AS A SWING THAT KEYS ON LATERAL SHIFTS AWAY FROM THE TARGET AND THEN TOWARDS THE TARGET , THIS KEY IS TO MAKE THE TEMPO SLOW AND SMOOTH WITH A SLOW SMOOTH TEANSITION BETWEEN BACK AND THROUGH . PRODUCES STRAIGHT PENETRATING SHOTS THAT ARE VERY EASY ON THE BODY.

    Arms play a big role than lower body in golf swing. People don’t know. Your right arm creates a power and left arm is for accuracy to square the club face. Once u bring club with left arm to the ball, use right arm to hit ball through the ball to target.

  • @normankleinberg5525

    Interesting at about the 6:00 - 6:30 mark Rocco explains how the club is "light" when the shaft is upright and "heavy", dragging the head down, when it's flat and behind you. Sounds a lot like Mike Malaska and trying to make the momentum of the club head work for you. Face it, if you just want to get around a course and play decently to well you can use this or any number of other swings. Whether this method can be used on Tour at all, much less win on Tour, is a separate question of interest to only a certain subset of golfers. As someone who would kill to be able to say I'm a 10-15 handicap, I'll try it.

    • @Thegooob95
      @Thegooob95 3 роки тому +1

      Andrew Chapman you’re not actually taller at impact. You’re taller at the follow through, but what comes before the follow through? Impact. You feel taller at impact but that’s only because a millisecond after impact, you’re actually taller. It’s an entire motion, gotta keep that in mind when flipping between the feel of the swing, and looking at the swing frame by frame and trying to translate it literally into a motion.

    • @andrewchapman5659
      @andrewchapman5659 3 роки тому

      @@Thegooob95 Lol yeah ok absolutely not. Keep spinning

    • @Thegooob95
      @Thegooob95 3 роки тому +1

      Andrew Chapman every action has an opposite and equal reaction. Force must be down into the ground at the top of the backswing, when the club goes down the feet go up, basically.
      If the arc of the swing is set at the takeaway, the bottom point of the arc is the ball. In order to apply the most speed at the bottom of the arc there inevitably must be an opposite reaction, which is the club comes down and the body pushes up correctly against that momentum going down. If the club and body go down at impact as a feeling, you’d just melt into the ground lol. On slow motion the body is still down at impact and tall at follow through, only milliseconds separate impact and follow through, so the feeling of getting taller at impact is totally fine as a feeling or suggestion.
      I’m not spinning lol, if you don’t agree tell me why.

  • @fly1327

    I'm really good at copying physical motion, playing golf over decades with several styles, Trevino, Nicklaus, Moe Norman, Ballard and others. All resulted with the best rounds in the 70's, my apparent genetic potential. I will say Ballard's approach was easiest on my lower back (2 herniated discs) as well as capable of great accuracy with irons. Lack of distance with that backswing? Nope, not at all. I know this method now in the dustbin of instruction, but if you're older, it can be scary accurate, just as long and definitely easier on your body. Just my experience.

      they most certainly are. i worked with jimmy for years at ocean reef. went down as a 7. left a scratch. came back north and would routinely hit every fairway in a competitive round. Elbows down and three right arms and maintain radius were my only swing thoughts. years of a golf glove under my left arm pit works. period. only struggle is the hips do like to start the downswing. Needs to be the right toe and work up, towards the ball and then down target line. arms are along for the ride and you can swing them as fast as you want. notice rocco mentioned that a few times. speed is not a problem if you are connected. fast or slow.

    You lose all credibility when the video of Hogan shows the opposite.

    • @Thegooob95
      @Thegooob95 3 роки тому

      Hogan’s video doesn’t show the opposite, it affirms what they said, you have to be up to hit down. Let’s assume all the angles are correct in the swing to facilitate swinging this weight around the body in a circle, well by the time you get to impact there’s a lot of momentum that got you there, the body needs to stand up against that natural momentum to offset it and slingshot/catapult the club through the ball. The swing is a motion, that’s really important to remember when analyzing frame by frame. Frame by frame shows the actual positions but leaves out the feeling of the motion, and certainly leaves out the subconscious actions you’re body does like standing up or getting taller at impact because that’s a feeling. Pros swing over a hundred mph, so standing at impact actually translates to maximizing the momentum of the club around the body,. In other words, the effect of getting taller at impact is the follow through. They don’t contradict, feel vs real vs concepts do contradict.

    Jimmy Ballard refers a great deal to how great Hogan swing was and yet he teaches nothing like Ben Hogan actually did in his golf swing. Unlike what Jimmy says; Hogan kept both elbows pointing to their perspective hips. Hogan also employed his right arm by rotating it to the right on the upswing which forced his back to the target that gave him a flatter swing plain. Jimmy Ballard disagrees with this saying that anyone who uses a flat upper swing plain and has the feeling the club head is rapped around the body; makes it impossible for him or her to do a downswing. Well Hogan did not see it that way.. Hogan writes: " the turning of the hips inaugurates the downswing. This movement of the hips automatically lowers the arms and hand to a position just above hip level" Hogan further write: "By turning his hips first the golfer suddenly becomes aware of his tremendous stored up power" If it is good enough for Ben Hogan. It is good for me.

Guys on tour LAUNCH the ball...you can not hit the ball long with that move. That is not a coil, it absolutely is a slide and slides create a weak move. This guys method has gone the way of the dinosaur.

      +Bryan Gould Matt Kutcher changed to this type of 'connected' swing. When is he ever not in the top ten?

      +Klistern2 what people fail to realize is all the top players are connected. This is not a new concept. Matt Kuchar's swing is nothing like the Jimmy Ballard method at all. Yes he's connected but so is everyone else. Where Ballard is completely off is his method of elbow position and that horrible slide into the right side. Those are weak positions in a golf swing and are old methods being hung on to by an old teacher. The best teachers are always trying to get better and learn. Ballard has stuck with his same old out dated style of teaching and it shows as he has no top players in his stable and hasn't for a while. Rocco gets hot for a week or two and all of a sudden here's Ballard selling swing aids and doing the Golf Channel. Rocco hasn't done anything and guess what? Jimmy's gone again.

      And last I checked WE were not Tour players. I learned 20 years ago how to swing like this. I was 23 and was like "eh, pros don't use this swing." I then spent the next 17 years (on and off because we had 3 kids and time was a factor) trying to swing like a "Pro". I finally decided to go back to this method and my roots. Now I break 90 on a consistent basis and my GIR % is up 20% from where it was. And I barely have time to practice. And my back doesn't kill me anymore. It's a fantastic method for the weekend player.

      +Dave Baker well good for you and the fact that you "can break 90". I'd have you breaking 80 in 6 months.

    didn't sound solid to me... sounded like he slapped at the ball. pros crush the ball making a smacking sound i thought. worst through impact. watch lee trevino forget this shit.

    Where is the "connection" in the whole movement? There is a lack of logic. All reminds me of the Emporer's new clothes, lot of words without direction.
    Jimmy would have ruined Ben Hogan if he had taught.
    Rocco mediate is making a classic amateur early release, that is why he looks like an amateur.Most higher handicaps do not need to learn how to release early Jimmy, they do it already.

      I've seen Jimmy Ballard teach this in person when I was an 18 year old young man back in the day, and I worked at Tustin Ranch Golf Club. The pros there taught the Jimmy Ballard "connection". The swing is great for ball striking with your irons, however, I found that I had lost some distance - but gained more accuracy - with my driver as I was slightly past parallel prior to that. It does take pressure of your lower back. Imagine throwing a football. That was always the image they preached. There are several different ways to make a move on a golf ball. Use what's best for your body.

      Hahaha rocca is not early releasing, i play very good golf using much of these methods, they're not really his, this teaching goes back to the 30s but he has shined a light on this so we will call it jb teachings. Its a great way to swing a club and very powerful and in the middle of the fairway. Also it is easy on the spine.
