I'm a slicer myself, not using any pro teacher advise i figured this out over time it was my hands not turning over leaving the club face wide open. Hank's drills and explanations as to why things happen is legendary. Wish I knew this or went to someone a lot sooner. Great video.

Hank, this video is the best! I'm not a consistent slicer. Mine are mostly straight to baby draws. But, I lacked consistency and would generally leave the Big Dog in the bag in favor of a 4 wood off the tee. I practiced your drills consistently and now play driver much better. From a 91 to 85 in a week. I'll take that!!

Best video I’ve ever seen on slicing. Been out the last couple of days once at the range and once on the course. It’s changed my concept completely and im no longer slicing anything. If anything my mis hits are all bad hooks and that is only happening because i didn’t swing to the right fielder or had too tight a grip. Everything that I struggled with was fixed in this lesson! I can’t thank you enough for me changing my thinking about the swing! Now instead of baby fades with no power going 180 I’m ripping power drives with thunder contact going 225 dead straight. I got a few that went 245 but I’m sure the distance will improve with time and practice.

Hank, couldn't you shut his stance 30 degrees, to instantly correct his NATURAL 30 degree slice path. Then, it would be just the correcting of face. You'd be halfway there instantly, no learning of new, (and unnatural for this player) swing path. You saw how EASILY he reverted to his natural swing path at the end. Not to mention, how his path would be on the first tee at his club with people watching... Appreciate all you do and your dedication to the game....

Is this a trick to hit straight? Is the strong grip over exaggerated to the point it’s covering up poor wrists or swing motion? Or is this the correct way to hold the club? I was taught the “correct grip” and swing but I slice for one or a combination of various reasons. It’s why I haven’t golfed in 17 years. I couldn’t take it anymore. At 50 I’m now ready to dedicate my self to listen and learn. But I want to know what’s correct. Is this swing correct and will transfer to irons? Or is that a whole different grip? I always hit my irons straight. Just not my driver. Woods are usually straight. It’s off the tee I have a slice. If it’s all good I can hit 275-300. But it’s rare it’s straight. 1 out of 10.

It's clear in his 40 years of golf he has never thought about his grip or swing direction. Gets shown a stronger grip and every time he goes back to his weak grip. Good lesson but I don't think it's going to stick. He was already swinging left by the end, he's going to be slicing it the same way the next time he goes to the course.

  • @rorygillmore6555

Lets just remember that no one really sees where the balls go do they? All I see is a green line... 😂
I've met and seen a lot of people that have that weird loop to their swing all the time. They have great shot shape but to make contact as a recreational golfer that doesn't practice much, they swing way too slow to even bother keeping a driver in the bag. Other people have told me yeah, I got rid of the slice but now I either hit it straight or pull it, but at least it the shape is straight...
And thats what I experienced, sure I can hit some bullet straight 280s but then I hit it 50 yards to the right and then once I lose a shot pulling it, it gets into my head that I'm overdoing the method, then I'm right back to slicing it.. 😂

There's no way this Guy's been 'playing' for 40 years and still be swinging this badly with all the free information that is available on the internet.
More likely he's been going out a several of times a year with his Buddies to the golf course for a laugh for the past 40 years.
If he was even remotely serious he would have been taking advantage of the similar advice offered from the many thousands of UA-cam videos that deal with fixing the slice that have been available since UA-cam started..

That swing was so bad that a 19 handicap could have gave him tips.
