How To Hit the Ball Then The Turf With Your Irons - Magic Drill

  • How to hit the golf ball first. This video shows you how to make solid contact with the ball so that you can strike the ball then the turf. With one easy swing drill learn how to achieve a professional looking impact position no matter your age or ability.
None of us can swing like Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka or Rory McIlroy but we can learn to feel something similar at impact.
The easy swing drill reveals how golfers can naturally move their bodies to create ball first contact.
If you find that you strike the ground behind the ball or tend to feel a weak contact with your golf shots the easy swing drill will really help.

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On UA-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

5:08 on video! That is what I always thought that you had to swing ‘down the line’ instead of throwing the club!!! Thank you for that very important point, completely makes sense now and hopefully helps me maintain my balance. You are one of the best instructor out there. Thank you Danny!

Danny, I am 57 years old and haven't played in many years so I am pretty much a new player. I embarressed myself on the course a few weeks ago. couldn't hit any club at all. I have watched your driving videos and now have that worked out. I was just out on the driving range practicing the drills in this video and wow! what a complete turn around. Thank you so much for these videos and especially for the easy and basic way you explain the golf swings. They make so much sense to me and now I feel that I can at least go out on the course and not make a fool of myself. Thank you, thank you. Peter F. Fort Myers Florida

What I love about Danny is how all the videos are really connected to one another. Once you understand his basic philosophy you can almost predict what he is going to say. So each video builds on the next one. You simplify the swing as much as anyone and the result is simply trying to remember one feeing or two which is a lot easier than 10 positions. Just love your videos and at 71 I am now hitting drives consistently between 265-285 by simply throwing the clubhead and maintaining posture and alignment. My irons are getting better based on the dot idea but I will return to the right leg back drill to help me stay over the ball.

Like everything Danny does, its a simple explanation, not filling the head with tens of issues you must address before and during the swing. For me, Danny is the only teaching pro I watch, because of the simple terms he uses and to maxamise effect, he concentrates on just 2 or 3 issues at one time. Keep up the great work Danny.

Danny - Another great training session. Could you expand on the concept of the handle moving toward the body and throwing the club out to ball? Absolutely love when I find that feeling in my short game and on full swings. Any additional drills you could share would be greatly appreciated!

Really enjoyed this. Used it during practice today, already focusing on hitting the ball first. It worked well on full shots but needs practice. Love the hands getting closer to the body. This will be amazing. I found massive gains in strike during chipping & pitching by keeping aligned. Thanks man! I'm 13.2 and I think I might come down 2 shots with these thought processes.

Danny-I watched this when U put it out but didn’t have the chance to play until today. I’ve struggled this year with thinning my irons. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Not touched a club in over a month and had one of the best ball-striking rounds of the season! Since I was playing, I just imagined a tee in front of ball to help me hit and stay down on irons. I flushed multiple shots which not done in a long time. THANK YOU again and keep putting out the great content! Brian

Danny, you have been kind enough to respond to two of my inquiries, and I want to return your kindness.
I realized (as a 70 y/o beginner) that I wasn’t swinging correctly because I couldn’t balance myself on my left (lead) leg. So I spent over two months every day just standing on that leg.
Then -gradually- I would turn my hips. Then after the two months, I practiced leaning with my hip to the left and shoulders otherwise- all standing on my lead leg.
It’s not a quick fix, but now I’m comfortable making the necessary weight shift. I have “lag”, and my 7 iron has gone from 125 yds to 155 or more. I finish upright and facing well towards the flag.
I’m hoping you can improve this self-made drill, because my problem all along turned out to be balancing on my lead side as a beginner.
God bless you. Your videos helped get me started at a time in life when I hear most golfers ate hanging it up. I’m

Another amazing video! The one legged drill has been a huge help, but it was the last little bit about throwing the club out that helped me diagnose the terrible error I was making: my grip had migrated to something less than optimal and I was restricting my ability to throw the club out! I love your thesis that the body does highly intelligent things to compensate for errors earlier in the swing, it has been the best algorithmic tool for working on my game that I have ever received!

Who would have thought you could cure a propensity to shank with the advice - “throw the club on an arc”. I kid you not - thank you. I never thought I’d see the day when I could swing at a golf ball with an iron and not fear the hosel getting involved. I played my irons great today. Didn’t work so well with the driver so after my round today I headed to the practice area having watched your video “hit your driver further - no matter your age or ability”. Now appreciate the difference between a driver swing release (the strong stable motion) and the iron release. You should set up a donation account. Thanks again.

I don't normally write but after today's practice round I was left amazed and gob smacked walking away with +3 after 9 hole and I play off 20!
I've never really had trouble with my balance I've always felt that to be good. However, I was also of the same mind that the club went forward, until I discovered this and realised about keeping the butt close to the body as well as discovering throwing the club and 'casting'. I also took your advice from "How to Nail your backswing Takeaway" video and all together today I hit some of the best shots and approaches I have ever hit. From chipping to pitching and even out of sand this all worked and applied.
Thank you so much, your a great teacher.

Danny, this was an amazing lesson! This has been my exact issue but I couldn't figure out how to quit doing it. The way you walked through it step by step was fantastic!
After bad shots in the past I used to tell myself "don't throw the club"...and now as I line up to the ball I tell myself "remember to throw the club" and it saves me a ton of $$!
    You're the best!

I love that dot visual. Used it in my round today and ball striking improved alot. Used to get a fair share of fat shots before. Great stuff. Probably the one golf video that's going to help me more than any other.
And that feet back drill I was taught that when I started playing and somehow stopped. Thanks for reminding me. It's probably one of the most useful drills for balance.

Every now and then a golfer will see a tip from a teacher and something will click in his head because the tip made so much sense. This is one of those tips for me. I played my first round today since watching the video and I dropped 15 strokes off my previous round...and it could have been 20 if my chipping had cooperated. My ball striking today was better than it has been in a very long time. I used to be a mid-to-high 80's golfer but lost my mojo some years ago. I've tried everything over the years to fix it and all I did was over complicate my swing. This drill does a great job of reinforcing balance, ball position and tempo...at least that's what I took from it. Thanks Danny! You've made the game fun again.
