- While I am really enjoying the Fenix A320, there are a quite a few features and options I greatly miss not having that are available in the FlyByWire A320 Neo.

One feature I truly miss when flying the Fenix is the ability to have the MCDU on an external device and bit surprised you did not mention it as that is a killer feature.
Totally agree with you on this, having the MCDU on an external device makes so much sense.

100% this!!! Sorely need an external MCDU option for my tablet! Considered buying a hardware version, but don’t want to spend $800+ for something that can be handled by my iPad. I have the AviaWorx FMC for the PMDG 737 and absolutely love it!!!

The soundpack on the FBW is just outstanding and one of the main reasons I keep flying it just as much as the Fenix. Love the ambient cabin sounds and I often wish these were available in the Fenix since the cabin views are just so much better.
true. fenix is a little weak in the cabin sounds. but i heard they are working on a big sound update, so i think it will get better
and the possibility to use external hardware like MCDU or EFIS/FCU.
Fenix has irs instant align, it’s in the mcdu.
cpdlc is modelled in fenix since initial release and works very well btw

Don't forget the great feature that fly by wire has and is the possibility to print out in real paper the metar information when you ask for printing directly from the option in the MCDU and also the software that allow the management on an external device. I use it all the time and works perfect in the fbw a 320 neo. Best regards
You can go into the failures page of the fenix a320 and enable each IRS.
The one benefit to the preliminary loadsheet message is getting the estimated CG so you don't have to wait for the plane to be loaded

You missed his point with the company messages part. The entire of point of what he was saying is that he doesn’t want the company messages there at all lol. It’s something not integrated into fbw, therefore in his opinion better… because then he doesn’t have to read them to clear them.

Another mention might be actual fly by wire... Ex: rotate logic on the Neo is a bit different than the CEO, and you can feel it in takeoff. Landing the Neo is easier too. That being said, a few of the points mentioned to the Fenix are changing in the next patch. Audio is a HUGE deal for me, and I also love FBW for this, especially with cabin crew sounds
I love the Fenix but the biggest con for me is being unable to access it's sim numeric variable values (eg. FCU/AP numeric values). I am slowly building DIY panels and things like SPD, ALT, VS, HDG and some other button/switch states aren't available from the Fenix unless you have some hacks to go about it. I know, it has something to do with their licensing with ProSim, prohibiting the use of the Fenix in home-made cockpits. With FBWA320, everything is accessible so I can have these values displayed on a device.
The fenix does have instant IRS alignment, non functioning IRS system is considered as a failure in the fenix so you can just go to the failures tab and disable the failure to get it aligned instantly
Fair, but that's not really a feature. Or something I want to go through doing. Moreover, lots of planes have instant align. I'm sure it will come to Fenix.

I get it. I prefer Fenix way over FBW because for me the most important thing is to replicate reality as much as possible.
I concur the sounds are better in the FBW A320. It’s very noticeable.
CPDLC is in fenix too and it’s used all over Europe

In addition, I much prefer the exterior lighting on the FBX 32NX compared to the rather anemic lights, especially the strobes, of the Fenix A320. There is a mod (for a payware product) which supposedly fixes this but it doesn't work for me.
Try listening to gear retraction/extension from cabin in the FBW. Hydraulics and PTU are all fully modeled ;)
But you don’t hear the PTU in the cockpit.

there is an option to do instant IRS align in the fenix, albeit not as straightforward as we are usually used to. to instantly align the IRS in the fenix, go to the MCDU menu, failures, and clear the 3 IRS failures (these show while waiting for align) and you will have instant alignment. enjoy
or just turn all switches to nav, then to off and immediately back to nav. it gives an instant align, while in the real a320 that would be a fast (3min) align

I was surprised when there wasn't a "Fast Align" setting in the Fenix EFB. Pretty standard on most add-on aircraft and it doesn't seem like it should be difficult to implement. Hopefully it'll be included with a future update. aVerRrRrY NnNicCEee!

are you using WIN11 or WIN10? I always encounter CTD when FENIX A320 is loaded using WIN11...thanks in advance for the feedback.
As an airline pilot one feature that I would like to see in the Fenix to be perfect, is to be able to save the cockpit state. In the part of the FBW A320 I like it very much, but some stuff, like the ECAM, buttons, don't work, it has little functions.
I've always flown with the FBW but I started to have a lot of stutters, which is not happening with me on the FENIX. Now I'm loving fenix and the sound inside the plane is more real than FBW. it's my opinion.
THe problem with the Fenix soundpack is the volume. Apart from that, the soundpacks are SUPPOSED to sound different because the ENGINES arent the same. Fenix sounds are class, just too low.
yes the volumes but also the engine whine sound 40-70% is too much like a whistle in Fenix and too metallic. Actual A320 is more like a "dry screaming" sound

well the NEO has a *lot* of changed systems, it's not just the engines. with the FBW already existing they probably won't do one

Airframe is also a bit different , even if there are CEOs with the newer wing boxes as well , but i rather have a decent a321 (CEO or neo for me doesn't matter so much but why not neo then ) than another 320neo , fbw will improve more giving them time so there is already our neo with like same Standard when Fenix could release one imo
I hope they do not do the Neo, rather a different plane (ish) go for the A321 or A321LR/XLR instead due to my love for FBW as a company and what its doing. Would rather they dont step on each other's toes
1:42 instead of complaining, as soon as you start the AC just set the irs to nav. That way by the time you have filled out you flp it will have aligned for you to preview you fp
I'm curious what you think is better in the FBW Simbrief integration compared to the Fenix. As far as I'm aware they both can pull in the exact same data although slightly different (you load PAX in the MCDU in the FBW and in the EFB in the Fenix if I recall correctly).
The FBW fills in more of the info in the INIT screen than Fenix
The Fenix does it more similar to the real aircraft

With the fenix fps keep in mind that the cabin is fully modelled and the FBWs is not
I also like that FBW has put a working printer in the plane, I know it is a silly feature like the coffee cups, but when I fly in msfs it is all about emersion, and the more things that work even if just simulated in the plane the more emersion you can have in a plane. The Fenix has all this realistic background stuff that you never see while youre flying which add little to the emersion, I think it needs more emersion stuff. This is why I love the Kodiak, and the C310r, in the end Flightsimming in my book is more about pretending to be a pilot then how accurate the flight model is or if the checks of the systems in case of a problem is working in the background. Just my opinion, because in the end you will never achieve what it really is like to fly a plane in simulator, but the parts that a flightsim can recreate should be complete and emersive.
I do feel the pressure and refrain to talk shit about Fenix and I don't understand why people are so sensible. I like more the FBW and there are several reasons why. I just think the way to go is FBW
I personally like the cabin announcements implemented in the FBW. Not sure if they fenix offers that, if someone has any input on that please let me know because im n the fence of getting into the fenix

Not big things but it annoys me i cant hear engine start from the cockpit nor do i ever seem to hear the distinctive hydraulic bark on the fenix even when in the cabin. Plus the cabin call button doesn't make any noise either (for me that is so immersive as its what u hear all the time in the real plane). Also the ambient sounds in general in the a32nx are more immersive than the relative silence of the Fenix. A thing that the fbw would benefit from is the load sheet as calculating take off performance is an issue until fully loaded.

You make some fair points but for 8 things that the FBW does better than the Fenix, there are 800 that the Fenix does better than the FBW, so the video title is a little misleading.
there is no evidence that he said the fbw is generally better than the fenix, even you said he made "fair points", and we all acknowledge that the fenix is 100x better than the fbw. How was it misleading?

I agree with you. However with Fenix v2 (whenever it comes out) if they fix the awful engine model they have..it will be perfect. The engine model is my biggest gripe. everything else is well simulated. FBW is amazing for a free product..but there are still too many missing systems.

in my opinion the only thing missing from the fenix is (1: printer 2: performance 3: external panels integration like arduino ecc...)
Performance is going to be hard to do anything about because it’s a more realistic plane than the the Neo so is going to be harder on the CPU. As for external panels, well, that could be an issue because of the ProSim license which forbids home cockpit usage, but there may be some ways around that.
@@WhiteHawk77 performance will see a big improvement when Fenix rewrite the displays in a more performant framework. Which they are doing. Reason PMDG is so much better FPS.
I own Fenix... but I never use it regularly... Mostly I use FBW A320...
I get your point, but almost all of your problems with the Fenix you mentioned in this video are just, that the Fenix has less options to make the experience more casual. Then I think that the Fenix just isn't for you, because it literally is the pinnacle of hardcore simulation. IRL there are no instant alignment, frequency switching with the EFB etc, so there are none in the Fenix straight n simple
You can instant alignment in the Fenix. Saint to nav then flick each to off then back to nav.
Fenix is way higher quality modeling and texturing inside and out, ofcourse its going to have an impact on the frame rates.. same goes for the rendering of the displays, the fbw mcdu and flight displays look very ordinary in comparison.
Theres nothing really better about the sounds either in my opinion, go invest in a proper sound card and then come back and compare the two.. if youre using onboard audio, youre not getting the full experience.. trust me, ive tried both and theres a significant difference.
Also, it takes 7 minutes for the IRS to align .. it will take that amount of time to get the plane ready, minimum. If youre out taxi'ing before the navs have aligned youve skipped some steps, and thats not realistic at all or how fast everything is done in the real world.

I really prefer the fbw experience than the finix. At moment i have a serious bug that can't give me the opportunity of playing this bird that i payed 60 dollars! The fbw is free, with fiew difference between it and the fenix. What i really want to change in fbw is some texture and detail of the wings, schretches and other that are really better in fenix. An other thing is the manuvrability, the fbw is too much simple to fly, its smooth even in near runway distance, the fenix can hear you more turbolence and the feelings of the air fluid. Fbw if will change some of is phisics model of the craft will get a great model really competitive against the fenix. And if i need to say that, the Neo is the future of aviation, the ceo will be replaced now or later.
The external model is what kills the FlyByWire for me, especially those wings.
well the fenix is Still sorta a WIP so this stuff will hopefully get it in or u mighty be able to contact the team and they might be able to add that stuff in :)
I think it is uncomparable if I consider it is freeware × payware product. In fact it is weird that the freeware version does some things better than payware one :) - but I'm not sure why they both went for the same aircraft. We have MSFS A320N, Fenix and FBW. Shame nobody from them went straight for A330/A340/A350/A380.
I like your honesty and style of informing your viewers. All items mention are on point as well as the comments below from Peter Skaarup regarding the MCDU external device feature for which not even 737 PMDG offers that for the $$$ they want for that addon!.....Subscribed
What about VNAV? That is essential but still doesn't work withe the FBW. This means no RNAV etc, departures, arrivals and approachescan be done in the FBW, although these kind of procedures are becoming more and more dominantely in real world.
Sorry, but without this essential feature the FBW never can be better than the Fenix.

One thing the FBW does terribly - deal-breakingly bad, IMO - is the ridiculous initial takeoff roll performance. It accelerates like an F1 car, versus the real thing. I can't believe they haven't addressed this yet.
Does the fénix do better? I’ve struggled with that on fbw and I’m a real a320 pilot.
@@speedbird7976 - Yes, it does. I flew the FBW initially, for a short time, then decided to buy the Fenix. Much more realistic acceleration performance. Went back to the FBW the other day to revisit it...couldn't believe the difference in that aspect.
@@NoelKerns thank you for the reply the fbw does something ugly where the rudders work fine but once I am close to Vr they reverse axis so right becomes left and so on so I’m lifting off aggressively and almost crashing. No idea why it does this I haven’t flown any of the other planes to say that it’s the thrust master TMFR Rudders. I’ll be buying that fénix in a few hours
@@NoelKerns by the way I flew the fénix a few hours and wow I’m impressed. Behaves very similar to the real one. Only wish it had the capability to allow the MCDU on a remote device like an iPad like the fbw but besides that control wise it’s close to the real plane and takeoffs are closer to real life unlike the fbw that I’m all over the runway

Fenix A320 is my choice due to the fact that it super complex and sets high standards for realism FBW is no where near it

It's also the newer generation A320 family.. for me the newer, the better..
I have to admit, at this point I still like the FBW A320 more and here are my reasons:
- Soundset is better, more realistic (I know this is a NEO, but the overall quality and volumes are better, also chatter of flight attendants and passengers). The worst thing in Fenix sound is the engine whine sound at 40-70%. It sounds like a whistle. The actual A320 whine sound is more dry and "screaming". It is not very metallic.
- Flight physics feel better, Fenix feels a little static
- Wingflex seems better, not enough in Fenix
Of course, Fenix is better in the systems department...but systems are not everything. Immersion has a lot to do with sound. But I heard Fenix are planning a big sound update, that is good to hear!
If you thing the soundset of fenix isn’t realistic, I don’t know what you want. This is incredibly realistic, maybe you should play with earphones…
@@peterpotepalafusee7680 It is certainly good for a default soundset, no question. But there are some things that drive me crazy. For example, set thrust to 70%. The sound you will hear is like a metallic whistle. But the real A320 sound is NOT like that. It is more even and more like a "screaming" sound. You can hear it in many videos. Or the missing wind sound in the passenger cabin. Too much vibration sound. These are small things but to me they are important.
The FBW has a more accurate & capable autoland feature.

irs align? start plane with power. stop pretending getting into a plane in a dead state is realistic. planes are run 24/7 with crew swaps. the plane is never fully off. cold and dark is a meme in this game going back 20 years so nerds can press buttons for 2 hours before a flight.
Since when do commercial airlines depart at 3am local time? There's always at least one time per day where the aircraft will be entered in a cold and dark state to be setup for the shift ahead.
@@andytomo5961 all the time. and no they are typically shut down only for maintenance reasons. if a plane isnt flying it isnt making money. plane comes in at 11pm and is cleaned and prepped for a 4am flight. power is always connected to it as well as ground HVAC if available. APU is the only thing that gets managed as it uses fuel.
