I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

It's actually quite nice that they're slowly upgrading the aircraft over time. That way it's easy to follow along and improve
Woo hoo best time of the day whenever there's a new 320 sim pilot upload 😊
agreed
Hope you enjoyed it!
@MichaelKingsfordGray 🤔
Really enjoy the videos. This is something I’ve been trying to work out for a while! Super helpful. Thank you! I think you should do a Q&A video soon.
You're so welcome Martin!
Brilliant. As someone who can’t be a pilot, this is a blessing. I can learn to fly ... ☺️
Enjoy the sim Matthew. Get immersed 🙂
@@hjr2000 that was very nice of you. I hope you have an awesome day!
Thank you finally a tutorial that is straight to the point :)
Can you do a video on MCDU procedures after a go-around? Resetting the MCDU for a second attempt?
Wow thank you thats what I always searched for!
I've only just come to your tutorials as I have been enjoying the Daher TBM930, Cessna 172 and Grand Caravan up until now. I decided to scale up and wanted to say how brilliant and immensely helpful your A320 tutorials have been. It makes the MSFS so much more enjoyable to have more detail about the procedures. I've pretty much watched all of them now but haven't come across one which would demonstrate the procedure to return the A320 to the Cold & Dark state. Shut it down I guess you could say. I may have missed it in one of your tutorials, if not, might you consider doing another short tutorial? Thanks again for your excellent tutorials.
Thanks so much, this is just what I was after. Much appreciated.
Another very helpful video, thx a lot. Would you do a video handling a missed approach / go around with all those these things to be done in such a case.
Great video - thanks 320 Sim Pilot. Would love to see you do a RNAV (RNP) into Gibraltar 09 some day. Cheers.
Amazing work Captain: everytime I compare the Toliss with the 320 Neo of MSF still in my opinion and HUGE different ... it needs time before the MOD achieve the same Toliss's standard .. and it is way very far at the moment.
Off course is better than before, but there is no comparison yet with the MAGNIFICIENT works that Tolis have made both in the 319 & 321 addon ... especially in the latest released.
Nice video. If you get the time, a tutorial on VOR/DME (like LEAL 28) would be appreciated.
Thanks for all your great videos.
Thanks for this. Could you do a tutorial on holding, when waiting for a runway to clear?
Thanks 320. Do you think you will do memberships by the way? I think you're about the only UA-camr I would subscribe to at the moment.
Hi Haden, that is very kind of you. Thank you for your support, for now I do not have memberships but I am considering how I can introduce them. Thanks for watching and commenting!
You can always use the direct to. To change your destination airport then go to flight plan and add ILS stars ect.
Wonderful .
Many thanks!
MSFS has a bug when it comes to “Center” runways. You can depart from one but if you try to pick one for arrival it comes up in the MCDU as, for example, just “ILS 25” (no C designation) even though the airport might have a 25L & 25R. The STARs and Arrivals for that runway will be incorrect or incomplete. I have to make sure that if I fly on VATSIM that I choose an airport without a center designated runway. Still a lot of navigational bugs in MSFS
Can you do a Direct To/"Shortcuts" vs deleting way points - I feel like sometimes I do this it creates duplicates in the active flight plan.
Also holding at a point - with details from a STAR that show the length.
That would be super helpful!
I second this !!
Yes
Yes. Changing landing makes the plan turnaround , very strange.
There has been a lot of new development on the a32nx mod, would love to see you explaining some of the new addition/improvements to the MCDU new options and other PFD improvements :)
This is definitely in the plan! For now I am waiting for V0.5 to be released before making the video just because there are so many changes, hopefully it is out soon!
@@320SimPilot Awesome stuff brother and yeah I totally understand, there is an update every few hours, those guys are awesome :)
Probably the best tutor anyone could imagine having. How come you return home after a day of flying and still have an appetite to fly in the sim?
Thank you so much. I'm 1 hour out of KORD and there is a wind change and I had no idea what to do.
Tips&tricks: If you hold right Alt button and then while holding it left-click on one of screens .f.e CDU, you will get a new window with sized up screen. Like in XPlane11 :) If you click on all screens, they all will be grouped under one. Otherwise it can be moved to another PC-screen :)
I notice you like to pull up the screens in xplane into another window. If you press right alt and click on a screen in msfs it will also work.
thanks so much for that, I was looking all over for this info, excellent vid as ever! quick question, how would I add a waypoint if its not in the flight plan (say if told to hold off the planned route by ATC)?
This was the video i was waiting for! Awesome video's you make! Keep on going! Do you know if it's possible to change the FL in the MCDU and that so the ATC uses that Flight Level? In stead of requesting FL changes via the ATC menu.
Glad you liked it, thanks! Changing the FL in the MCDU won't send any messages to ATC in real life, you could use CPDLC but that feature in not working in MSFS yet!
I would love to see some tutorials for RNAV approaches. Otherwise solid video, as always!
Noted! It is planned once the airbus in MSFS is capable of it. For now I have this one online which shows you the Airbus way of flying an RNAV: ua-cam.com/video/SFxRiQUsvLE/v-deo.html
RNAV works minus the gs indicator not showing.
At 3:57, you're wondering why runway 25L is set in the MCDU. It's because you forgot to reset the approach drop down menu back to Automatic in the world map flight plan at 2:35.
Good spot! Thanks for watching Neo.
First: THANK YOU! Second: I have the issue when I follow these steps that instead of continuing a new approach from where I am, the autopilot and MCU sends me back to the last waypoint I passed (sometimes 50+nm in the opposite direction) to THEN commence the newly input approach. How do I get around this? I can’t seem to start a new approach from where I am in the sky for some reason.
I have the same problem, but thanks to using the A32NX mod a solution I've found is on the MCDU press DIR and choose the next waypoint along and it'll correct itself.
@@mikecallow3854 I sometimes find when I do this, after I reach the waypoint it then does a 180 and returns to an earlier waypoint, even if I’ve deleted it from the flight plan. Weird, might be a bug?
@@blackieblong8334 hmm yeah in that case that definitely sounds like a bug
Just in time. I was thinking a scenario and I ask how to a chance destination or turn around? Here it is.. thank you
Thanks for the info really helpfull. But how can you change the speed/alt at each waypoint on the flightplan on the mcdu ?
I would love a full flight in MSFS2020 from the legend that is @320simpilot
All hail 320 Sim Pilot
I believe you can type in the airport you want to go to in the "Direct to" page in MSFS.
In the real aircraft I think it’s waypoints only like GPS and VOR
Have you ever thought of doing flights in the A350 on x-plane? It’ll be nice to get your opinion on it.
What hardware do you use? Flight controls etc. Great content by the way...👍🏻👍🏻
Changing plans mid flight? Kinda like when we were going to Dubrovnik? Lol
Hi Captain. I have a question. What if when you have changed your destination, you are given a new route to get there. Is it possible to build the route starting where you were given the new destination? Because if I am not mistaken. I saw when you put EDDL you proceeded directly there. Thanks
Thank you. I hope for a day when we can change the user waypoint within an approach. Quick question do you find Simbreif accurately calculates fuel? The other day I ran out of gas from PANC to KJFK. I am trying to figure out why (i.e. head wind, cruise alt, etc.)
Once you have loaded in the flight plan, fuel and weights into MCDU go through the flight plan on simbrief and the MCDU and check if the fuel seems to be about right and the EFOB at landing is roughly the same. If not you can change the percentage of fuel burn on simbrief to compensate
hi there sir can you please make a video how to update toliss a319 so it will work in vulkan as iv tryed every thing would really help
A great tutorial as ususual. However, when you are doing things with the MCDU (and in the cockpit generally) your mouse pointer is darting all over the place and is visually impossible to follow. Moreover, when the screen info changes I have no idea which button you have just pressed, before you mouse darts away again a fraction of a second later! In future can you please be extra methodical and let us know exactly which button you are pressing? :)
Roger! I will try to be more careful with the mouse, I often try to provide summaries mid video but do not always manage. Thanks for watching and the feedback!
do you fly for Lufthansa because i heard someone very similar to you on atc
I'd like to get your feedback regarding Fly By Wires nerfing of the spoilers. Descending more than 2000fpm its impossible to slow down the aircraft or maintain its current speed with the spoilers deployed at 100% inflight and thrust at idle. Is this correct behaviour because the FBW says it is? I'm no aeronautical engineer but deploying spoilers at 100% should cause considerable drag. Its like the saying with the 747 that once you deploy the speedbrakes the plane very quickly converts itself to the glide ratio of a flying piano.
Do you have a tutorial on the radio set up? Thanks from South Africa
Are you planning to do Group in DCS like you do in MSFS?
This aircraft is becoming my favourite to fly. Thanks for the tutorials! Does the direct not work in fs2020? I was cleared to a waypoint on approach and when I selected direct to, the plane decided to head back 100 miles to the previous waypoint. Little buggy!
Same issue here. Have a solution?
Hey 320 sim pilot so question. In the E175-190 which I fly here in the states, the FMS has an option to “extend a line” off the IAF or FAF if you are vectored off the arrival or if the arrival ends (say an arrival where you just fly a CRS or HDG and wait for vectors to fly and intercept). Yesterday I tried this swap but did it late and even tho I went direct it loaded the whole arrival anyways and I thought “man, I just wish I could extend a line off the final approach course and then NAV off a vector.” Is there a way to do that in the airbus? Thanks man, I am happy that both FBW as well as yourself have made such an advanced approach to the Airbus flying, because simply galavanting around Europe with no automation understanding just didn’t do it for me.
Press the DIR button in the MCDU, select the waypoint then enter the radial into the inbound selection then. In the toliss do not fly parallel to that course with about 10nmi as there is currently an issue where if you get within about 10nmi of your chosen waypoint from the opposite direction it will then cancel it and go to the next waypoint.
5:39 if u were already flying the STAR and wanted to change runways at the last minute, could you change to a different star and runway the same way as here?
I've noticed recently, that my V speeds are no longer set. Also, for some reason, the ILS runway frequency is no longer appearing. I am "programming" the MCDU by selecting the route through flight simulator. Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong??? THANKS!!!
Is it possible to do VOR/DME approach?
In FS2020, I’m using flybywire v.0.7.1 experimental version, can erase the whole flightplan and create a new one, while up in the air ? I have had issues, when extra waypoints has been added (didn’t realise until later) and aircraft flies just silly, like back and forth…or something else unorganised. I’d like to start from scratch, choose destination, runway and STAR. How about skipping a waypoint or two in MCDU ?
10:05 The Aircraft Be Like: Where ae u actually gonna go -_-"if u change flight plan again imma kill the engine!
Btw Real Flight Vids pls
In msfs do i need to use heading mode when rerouting to different Airport? My autopilot goes mad and doesnt follow the flightplan in managed mode
Why does my radio NAV page show LS/FREQ instead of ILS/FREQ
on x-plane 11, is it also applicable in just changing the arrival runway ?
because if im doing it and try to insert the new arrival, it keeps asking to select hdg trk...
Yes it is a way to modify it, you need to engage heading mode first by 'pulling' the HDG.
I’d love a video on voice/radio procedures. I’m trying to get into VATSIM and don’t really know what I am doing!
I can help, what do you specifically need help in
@MichaelKingsfordGray That's why I made one up ;)
@@bravocharlie24 I looked at your channel video list...none?
@@whiteflyingmonkey Say again?
Hello 320 Sim Pilot! I am enjoying your videos very much! Thank your, this is really a great way to learn the Airbus on FS2020! Could you please do a video about flying the A320NX manually? In my simulation, when the autopilot is OFF, the airplane always keeps on trimming the elevator (the trim wheels are always spinning a little). When I trim manually, it keeps working against my input. Could you confirm if this is real world behaviour or not, and if it is, what's the reason for it behavin like this? Thank you, looking forward to your explanation!
The best thing about flying the Airbus 19/20/21 is that it auto trims, very useful function as its gives the flight deck one less task and we can focus on other important tasks...
@@Finno-ft4mg Thanks for your answer, didn't know that!
Hi! Glad you like the videos. The aircraft auto trims, here is a video I made explaining some of the things the Aribus does when flying around normally! Not all of these features work yet in MSFS but it gives you an idea of what to expect in an airbus: ua-cam.com/video/yJ8wAY1gPbQ/v-deo.html
My autopilot follows just heading which I haven't set. It does not matter if there is a dot next to heading or not. I just don't get it off. So my question is how to get the plane back following the flight plan?
So I tried to change my flight plan mid flight the other day, but I was already on to the STAR by this point. I changed to the new runway as per ATC, but kept the current STAR. The aircraft then did a 180 and started flying away, but wasn’t following the line…. Was the aircraft trying to restart the STAR? I didn’t stick around to find out… (chances are very high that I input it wrong)
What do you use to look around, zoom in & out, in the cockpit?
Right mouse click then move mouse around
How to plan a flight layover by landing and taking off with same flight in a Airport while travelling from One Airport to another
when are you planning to do a cold and dark setup video?
already did that, didnt you?
Soon!
Hey 320 Sim Pilot, i am kinda new to this simulator stuff, and i tried flying an ILS like you did in your tutorial, but about 15 Nautical Miles away from the airport, the autopilot starts to do strange things, such as leaving the route and going into a (nearly) uncontrolled descend... What could i do? Thx
There is a tutorial about this bug. Making changes to mcdu makes sometimes ”user” waypoints to flightplan. Autopilot goes mad with these.
U need to delete them otherwise your plane will have uncontrolled sink
Hi a320sim pilot! What about a video showing each antenna on the airplane? They seem to be a lot, and many of us found it interesting. Great video!
Thanks for the idea! I do have a walk around video on the channel, form a few months ago! Probably time for an update in MSFS. Thanks for watching!
These "stars" you speak of, is there a map of them online? Like are you pilots expected to know alt routes before landing or will ATC best direct? I'm new to MSFS 2020 and using the Xbox, it's a whole world of confusion for me (I was expecting they'd add an easy mode for casual gamers, how wrong was I?!) so these videos are great....but damn the navigation stuff confuses the hell out of me.
I was messing around and magically managed to bring up a flight plan on to the nav screen. Wasn't following the path exact but when I was about 13 miles out from my destination, I then I clicked the "Approach" button, and the plane randomly started to follow the path and lined up to the runway.....guessing that's what it does IRL right? 😂
Late reply alert: If you are flying in the U.S. you can get all of the STAR charts for an airport at SkyVector, FlightAware, or AeroNav. For global approach plates you can also look at World Aero Data.
Wait thats the music from FSX!
It is indeed!
What key or function in MCDU will tell me my mileage to the destination airport?
Pres flight plan on mcdu and down the bottom in white is your remaining track miles
Could you please comment an engine startup sound on A320NX mod? Everyone says it is amazingly realistic. I'd say it really, really well made, but transition to "idle" sound seems too rough. Also I've heard that neo engines take more time to start comparing to a classic a320, and MSFS "neo" is much closer to classic a320 by startup time. Really like to hear from a real pilot :)
Hey man when ever I change mine I just goes back to the departure sids
I use DIR to change the destination in msfs2020. The old plan is than erase.
In the toliss (not sure of real aircraft) you can’t use the DIR to go to an airport
In the real airbus can you remove waypoints of a STAR?
Yes you can if required on the STAR!
Does anyone know how to erase waypoints? I did it how the tutorial says but the original waypoints don’t go away
How did you get those cam angles?
Probably drone view
My mod doesn’t seem to work anything like yours, especially on the MCDU. I use the automatic downloader, do you think that could be the issue ? Obviously I will try manual next time I’m on it though now. Does anyone have any other suggestion for a fix for me? The MCDU seems to be a lot better in the developers version but that on that version the airplane doesn’t seem to want to slow down, stop or descend or anything else to do with inertia. Tia anyone
Have you deleted the old A32nx file first? I think that's what they recommend now.
Is there a difference between ILS 07L Y vs ILS 07L Z?
There will be small differences yes. Sometimes a different go around route, that sort of thing!
where can i buy microsoft flight simulator 2020
General question > why does a heavy aircraft descend more slowly than a lighter aircraft
Newtons laws of motion.
Objects in motion stay in motion,
Youre more massive so you have more energy to dissipate so you descend more slowly.
You *can* point nose down and descend as fast as you like, but youll be going too fast to land, you need to slow down & descend
@@Person1873 could you give a simpler answer. I thought the heavier the aircraft. The faster it will fall down
All my ISL landings fail lately, autopilot just won't catch the loc and glideslope since Iatest msf patch, I use latest dev build of the A320NEO. As far as I know I am not doing anything wrong. Anyone else experiencing the same?
Check at MCDU RAD/NAV the ILS frequencies, compare with map data and of course the charts (just search the web if you do not use a tool). Sometimes (for example in ‘Tokio, Haneda) one ILS frequency is wrong in the game itself. Check Reddit and the official forum for such bugs or problems, too :-)
@@ThePeperichThanks for your answer. I tried it today and it went better. Probably dialed in a wrong frequency, and the horrible ATC doesn't help either .
Question pilot.... FS2020 or Xplane 11?
Tricky question! I'll say both for now, each has its strengths!
Need to watch this at 0.25 speed.
