English Ivy Houseplant Varieties | Hedera Helix Vines

- There are several types of English Ivy (hedera helix) to choose from and love as houseplants. No worries, these beautiful houseplants are anywhere near poison; they are perfectly safe for inside the home. In this video I share seven types of English Ivy I have. Ivies are vining plants, meaning as they branch off and spread along a vine as they mature and grow.
Ivies are often used as ground covering outdoor, but for in this video we will only cover indoor ivy, or ivy that is for houseplant use. Ivy leaves can be solid or variegated. Ivy leaves also vary in size and shape. Ivies thrive in good quality medium to bright light; although some will do well in low light.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the video, leave a comment, I would greatly appreciate your feedback as I develop and grow my UA-cam channel.

Great video! Thank you!
This was actually really helpful. I grabbed a heart shaped ivy on a whim and she is thriving in my bathroom, about ten feet from a southeast facing window. She was the first one I’ve successfully kept alive for more than a month 😬😂. I just took three cuttings to propagate just in case she goes south for some reason, because she’s absolutely lovely and her dark green leaves are stunning.
Awesome! I am glad this was helpful! Thanks for watching 💚
I had no idea there were that many types of ivy. It just makes me happy seeing your love of plants and the beauty of your plants.

This plant looks beautiful. I didn't realize there are so many different types of English Ivy. Currently looking for some new pet-friendly plants for my home with indirect lighting.
Thank you 💚 there are so many more I wish I had! I think hanging baskets work well if you hang them to keep the pets off of them.

Thank you my fellow plant lover 💚🤗
I recently got an English Ivy and I love him so much, I call him "Helix" taken from the latin name. He's got crunchy leaves, which I recently found out is overwatering and trying to treat that. I have a snippet from an ivy in my front yard growing in water.
You are so knowledgeable about plants!

Try growing some ferns, there is a lot of variety of them. Especially with the Boston fern there is a cultivar called fluffy ruffles.

Aww, I can relate. Thank you for watching!
I subricibed
Thank you and welcome!
I learned Ivy grows to become a tree when given a chance to climb up. It has 3 Types of leaves as it grows, 3 lobed as it crawls, heart shape as it climbs up and then eye shape as it fruits.
is it really highly prone to spidermites? im scared because thats what the other people say. i just bought one today
It happens. I never had trouble with them until I lived here honestly, I think the dry air here makes them more susceptible to spider mites.
@@greenmable475 so yours are still doing well and no pests?
@@bernadettelopez7225 yes, moisture, avoiding dry out and balanced humidity helped mine a lot.
@@greenmable475 okay thank you so much! mine is just a starter plant and im too scared to keep it because of what i have been reading and watching about how spidermites love ivy plants:(
My mother is NOT a fan of ivy mostly because it can climb if you're not paying attention to them.
