The chock is to prevent your trailer from moving as they drive the forklift or hand truck on and off your trailer..
I got my CDL about 6 months ago because of watching you. There's some days that are hell but I love driving. I would love to stop at 3-4 in the afternoon but some days it's 8-11 just roll with the flow and make creative parking if need be late in the night
Half your problem. I'm watching your videos is when you're backing up, you oversteer. A lot . You won the last back when I started driving.
Thirty three years ago
He said with all my you tube, forget experience, and clean back ground, and driving record. Wooow this is a new breed of drivers
Yeah I’m surprised his company hasn’t seen his videos and let him go by now lol
*anytime Alex sees a truck moving more than 3 inches*: "Where are you going??"
lol true
Alex is a crybaby sometimes.
@@stikerman9841 Well he IS a truck driver. 😂😂😂
Ive always pulled dry vans but what you just went thru is an everyday thing for reefer drivers at grocery warehouses from what ive been told over the years lol
Reefer is no joke I have done Reefer in day cab sleeper and regional intrastate and interstate I did market basket stop n shop Shaws Domino's. I now do dry van flatbed step deck mostly dry van. Am thinking about getting a ari legacy sleeper built a great place to go is 4 states they're the best for all things trucks especially when you buy one and build your truck I like diamond tuck interior and a finshed look to dash like back in the day when kenworth had there Seattle package
Try a steel yard waiting on a coil my record was 36 hours of sitting 😂
Bruh. I’m new like you. Been doing it for a year. I had to blind side back into many of the parking spots I was trying to back into to make my delivery.
Don’t complain, just do it. Comes with the territory
I have been driving since 85, I recognize that Y place, it is slow, cramped, and not much room. I avoid it at all costs. Don't let places like this get you down, consider it a challenge and a test of your driving skills.
Don't let this discourage you. May I say you have such patience when it comes to the every day crap in this business.
I enjoy checking in and seeing what adventures you come across.
Stay positive trucker.
Retired trucker.
Honestly, trucking can be a serious hell, but if you play your cards correctly, the job will end up getting better and better. Nice video buddy
Trucking is definitely a living hell
Kermit the frog
I’m so glad it’s catching on.
44:38 Alex, I always leave reviews on Google maps for all the places I go to. By far the worst place I’ve been to was Amazon Dallas! You literally have to wait in line at the gate for a dock to be open!!! Then they make you drop the trailer and drive to a truck stop, and wait to be called back! Most of the time it’s till the next day! I told my dispatch to never send me there again!!!
I deal with Amazon in my job. Not trucking, but in another area...I can't say what. Anyway, they are by far the worst company/entity you will ever deal with. They have become so big, and so powerful, they very much have a "You'll put up with whatever shit we give you, or you will go out of business" attitude. In 22 years of doing what I do, I've never seen any other business operate like they do.
Not me .🤣🤣🤣I have seen them trucks on the highway in Dallas. On Lawd, and don’t talk about dangerous drivers 🤞
I’ve been there!!! It was terrible.. I was there for About 16 hours all together
I got my CDL in NY. Come out to JFK cargo and find out what it's like to import or export freight here! It forces you to become a skilled driver. When you've been waiting 5-8 hours for a door, you have no choice but to back into the worst dock.
Come for the trucking, stay for the hate-watch comments
welcome to the reality of truck driving
Or just life.. Moving on... ✌️
Literally
He wouldn't survive in the reefer world.
@@scottied67and most drivers couldn't survive the floor of the NY Stock Exchange. Not really relevant though, is it?😊
@@Slime-Man-Extreme Am I supposed to support him and give him virtual participation trophies for his incessant complaining and whining? How can you guys overlook that video after video after video? Is this just the way you guys are, like is it the new normal to cry about everything? No wonder you guys can't get any action on the dating apps.
Great job backing into those spots. It’s not for the faint of heart. That no pull up park on Saturday was perfect.
Bro you know how many days I want to quit lol. I do flat bed. So I'm outside in the weather, freezing rain, high winds etc. I want to quit every day. But nope we keep on truckin dude it's what we do. You got this man. Don't give up
Why just don't switch to dry van or reefer? Hahaha
@@nikoladodig97💰
I don't know how you OTR guys do it. I was regional line-haul / relay for a now defunct LTL carrier. I was home every other night, was in the Teamsters Union, made about .65/mile on average. The longest haul I would have to make was from the Chicago area to Nashville, TN. Slept in hotels (never had to sleep in a truck), came back the next night with a load going east / north. Never had to deal with customers, just terminal-to-terminal relay runs. Hooked a lot of trailers in rail yards, which sucked but you OTR guys are the *real* road warriors.
Hi Alex , I am from Sri Lanka. Because of you I got my C+E (CDL) today and will start trucking soon.
Hi bro I am from India how can I get into trucking in USA
If you say you're getting a poor cell signal in an area, they probably didn't hang up on you. You probably just lost connection haha
Bro just loves crying all day
Hey man one time I waited 13 hours at a place. It happens from time to time. It seems you’ve never gone through something like this I thought every driver went through this on the norm. I don’t plan on being in this industry forever, my goal is to save up some cash and move abroad where i can chill and not have to work everyday. The American dream can be deceiving.
That chalk is there to keep the trailer from moving when the forklift drives onto the trailer it's not going to stop you if you take off you can drive right over that chalk how I know is because I was stupid once and forgot to move the chalk and drove right over it
I almost went to GP a few months ago. I stayed where Im at because of a new account. Now Im running dedicated on Quad Graphics and they treat truckers like family. They let you overnight at all their facilities. They unload you whenever you show up, no bs like waiting until an appointment time the next day. They will load you as soon as possible, in appointment order, but its rarely more than an hour early because they run appointments close to production. But as soon as your load is produced, they will load you. They have you slide tandems and drop the red air line. They come lock it out, but they rarely ever take longer than an hour. Usually, the dock loader even brings your paperwork out to you. Most of their facilites have plenty of room to maneuver.
Its like a trucker designed their procedures. I love that company.
Colgate, Walmart, Target, and Chlorox can kiss my lilly white corn hole.
If you think that was a long wait, don't do Reefer, then 😂😂
FR, FR, if you make it out under 2 or 3 hrs that's a good day.
Alex. There is more than just unloading trucks that happens on the docks. They also have to empty the docks to make room for what yall bring. And hopefully, you bring the amount your dispatcher stated your 15 pallets, and in reality you bring 81 pallets. see I know this since I receive the truck driver into the dock where I work at and we get at least 16 trucks a night in 8 hrs
a OTR driver with a "schedule" man oh man lol.....
Blud just said it took him 2 years to get good at backing 💀💀
Don’t be fooled bro still sucks
Honestly that back up wasn't that bad. You need to calm down
"they hung up on me"
Then proceeds to say" I can't even get a signal"
That was definitely on you lol, I don't know why that made me mad 😂
Alex I think you need to take at least a 2 week vacation out of the truck. Do something fun like go on a fishing trip.
More like a permanent vacation dude does nothing but cry 24/7
You can make just as much home daily these days in the trucking industry they just don't want you to know that
Alex!! Go get em'!
why dont you film more between the rides ? like your weekends and at night
Because it's personal time.
GP Transco must pay an extra 25 cents per mile when running the flashers!
Alex is a fine driver. Excellent. 4 way flashers, is his signature.🔥
Sometimes a phone call before you arrive could save a lot of time ar the customer
Well I worked for 20 years at a warehouse in South Carolina and it would get horrible. I’ve had drivers check in and we would tell them to back in across the way that there load wasn’t ready. I’d go home at 4pm and come back the next day at 8am and that same driver would still be sitting there waiting. There are times drivers would wait 18 hours or longer to get there load. I always felt so bad about it and I’d be the one they’d jump all over and yell at.
Suck it up, buddy.
You are absolutely correct to feel frustrated at being sent to the wrong locations, and having your time wasted. Unfortunately, it is part and parcel of our profession. It will happen regardless of which company you are with.
We just have to suck it up.
Me? I go in my bunk and okay my PS4. There's nothing I can do about it and most dispatchers don't give a darn. So, take it from an old man....learn to bend like a Reed in te wind rather than break like an oak in the storm. 😮
The gaps between the truck is to allow other trucks to exit the other businesses
So what could be done about poor Alex here so these situations don't arise?
When is your time important to you?
I want you to think about that question.
It wasn't like this back in the late 80s in early 90s when you got to your delivery.....
They just keep building these 353 foot clumsy trailers and destroying a person's time
That's the worst thing you do is take somebody's time away from them for free
Show up, wait 10 hours and Not get paid? Average it out, figures out to be less than minimum wage. Any questions why so many truckdrivers quit? Myself included.
If you are waiting 10 hours (not on your reset) and not getting paid, you are working for the wrong company.
@@Commy01 Had full nights rest, 8 hrs. Went to pick-up supposedly drop-n-hook. 10 hours later got loaded. How can one take a 10-hour rest after sleeping for 8? And then drive for 10 hours after being awake all day??
@@MrCrazycook8 I didn't say anything about sleep. I said you are working for the wrong company if you don't get paid for a ten hour delay
@MrCrazycook8 get in the seat and go
3.1 million truckers driving in the U.S. Its hard to believe there's a shortage.
You should name the warehouse so your fellow truckers can avoid this place.
Irrelevant. Unless you are Owner-Op, you go where your company tells you to go. The only exception being company drivers that have decades of time with the same company.
@@Commy01 After that experience I'd tell the company I simply won't deliver there again. Why would any sane driver waste their time going in to a shitstain customer like this one again, knowing they're going to spend all day sitting around? That customer is making things bad for everyone, including other shipping customers.
@@binaryanticommunist1882 and they would say, "tough. This is forced dispatch. Get over there or turn in your keys."
@@Commy01 BS. There's more than one customer in Atlanta.
@@binaryanticommunist1882 you are either missing or ignoring the point. Forced Dispatch means you go where the company says you. You can complain about shipper/reciever, but a company will send you back if it is the cheapest/quickest option.
Keep doing what you do alex
24:09 If theres a backing competition, until you backed up in a spot the competition would've been over by then 😄
Dude, leave all this behind. You can make what you're making now or more to a single customer Monday through Friday where I am. No waiting for hours to get loaded or unloaded, mainly all drop and hook and detention starts the moment you arive at your destination.
This is why companies pay per mile/load
If you were getting paid per hr, this wouldn't happen!
I mean, if I was getting paid per hour I’d drive slow af
And shit like this is why I went straight to tanker. Want me to sit and wait? I get paid by the hour for detention, sitting in my truck and reading on my tablet or playing on my laptop. Take all the time you want why I sit in sleeper mode... saving my clock for the drive home.
I used to watch you when you were working at Variant, I was wondering if you had any tips for a newbie driver for them. I start on the 16th of October
43:46 Alex sounded so defeated
P&D drivers do this all day everyday. This is so minor of an inconvenience lol
R+L??
They wait 8 hours?? That's not very efficient id imagine they leave and come back later
No. They would call dispatch and dispatch would tell them go to next stop
Welcome to the game young buck... don't worry.. it'll be a faded memory soon
Smallest speed bump in history, what do you know bro starts crying
Truck appears 3/4 of a mile away, bro starts freaking out damn near crying lol
Alex goes to the sleeper birth: Activate Hazards
So you're making $500 for going from Ohio to Georgia, but you had a $17,000 check in the previous video.
you are amazing you impress me every time!!!! you are the Man!
it's all a part of the job. love you bro
Thanks Alex for sharing your life on the road with us!!
use 2 drive when l was young got lucky run from az into new jersey drop 90 percent of time every week good luck brother
Welcome to trucking. The most needed job in America, yet treated inhumanely like stray dogs. I’m trying to get tf out. The worst thing that could happen to trucking is the takeover of corporations, just in time freight, and division between driver, dispatcher, csr, etc. They’re on a mission to push drivers out and replace us with AI that can run 24/7
Ayyy I was vibing at the beginning but yea big bro I had a similar day today
12:35 Prevents from seriously injuring or maybe even kill the forklift driver not for you to prevent from driving off 👌
It's for both reasons
Alex, take your phone in the building and ask them to drop pin Where you need to go it might be easier. Hope that helps. Thanks for a great video
.... is it me or is alex forming a trucker gut
he will be assimilated
Hot pockets bro
He wanted to gain weight …never understood young guys wishing they were heavier, your young, skinny and cute, what more do you want? you’ll be bigger as you age, no need in rushing it.
You were in my neck of the woods in this. I work at the Menards there in Holiday City just around the corner from your pickup location
Hi alex i really enjoy watching your videos and i start trucking for knight transportation this monday with my trainer 😅 thank you for the content man keep it rolling take care buddy!😎
I’m proud and happy for your accomplishments! Keep up the good work my friend! 10-4
I've had this happen at a grocery warehouse. They don't care!
Imagine going to hunts point ny,brooklyn or Manhattan everyweek😂 let me tell you how trucking life works....
“Life ain't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can GET hit and keep moving forward”
😂😂😂😂 she sounded so dry on that phone the woman from shipping it was like yeeah I do not care 😂😂😂😂😂
I run product for the big three auto makers specifically Ford and let me tell you this is how it goes every single day😂 the amount of times I’ve helped new loss drivers is absolutely astounding
make sure customer signs the bill for dention time for your wait
Is it possible to have a set schedule driving truck? like never drive at night?
I don't mind long waits. Gives me time to clean the truck or get some sleep.
Dude adapt. That’s the whole point
I drove for gp 2 years got multiple places i was in the dock for 12 to 14 hours in my two years and had to aruge about getting detention.
You miss your appointment then complain you have to wait?
This is why u call them and ask and get directions
Sounds like Alex is getting stressed over not much. If you are worried about finding parking, call a truck stop and make a reservation for paid parking. The job does not go perfectly everyday.
You are not trip planning correctly. You have to do research for your delivers and pickups.
parking between two trucks seems like the hardest thing to do. gotta be a pro. lol
How much do they give you per hour after the first 2 free hours?
I applied at GP recruiter called language barrier was terrible. I was immediately not interested. To bad seems like a decent company
I have been waiting over 8 hours on a tire change 😂 not my business but if you have one load that’s over 8 hours in two years we’ll don’t need to say anything be safe bud .
Hey Alex, do you ever do any cross Border driving, U.S and Canada ?
Suck it up and be great full that you have a fantastic job making great money. It's just one bad day compared to ten great ones . Drive safe bro and smile. 👍👍👍👍😁😃😁🤟
Multiple years in and bro says he’s still practicing lmao
ouch 8 hours dang hang on brother
Appointment at 2? In at 6? Only 4hrs
Can’t imagine your complaining if you had a clutch pedal.😂
Hey Alex were you in Kansas this morning?
Can tell Alex skill is improving.
yeah I see it as well... He's still panicking a bit much.. But that will go away in time. But if he sticks with tucking. He'll make a hand. A possible a good owner operator. Depending on his mechanical skills?
That’s because he’s Alex the big brain! 😂
Mechanical skills? Alex? Hahahahahahaha. Good one!@@emilepellerin6064
Imagine working inside management and budgeting at GP's headquarters. Good thing this company is financially sound doing runs like that is losing money. No back floats.
I like it freightliner
i started driving in 1978 i was scared to death of chicago, probaly 1978 i pulled into dock with my 1979 transtar beautifu truck almost brand new backed into dock heard yelling at 1 am.suddenly truck shook.a big black guy and another black guy where screaming at me for lumper fees.suddenly their was a major bloodbath by door them 2 where screaming i have to feed my babies.always hated chicago
Ugh lumper fees are the biggest scam in the industry. 260$ for unloading 12 skids fk off give me a power jack and 20$ I'll do it with a smile thinking I robbed you. What a joke
Hey man I watch your videos alot and I'm really thinking about getting into trucking But I'm curious, do you get paid daily ? week? or by weekly?
It's weekly. Depending on the company you'll get paid on Friday for the previous weeks settlement. So if you drive a week, you'll get paid the following Friday.
Do you have any vacation time?
Bro don't ever think it's easy being a truck driver I lasted over 2 days in a place before so that's not enough patience
Hey Alex just wanted to know what part of Georgia are you going to I live in Georgia
Welcome to real truck buddy. It's not always easy.
That should be about $1500 in detention charges.
I've been to some crazy places myself when I drove.
