For everyone checking in at 2019, bugs are completely removed at least on PC. Playing with Gtx 1070, Ryzen 5 1600 and 16 Ram, the game plays like butter. Its all Fun Factor now, and you Will get lost in this world. Its 100% buy with current prices and just how next level it is if you love story games.
jlcmiles yeah, Maybe, but compared to skyrim this is made by another studio (Arcane, and not you know, directly from bethesda). So that might not be the case, bu you know, could as likely also be the case.
Javier Sánchez Yeah same... Im scared... What if they give no real fix for the pc? And we have to wait 2-3 years to be able to play this at 144 hz? Like damn. If I change from Very Low too Ultimate, the fps does not really change...
Javier Sánchez i've played it twice and i still don't get all the hype. in my opinion it was nothing special, what do you think it is that makes this game so good?
The Last Black Saiyan So many reasons! Most of them personal actually so I'll skip basically all of them. But still maybe the most influential reason is that one of my top most favorite games of all time is Deus Ex (the first one). Ugh I wont go into detail but if you want to know how that game relates to Dishonored, I highly recommend to watch Mark Brown's video "The Comeback of the Immersive Sim | Game Maker's Toolkit" So besides Gameplay and also the game in general just having a great classy quality to it, the setting ended up inspiring me quite a lot through the years. Specially because I usually help a friend of mine make fantasy worlds for his PnP RPG campaigns.
The Last Black Saiyan Oh well I'm waiting for some patches to come out and the like. I can wait quite a lot, specially because I want to enjoy the game so much.
The GOTY edition will be fantastic. When will gamers realize that we have FAR more patience than publishers do when it comes to buying games? The sea of pre-order gamers are why we get broken games. There is no incentive for publishers to release a quality game if they know enough people will buy the game broken. Stop buying broken games in hopes someone on reddit or forums will have a "fix."
yeah, that line where ACG says "that should have never gotten through in test" made me laugh. like AAA titles go through any testing these days. essentially when you buy a new game, you pay $60 to be a beta tester. months later when games work right, i pick them up on steam at half price.
I called the bad optimisation a mile away and tried, politely, to warn people on Steam against pre-ordering after I read "16 GB of RAM" on the requirements page. I was met with about as much respect you'd find at a Trump rally. Glad to see Bethesda's new review standards are working out so well for people. Just like they did for Deus Ex earlier this year. *Edit: Apologies to anyone offended that I mentioned Trump... no wait, I'm not. Fuck off. *Edit again: Seriously, stop wasting your energy on my Trump analogy and achknowledge the rest of the post as was intende. This wasn't meant to be political, and I'm mocking an extremist group that has confirmed caused violence and fear. I'm disabling replies. If you take offense, move on.
And some Bethesda fanboys still defended the new review rules when what we wanted was to avoid these issues. They changed the rules, all they had to do to keep people's trust was to not release a shitty port and they failed miserably. The game needed quite a bit more polish, whether it's performance, sound or AI, it needed more work. I guess launching a broken game or a shitty port is part of Bethesda's DNA.
About as much respect you find at a Trump protest were people block the 101 freeway in a state Hillary won. You can add vandalism to the list to. You just had to bring u politics huh? It clearly goes both ways. I've seen plenty of violence from the Hillary side as well. No, I'm not a Trump supporter, just calling it like it is.
Aurodeep Kamal Deus Ex was another stealth game released by a major publisher so broken on launch for PC and missing so much content that it sits at a 64% positive currently on Steam. They also held its review copies until a meagre amount of time before launch, even deactivating previously unknown microtransactions and litetally fooling people into thinking they weren't in the game.
Finally got around to playing this (early 2018) after loving Dishonored 1 and i can honestly say i thoroughly enjoyed it. Played as Emily on the PC over 3 days. Good Times. No technical issues. No bugs. No crashes. It pays to wait till the developers have fixed everything.
Or $105 for that collectors edition :D. Except I just fuicking love this series so it's worth it to me, even if I have to play at 30 fps on like low and medium settings on my $1700 pc xD for now. Oh not to mention 1080p monitor so that's nice -_-
I don't know if I'm a sufficiently avid gamer to subscribe to your channel on this basis alone, but I just wanted to thank you for the time and effort you've clearly put into these reviews. I've only seen a handful thus far, but it's obvious that there's a lot of thought and craftmanship behind the way they've been created- even if the games they talk about, don't. Keep up the great work!
I have a 1080, playing at 1440p ultra. Lowest FPS I saw was 58. BUT it swings between 144 and 60 constantly, and it's pretty annoying. The actual game is excellent though.
DrearierSpider1 Remember, fanboys defended it because it supposedly prevented "spoilers." Well the game was "spoiled" the second the FPS drops occurred.
It's really badly optimized. I know it's hard to make games work for all types of hardware but it seems like Bethesda only managed to make the game properly work on the minority of PC's.
the story is very similar to dishonoured 1, assassin kills people, corvo gets framed, Emily Is captured (the empress or corvo on #2) and you try to find out who killed the people aswell as take out the leader and rescue the other hero
+Saurabh Mazumdar oh yeah I forgot about that at least it wasn't a complete shit fest like arkham knight or just cause 3 god those were some of the worst ports I ever played especially just cause I couldn't even get 10 fps on that shit with a 970 instantly refunded it in 5 minutes lol
I know that slide-stab instakill needs to be fixed, but who's *actually* going to be spamming that in a game that jerks people off for being obsessed with non-lethal ghosting? I realize not everyone plays that way, but come on. Out of all the ways you can choose to play a Dishonroed game, spamming 1 attack for the entire game should not be one of them. Neat review as always though! Really hoping they implement some PC fixes fast and that this isn't just another Mafia 3 situation.
Always nice to have ample demonstration to show the devs, if they even care about fixing it. It doesn't bother me that it exists right now but I know there'll be people who'll beat the game using nothing but that move and then complain about how short it was, lol. Need a patch ASAP.
Still, if you discover that a singleplayer game has a spammable attack and, you find that using that attack lessens the enjoyment you get out of the game and, then you continue spamming that attack, you are just being irrational.
The God Emperor Incorrect. Unless you mean you magically fall on your sword during a heavy battle simply because of a bug. THat makes no sense. the rules set aside on a game that is working correctly is how the game should be experienced and bugs should be destroyed. Then again you are somehow assuming a newer person to the game will KNOW thats not on purpose. All things that are actually irrational.
_"Still, if you discover that a singleplayer game has a spammable attack..."_ I get your point, but I see things a bit differently. First, if it is a bug, than this bug needs to be fixed, but this is not even the point. The real point is that, assuming the problem is not a bug; you can't blame people for using an actual part of the game design. It is in our nature to look for the smart and easy way and good games will actually use this and reward the player for being smart or clever. They will not punish you for being smart and the devs will not say things like _"You are playing it wrong!"_. "Crysis 2" was a terrible game anyway, but the point where it became ridiculous was the actual playtime. I beat the game on my first run, on the highest difficulty setting _and_ without even upgrading (because Crytek never cared to fix the damn upgrade system) in less than 4 hours. And part of the problem was that one could just skip whole battles by just walking around them. People pointed that out and Crytek and many fanboys claimed that we were "just playing the game wrong". No, I don't. Assuming I was a soldier and tasked with reaching a certain point on the map and do this incredibly crucial thing... now would I rather be under the radar as much as possible or would I join every random fight I see on the horizen, because... hell, this is war afterall and this is what we do in war?
Buying the game all excited and shit, then having to wait for patches, fixes and sometimes even content that had been chopped off of the actual game. This bullshit needs to stop.
Angry Toast More fool you for buying it on release then, the only way publishers and developers will stop releasing SHITE games is if people stop pre-ordering them and buying them on release week...
Peter Ryan Unfortunately, I don't see pre-orders going away anytime soon. We're just going to have to accept it. But what you should expect, is for the game to be in working order, even if you pre-order it. Those developers need to get that right at least.
I agree that games should be without issues on release... but pre ordering games/buying them on release week and giving them your money just like lots of other people when the majority of games have issues on release is why they won't bother to make the games "issue free" on release. They don't have to because people are lining their pockets regardless of quality. You can just wait and see somebody like ACG's review saying to wait until it gets fixed, If more people wait for sales, we will have more of a chance at TERRIBLE QUALITY game releases being much less common!
Angry Toast I know especially as a pc gamer it seams that companies just focus all their time on the console version then just rush the pc version leading to really buggy games like Arkan Orgins.
The Batter The best games of the year release a goty edition . It doesn't have to be number 1 of that year . Oh and uncharted 4 sucks . It's just an interactive movie .
Max Rai I agree. I honestly don't remember most of the story. Rise of the tomb raider on the other hand is a masterpiece in comparison. I'm having so much fun with that game.
I haven't seen this written yet and fairly new to the channel, but you're rhetoric skills are extremely good, Karak. Very much enjoy when you are on Mr.Mattyplays Podcast; I really appreciate the sincerely informed and (at least seemingly) very intellectual approach you take to everything you do.
"Hey Arcane you're part of Bethesda now, we put out broken games so there's no rush for polishing them sheeps will buy it anyway and we'll throw them some patches later at their faces. Also we should maybe consider buying Hangar 13 studio, they'd fit right in..." 2016 in all its glory.
space delete we all wish you were either educated or crash. your grammar is awful and poorly represents the intellect of the human race as much as you think day 1 consumers are bad for video games.
the console versions are fine, I just got done playing the ps4 version and I barely encountered any bugs and glitches. Sure there are sometimes, heads going through a wall or AI doing some weird shit but not too crazy. PC version is another story though.
Dishonored was never a grind despite not having the NG+ and not having all your already acquired skills...though honestly you replay it for the "fun" factor...so hampering those already acquired skills made it a little tasking...lets just say this is more of an improvement suggestion than a "must" have feature...w3 was able to add NG+ I hope the devs listen more this time...:D
Considering how well the original one was hyped, and how long took this one to develop, it was even a long time after the first trailer of this one release, it actually surprising that this title was so unprepared when first released.
Technical issues aside this is one of the best stealth games ever made. I played on PC and it is terribly optimized, running at medium settings with questionable frame rates sometimes dropping to 20 fps, when most modern games run at 60 fps nearly maxed out on my machine. I also had a lot of weird sound bugs with sound cutting in and out depending on where I was facing and volumes glitching out relative to their location. However despite this, the level design, challenge, immersion and varied skill sets made this an incredible game in my eyes. This would be one of the best games in recent memory had it been released in a better state. Still one of my favourite stealth games and a big improvement on Dishonoured 1 in my eyes.
Well many people disliked the Outsider's voice in this game. But I thought it fits him. He sounds more relaxed, and less cliche as an emotionless entity.
I agree with the sound and the graphical issues, I hope they fix them. It's really bothersome since I'm not using dark vision and I navigate based on sound.I've been spotted so many times because I thought the enemies were further away. Other than that it's a blast to have a solid stealth experience in a genre that seems to be dying out.
How did you manage to upload a full review that fast? I mean, it's even official now that Bethesda sends out their review copies only one day before the games actually release. So even i got my review copy just yesterday afternoon.
Oh, ok. I'm a reviewer myself (only german and for written reviews) and just wondered how fast you got through the game cause i just started it. Anyway, thanks for the reply, i love your videos and wish my review-style was as fluent as yours. Keep up the great work.
That's why i'm glad we're more likely a small online magazin. Still happy enough to work with all big publishers but with no need to rush. But yeah, Bethesda brought this competition to a whole new level. I'm really up for an early release day review when it's like how MS did it for Gears 4 or Quantum Break and they send it out to us weeks before but Bethesda somehow ruined it for the small reviewers that have a "normal" life in addition.
"Like everyone shows up to an ass-kicking contest but you have 3 legs, and no ass". That is the most amazing description I've ever heard about the importance of sound hahaha. Never change Karak, never change...
Excellent review, I got it on a good sale and it turns out that it just had a major patch (2nd patch infact) that seems to address a lot of issues. Thanks for the upload.
The issue with the controls is infuriating. The center dead zone is huge, the look acceleration is absurd. It's like Halo 5 before 343i patched in the option to adjust both, which basically fixed Halo 5's controls. Arkane needs to do the same.
On the original ps4, I had little to no issues. The footsteps are kinda misleading but in all honesty I never used them anyways because of dark vision. I had an absolute blast playing it
I agree about the intro, played it earlier today and it felt strangely rushed, like it was meant to be a little more drawn out but some bits were cut out
Just finished my GOTY stuff and sent a shoutout to you for being the only reviewer I saw mention the slide move. Hopefully at least one of the 5 or so people that actually watch it will come your way!
Finished this on PS4 Pro. It looks amazing in 4K, ran smoothly, no input lag, and had none of the technical issues you mention. I think they are more PC centric problems. Turning 'friction' down from 100 to Zero in the options menu improves the responsiveness of the controls significantly. Amazing game. GOTY for me.
Fair review. I bought it recently and am enjoying it, despite most of the issues you mention still applying. The real fun for me is exploring and using the game powers to find all the alternative paths and upgrade items, while remaining invisible.
this games badass man; playing it on ps4 right now, its doing stuff ive never seen before in the stealth genre, next level game and definitely worth playing for any fan of stealth i also appreciate the hard difficulty this time around
You must be the most dedicated reviewer out there! The fact that you´re before anyone else and make the videoes long and informative is a marvel! A shame you aren´t one of the biggest reviewers on this site
the whole slide and slaughter move was also in dishonored 1 and i spammed that when i was doing mostly flesh and steel on hard. another move i used all the time (not on flesh and steel) was double jumping and landing on a guard's head to disorientate them or to drop assissante someone (even tho i was like half a foot above his head)
Seems more and more likely unless it's an online game you gotta play with your friends, it's just better to wait (often until the GOTY/Complete edition... because then you end up with all the DLC content and tons of time for them to patch the game to full functionality.) Sure you usually gotta wait a year, but damn there are so many great games (despite issues) constantly coming out over the last few years its not that hard to do once you get in the pattern of purchasing that way.
Performance is fine for me but I am running a gtx 1080. The thing thats standing in my way right now is the mouse movement on the PC is bugged. I've turned off mouse smoothing and friction (whatever that is) but the mouse speeds up and slows down depending on where I'm looking and seems like it could be tied to framerate or have something to do with input lag.
I had already decided I wasn't going to buy it for a whole year because there's bound to be a ton of DLC and for the simple fact that Bethesda isn't being a very consumer friendly publisher. If I had any doubt left, your review has removed it completely. Thanks again
Lee Worley Fallout had a ton of worthless DLC and besides, I don't like waiting for story DLC in a singleplayer game and given that the game is a buggy mess at the moment, I'd say I'm quite happy I haven't bought it yet
Nicolas De Raedt but if the game keeps the amazing gameplay from the original its worth a buy even if it has useless dlc just dont buy the useless dlc and only buy the good ones
Nicolas De Raedt if you want to support a good dev team this yeat than Respawn is your man. they made titanfall 2 and have said all dlc and future content is free and their approach to patch notes is very interesting. also Rainbow six Siege is a good game as well.
Ok so this is the sequel to one of my all time favourite games so to see it land on PC in such a mess is gutting. If I'm being fair my 980GTX is running it ok until I hit the streets and then it's a laggy mess, even running on lower presets. Isn't it funny (as in not funny at all) how this is the first big game out since Bethesda removed review copies from their things to do list. Reviewers like your good self Karak would flag all these issues but sadly many people will have rushed in assuming at least Dishonored 2 will be free from problems, right? :S What I also find astounding is that Bethesda have just posted about the PC issues basically saying 'have you checked the system requirements?' I saw that and winced, obviously a little mushroom cloud just appeared over the steam forums :) Tech problems aside I'm loving the game, the mission Clockwork Mansion especially is just exquisite. Anyways, cheers for getting your review out so fast Karak, I'm sure you will save people lots of money.
Rigged for Epic your the second person in 10 comments that said this was running like shit on a 980. Wtf? I mean seriously wtf. There isn't an excuse for this shit.
Corey Lindgren They have said a patch is in the works so we shall see what they come up with. I still think Bethesda have come across almost in denial about this, yet the way I see it they must have known about these problems before release.
+Rigged for Epic the thing is, if you were careful like me you could have known about this in advance. The system requirements were a big red flag that something was wrong.
I review PC games so I need to get the game anyway but I take your point about the system requirements being a sign. I have to say though, from a dev like Arkane this caught me off guard being their so well versed in PC development. How does it run on your rig?
I didn't want to watch bc spoilers. I've paid ZERO attention to this game. I haven't watched a single trailer. I LOVED the first game. Whats ACG's verdict?
Damn. A reviewer who actually goes into technical details and explains why a game and its systems are worthy. Also, this one has jokes. Consider me subscribed.
Are the achievements more user-friendly this time? I really hated how to get most of the gamerscore in the first you had to beat the game without using any powers except blink, not killing anyone except targets and not EVER being detected (SO many checkpoint reloads). Sure it was challenging but it took all the fun out of it, and was such a drawn out process that I was fed up with the game long before finishing my second playthrough (IE the kill anything that moves one).
Really feel bad that they fucked up the PC version of the game..why couldn't they just either use the engine they did for Dis 1 or ID TECH 6 (like Doom was)..makes no damn sense. The red flags by Bethesda withholding the review copies were because of this. I doubt they will be able to fix this port with just a patch, but here's hoping because I LOVED Dishonored 1 and there's a good game underneath the hood here...but bad performance can ruin it big time for me (like it did in Mafia 3 with constant crashes and low fps). Thanks for the review Karak! I'm prolly gonna play Tyranny first and wait for patch on Dis 2 (it's coming tomorrow for me from the retailer).
Darkholow you can't compare the flaws of mafia 3 to this. I have both and mafia doesn't even feel like a finished game. It probably needed years of polish.
Luke Petersen I bought Mafia 3 and slogged through all of those damned rackets to get to the good parts of the game, but in the end it wasn't worth it because the performance problems killed all my hype for it...and this is coming from a massive Mafia fan. Constant crashes that impeded me from finishing side missions and awful performance that I was forced to play with everything on low (ON A DAMNED 980) really soured me on the game. The repetitive gameplay loop was such a bore to go through, but since I bought it off a 3rd party site (GMG) I couldn't refund it.
I didnt know mafia was that bad on a 980...oh well just finished it yesterday...playing on a 1070 btw... I came from a gaming laptop then transitioned into desktop (770M ---> 1070) so you can say that Im pretty good in tolerating frame rate dips...mafia 3 on a 1070 is like 60fps to 44fps recognizable but very playable...what I hated about mafia 3 is being too "cutscene reliant" the story was okay...actually it made me quite sentimental on the whole "you'll feel empty despite killing big bad boss bla bla" but the replayability and gameplay is too bland for me...basically what Im saying is the performance didnt kill all my hype its the gameplay itself then again thats my opinion on that game... I hope this isnt the case in Dishonored 2...I can tolerate frame rate dips maybe from 44-45ish - 60 is ok not ideal but ok...
Just finished this game on PS4 . In 20h campaign encountered 2 bugs where I had to reload previous save. Love the games art style, graphics and sound spot on. Story narrative somewhat on a weaker side but still interesting enough to immerse in to the world of Dishonored. Overall brilliant game and now days this game cost next to nothing, definitely worth buying.
As a huge fan of the Dishonored series, I feel like this review is fair. If you're already a fan of the series, or you're new and really want it, buy it. A lot of people will probably wait for sale. So far I'm on Mission 6 and I really do love the game. One of the most true things you said about the level design is you feel like there is or should be more to do in the missions but there really doesn't seem to be "Its like there's this air of additional layer of interaction that isn't really there." There seemed to be a little more interesting locations/events and more emphasis on exploration in the first Dishonored. There still is some, but at times its slightly underwhelming. But overall, its a blast and I love the series. I haven't been playing very creatively in my first play through. The 2nd play through I'm going to do a lot of exploration and experimenting with different ways to complete the missions and the game.
NIce review. I do disagree with saying Delilah was a "nobody" in the beginning scene. She was probably the most memorable character & villain in the original Dishonored - I mean the 2 DLCs were both focused on her and her story and scheming. In that way I find the opening scene pretty awesome, as Delilah's entrance was really awesome. (And people who played the DLC thoroughly will instantly notice what's going on between Delilah & Emily) Overall I think the biggest hero in making the opening scene good / not appear weird or rushed is the music. The track playing as Delilah enters really delivers. (Before Delilah's entrance there could've been more, though)
I honestly love these "royal trying to regain the throne" stories. They're more original than the classic "benevolent rebels vs super naziesque government
Aw hello. Nearly Every release I was looking forward to in 2016 suffered from technical Issues. Mafia III, Dishonored. I expect Watch_Dogs 2 to be the next shitty port.
Nicolas De Raedt I have hope, latest Ubisoft titles weren't so bad, R6 Siege has a great DLC policy, The Division was 5/10 but ran fine.. Maybe they try a bit harder since this whole Vivendi thing.
I am so glad you are a legitimate reviewer. So many reviews are paid for sponsorships and add a rose tint over every single issue but you tell it like it is. You deserve so many more subs than you already have. Thank you.
Apparently most of the performance issues on PC are caused by the game continuously setting itself to low priority in the task manager. While this hopefully means that a good chunk of the performance issues can be fixed in a fairly quick patch, how the hell did that get through QA?
That's not true, if you alt tab out of the game when it's running and check task manager, then it will be low priority due to the window focus change to task manager. Most games work like this, but people only notice it when they have a problem so think it's the cause.
***** The vast majority of games I've played have remained at medium and high priorities even when I'm not minimized. Moreover, using a program such as Process Lasso to keep it at high priority has increased performance for many people including myself. I'm fairly certain the game is actually set to low priority even while being played.
This is not acceptable devs are focusing on making games on consoles and then porting them to PC! Its holding the development of PC gaming back and shouldnt be like this all games should be made for PC then ported to console!
+Captain Cartman its also terrible since the game itself is not graphically superior to Doom 2016 and a gtx 960 can run it on max settings at 60 fps 1080p
I have been playing all day with almost no issues! The only one I got was Emily turned into a glowing white ghost at one point but it went away. The only real complaint I have is it's more congested compared to 1. More furniture and things in your way. It's good to look at but when you're trying to fight it can get awkward.
Gonna wait for the bargain bin at best. The first one was okay, but it got boring. I'm not a big stealth fan though. I can handle a couple levels here and there, but not a whole game... unless it's Metal Gear.
I'm getting 90-100fps with a 1080ti, 6700k(not overclocked),and 32GB RAM. Of course this is way after release, but just letting PC folks know it runs ok now. Sound is good now, too. Typical Bethesda timeline when it comes to games playing well.
The whole death of the outsider being a whole game for full price kinda seemed like a money hungry move by Bethesda, though I only say this after seeing cd projekt reds idea of dlc with blood and wine where it's basically another half game tacked on, so it's kind of what I compare it to now. That being said I haven't played the DotO yet and I would hope Bethesda wouldn't release another half baked game under the dishonoured name.
Is the non lethal route fun? The problem I had with the first game is that the non lethal route is just not as creative as the lethal route.(where you get to use your powers to its full potential)
this man has replaced angry Joe for me as the reviews I use to purchase games. Very well produced acg.
Gu Wop i only watch angry joe for entertainment, acg is a legit reviewer
Gu Wop In my opinion, Angry Joe has slacked off on his reviews. He tries to sound interesting and informative, but most of it is random mumbo jumbo.
Gu Wop I like him because he gives you enough info to know if you'll like it or not regardless of his recommendation
I get bothered when I watch Angry Joe's videos.
Yup. Dude is more about movie reviews/reactions now.
For anyone watching this in 2019- all texture issues etc are patched, game is smooth as fuck on PC and worth every steam sale penny
Bethesda: wait for the patch and it'll be really good!
Wait for the remastered version in 5 years with mods and it'll be good.
"Wait for fans to fix it."
But wait, the bugs will still be there just like Skyrim.
jlcmiles yeah, Maybe, but compared to skyrim this is made by another studio (Arcane, and not you know, directly from bethesda). So that might not be the case, bu you know, could as likely also be the case.
skyrim is a massive game, so its more tolerable unless you played the steaming pile of shit that was the ps3 version.
The first game is one of my favorite games of all time. I guess I should wait a while.
Thanks for the review.
Ugh I wont go into detail but if you want to know how that game relates to Dishonored, I highly recommend to watch Mark Brown's video "The Comeback of the Immersive Sim | Game Maker's Toolkit"
So besides Gameplay and also the game in general just having a great classy quality to it, the setting ended up inspiring me quite a lot through the years. Specially because I usually help a friend of mine make fantasy worlds for his PnP RPG campaigns.
Javier Sánchez ok cool, maybe ill give dishonored 2 a try
The Last Black Saiyan Oh well I'm waiting for some patches to come out and the like.
I can wait quite a lot, specially because I want to enjoy the game so much.
Thank you for the review. I'm trying to avoid a lot of coverage of this game in fear of spoilers, but I can always trust your reviews.
yep
ACG you originally from the northeast usa? i only heard people speak at your pace in these regions 😆 mainly boston business conventions 😆
Rogerio ur not missing much
my only complaint so far is Corvos voice, he had more power and mystic as a mute
AKN Concept but I wanted him to have a voice
AKN Concept your picture XD faith
Nobody complains about Garrett's voice!
think issue is they just got terrible voice actor for him, yes i know who he is, but they should of gotten someone else has actually done voice work.
what'd you mean "someone else has actually done voice work" ? Stephen Russell has been an voice actor since 1998
The GOTY edition will be fantastic.
Huh this game has technical issues, i guess thats why bethesda changed their review policy's lmao
Exactly
yeah, that line where ACG says "that should have never gotten through in test" made me laugh. like AAA titles go through any testing these days. essentially when you buy a new game, you pay $60 to be a beta tester. months later when games work right, i pick them up on steam at half price.
apparently this game was ready about a month and a half ago and this time was supposed to be for fixing bugs.... looks like that wasn't the case
they do just not great lol
+feelingtardy yes, it does seem like when you buy a game at release you have to let it sit for a few months in order to get it decent working
Wait what!! "16 GB of RAM" hahaha
What does Deus Ex have to do with Bethesda?
I sometimes wonder how you come up with these phrases Karak.....great review as always.
my mind is a universe filter lol
After Patches, this game is easily better than the first game, it does a sequel good.
You sure do work hard, man. Thank you.
thkx
Pre-order to play a day early! = pre-order to test our beta for $60
I don't understand what the point of doing that was. This isn't a competitive online multiplayer game where you want to play it while it's hot.
It's $50, and you get DH1 enhanced edition with all dlc for free.
$75 in Canada.
Angry Toast which I got for my PS4 brand new for £7, huge difference, this looks like it's worth less than £10 itself!
And thank you sir
ashtherion I can only support your comment
Out of interest how many hours do you spend on one title? Because your reviews are so in-depth I don't know where you get the time.
Yep, you've definitely got the best reviews on the entire 'net. Nobody else even comes close.
17 fps on a GTX 1080? And this is the first brand new title Bethesda releases under their anti-consumer review code policy, what a joke.
I know it's hard to make games work for all types of hardware but it seems like Bethesda only managed to make the game properly work on the minority of PC's.
ya just saw a video of someone with a 1080 getting 5 hahahah. Jezuz
nope, 60 fps here at 4k with a gtx 1080. maybe you shouldnt believe someone who spits out more words than eminem in a 5 second rap battle.
The Clockwork Mansion, and broken time level were brilliant levels.
the story is very similar to dishonoured 1, assassin kills people, corvo gets framed, Emily Is captured (the empress or corvo on #2) and you try to find out who killed the people aswell as take out the leader and rescue the other hero
agreed!
Jamie Sturd I love how you're honest on the review keep up the good work
3:25 Kek. The fuck is the guard doing?
www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=kek
Tobias Eisele HAHAHHA man you cracked me up
Means "lol"
He was trying to doing Randy Orton's toe-touch-split.
I guess I learned something new today...kek. :)
A shame. So many games lately that would have been an instant buy if developers simply made sure they worked.
It works great on consoles
Deus ex I thought that ran good
+ Quantum Break
+Saurabh Mazumdar oh yeah I forgot about that at least it wasn't a complete shit fest like arkham knight or just cause 3 god those were some of the worst ports I ever played especially just cause I couldn't even get 10 fps on that shit with a 970 instantly refunded it in 5 minutes lol
+Lou Bloom ew Just Cause 3
I know that slide-stab instakill needs to be fixed, but who's *actually* going to be spamming that in a game that jerks people off for being obsessed with non-lethal ghosting?
I realize not everyone plays that way, but come on. Out of all the ways you can choose to play a Dishonroed game, spamming 1 attack for the entire game should not be one of them.
Neat review as always though! Really hoping they implement some PC fixes fast and that this isn't just another Mafia 3 situation.
Then again what happens hours ago. Videos of folks spamming the slide
_"Still, if you discover that a singleplayer game has a spammable attack..."_
I get your point, but I see things a bit differently.
Serosity I have an amd card. I don't know If there's something similar to this for amd.
I agree that games should be without issues on release... but pre ordering games/buying them on release week and giving them your money just like lots of other people when the majority of games have issues on release is why they won't bother to make the games "issue free" on release. They don't have to because people are lining their pockets regardless of quality. You can just wait and see somebody like ACG's review saying to wait until it gets fixed,
If more people wait for sales, we will have more of a chance at TERRIBLE QUALITY game releases being much less common!
Angry Toast I know especially as a pc gamer it seams that companies just focus all their time on the console version then just rush the pc version leading to really buggy games like Arkan Orgins.
So basically, just get the Game of the Year Edition which will be out next year. I can happily wait...
ShiningT1g3R uncharted 4 is getting game of the year so no just wait for a sale.
The Batter The best games of the year release a goty edition . It doesn't have to be number 1 of that year . Oh and uncharted 4 sucks . It's just an interactive movie .
*In your Opinion it should*
Max Rai I agree. I honestly don't remember most of the story. Rise of the tomb raider on the other hand is a masterpiece in comparison. I'm having so much fun with that game.
not how GOTY editons work lol
and uncharted 4 isn't even that good
I haven't seen this written yet and fairly new to the channel, but you're rhetoric skills are extremely good, Karak. Very much enjoy when you are on Mr.Mattyplays Podcast; I really appreciate the sincerely informed and (at least seemingly) very intellectual approach you take to everything you do.
thanks
Np man, keep at at
exactly my sentiments.
They were acquired by Zenimax in 2010, before they released Dishonored 1. But I get your point. Post-release patches are not the way to go :P
Nite Waander *L*
Arkane had to prove themselves and a game like Dishonored had been in the works far longer, now they don't.
space delete we all wish you were either educated or crash. your grammar is awful and poorly represents the intellect of the human race as much as you think day 1 consumers are bad for video games.
the console versions are fine, I just got done playing the ps4 version and I barely encountered any bugs and glitches. Sure there are sometimes, heads going through a wall or AI doing some weird shit but not too crazy. PC version is another story though.
Does Dishonoured 2 have new game plus with all your previous unlocks. I think that was something that was missing in Dishonoured.
No. I don't think it needs it though
Totally Markiplier it definitely needs it
Dishonored was never a grind despite not having the NG+ and not having all your already acquired skills...though honestly you replay it for the "fun" factor...so hampering those already acquired skills made it a little tasking...lets just say this is more of an improvement suggestion than a "must" have feature...w3 was able to add NG+ I hope the devs listen more this time...:D
***** oh, I get what you mean
DLA Graphical Not only that but the mission menu is missing. Wtf were they thinking.
Again, thorough AF.
Keep it up man ;)
thanks
Glad I watched this. Loved dishonored 1 but will wait until this one gets patched. Severely.
Considering how well the original one was hyped, and how long took this one to develop, it was even a long time after the first trailer of this one release, it actually surprising that this title was so unprepared when first released.
So glad I pre-ordered the collectors edition when it was announced, never had any issues on ps4.
What does ACG stand for now? is it still angry centaur gaming?
Air Conditioning Guy
Winston Ying, Anus Clap Gang.
Actual Cool Guy
Winston Ying Angry Clit Grab
Damn, was not expecting a review this fast. You must bust your ass playing through games that fast. Appreciate the effort.
Nah just sit back and play lol
ACG love how ign got the game first and still haven't created a review
Haha I guess I meant mentally bust your ass. Probably have to play for 4-6 hour chunks at a time.
I like games a ton too
They seem so fucking lazy, it's unbelievable. Reviews in progress and shit.
The guards at the beggining are Karnaka guards and bribed guards, you can find notes from Ramsey for guards
I subbed. These are the most informative reviews i've ever watched.
I found that in some areas when in stealth mode I couldn't smoothly move under something, super annoying
ya same
Great review btw forgot to mention that!
This guy is my favorite reviewer these days. Good job dude!
I agree with the sound and the graphical issues, I hope they fix them. It's really bothersome since I'm not using dark vision and I navigate based on sound.I've been spotted so many times because I thought the enemies were further away. Other than that it's a blast to have a solid stealth experience in a genre that seems to be dying out.
me to
How did you manage to upload a full review that fast? I mean, it's even official now that Bethesda sends out their review copies only one day before the games actually release. So even i got my review copy just yesterday afternoon.
I just play the game and talk. Its pretty easy. Its not a huge or overly long game either.
Oh, ok. I'm a reviewer myself (only german and for written reviews) and just wondered how fast you got through the game cause i just started it. Anyway, thanks for the reply, i love your videos and wish my review-style was as fluent as yours. Keep up the great work.
you bet. I see 11 other reviews prior to mine with completions so just assuming folks are sitting down and playing hard.
Because Karak refuses to sleep.
"Like everyone shows up to an ass-kicking contest but you have 3 legs, and no ass". That is the most amazing description I've ever heard about the importance of sound hahaha. Never change Karak, never change...
thanks Vidler!
Excellent review, I got it on a good sale and it turns out that it just had a major patch (2nd patch infact) that seems to address a lot of issues. Thanks for the upload.
thanks
The issue with the controls is infuriating. The center dead zone is huge, the look acceleration is absurd. It's like Halo 5 before 343i patched in the option to adjust both, which basically fixed Halo 5's controls. Arkane needs to do the same.
this channel is the new "goto" channel for me. love these reviews, they are incredibly entertaining!
On the original ps4, I had little to no issues. The footsteps are kinda misleading but in all honesty I never used them anyways because of dark vision. I had an absolute blast playing it
thats awesome man
ThePartyBoss24 it was shit for me
I agree about the intro, played it earlier today and it felt strangely rushed, like it was meant to be a little more drawn out but some bits were cut out
ya what the hell was doing on
Allways the first, always the best. This is a hard working man.
thanks bro
Just finished my GOTY stuff and sent a shoutout to you for being the only reviewer I saw mention the slide move. Hopefully at least one of the 5 or so people that actually watch it will come your way!
You seriously need to have more subscribers! Great reviews. 👌
GOTY for me.
thats good!
If I ever get a boat, I'm calling it "How does she float?" Great review as usual.
lol
03:40 when she twists the blade in her hand, wtf is that motion blur?
agreed
ACG
Do you know if it's like that every time? Even when motion blur is off?
Now THIS feels like a Bethesda game!
Because it has a lot of bugs?
Rogerio yes
Paul Staker well, they do have a lot of points, but skyrim special edition set the new standard, when they linked fps with the physics engine.
elliot lemon ha ha
there's got to be a reason
I don't think Bethesda would actually purposefully gimp there own game
bethesda didnt make it, arkane studios did.
Grayson Guice I wanna buy the game but does the update or the recent update fixes the framerate
Grayson Guice and what about the frame rate and how stable is it
on ps4 its always at 30 and doesnt drop
You must be the most dedicated reviewer out there! The fact that you´re before anyone else and make the videoes long and informative is a marvel! A shame you aren´t one of the biggest reviewers on this site
appreciate that
hey ACG is there a new game plus mode after you beat the game. can you start a new game with your upgrades???
the whole slide and slaughter move was also in dishonored 1 and i spammed that when i was doing mostly flesh and steel on hard. another move i used all the time (not on flesh and steel) was double jumping and landing on a guard's head to disorientate them or to drop assissante someone (even tho i was like half a foot above his head)
ya
Was waiting for this to make my decision, and I guess I'll wait. Performance issues frustrate me to no end. Thanks!
Ethan Richardson I have it and I have 0 performance issues
CrashingCoyote On ps4, xbox or pc?
if you own a PC then you might have to wait until patches roll out but if you are planning on getting for the consoles, buy it asap!
Seems more and more likely unless it's an online game you gotta play with your friends, it's just better to wait (often until the GOTY/Complete edition... because then you end up with all the DLC content and tons of time for them to patch the game to full functionality.)
Sure you usually gotta wait a year, but damn there are so many great games (despite issues) constantly coming out over the last few years its not that hard to do once you get in the pattern of purchasing that way.
Nicolas De Raedt dishonered 1 had three dlc how do you figure this is gonna have more your overly pestimistic
Lee Worley I'm in no rush to buy. If I wait a year, I get the the year one edition, or at least a massive discount
Nicolas De Raedt if you want to support a good dev team this yeat than Respawn is your man. they made titanfall 2 and have said all dlc and future content is free and their approach to patch notes is very interesting. also Rainbow six Siege is a good game as well.
I absolutely love the takedown animations in this game. Lets hope the melee combat in ES6 is as good as this, if not better.
glad I found this channel also I loved the three leg joke. Usually your jokes are corny but ill give you that one.
appreciate that
i thought that daud kills billy lurk in the knife of dunwall dlc? wtf
What I also find astounding is that Bethesda have just posted about the PC issues basically saying 'have you checked the system requirements?' I saw that and winced, obviously a little mushroom cloud just appeared over the steam forums :)
Tech problems aside I'm loving the game, the mission Clockwork Mansion especially is just exquisite. Anyways, cheers for getting your review out so fast Karak, I'm sure you will save people lots of money.
Rigged for Epic your the second person in 10 comments that said this was running like shit on a 980. Wtf? I mean seriously wtf. There isn't an excuse for this shit.
man this sucks
Corey Lindgren They have said a patch is in the works so we shall see what they come up with. I still think Bethesda have come across almost in denial about this, yet the way I see it they must have known about these problems before release.
+Rigged for Epic the thing is, if you were careful like me you could have known about this in advance. The system requirements were a big red flag that something was wrong.
I review PC games so I need to get the game anyway but I take your point about the system requirements being a sign. I have to say though, from a dev like Arkane this caught me off guard being their so well versed in PC development.
How does it run on your rig?
so i bought dishonored 2, shadow of mordor and call of duty infinite warfare in a sale: all three for 50 dollar. Was this a good deal?
I really wanted to preorder this game, but I waited for your review, thanks man!
I didn't want to watch bc spoilers. I've paid ZERO attention to this game. I haven't watched a single trailer. I LOVED the first game. Whats ACG's verdict?
"Wait for a sale."
Thanks!
"Wait for a sale until technic problems are fixed"
Damn. A reviewer who actually goes into technical details and explains why a game and its systems are worthy.
Also, this one has jokes. Consider me subscribed.
thanks man
your reviews are fantastic.
sadly, the PC port is horrific
Amit Kalderon it is , but in consoles it's pretty good , but easily could be fixed , i think this game is pretty good
I got the game day one but I waited for the patch.. I finished Friday night and it's better Han Dishonored 1. Keep up the good work my friend.
Finally a upload from you 😁 are you going to do a review for PS4 pro? Ima buy it anyway but just asking
Steven Day can you spell did you mean to say peasent ?
Dude don't it's a buggy game and you're only support Bethesda and their shitty policies.
Zenith Wills All Bethesda games are buggy... He can buy it if he wants, it's a fun game. APB Reloaded is a shit game but it's fun.
Jack Gardere That's not a good thing. And still it's good to protest.
TheRustiestPunk Oh didn't see that thanks.
It's getting to the point where I just watch your videos to hear all the hilarious yet spot on analogies and references lol
lol thanks
Thanks karak, great as always
you bet
Luke Petersen
I bought Mafia 3 and slogged through all of those damned rackets to get to the good parts of the game, but in the end it wasn't worth it because the performance problems killed all my hype for it...and this is coming from a massive Mafia fan.
Darkholow you had to play on low on a 980 wtf?
Corey Lindgren
Yup and I would still get 45fps during driving sections in the open world at sub 1080p resolution.
Overall brilliant game and now days this game cost next to nothing, definitely worth buying.
man acg reviews are so good
thanks
Bugthesda released a bug infested game? Color me surprised.
Not developed by Bethesda only published. Last time I checked Doom wasn't buggy
The Developer is Arkane Studios.
lol
Love your reviews. Websites like GameSpot don't tell you the whole story. Zero mention of performance issues or bugs in GameSpot's review
sup Lizard! Thanks man
Thank god i waited before buying, thanks for the review as usual!
indeed
I'm not sure if the lag in the background is intentional when looking at the weapon wheel
no. It just sucks
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who cringed at the beginning scene
ya so odd
Michael Brown Yeah pretty terrible storytelling if you ask me, seems like this game was rushed to come out in 2016.
(Before Delilah's entrance there could've been more, though)
it was just a comedic note on the situation.
I honestly love these "royal trying to regain the throne" stories. They're more original than the classic "benevolent rebels vs super naziesque government
How did you get this out so fast with the new review copy policy? Maybe get some physical copies early? :)
:)
+John Coulter... Don't you see ACG's beard?...He's God!...He's already playing Elder Scrolls 6 for Christ sakes...
I love it. You are among my top 2 or 3 reviewers anyway, and to have the up-front low-down is wonderful.
Aw hello. Nearly Every release I was looking forward to in 2016 suffered from technical Issues. Mafia III, Dishonored. I expect Watch_Dogs 2 to be the next shitty port.
It's Ubisoft, of course it will be buggy
Nicolas De Raedt I have hope, latest Ubisoft titles weren't so bad, R6 Siege has a great DLC policy, The Division was 5/10 but ran fine.. Maybe they try a bit harder since this whole Vivendi thing.
inspectorchicken I hope for your sake you're right.
inspectorchicken
I'd bet all the money in the world that 'Watch Dogs 2' will have a ton of issues, on top of that shitty Season Pass. It's Ubisoft, after all.
I am so glad you are a legitimate reviewer. So many reviews are paid for sponsorships and add a rose tint over every single issue but you tell it like it is. You deserve so many more subs than you already have. Thank you.
THANKS SPREAD THE WORD
3:28 That guy just jumped 18 steps of stairs to kill you. HAHAHA wow they really want you dead!
I liked the rating, definitely waiting for sale. That's most games for me since there are so many coming out.
Maybe the test PC was upside down? ;) *joke*
***** well im only 16 not the smartest kid on the block
Geets Gaming no that's not how it should be like the guy above said do some research on developing
Max Cohan So it shouldnt be devs focusing on consoles and releasing shit ports on PC?
I really love the fact you uploaded the video in 1440p, great stuff!
GTX 1080 at 17fps....wow... what is wrong with these PC ports lately....
Captain Cartman Processor, ram?
Was repeating what the reviewer stated. a GTX 1080 can drop as low as17fps... that's terrible considering how expensive that GPU is.
Lol i thought he said 70fps XD my bad
+Captain Cartman its also terrible since the game itself is not graphically superior to Doom 2016 and a gtx 960 can run it on max settings at 60 fps 1080p
game runs great now. as expected...
I have been playing all day with almost no issues! The only one I got was Emily turned into a glowing white ghost at one point but it went away. The only real complaint I have is it's more congested compared to 1. More furniture and things in your way. It's good to look at but when you're trying to fight it can get awkward.
hahaha Would have paid to have seen that glowing orb
lol it was pretty weird
its bethesda though it's always buggy. At least it's not game breaking for me.
You can't expect everybody to be like CDPR. They are... like prophets.
Doto was 30 bucks....
Is the non lethal route fun?
The problem I had with the first game is that the non lethal route is just not as creative as the lethal route.(where you get to use your powers to its full potential)
it is
Thanks, great review!
the game looks outdated, I think I'll wait for the deep discount
ya
Can someone explain this to me; how are there 2000 reviews of Dishonored 2 on Steam already when the game isn't available for download yet?
its region locked
ACG Explains a lot lol.
