Tissot all the way. Longine while has the history they make the say, "a brand name is worth more than a bag of gold," very true. They are great designs but awkward specs. Tissot has always designs and value. More of a modern look and style. Just my opinion.

Longines, even with quartz outweighs Tissot. Never prefer the best house of a tier 3 neighborhood (Tissot here), over a basic house of an established neighborhood. The fineness of workmanship in Longines is way above the best product of Tissot. My 2cents
Quartz movement is a battery right? Im sorry just getting into watches, only ones i own are Diesels and looking to get a great allround watch for 500-1000.
I opted for the 34mm ("ladies size") Conquest in quartz and never looked back. With a 300m water resistance rating in a quartz - that's a good spec if you want a set and forget watch.

This is an apples to oranges comparison. A better comparison would be the 39mm auto longines conquest vs tissot gentleman auto.
If that was the L888 movement in the Longines, it wouldn't be a fair matchup. Auto vs auto Longines is far superior
Longines with auto is much more expensive so that match up would make no sense. Quartz is in the same price range as Tissot so in my opinion it's perfect comparison.

I have the blue Tissot Gentleman PM80. And I consider to get a Longines Conquest automatic. But I will choose the black.

Same. I have the blue Tissot Gentleman on a leather strap and just today pulled the trigger on a black 41mm Conquest Automatic on a bracelet. Can't wait to get my hands on that beauty.
Quartz movement cannot be compared with automatic movement mind you.

Agreed, the Tissot Gentleman Quartz has lower quality indices and no date frame compared to the P80 shown here. A good comparison for case size and bracelet but not for dial architecture.
If I buy one of these, I will definitely put contemporary silicone strap, or I will get the 41mm. Conquest with clean blue strap
The Longines is just too big. Soo wish they did the Conquest quartz in 39mm. The Tissot is too dressy. Thinking about selling my Traska Summiteer black and replacing with quartz.
At the same price point, Tissot will be the better watch because you pay more for the Longines name.

I think the quality is very similar. But the powermatic 80 of Tissot may be better than the movement in Longines automatic version.

I wonder here: how to define quality of a movement? Is it how long it lasts? Is it how accurate it is? Or is it how good it looks for the eye?
Also I wonder: is the movement used in Longines anti-magnetic like Powermatic 80?
