    Great points and outlook. I am so far removed from „The Culture“ because I have been so obscured from it (not always by choice). I choose to walk my own path because it makes me happy. What you said here resonates. It is so important that we remove ourselves from a mentality that we must work to die; live to work. As I transition from my career to my new business, it no longer becomes work because it is becoming a labour of love and contentment. 💪🏾🚚

    As a woman in my 50s now who has worked so hard still to not be a millionaire but just to make it, I so resonate with your message. I destroyed my health in the process of taking care of the world and neglecting myself. This is why black women will be at the forefront of the next era. In my experience black women are the main ones who proudly forged their own identity and dgaf what anyone has to say. This is billed as having a bad attitude, but guess what? I have adopted this attitude and it’s what allowed me to finally be free. Society is fake bs. I make my own rules. I also hope more black people look into chaos magic, jazz and funk music. Those arts are about breaking the rules and recreating them to produce a masterpiece. I played jazz and funk and that’s why I also love trap. You can literally talk about whatever you want, rap sing mumble whatever and it still sounds great. Great concepts about how to create your own rules to benefit yourself and others.

I got to a point where I was only taking temp contract jobs so I can work 3 to 6 mos and collect unemployment the rest of the time. Beautifully spoken. I worked for two years 60 hours per week and isolated myself to save up money. I worked a minimum wage job but was working so many hours I hardly had energy to find something else. I neglected my looks, ate fast food, and did everything to save a penny (all in the name of saving money). For two years I lived without furniture in my apartment. I was so miserable I almost slipped back into a deep depression. I cried DAILY. I met my ex who ended up showing me how toxic I was being to myself. My mind was all over the place and I was starting to become very mean to myself. I realized my mistakes, and started to love myself more. I stopped working so hard and focused more on looking inwards to create opportunities. Those years you work yourself will NEVER come back. And one catastrophe can knock over your sandcastle. BUSINESS AND INVESTING is so important!

    I'm literally struggling with this right now. I let my 9-5 go to focus on my mental health, freedom and building the life of my dreams without feeling tied down. I wanted more room to focus on me and create on my own time (I dream of being a published author), but right now I feel like I'm going through a season of feeling really low. I know what I need to do, but I've just been on pause and because I'm not working as much or as hard as I was on previous jobs, I don't feel like I deserve a break, the life I want, or any luxuries. I feel so lazy and unmotivated now. Physically my body is ready to do the work, but mentally I talk myself out of it--like I need rest even if I haven't done anything for the day. I'm trying to get myself out of this way of thinking, but it's so haaaaard! I want to be able to take a break, build the easy, successful and fulfilled like I want and not feel lazy or unworthy for doing so. I keep telling myself there is more to life than money and materialistic things but it's always that other little voice ....

    • @AleciaRenece
      @AleciaRenece  2 роки тому +20

      First of all, I celebrate you for prioritizing your mental health above all else. I'm sending you so much love today! I believe in your dreams and I KNOW they're going to come true, for sure! It's okay to be in a low energy season. Don't force yourself to be anywhere that you aren't. Mental health and rest are so necessary on your creative journey, and your over all well being. Take your time, don't feel rushed to go all in right now. You are NOT lazy. You never could be. Your body and mind are telling you that they need to rest, and you're doing the right thing by listening to them. I totally understand you. It is hard to reprogram your mind to actually have grace with yourself. We've been taught that if we're not always producing that we're lazy. That's not true. You are not a machine. You're a woman. A Living, breathing holy human being in need of rest and recuperation. Start small. Giver yourself 5 minutes to sit and not do anything. Then work up to ten minutes, then 15, then 30... Rest takes practice. Trust me, I know. Be gentle with yourself. Ease into rest and soon you'll be giving yourself permission to just be. Much love and joy!

    Young Sista, you are a “Breath of fresh air” and way ahead of your time in your thought process. The reason I say this is because I’m 63 (almost 64) and I didn’t figure this out until 12 years ago that this 9 to 5 hustle & grind is all part of the matrix. You’ve figured it out while you still have youth. I commend you for that. I opted out of the grind in late 2020 and took an early retirement. With that said. The “ Real test “ began due to a huge reduction in income and having to live off of a 1/3 of what I had before, however, I’m not looking back. Let me just add, now that I’m “FREE” it’s a double sided sword so to speak because, now I feel like “what do I do to survive” ?. We’re so accustomed to working for someone else , ensuring they’re rich, until we have difficulty figuring out how to financially provide for ourselves. Like yourself I’m into songwriting & singing but pursued it mostly as a hobby. I now have the time to pursue it FT and to figure out how to make it lucrative . My apologies for being long winded ,however , I’m happy to have found your page ( just a few days ago) and I’m a new subbie. By the way, I love your voice & music. Looking forward to joining some of your lives 💜💜💜

    This is easier said than done. As a 9-5ver transitioning into a full-time entrepreneur I'm always working in some sort of way. It's hard to rest and genuinely be at peace when you're stressed over finances and bills. I don't think people have bought into hustle culture but I do believe that inflation is causing everyone to overwork themselves just to stay afloat. Especially for those of us who cannot call friends/family for help with anything.

    My main goal has been to get more clients...more more more. I'm at a point now of just maintaining the client's we have because It's so hard for me to find employees and I really understand why. Like who the hell wants to work so hard? It's a mindgame to make people think they want to WORK!

When I first found it uncomfortable, I thought I was lazy. But when I really thought about it, I’m not lazy, I’m blessed to where I don’t have to work myself to death. Let me tell you something. It's so REFRESHING to see a BLACK WOMAN talk about having a life of ease as a black creative. I get sooooo annoyed seeing on tiktok, IG, youtube women talk about how to earn 50k in 30 days. How to make 10k months selling digital products etc. I get sooo tired of this hustle culture and the obsession with 6 figures. I remember you said in another video if you make 30k thats successful. It based on what works for your lifestyle. It's not a lot of black creatives talking about not hustling. Everything is about hustling and it's rooted in oppression. Because let's be real if hustling/grinding was the real answer then our parents/grandparents.. hell ancestors would be multi-millionaires. So, thank you so much for the work that you do and the perceptive that you bring to UA-cam. It's so needed! Because I'm not buying anymore classes, coaching sessions, workshops on how to make money. I'm just going to continue to take inspired action and learn from my process. I don't want to be a millionaire. I just want to create and get paid for my art. I don't want to be a slave to money. I also don't want to chase what other people deem as successful.

    I so agree. The world tells us that if we don’t reach certain pinnacles we’re not successful, it was a waste of a life. I’ve come to the realization that if I don’t become a millionaire one day, I’ll be okay with that. If I don’t have a brand new Audi, I’ll be okay with that. I’ve stopped equating my worth to the things that I can get and shifted it towards the experiences that I want. The owner of a Honda and the owner of a Maybach are both going in the ground one day…it really doesn’t matter. Enjoy your life.

    I'm black and in my 50s; I was blessed to have a mentor who fearlessly questioned the notion of "You have to work twice as hard to get half as much" and called it out for the bullshit it was in an era where it was worn as a badge of honor. This isn't a new conversation, but it's great that the generation below me is running with it. I don't think anybody wants to look back on their lives and realize that it was all striving with no moments actually being enjoyed.
    I don't quite understand people who are getting offended by her message, but if your automatic thought is "so she wants us all to live on the streets and be broke", ask yourself why you believe that hustle culture and abject poverty are the only choices.

I was working so many hours, taking day and some night shift 2 times out of the week and that took me away from my kids. So I decided to work from home and guess what those hours were crazy too! I couldn’t even be mom when my kids got home because I was taking back to back calls until 7pm. I didn’t feel like talking to my one by the time I clocked out due to talking all day and those work from home call center jobs will destroy your mental health and destroy what your home is meant to be (your peace and place of decompression) My children hated it all! I was truly scared I was going to end up homeless again. Shoot I made more money and had more time with my kids selling food plates and making my treats. Eventually I’m going to move out of the country and leave Americas fake American dream and all of it’s pressures.

    For an "ENTREPRENEUR" success does not come without an extreme amount of hustle and grinding...for anybody! The truth is, entrepreneurs are "Born" not made, regardless of race. Entrepreneurs spend enormous amounts of time, energy and expertise, often spending many years building their businesses. It only looks easy from the outside. Most people were not born to go hard 16-20 hour days. The average "employee" can barely make it through an 8 hour day...Amen? But, nowadays everyone with a cell phone, a laptop and a couple hundred dollars stashed away wants to invest into becoming a CEO, and will give away all of their money trying to learn the "secrets" from internet scam artists. My advise to the average person...Keep your day job, get those benefits, your days off, your vacations, and enjoy a wonderful retirement when the time comes. That's how the system was built. If you want a side-hustle, go for it...but don't walk away from you steady just because some person on the internet told you that you won't amount to anything if you don't. On a more important note, "Alecia", if you found you're not built to be an entrepreneur, it's ok...most people aren't (including other races) But, please, do not say that we as a race are not built to hustle and grind and be entrepreneurs. All of us can not be entrepreneurs, but neither can all whites, Asians or Latinos. To say African-Americans specifically can't achieve on that level is not true, first of all. Secondly, it is actually a kind of racist thing for you (or anybody else) to say. Entrepreneurship is VITAL to our community. We need to be Job Creators so that we can hire from among our people. We can't fall to depending on other people to hire us, and our friends and our family members. That is not what Black Excellence is about. I'm just sayin!

    • @AleciaRenece
      @AleciaRenece  2 роки тому +2

      You obviously missed thr point everything I said. Lol. It's not about entrepreneurship at all... I'm really confused by your comment... You're off based and you seem a little triggered by what I said. I am an entrepreneur. I don't get it... Also, any entrepreneur will tell you that you need to take care of your mental health. And this system only exists because we allow it too... The system is failing. It's oppressive. Its literally built off of our enslaved ancestors... I refuse to uphold that system. We're obviously not gonna agree (and that's okay) because I don't even believe in Black Excellence. We're excellent because we exist. I literally made a video about that. It's slave theology. Free yourself. We can employ our people without having to hustle and grind. Black folks been doing that for hundreds of years and have nothing to show for it. This system was not created for us to thrive. It's time to consider a different way of life. If you want to work hard, go for it. I don't. I'm not interested. That's a ticket to an early grave. No thanks.

    This video hits home so much to me and I'm going to tell you why? I lost my mum in February 2022, she was somewhat a workaholic, I think a part of it was fear of not having money to buy stuff that she wanted when she wanted as she was somewhat fancy (home decor and all). Now it breaks my heart to share, giveaway, and sell so much beautiful stuff of hers and this makes what Life truly means Slap me in my Face. Now I've not only decided to relocate in a year and a half or so but to also be a minimalist in every area of my life, I am learning so much as a result of her death it's frightening. So you are right is there truly a reward to Hustle and Grind culture and how many of us are Physically if any at all able to enjoy the fruits of it. Awesome video.

    Very important topic in my opinion especially when in our times it is all about Hustling, Grinding, Making it big.
    We tend to follow trends unconsciously most of the time and it is very important we self reflect and see why should we do things one way or another. Any positive movement or idea that becomes a trend can lose it's essence if we forget why we started doing it in the first place. I like how you gave the thrift shop and RV examples. I noticed that in minimalism culture where people forgot the reason behind it is to simplify ones life and instead they got to such extreme they over complicated it again.
    Comparison is the biggest thief of joy and I think Hustle Culture doesn't help either. How many of us have started something and compared our selves to someone that does it better, works more, grinds? And we end up feeling lazy, not good enough, talentless, worthless. And since when does acquiring more material goods equals happiness and inner contentment? We are programmed from day 1 in school how we should be productive and give to the community. How to be responsible, be on time, be obedient, goal driven, number 1 at what we do. I am sure all of these do come in handy in our lives but...
    What about us giving to our selves? Learning that our worth isn't dependent on how good we are at our job, our social status, our economical status. No we don't have to learn any of that. Our souls by default know it. We are just conditioned to believe otherwise along the way.
    (Edit: and seriously? Are we really brought into this world to work our selves back out of it? Or are we here to experience life?
    Love how you said , we choose to hustle our selves back in the ground. )
    Don't hustle. Work on your self(inner work, self love and acceptance) and define in what you find happiness regardless of what you have been taught.
    I remember watching on of Baba Mooji's videos where he speaks about how we dont really need a purpose to live our lives and be happy . We are worthy by default

      @Beatuiful mil I agree that a lot of the world does not operate like that, but I think we have to address that we were indoctrinated and forced to work and hustle... literally for free. And we didn't buy into it, it was kind of forced on us. We didn't have a choice. But now we do. And the world we live in IS the "Western world". And the Western world is very hustle and grind focused, exploiting the labor of other people. It's sad, but it's true. I hope that makes sense.

    This definitely resonates. I didn't have the words for why I didn't want to work my business anymore, I didn't have the words for why I was so physically spiritually exhausted until I just stopped. It is now the 7th month of doing nothing. I deserve this and I love it. I Loveth your content😁

      Yeeeeeeeeeees! You definitely deserve. There is this lie spread about chasing joy and contentment, but all of that comes from inside. We have to choose it. In this culture, there is never enough. There's always more. Always. I'm so glad that you chose yourself. 💛🤗 Much love, joy and rest to you! You are worthy!

    I work Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday are for me. Not going to work my self over and loose time for myself. Not interested in being a millionaire, I buy most things cash and I save. Love to travel and appearance wise, I'm what you call dull, mentally and emotionally I'm at peace.

    Hey Sis! I totally agree! My ego self wants to stay in corporate America in HR. But the reality is my true self wants to be a creator! I love painting, freely dancing, skating, reading, eating fresh fruits. I don’t want to wear a blazer n pointed pumps. I want to wear natural fiber clothing, linen dresses, silk caftans, super sexy cowboy boots and gold sandals to show off my pedicure. I want to wear my waist beads, I want to loc my hair. I’m just tired of having to separate myself.
    I am halfway there. I actually live in my car and feel like I’m on a crossroads. Do I go back to corporate or do I get my natural hair license recertification and start creating in all avenues? I know that’s what I want to do. Last night I had a discussion with a friend and I told her I realized that I had attached my goals and dreams to a job. It’s like I could see visions of wonderful experiences but some how I always attached it to a job. I think I know what I need to do. I appreciate this message. I’m happy to see more black women putting down the cape and really trying to live the best life according to us💜✨

    I agree with you 100% especially on the thrifting. I can honestly say it’s because of social media especially TikTok. These trends are constantly thrown in our faces and sometimes we let it get to us and we feel as if we have to be like everyone else or at the same pace and position as them.

    I agree. I walked away from a job because of the office politics and the nonsense. I took a big cut in pay but I am good and not regretting my decision.

    It’s 2:30 in the morning, I have deep insomnia and I literally just typed into UA-cam search “improve my own quality of life black woman” and your video popped up. I appreciate every single point you made and it’s really great to know that I’m not crazy and I’m not the only one who feels this way. Thanks to you and the Nap Bishop of the Nap Ministry, my perspectives are being affirmed and also enhanced. Thank you!
