At the beginning when you said “I like upbeat music and she makes that” I though “Oh you are so wrong, kind sir” 😂
Yes I also always have cleaning dust in my eyes when I listen to this song
It’s Billie but she’s dressed in a wig and she’s representing Barbie. Billie and her brother wrote this song for the Barbie movie, so if you take the lyrics in the context of Barbie, a doll that is purchased for other people’s enjoyment, and her boyfriend (Ken) isn’t made to listen to her deep, dark feelings etc. After writing this song from Barbie’s view, Billie listened to what they had written and realized it was also exactly how she was feeling in her life too. She and her brother, Finneas, just won their 2nd Oscar with this song. Their first was for their James Bond 007 theme song called No Time To Die.
Also, all the little outfits she’s hanging up from the Barbie case are replicas of some of Billie’s actual outfits she’s worn to events and red carpet appearances.
Awesome, thank you for the comment!
Always start with official Billie videos
I love your reaction
thankyouu for reacting to pop stuff im 13 and its so cool to see older ppl reacting to our music and stuff and having fun 😀
Once down the Billie Eilish rabbit hole you won't believe the Billie world's she will take you to.
Thanks hope you feel better
Try Bury a friend / When the party's over / Bellyache / you should see me in a crown / ( vertical version only)
This is from the Barbie movie of course, but the lyrics goes beyond that and touches alot of women and the struggle they go through. The life they anticipate as a young girl sometimes doesn’t work out the way it’s supposed to or it should and you slowly lose yourself and don’t know what your purpose is other than to raise children and you get no help even doing that from your partner.. you are controlled and mentally abused so you lose yourself in your own little world and you hope that one day you can find your way out of that.. it’s depressing..
Thank you kat, Hun I got this video all wrong lol, but I reacted to it to what I felt it meant, sorry for getting it wrong and I'm sorry to any other viewers for getting it wrong. I judged it as I saw it.
@@daolman8226You didn't get it wrong. I just saw a girl on youtube sing this on street musician Guitaro5000's site and had no idea. So I just watched the same video you did and realized those were like Barbie doll clothes, I wondered if this was a song from the new Barbie movie and sure enough.
Anyway, I balled like a baby listening to the words. Yeah old lady 62 here.❤😢
WOW. Big Billie fan here. One of THE BEST reactions I've seen about Billie's song for the Barbie movie. It's sad but she has Hope. Is she Barbie as a product you buy, is she Billie a musician you buy records of. Your reaction shows exactly why Billie and her brother Finneas won the Grammy and an Oscar for this song. It resonates for us all. And she is only 22! Thank you, You Da Man!!!!!!!....
Thank you soo much! I had no clue it was for the Barbie movie lol. I was way off but to me it felt like a woman trying to figure life out or maybe having a hard time in her life, so it really hurt my heart for her and all women in that position.
What a beautiful song. She has an incredible range in her music. Also fantastic live performer. You could also watch her perform this at the oscars it's on her channel.
The version on the Oscars channel includes her shocked reaction to the standing ovation, the crowd tearing up like crazy, and Finneas giving her a huge hug. I really think the Oscars version is the best live performance I've seen of the song.
I'm a billie superfan..have been for the past 4 to 5 years. I’m an older dude too. Maybe not quite as up there as you though 😄 figured I’d start with that.
A little bit of info about this song/video. The song was made for the Barbie movie and was supposed to be “Barbie’s heart song” as Greta Gerwig (director and writer of the movie) said she wanted.
So seeing Billie hanging up little doll sized versions of outfits she's actually worn in the past? That was a nice touch. She even takes out a miniature crown (from the you should see me in a crown spider video). And she seems content hanging all those outfits up. And then some kind of earthquake happens and knocks some stuff down. And then the wind and rain really set in and everything she sets up kind of falls apart and she gets frustrated. Is it a metaphor for her life falling apart? Or maybe her trying to hold on to the past? Trying to uphold the older image of herself? But realizing that maybe it's time to let the past go? So she packs it all up and walks away. BUT, she does come back for something. So maybe she's going to let the past go. but never forget it. Moving on to the next chapter of her life. But it also ties into the movie. Billie said she originally wrote it for the movie. But then a couple days after finishing the song.. she said she was in her car with a friend listening to it, and then realized that every single word explained how she felt, and that she subconsciously wrote this about herself. Billie has battled depression, and even thoughts of suicide, and she still does have bouts of depression, but she pushes through it. There is something special about her and the music she makes with her brother Finneas. He is an excellent producer/musician/writer/singer himself. But Billie style is different than most singers out there. That’s what I believe. She has the ability to convey true, real, and raw emotion through her music. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cried, listening to her music. Songs like “I love you”, “the 30th” and even this one. They just tug at your heart strings and make you FEEL.
This was one take. Billie came up with the concept and also directed it herself.
Love this comment ❤
@@kat7797 thank you 🙏🏼
Very wholesome reaction!
Thank you very much for reacting to this topic, the film itself talks a lot about feminism and empowerment, but this song not only covers what women go through or suffer, but in general, no matter your sex, all of us at some point have been able to Go through situations like this, without any direction in which we go through our lives, lost, and many times not understood.
You are saying her name correctly 😊
Id love to see more billie eilish reactions!!!
Yes, it was made for Barbie, but Billie cuts across so many things. This song, I think, especially hits adults and the older among us. Crazy powerful and profound.
This song really touched my heart, Did not know it was for a movie but the message I got from it made me feel for those women out there who are going through allot in life. Thank you for the comment!
Billie Eilish became famous for making sad songs since her beginning of her career. She sometimes argue with her brother (producer) because she actually hates making pop or upbeat songs but she has to
More Billie pls :D
“High tempo exciting music” so I guess you’ve seen Bad Guy only? That song is actually more of an outlier in its “fun”-ness. Her oeuvre is usually gut wrenching or badass.
More Billie pleeeaaasssseeeee
She also directed the video.
Oh wow, That's awesome, thanks for the info.
I think this hit you exactly like it was supposed to.
Good reaction. Love your accent.
It from the barbie soundtrack
LOL I did not know that. wow, I kinda feel silly now, but is it true that allot of women take this song to another level? Cause I did as a man and it touched me.
@@daolman8226it is true.. you gave the perfect reaction.. ❤️
react to young and beautiful by lana del rey please ❤
The outfits that she is hanging are outfits she has worn in past shows or videos.
If you would like to analyze a singer with an extraordinary range and voice control, I would highly recommend listening to also DOROTA OSIŃSKA ❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
Let the recommendation be a post by someone under the video of Dorota Osińska's performance written in French:
❣❣=> eng. “I'd been told that she sings better than Lara [Fabian], so I thought it was a joke, but she kicks ass!”❣❣
(fr. "On m'avait dit elle chante mieux que Lara [Fabian], j'ai cru à une blague, mais elle déchire").
Dorota Osińska is a master of sound jumping on the scale during singing (I don't know what it is called professionally).
Her scale is amazing. Her control is unreal.
I suggest you watch how she sang the song "Je t'aime" by Lara Fabian in the program The Voice of Poland:
💖💖💖The Voice of Poland - Dorota Osińska - "Je t'aime💖💖💖
I want to add that Dorota is a blind person who sang this song without knowing French.
Dorota is an example of a person with great talent who, for many reasons, has unfortunately not had the career that a person with such talent deserves.
I also recommend seeing her first performance on The Voice of Poland. The video has English subtitles:
🧡🧡🧡The Voice of Poland - Dorota Osińska „Calling You" with English subtitles🧡🧡🧡
Awesome! Thank you so much for the comment and the suggestion, I have it wrote down and can't wait to get to it.
Billie purposely sang this in the airy voice because it was the way she interpreted it for the Barbie movie. She said that she sang it in her normal voice, but the meaning was not right, thus the airy voice. "What was I made for," is coming from the perspective of a Barbie doll. Barbie is realizing she's just a doll, but is becoming aware of what she has been missing out on by not being real.
And finding out she's not real
