    This song is so perfect because not only does it describe what's happening to Barbie in the film, finding out she's "not real, just something you paid for" - but it also describes Billie herself, as she has admitted in interviews. She's shown with Barbie size versions of famous outfits she has worn in the past at different phases of her career, as if to further illustrate that these are all part of her costume that she shows the public - but they aren't necessarily who she really is. It's also heartbreaking to hear the line "I'm sad again, don't tell my boyfriend, it's not what he's made for". When a person is having a difficult or sad time in their life, that's exactly what their significant other SHOULD be there for, to help one get through the rough times. When you can't count on your boyfriend or girlfriend to help you when you need it most, that's heartbreaking. That's when you feel all alone in the world.

      I interpreted the "not what he's made for" line to mean that happiness has to come from within herself. Sure you can have loved ones there to support you, and you should. But ultimately they can't be responsible for your happiness. You have to learn to love yourself and accept yourself with all your own imperfections and know that it is enough to just be yourself. Don't pin that responsibility on someone else who is also imperfect and has to find their own inner happiness and can ultimately let you down. It has to come from within.

    With the exception of Bad Guy Billie’s music videos tend to have a bit of black screen at the end, on the one hand to make sure the videos (usually directed by her) don’t get covered in end screen stuff, and partly to make the listener reflect on the song within the silence

    I have never understood the attitude today "it's nice if he's there for you like that but don't expect it." What on earth is the reason for even being in a relationship if you can't support each other? Lift each other up when one or the other needs it? Share both your joys and your sorrows? Help each other grow into better versions of yourselves? It's no wonder relationships don't last half as long anymore. People are too busy only looking out for themselves and the people they claim to love can ef off and fend for themselves.
    And that attitude is at complete odds with the whole "it's ok to ask for help" that everyone spouts now. Basically it's saying ''it's ok to ask for help, just not from the people who supposedly love you." I've heard it again and again watching reactions to this song and that part comes and it completely baffles me.

      Very true that, in a healthy relationship, both partners should be eqaually supportive through the ups and downs. However, I think the song isn't about what a relationship _should_ be, but about realizing that you've been putting on this facade - pretending to be ok and to have your shit together, trying to live up to the "Barbie" standards instilled in you from the time you were a little girl. But coming to the realization that you're unhappy and don't know who you really are since you've been trying to be something you're not for so long.

    “I don’t know how long she’s been out”
    You are definitely late to the game. She’s still young but she was discovered on Sound Cloud at like 14 so she feels like a veteran at like 20 years old with all the projects she’s been involved with. And she has a uniqueness about her that attracts people to her. She’s genuine I believe and not perfect because she is so young and that’s okay, people love real people.

    I loved that reaction ❤ actually they dont really work with other producers. Only exceptions were for the Labrinth song they did earlier this year and here Mark Ronson did the string arrangement also the Bond track where Hans Zimmer did the strings. Finneas said big orchestra is just not something he thinks he could do as goof as these guys (understandably) yes, some more Billie would be nice.

    I loved your response to the song and video... Can I fill you in?
    This can be explained by Billie eilish herself in an incredible interview by Apple music. Sorry, I know $$$. It's on UA-cam now.
    It's about an existential crisis but realizing that life is worth living... The Barbie movie f*cking rocks, hysterical, stupid, 80s to a degree, but overall HEART ❤️❤️❤️ can I add from Ted lasso... Be curious and understanding instead of judgemental, it will serve you well...
    Watch happier than ever by Billie eilish next if you haven't yet...

      @@Roblockdn You immediately jumped on the other guy saying he felt something when she sang I fall down/don't tell my BF and all you said was it was "deep" but you don't seem to feel anything about it. F-sake. When the other guy was so disturbed about the lyrics of the woman basically saying she had no one-- you were like, "Oh I'm for me, she's for her". I'm very sorry if you think that's really what to expect in a good relationship. It isn't.

    • @Roblockdn
      @Roblockdn  6 місяців тому

      Talking about jumping… you sure jumped to that conclusion over less than 10 words that I said. Damn. You’re entitled to your opinion but that is a reeeeeach. You expecting me to have a certain reaction just because you would have is quite literally perplexing. I had heard this song before but he hasn’t, so I was letting him process the lyrics, which is why I wasn’t saying much. The song also hits pretty hard so as to not analyze it too much and let myself feel it, I also don’t want to take away from the moment by saying anything other than “deep”. Also, your partner is supposed to be a plus for you, not the person who is expected to make you happy because you need to be happy with yourself first. That’s not your partner’s/anyone else’s job. If you don’t think it puts a strain on a relationship because you’re expecting your partner to make you happy when you can’t fix those things within yourself, then maybe I’m not the one who needs to see someone. 🤷🏻‍♂️ - kloquewerk

    Mothers ARE the glue, in most families. There may be multiple men, but only the mother's glue matters.
    In my opinion, Barbie was the worst misogynistic commercial venture ever. That single doll basically set the stage for anorexia & bulimia before they even had a name, made by MEN.
