The watch part is wrong actually. In the movie, Christian Bale actually wears a SEIKO SNXJ90, because Rolex, (the brand of watch he wears in the novel, where the name is mentioned 26 times, a Rolex Datejust 16013 to be specific) contrived to get the brand omitted from the film because they did not wish to be associated or portrayed with such violent media. This also resulted in the dialogue change in the scene with the prostitues, where in the novel he says don't touch the rolex, however in the film he says don't touch the watch ua-cam.com/video/Tm4zUH-Xv_o/v-deo.html Otherwise, outstanding video.
good choice for the song at the end, i heard it in a vaporwave album that embraces a stylish corporate vibe just like in this movie. id like to recommend midnight deluxe if youre inyo that kind of music
Is that not what it was? I have it on cassette ;) got it on the second run I believe a few years ago. I think that’s what it was cause it doesn’t sound like the more popular Telepath one (also have that amazing album on cassette ;))
Great job on the details, this reminds me of the late 80s to early 90s and Nordstrom sold menswear that epitomized these looks. I wore braces…(they are not called suspenders- those are for socks)…to work nearly every day prior to casual Fridays being popularized. It was a fun time to be a young working professional. Fine dressing is timeless. These looks still have style imo. Thanks for posting this as you did a great job here and is a perfect style guide reference.
Great video. I noted that although his ties seem to be the classic windsor not...but his tie knot is almost always a thicker knot than his colleague's windsor knots. That had to also be a decision made by the costumer.
There's some kick-ass vaporware tracks in this video, what is the name of the second one you used (from 2:50 onwards) ? I just fell in love with those sax solos
Yeah, I watched this movie at a funny point in my life, I've known people like bateman in real life and I can say the character is eerily accurate. But in terms of fashion, I have to admit they really did there research, I know atleast a few of those suits were by Cerruti, I've been lucky enough to snag one off ebay and I have to say their quality is amazing. Armani gets alot of mention in reference to 80s styling but I think cerruti, versace are also really vital. Batemans a detestable person, but his dress style is unmatched, even by his real life counter parts!
What clothes will I buy? I like the John Wick suite style! The fifty shades of grey blue purple suite was my idea, well I chose the type of suite and colour material!
@@gwupxd Bateman would probably wear something from Armani or Allen Edmonds But if you wanna get some for yourself try Zara the shoes are good quality and affordable

They're just staple pieces. Like oliver people glasses that have a similar model. Suits, ties that are similar to the film. Not the exact brands, but similar mindset, like a nice wool suit. instead of a polyester one. Luxury required to be like patrick bateman.
His watch in the movie is actually a Seiko. Good video
yep true
That first suit has peak lapels not notched.
This was truly a fascinating analogy of the movie. Loved it.
Happy to hear!
Love to see someone break down the fashion in this movie! Keep up the great content

Don't touch the watch.
Yeah I learned this shortly afterwards but I guess canonically it should've been a Rolex 😂

It's 'Friday Shopping' by Dystopian Chic
Impressive. Very nice. Let's see Paul Allen's Style in 'American Psycho'
His Suits aint as 80s as many people think. Its more 90s with a hint of 80s. That also makes sense because it was filmed in the late 90s.
07:46 "J&B straight, and a Corona"
2:54 clearly not notched lapels
Bill Lumberg from Office Space has this iconic style too. Very 80's style.

In the book Patrick Bateman wears a Rolex but in the movie he wears a Seiko 5 SNXJ90
Did an AI write this? The script often doesn't match what's being shown on screen and you made mistakes like calling his peaked lapels notched ones.
